Very serene and beautiful view! Great for an Romantic walk...
The Coast Starlight Train was a delight. The dining car was decorated for the holidays and the mountains to the west of the San Joaquin Valley visible through the windows. The Observation Car had great views of blue sky and the passing terrain. Love this trip.
Im from the Bay JLS has always been one of my favorite spots.
The garage stays open to 1am, not 11:30pm as this site indicates, also you can get your car out even after 1am, just be sure you have your parking ticket with you as that gets you into the locked garage . Our train back from Sacramento was delayed and we got into Oakland at 1:40am. The parking ticket got us in the locked door on the 2nd street side of the garage, them you roll up to the closed gate with your car and the gate goes up letting you then insert your ticket in the machine, pay, then exit. Great.
The Capitol Corridor is a grand experience; smooth and comfortable with lovely views of the Bay Area and SF Delta. The staff on the train and in the stations (Sacramento & Oakland) were courteous and helpful. I look forward to my next trip.
The staff here is always very helpful, and very professional.One in particular was Robert. When I had forgot my bag onboard the train when I had to make my bus connection in Stockton to Sacramento, I had called Amtrak 1800-USA-RAIL to put in a Lost Luggage request, which they then transferred me to OKJ after I gave them a description of it. And Robert was the one who had advised me to call back every day to check and theyll be more than happy to update me on the bag. And sure enough it was here safe and sound.Very helpful. Very professional. More than 5 Stars if I could :)
My friend and I got to the Oakland amtrak at 11pm to buy train tickets. All the doors were locked, but there were two worker still inside. At first i thought they didnt see us but my friend kept knocking on the door while I was jumping waving my arms. There was absolutely no one around and they both were just on there phones completely ignoring us. I have never experienced such lazy customer service.

I will never take an Amtrak train again, ever! Did the coastal route and besides being late for every stop, most of the ride is boring and ugly. Just drive to San Luis Obispo, get on the train to Santa Barbara, and then go back to San Luis. The train broke down and we were with out generators and the toilets would not flush and there was no air conditioning. They left us sitting about 100 yards from the Santa Barbara station for 2 hours before they figured out what was wrong and would not let us off the train. Coming back we about 5 hours late getting to Oakland. They did nothing to compensate us for all of the delays and the horrible conditions. They told us that since the generator was not working we would have to use the toilets until they filled up!! It was disgusting. Never again!
I love Amtrak or Amtrizzie as my friends and I call it. I catch the train often and the staff is very nice and helpful! I also appreciate the way that Amtrak accommodates passengers. None of that get there the best way u can, like other providers!! Amtrak makes sure they get u to ur destination safely! Great Job Amtrizzie (Amtrak)!!!!!!!
Decent train station. It has a fine indoor waiting area, but it definitely exudes a 1990s era vibe. About a 20 minute walk from downtown Oakland.
The train ride was ok and so was the station but the staff where extremely fn rude at one point they yelled at me for asking a question twice and tried making me feel bad for making sure that my train was leaving at that time since ot was departing almost am hour earlier than what my ticket indicated i kinda wanted to cry but i let it go

Amtrak station. It is a clean station building with toilet and ticket office.Close to downtown Auckland I think it is better to use a bus or car if possible, as it is necessary to walk on a small street for about 15 minutes from the Bart station.

2022-06-10Trains are always clean and usually on time (they sometimes arrive early but always leave on schedule). The conductors are helpful and knowledgeable about the train numbers, stops, etc

2022-01-17Stay away from this spot. Absolutely was treated awful. 1st our train was delayed way over a hour (which isnt the fault of this person or anyone) and my spouse and I arrived and asked a woman worker in the morning behind the check in/baggage area when was the updated arrival time and she said how there was a incident and the arrival time is unknown. Then after we had an emergency and had to go to the car ( which isnt even 10 feet away from the station) and once we heard a train arrive, we went to check with a conductor woman out front which she didnt know what was going on with the trains. Then my spouse went inside to ask the woman again and asked about the train that atrived if it was ours and she gave my sppuse a huge attitude saying I thought i was loud and clear about what i said and the answer is still no completely insulting and you cannot hear the announcement on the outdoor speakers at all. What kind of place especially a state/federal government ran business hires people who treat paying customers like that? If someone has a attitude like that with no paitence should not work there or with the public. Very unprofessional. Stay away from this spot.

2018-09-14What a great way to travel !Lyft to the Sacramento Amtrak ticket office, a 7 minute walk out to the train, seemed like an hour to Jack London square, but I know it had to have been more.A smooth quiet ride with electrical power, table, WiFi, small cafe, comfortable seating, and nice views.If younger, or just physically fit in-general. Consider bringing a small day pack and bicycle helmet instead of a suitcase. Register apps on your cellphone for both Lime and Bird electric scooter rental. Rental starts at $1.Lift and Bird scooters are found everywhere. If someones not on it, use the app and youre on the go. At your destination, terminate your trip on the app.After checking into a hotel. You wont need that backpack. Just grab a bird or lime scooter and youre off hopping from restaurant to restaurant to nightlife and everywhere else that catches your fancy.Need to carry some packages? Then use your Lyft app.Personally, I only use my home computer to create accounts that link to my Paypal account. Then I use my account name and number that I generate on my computer to go to the app and get the app setup on my cell phone.Guidepost.us

2021-11-01They had called my train… I just wanted to make sure I was going to the correct train… rather than actually assist me, the lady making the announcement just kept screaming into the intercom..710 710 710… when she finally stopped and I asked her if the train I was looking at was the correct train all she did was yell.. didn’t I say 710!! At this point I got very angry and said, “ this is a simple yes or no question!!! Is the train I am looking at the train going to Bakersfield?”At which point she finally said yes…. I did not get her name because I was in a rush to board.. but this individual has ZERO business in a customer service capacity and if was to ever treat a client or customer in this manner at my place of business…. Her employment would be terminated immediately!!’

2019-04-25Oaklands main train statjon is at Jack London Square straigt West of their downtown by the waterfront. The Oakland to San Francisco Ferry is a 15 minute walk. If you want to catch Bart Oakland Colliseum is probably a better stop if you dont want to Lyft it.

2020-12-22Worst station Ive ever been to. I missed my train and had wait there for 6 hours to catch the next one. You cant hear the announcements because of how old the speaker system is especially outside cant hear anything when trains are there. While I was there 3 other people missed their trains because they couldnt hear announcement. The employees are very unsympathetic and just tell you they made announcement. Horrible customer service.
