My family and I have been using BFL airport for over 20 years. Its fast, convenient, reliable and fair in pricing. Customer service is amazing at this location . Fresno and Los Angeles are around 2 hours from our city and yes pricing usually saves you around 100 to 300 if you use their airports but do consider travel drive, parking ,traffic, fatigue so BFL it is! I hope they bring international flights back.
Best customer service experience of my life. When attempting to change flights to arrive at my destination earlier, the American Airlines agent was thorough and courteous in searching for available options. She explained everything to me with patience and compassion and connected with the finance/accounting department to find the difference in cost for changing my flight plan. I ultimately didnt choose to adjust the flight plan due to cost.Since I still had 8 hrs until my flight, I was sitting in the waiting area in the section before you get to the security check. Id been sitting there for 15 minutes when the same woman walked over and asked if Id considered moving to an earlier flight that would still put me at my final destination at the same time, but would allow me to spend my 8 hrs in an airport in Phoenix (more than one eatery) instead. I took her up on that offer and ended up on the next flight.I dont know her name, but she was a Black woman with brown afro puffs in her hair. If youre reading this, THANK YOU!!! Thank you for seeing me and valuing me, and going the distance.
Be careful about the Hertz Rent-a-Car company I was delayed in San Francisco on my flight by 2 hours contact Expedia and they said they contacted the Hertz company in Bakersfield at the airport and that guaranteed that I would have somebody there so I could get a rental car when I arrived at 11:15 there was absolutely nobody there but me and the security guard and I was stranded in Bakersfield for 24 hours till I can get a car the next day I went to Avis instead. Because the Hertz car rental still was not open I was told that there very often. There it was a miserable trip and it costed me a hundred and thirty more dollars to get a motel until the next day to get a car that was my experience
Awesome airport. Very clean. Friendly staff. We missed arriving an hour early because when you Google Bakersfield Airport they send you to the municipal. Which is the wrong place in Meadows Field Airport is what has passenger transportation. Somehow it would be good if they could specify that with Google. This way it will not mislead anyone else in the future.
Small airport never any crowed lines or any bad service. I go to this airport every time to pick up and drop off my boyfriend and so far Ive never seen any bad service here. First, the parking is free (for 30 minutes) but you will be charged if you over stay in the parking lot. And secondly, the service in the airport is amazing. Never have I ever seen any rude employees and I think thats because how this airport is never really that busy and crowded like most bigger airports. There are also taxi cabs waiting outside if you dont have a ride planned.
I been there during Gallaudet University time. It was only and one place to be aired in Bakersfield California. So it is very nice and so simply airplane and rent a car business for 18 years old or over people to be independent on their own. So neat. Not bad food there. Customer service is so well being paitence with clients. No trouble on laws for Meadows Field Airport only if you guys behave well.
This is a small airport with a big personality. Its not really busy and has a small town feel to it. Baggage claim can take awhile, especially at night. Theres not much in the way of shopping or eating, but its very clean. Theres also convenient parking right in front of the airport. If you need to to go Bakersfield this is definitely a better choice than LAX. I just wish United offered more than 2 direct flight a day.
Don‘t bother showing up early for your flight. The entire crew (especially United) won’t show up until an hour before. Somehow, an airport that only has 10 flights a day still manages to have delays. No ride sharing available either. Probably one of the worst - if not the worst airport I’ve visited.
Airfare is pricey. Also, they don’t allow Uber or Lyft drivers to pick you up there. So, expect to pay double and wait double time for a cab company. Also, most cab companies charge $2.50 to use your credit card. I want to remind everyone it’s 2018. Let’s get with the program to help travelers keep traveling so you can use this nice little airport.
Check in personal are great. However supervisor at gate was horrible.I had a issue that my seats had been changed, and I am disabled and paid extra for those seats. She was very loud and snippy. She refused to take the time to help me.So the flight was misberale for me. I needed the row 1 leg room, I have arthritis and needed the extra room to stretch my legs to prevent bloodclots. The airport is very nice. The airline not very good.
There are only a few places you can fly directly to from BFL (Phoenix, Dallas, etc). But you can pretty much connect from those to anywhere else you need to get to. The flight is certainly a little costlier than flying out of LAX or SFO but thats the cost of convenience if you live in Bakersfield and dont want to drive to a nearby major airport. My family and I frequently fly to PHX to visit the in laws and thus BFL certainly gets the job done for us. We really like the small confines of the airport as it makes checking in and passing security check point a quick breeze. Lastly the airport is extremely clean and well maintained all around.
Horrible airport. I left my vehicle here for 4 days and my gas tank was completely siphoned horrible security efforts here. They made me pay 40 dollars to park but stole over that in gas. Thankfully I had a second gas tank so I could drive home. Never coming back to this place again always Fresno
One of the worst travel experiences ever. Will avoid flying out of Bakersfield in the future. Both American and United try hard to ruin your day and they do a good job of it. Flight was delayed so badly due to Americans unbelievable disorganization that they were driving people to Burbank and LAX, so they could try to catch flights on real airlines. This airport should be closed, if this is the best they can do.
A small, 5 gate airport that is very well designed and incredibly clean. There is a Blimpies that serves breakfast and lunch and other random snacks inside the secure area. The TSA line rarely takes longer than 30 mins (I do take the early flights though). Free, unsecured WiFi is available inside the airport. the Bakersfield Meadows Field airport is a ten times better experience than LAX even if it is more expensive.
Great together small airport, easy to get around and fly out, and heck with going to La, unless its the best way for you, or your taking an international flight, but to go anywhere in the US, and connect easy, why not, and you might pay a little more, but well worth it, compared to Lax,or Burbank even.
This is a great airport to fly in/out of, especially if you live in the southern portion of the Central Valley. Theres direct flights to Denver, Houston, Phoenix, LA, and San Francisco, giving you plenty of one-stop connections. The airport is also very clean, new, relaxing, and so easy to breeze through. Oh, and theres free Wi-Fi.A lot of people think its always cheaper to use LAX or Burbank, but in truth--if you do your research ahead of time--BFL can actually be a better deal. Since Im from Bakersfield, Ive used BFL and all of the LA-regional airports several times over the past 10 years. If you search for flights at just the right time and utilize several booking websites, there are times when the price difference between LAX and BFL is from only $50 to $150.If you really think about it, using LAX has additional costs beyond the flight reservation. If you take an airport shuttle, theres that added expense. Or, if you make your family come pick you up, youre forcing them to purchase gas for not just two trips to the airport, but also two trips back to Bakersfield (quite a bit of gas!). And then, you have to deal with the long drive, the traffic, and wear and tear on your vehicle, and just the general hassle (and headaches) of LAX.Ill give it to the people of Bakersfield that flying with a group (like a family of five) can be much more expensive out of BFL. However, if youre just one person flying, in my opinion, it makes more sense to use BFL (so long as the ticket price is only up to $150 more). And besides, this airport is not going to get additional (and cheaper) flights if the locals dont support it. You only have to look just north at Fresno to see that an airport in the valley can be successful, especially when the locals arent driving 100 miles away to another airport.
They stranded my grandfather for 4 hours at the middle of no where and it was very hot and they said he could not leave the car and they did not send a person to wait with the car they made him wait in the sun and he had to wait for 4 hours and he is 78 years old and no one should go there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2022-02-14I only visited to rent a car and was stranded outside for 8 hours. The young lady with Avis was super helpful, except their policy states that you must have an active credit card to rent though. She did her best to assist, however was unable to (thanks for the pizza slice though, I was famished after my wreck). The Enterprise counter was also super helpful, however they were fresh out of cars. Do not trust Hertz website for this facility, I had booked multiple cars and been unable to obtain any of them as their system doesnt match their stock.

2022-03-29I dont know HOW a delay is possible this early in the morning but for such a small airport, it happens apparently. I was going to give it 2 stars but this is such an inconvenience, I QUESTION how this airport is still in business. I have to wait over 5 HOURS! Why? This airport needs help. People seem nice so I changed from 1 star to 2

2022-06-15The people who work TSA are completely incompetent. They act like they have such a tough and stressful or important job when there’s barely 5-10 flights out of here per day.Take some lessons from any major airport TSA and try to be kind or helpful.

2022-05-11Easiest airport I’ve ever flown out of! Super empty, very easy to navigate, and TSA was actually very pleasant and nice! Would fly out of Meadows over any other airport any day!

2020-08-10Great airport with plenty of parking and easy access. Clean, easy access from i99 take Olive or Airport off ramps. Airport is newer and modern. All the major car rental firms have counters here. No international flights but easy access from this airport to the major hubs like LAX and SFO

2022-01-05So quick and easy to board, deboard and just one carousel for baggage claim. TSA is quick and polite. What a wonderful way to take our initial flight and end our flight.

2019-03-22I love landing at Bakersfield Meadows Airport! What I love the most: You can literally show up at this airport 30 minutes before your flight leaves and easily make your flight on time. Smaller airport means you dont have massive lines. You walk in, go straight to the kiosk, print out your ticket, go straight to the TSA screening, and be in your terminal within 15 minutes. What Id like to see more of: Food and restaurants. I know its small and they probably dont have enough traffic but it would be cool if they had more places to eat at. They only have 1 place.Rental Cars: They have 4 different rental car companies to choose from which is more than enough options. Easy to quickly get off the plane and into your car.
