This place is Going down hill!! Waited over an hour for take out food ended up being dry, half of the portions we normally get and a complete waist of a trip. Been a long time customer but have had bad experiences over and over with this location, this is the first review but I have to speak my mind. Maybe management cant make some changes.

The food was great and the service I received was great during these trying times. In my opinion, since COVID and even before then, customer service left something to be desired in my book. The girl that helped me went above and beyond where other businesses didnt. My phone went dead. I had just enough money for lunch, none of the businesses like Jack in the box inparticular, would let me charge my phone to find the location of my friend who totalled his truck. Luckily I found him and we had lunch there.... It was just such a pleasure to have such a genuine kind person help and let me charge my phone. I was 200 miles from home. I wish I could remember her name but shed probably reminder the lady she was so kind to and let me charge. So grateful. I was low on funds so could only leave a little tip so if you go because of this review, could you kick her down a little extra. Many could learn from her.
Hands down definitely one of my favorite places to eat Mexican food while I am in Alpine big fat burritos not like those little skinny ones at the other places.
The shrimp quesadilla is quite refreshing. This place has its very own unique taste/style that definitely sets it apart from the typical taco shops and other Mexican restaurants. Customer service is ehh.

Best bean and cheese burritos in Alpine!
Mananas is one of 2 Mexican food restaurants my wife and I frequent in Alpine. They are all good but we love this particular restaurant. We have had an issue or two with them but theyve always taken care of. Great breakfast burritos, flautas, chilaquilas and frankly everything else. Great salsa bar and customer service is always professional and friendly.
Okay first off, whoever gives this place less then 5 stars is truly bias as*. That came one time and was a jerk and got treated like one. Ive lived in Alpine since I was born. Eating at this very place since I could remember. Not once has a order been wrong. Not once have I seen someone upset with their service. Not once in all those yeas since it was just one side. Have I ever seen a unhappy customer. So one star reviews truly shock me. This is a great place to go. Definitely stop in and grab some food.
For San Diego this place is very good ...beloved even. For a place that is a stones throw from the 8 freeway for travelers... it is outstanding. Great for meals on the go coming and going on the 8.
It was late and its on my way home I felt like a couple of tacos . I stopped in before midnight and ordered 2 fish tacos to go. Delicious even just before closing . Sometimes at other places its not as good just before closing . They have things put away and they want to go home so no love goes into the food . But here it was just as good as any other time of day.
Had some red enchiladas, but not good at all. Tasteless, I think taco Bell has better seasoning!! Than this place. Definitely not a good Mexican food restaurant. Might as well go to Del Taco, or Taco Bell. Here seems that everything is made out of a can and not from scratch!!! :(
The food is ok tried this place a second time and again rude. Went to get salsa and there was a hair in the salsa bar salsas and eyebrow hairs in our food. The employees act so miserable. Cooks rolling their eyes and same with the girls at the till. Seem so sad and upset with themselves. Kinda worried with their attitudes they’ll mess with our food for being judgemental. Maybe that’s why there was hair in the food?? lol 😂 Then after ordering they just gossip back and forth. Do your job. There’s others in need of work and y’all are so unappreciative. I hate to complain too but they need new and professional staff. If you hate it there go find some new work.
I have been here before. Nice size place. Pretty good food. My only complaint is that the cashier blew her nose in a napkin and then reached for burrito that just slid out of the kitchen.

Fresh yummy salsa bar. I love this place. Never hadca bad meal here. Great food and supporting local small family business, win, win.
I really like this place. Ive always had a good experience and Ive tried almost everything on the menu over the past few years. This location is my favorite. Literally try anything. Even the plating is above standard when compared to other small Mexican places.
Mañanas mexican food has very good meals. Its a nice place to sharea good time as well as a good meal with a friend.
Great breakfast stop when we travel the 8 into AZ. From San Diego. The exit is Alpine. Food is authentic Mexican, well presented and reasonably priced. Clean and cute with real Mexico ambiance. We love everything weve tried for breakfast and hope to get by sometime for lunch or dinner.
Nice clean restaurant with a lot of locals eating there. Had the fish tacos and they were a little too deep fried. I would try eating there again, but I will pick something else.

This is a fine restaurant. There are two, one in Alpine and one in Ramona. Both are outstanding, with large menus and great cooks that know how to prepare Mexican food. Both have great and timely service . The prices are reasonable and the restaurants are clean
Poor service when I had ordered 5 roll tacos and a order of French fries with just guacamole and Sour cream and when food came I was unaware that there guacamole came with onions so I ask can I have my money back and I was told no then I asked can I switch to something without guacamole and still was told no I will not be going back to them !
I ordered carne asada fries. Their Fries supreme has no beans. Once I get home, which is in pine valley, I open the container and its nachos with a boat load of beans. I am allergic to beans so I couldnt even eat it if I wanted to. Called and demanded a refund and the correct order. They told me it was fine and that all I needed to do was bring my receipt. Once I get there, they gave me a refund and refused to make the correct order and said I still have to pay for it. I was a very loyal customer and now will never return. This place is complete trash with trashy customer service.

I wanted to give more stars.. But, unfortunately, this is second attempt here. My first visit: pollo asado fries, i couldnt do it. The sour cream is sludgey n tastes like powdered something.. this second try: chicken enchiladas. Not coming back. The chicken wasnt broken apart, and dry, no red enchilda sauce inside, not even cheese sprinkled inside. My expectations were pretty resonable, but i didnt think i would have had to lower that much. I would rather go nextdoor to little ceacars, at the rude doughnut shop n get a dozen doughnut holes and call it a night. Also, Al Panchos is down the st, very good food and great service. I wont go here again...1.5🌟 really.
This restaurant was recommended to me by the Ayers Hotel staff with food being outstanding, and they were right! Excellent taste, portions, and presentation. Real mexican food - no taco bell here. However, LOL, the service was more like real Mexican too. That is, it runs on Manana Time. Friendly, but at a leisurely pace. And the apparently they can only give you one bottle of beer at a time. So if you order it, order/pay for one, when drained, order/pay for another. The restaurant has a very large dining area, but is obviously catered to take-out from the layout, lack of metal cutlery, and packets only of salt, pepper, etc. I have to add though, each of the 4 available salsa were sensational. I would eat here again, and definitely recommend it.
We are oit of town visiting my Son. We decided to buy Menudo.The Menudo was wtererd down. Very little maize and no pigs feet.The last time we were here it was very good. They must not make it every day.We bought it on a Sunday. You would think they make it every day.Evidently not.
Talk about great food at great prices, nice atmosphere with plenty of elbow space. Food brought directly to you and pretty much all the fixings you can ask for but dont need to because its offered by the staff.Good grub

Food was fine, but I had to change our babys diaper and the bathroom was dirty in a really bad way! There was not one single surface I was comfortable putting a child on for a quick change.
Food is great. Prices are a little on the high side for Mexican food. But, it is the only Mexican food place I know of in Alpine. When you are craving a burrito after a long day & have a 45 minute commute back home...stopping here is the best option to avoid traffic. I ordered a bean burrito & quesadilla. I gobbled the quesadilla down. It has both white and orange cheese. I prefer white cheese, but it was a good size and not greasy.

Had the Machaca burrito. It was amazing but hotter than the core of the sun! Had to wait 10 minutes for it to cool down but was stellar after that.

This place is ok, nothing special. Portions are generally smaller than tapatios. (Other long time restaurant in Alpine CA. I think their prices are a little high for what you get.

2022-07-02I like stopping at Mananas after riding up in the Laguna mountains. Restaurant is usually very clean, the staff is friendly, and the food is usually really good. The service is fairly quick and if they are not too busy they bring the food out to your table. I had the chicken fajita salad today which is usually really good but the chicken was dry and a little overcooked. That being said I will still come back as the food is usually really good, large portions, and reasonably priced.

2021-08-24We stop off here for breakfast prior to riding our mountain bikes in the Great SoCal Outback. My go-to dish is the shrimp burrito which is filled with plump shrimps, and some cabbage along with a tasty white sauce. No unnecessary filler-rice here. My husband loves the chicken taco. The food is tasty and delivered to the table with a smile.

2022-07-06A great place for every meal or snack of the day between 07:00-11:00PM . It is bigger and nicer than it looks from the outside and everything is very clean. The employees are incredibly cheerful and friendly, even if you walk in 10 minutes before they close. This is a perfect stop on any road trip or regular outing for locals. Don’t waste your time with the chain stores.

2022-04-08Not good food or menu knowledge. Shrimp are very small, tough and too few for the price. I asked questions before ordering. Like what vegetables are in the fajitas, they said, only peppers and onions. Not true, tomatoes too which I hate. And the peppers were nearly raw. I asked if a sauce was spicy, was told, not at all Well it was, quite spicey. The salad is mostly iceberg, carrots and pale tomatoes. Not worth the $$.

2021-01-10We frequent the El Cajon location regularly, but we were passing through Alpine, and looking for a meal. We decided to see if this location had the same great taste. I ordered my favorite, the shrimp enchiladas, and it was the exact yummy taste as the El Cajon location. We were able to sit outside as they had a few outdoor tables and chairs. My husband had rolled tacos, and they were covered in guacamole and cheese. Both locations provided delicious food, consist on taste and portion size.

2022-04-29Not the best California burrito. Meat pieces were not cut up well at all. Struggle bus to eat. Hand cut fries do not belong in a Cali burrito. No guacamole or Pico. 😒
