I was here this past Monday for date night with the hubby. From the outside, you wouldnt think its anything special, but inside... beautiful, amazing ambiance. Great service, delicious food. I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu; it came with polenta and veggies. Everything was cooked perfectly with great flavors. I had a sauvignon blanc and hubby had a smooth red that our waiter recommended. At the finish of dinner, hubby enthusiastically asked for the dessert menu; he confessed it was his main reason for choosing this restaurant. We ordered the triple layer chocolate cake - amazing! Well definitely be back.
Early dinner hour found my wife and I being the only customers when we first arrived. I was promptly greeted and given a choice of seating while I awaited my wifes arrival. The staff was very friendly and asked if there was anything they could get me while I waited. The menu is simple with offerings of appetizers, soup and salads, a wide variety of pasta dishes, a palate challenging variety of meat dishes, and side offerings. They also have a short list of quality wine offerings and other beverages as well as a full bar.Our meals were delicious and filling, and as we ate we were able to reminisce about the many times we have visited here over 45+ years, first as Tonellis and then as the current La Strada. The meal, the service, and the memories left us full and happy and looking forward to future meals and memories to be enjoyed here.
No complaints here. Staying down the road from out of town so we were looking for a easy place to eat some delicious food. Great Italian food! The portions are perfect, prices were great, and decent selection of drinks. Fine dining without the feeling you need to dress and be formal. Family atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating.
The staff were really friendly and the server did a great job in serving us food. We ordered ceasar salad, chicken cordon bleue and linguini puttanesca. The cordon bleue comes with side of veggies and palenta. I liked their palenta. The linguini was perfectly cooked. Tasty! They also have olive oil with garlic for your bread. Overall it was good. I gave 4 stars because I didnt like their sangria. But the food tastes good!
Food is always delicious and consistent, they have the best soups in town, the service is always great, they are always accommodating and I know that I can always guarantee on a good meal here. My favorites are their osso buco, the rack of lamb, petite lamb chops, crab ravioli, chicken gnocchi with pesto, tortellini w/prosciutto and peas, mussels, greek salad, and bruschetta.
So the only reason for 4 starts is because of Jose our server, the dude was great and properly trained. He made it a good experience. The food is mid tier Italian with okay quality. We got the cheesecake for dessert which was keylime but they covered with chocolate and raspberry and was a not so good combination, not sure who thought that was a good idea. The sampler antipasto was cheap meats and cheese with shredded carrot garnish, not recommended. The wine and Piccata were pretty tasty.
Lasagna was too greasy. And replace of chicken alfredo. The chicken seemed like it was microwaved towards end of cooking and alfredo sauce tasted like fresh Milk.First time extremely disappointed.so I came back today I i must say a better impression with the food. Thank you
Sat down, was served bleach water and then me and my Mexican friend got skipped over. Waited 15 min and watched others get food before us and they showed up after us. Needless to say we left.Thank you for the apology. We stopped because of the reviews, hungry from working all day. I will say the guy who gave us water was the same guy that skipped us for the other table. He knew we were there first.
A long time favorite. The menu is very reliable, service is great, parking is easy. They sooooo need to update the restrooms.I had a swordfish piccata, very nicely prepared and presented. My wife a had a shrimp fettucine which she really enjoyed. The shrimp were frozen but everything else was really fresh. One of us had a lasagna and raved about it.Always a great dining experience and if you have a larger group of 8 to 10 ask about the little dining room in the back. Super cozy and a really really fun place for a small celebration.
The service was good, but the food fell way below expectation. We understand it was a busy weekend before, but the restaurant was out of a lot of dishes: pizza, lasagna, soup, and wine.We had the special seafood linguine in a white sauce. The linguine was overcooked and didnt seem to be drained well. The sauce was extremely watered down and the flavor was full. The salads were ok, but we requested the dressings on the side and instead came on the salad and a little too heavy.Overall, felt let down on the experience.
Attended an afternoon banquet 50th Anniversary party. Xclnt fare and choice of dishes at buffet. Unobtrusive adequate service, Attractive full-size wall murali behind the long head table, the rest of room fairly plain, seated 60 for this, probably more easily enough. They promptly turned off music in that area on request.Bathrooms nothing special, basic, needing attention, I alerted staff.Bar service pleasant. House red and white wines $8, Seemed a modestly good wine list of Italian and local vinyards (Im no connoisseur). But good heavens! Name sign is desperate for replacement! Gives this very pleasant roadside restaurant, low-key bar, and quite nice simple banquet facility the aura of a half-deserted country Bates Motel dive! Ignore the sign. While Im actually not real big on Italian food aside from a few simpler items, Id go there again with a friend, or even alone. Enjoyed the celebration of love 💞
Had the linguine with shrimp last night for dinner. It was kind of bland, and the shrimp was tough.(I could taste and smell the iced tea just fine, and Im fully vaccinated for those of you thinking its COVID.)But thats not the worst: been up all night with food-borne illness, tossing it all up and out.I dont care how nice youre restaurant is, if you cant handle basic food safety, dont expect a good review.
She had linguini with pesto.I had chicken cordon bleu. Best Ive ever had, with a creamy polenta that I could eat with every meal. Also the vegetables were cooked perfectly, but make sure that you ask for the olive oil for the bread they serve when you are seated. We LOVE THIS PLACE!!
When in a new area, you often rely on reviews to get an idea of where to eat. Today we tried La Strada Napa. Trip Advisor gave it glowing reviews. My Italian husband and I give it a Meh. The service was amazing! But, the food, just... meh and not worth what we paid. #1 rule in italian eateries... HAVE GOOD BREAD! My husband was appalled at the cold, sliced bread, not made in house, and served with butter instead of olive oil and spices. When we asked for oil, we were offered the salad oil that was just canola. When we asked again for real olive oil, it was tasteless and disappointing. The Antipasta was very good. It had artisinal cheeses, olives, italian cured meats, and peppers. The soup of the day was minestrone and just OK. It did not have enough flavor! Entrees were delicious but not what I would call exceptional or even excellent. I had the red snapper and hubby had veal. Overall, Id give it an average rating... but I can say if you ever find yourself near Napa, CA and your time is limited, skip this one in favor of other local fare.
The service is fantastic. Definitely 5 stars. The food was really good. I got the crab ravioli and my husband got the new york steak, shrimp and chicken special. We got the lemon blueberry cheesecake to go and we disappointed on the size of the slice, but it tasted pretty good. My husband thought the cheesecake wasnt creamy as if it were over baked. Would definitely go back.
Not terrible not good either. Can someone please teach them the difference between shrimp and prawn? Ordered through grubhub on our first visit to Napa. I got the fettuccine with prawn my wife got the margarita pizza (no size on menu). The pizza was decently priced for the size (we were expecting something smaller) and was ok. The pasta was bad, noodles had cheap romen quality and the shrimp were way over done. Sauce was decent. Overall Im disappointed.
I came in to grab some dinner a hour before closing time, I drove all the way from Stockton to try there food and I was turned away saying they were closed and the staff left but all the staff was there and it was several staff cars parked in the back, I’m really disappointed I love Italy 🇮🇹 food but I will not return, the manager replied to my review saying I wasn’t there a hour before closing but I was and I showed the person what time online it says they closed and they lied and said all staff had left but it was more cars in the back parking lot then it was seated customers it would have been best to just apologize then to try to justify respectfully
Deplorable treatment at La Strada. My family had a horrible experience at La Strada tonight on Valentine’s Day. My son made a point of being home from medical school at UC Davis to have a romantic dinner with his girlfriend. He wanted to show her a nice evening for her continued support during their time apart and let her know that she means everything to him. He chose this special day to propose. When they arrived at La Strada this evening it was first come, first serve. They were seated and waited patiently. Four separate older groups were seated after them and served promptly. There was another younger party seated in the corner that was also served. My son and his girlfriend continued to wait and did not have a server come to take their order while those who were seated later placed their orders. There appeared to be 4 servers on duty.I have never condoned my children to play the race card. However in this instance it may be warranted. My son is Black and his girlfriend Is Latina. He was the only black person there and the only table not be be served, as they were watching each table. The other aforementioned groups seated after them were all white. I told him maybe they thought you wouldn’t tip well because of your age, but they stated there was a young white couple seated after them that had their order taken. I tried to find other possible reasons but there was none. They truly felt it was because my son was black. I have never known him to say this before.Since they have both been food servers, they understood this was a busy day but continued to be ignored by the serving staff. They asked to speak with a manager and one of the servers that had ignored them stated he was in charge. They didn’t feel validated after bringing up their concerns and asked to speak with someone higher in charge. The first server sent over another server, who had ignored them as well prior to coming to speak with them. They were offered to have their first drinks comp’ed but they weren’t drinking anything. They decided to leave. My son is not a thug. He is educated, respectfully, well spoken, and presentable. His girlfriend is likewise. She was the one who told me she felt it was because my son is black. My son was embarrassed, hurt, and no longer felt he could ask her hand in marriage given the way the evening had progressed. He was disheartened to know he could be responsible for caring for the lives of others and yet still not good enough to be served in a restaurant in his home town. I have few words to offer him to change his mind in this matter. I can only hope that going forward people will not invalidate someone based on potential preconceived bias.Shame on La Strada staff for negatively impacting what should have been a romantic evening and marriage proposal for a beautiful couple.
The entrance is a bit tricky and easy to pass, so keep your eyes open. We had a large group, about ten people. The staff was great, and the food was even better. I had the risotto with mushrooms. It was perfectly prepared. Even the house wines were tasty. I highly recommend La Strada.
Love the food and dining experience. Feels like little Italy inside and staff is very professional and helpful. Hamburger for my child was to be medium and it was well done and charred. A disappointment there but was so hu get he ate it anyway. Just dont order a burger. Other foods eaten were tasty and decently priced
What a great first time experience with close friends! The food and service was top notch but I did not get a chance to try their selection of wine. I had a good portion of fresh bread and seasoned olive oil and ordered the salmon special accompanied with a side order of spiced garlic fries. A great first experience and very close to home.
Wow. Fantastic gem I found last night in American Canyon. The food is fantastic. The ambiance was perfect. The waiter, Rick.....incredible. I almost asked him to sit down at our table. Fantastic service. This guy recited the menu in a way that made you want to order everything on it. When my red snapper arrived, delicious. Can’t rave enough about this restaurant from beginning to end. Graci!!!!!
Visiting from Texas, a friend took my husband and I to lunch here. I have to admit that I was reluctant because I dont care for restaurant food. However, we had a wonderful meal, excellent service and a lovely time, this restaurant is a gem. I would definitely eat here again and recommend this restaurant to friends and family without hesitation.
Delicious food. Atmosphere reminiscent of the era of much-reverred neighborhood Italian restaurants. Attentive staff - some of the very best. This is the second time in the last couple of months that I focused on the choreography of the highly skilled hostess-amazing grasp of everything that is going on. Look forward to my next visit later this week!
Wasnt real impressed with this restaurant. The food was mediocre and I found a hair in my pasta dish. When I let Rick, our waiter, know, he implied there was nobody in the kitchen that had hair and that it had to be my hair. I have red hair and the hair was black. I was charged for the pasta as well. Do not recommend this place.
Food is pretty good for the most part. Some things are basic and not worth the high price, such as spaghetti and marinara sauce. $16 just for that alone, maybe add a salad or drink, then Id be happier. That is what my 7 year old had and it wasnt a big serving at all. I only go here 2 or 3 times a year because I have to save up for it.
The whole place is amazing. A cozy and comfortable yet upscale atmosphere, with the best Italian food Ive found in a 50 mile radius. I highly recommend the gnocci and tiramisu. Also, server Rick is a freaking rock star! Ive been twice so far and was sat in his section both times, and now Ill request him always. Super friendly, outgoing without being pushy, and speedy and accurate.
Very nice restaurant. Wonderful food. Relaxed setting. I have eaten a few times at its sister restaurant in San Pablo. Both of the establishments are excellent. I had spaghetti with meatballs and my wife had fettuccine curpuci (sp?) The portion size was perfect. Not to much to stuff you..just enough were if you wanted a delicious dessert you had room. Very nice wine selection..as it should be so close to the napa valley. My wife and I have found another great Italian spot on this side of the bridge!
The food, as usual, was great. However, our server wasnt as attentive as I remember. It was my birthday, they knew, although I did get a free Tiramisu, in the past Ive gotten a candle and a song. Got none of these. Usually, a server comes and asks how your food is, didnt happen. However, the Hostess and the water server were stellar!
The decor was visually pleasing, but there was something odd about the bread dipping sauce. It seemed as if it was sitting there all day and it wasnt fresh. I thought I was just overthinking but as soon as I ate it, there was a dead fly floating in it. It was to my disgust. Overall, the food was decent.
My wife and I vacation in Napa every year. We make sure we eat at La Strada every visit. For me, although the food is terrific, the restaurant atmosphere and incredible professional service is what I enjoy the most. It was about 9:00 pm when we arrived at the restaurant. I mentioned to the hostess that we were happy they were still open. Her reply was so gracious and friendly, very respectful and professional. The same with our waitress Rebecca, very professional. In an era when so many restaurant employees are part-time temps, service by such professionals really adds to the enjoyment of an otherwise great dining experience. Excellent wine list, fair prices. Excellent Long Island Iced Tea and canoles. Do yourself a favor and eat at La Strada.
Place still looks the same since i last came here last year. Me and my wife had the special of the day. Stuffed pork for me. Wife had the sea food pasta. Pork loin was a bit tuff. Flavor was o.k. didnt finnish. Wifes mixed seafood salmon tasted a bit wired but the rest of the orher seafood ( shrimp and scallops) was fine. She didnt finnish either. We had 2 people serving us. The toung man was always polite everytime we he came by. The lady was nice too. Overall quality went down. I used to like this place. Dont think ill be coming back.
Celebrated my 70th Birthday with my husband, sister-in-law, brother-in-law and very close friend. La Strada hit the mark! From the very beginning and throughout, never have I had Happy Birthday sung to me more beautifully. Our waiter had the most beautiful tenor voice the blend of voice was perfection! Our food was delicious and we felt unrushed and enjoyed much needed conversation.
This place is a hidden gem.. I cant believe Ive lived in the area for 4 years now and havent been in sooner.Authentic Italian food.We had the carpaccio it was a delightful light refreshing dish. Thin slices of soft succulent prosciutto with lemon and capers. The anti pasta dish had unusual and delicious cheeses Ive never had before paired with salami, olives and grilled thin slices egg plant.A must have..For dinner I had the surf and turf speacial. The steak cooked perfectly medium rare and lobster was cooked to my desire.Tiramisu for dessert with a delicious cappuccino. We will definitely be back..
We were provided a 10% off coupon by hotel so gave it a try out first night in Napa. We had the crab ravioli and chicken alfredo. My hubby enjoyed the crab ravioli. I liked the alfredo however the chicken was tasteless. They applied the 10% coupon to the entire bill so left in a good mood and very full.
La Strada has been around for a while. It sits just south of the Napa Dining Valley, that stretch of roadway where you can get meals from $75 to $400, so they are more reasonable in their pricing; a group of 4 with not wine or desert could be out the door for $130, tip included and feel fed...and for that money we had some great food. We had Veal Piccata, Red Snapper, Chicken Divan and Pork Loin with polenta and vegetables. They were all prepared well, we ate it all. They have great bread and olive oil to warm you up as well. It was a leisurely dinner, and the place was not too busy. A great, casual, dining experience just north of American Canyon on Rte. 29.
I really enjoyed our Christmas Eve dinner here. We didnt have a reservation but were seated right away. I loved the Tuscan decor and it was quite cozy with Christmas decorations making it look extra festive. We were greeted with a smile and kind words by the lovely hostess. Our server seemed to be overwhelmed but he did his best. The food-Fried Calamari appetizer for the table to share. The rings were a bit chewy but the tentacles were good. Fried well, good flavor.Baked Sole with veggies a side of pasta -,Delicious. The sauce on the fish was rich and flavorful and the fish was cooked perfectly. Good portion of fish too.Special if the night-linguine with seafood. My daughter said it was really good but that next time shed tell them to hold the calamari. It was chewy. The seafood consisted of, salmon pieces, shrimp, scallops, lobster, mussels and clams. It was in a garlic butter sauce.Veal Marsala with polenta and a side of spinach and Veal Picatta with the same side. - Ive never been a fan of polenta but this polenta was AMAZING. Smoothe, buttery and a hint of spice that I couldnt pinpoint (maybe nutmeg) the veal was tender and the sauce was very good. They provided bread and garlic/herb olive oil that was a great start to the meal.Everything was served hot and fresh and didnt take long at all.Id go back. In fact my son frequents this establishment often, since he lives in Napa.
La Strada was recommended by the concierge at our hotel. We were at the tail end of a long day through Napa, and were looking for something nearby. What a treat! La Strada was a real find. Relaxing, friendly ambiance, delicious entrees, priced right. We werent expecting it, but this turned out to be one of our favorite meals during the trip. I can personally recommend the clam linguini.
I have been going here for years with no issues and out of the blue my friends and I had the worst experience here. The service was horrible and our food came over cooked steak, wrong sauce, and they had the nerve to not want to take their food back. We sent one order back and the waitress act like she didn’t want to come back to the table but managed to wait on everyone else. Never going back
Made a reservation for Father’s day lunch at 12:30, got there about ten minutes early expecting it to be busy. When we went to enter, the front door was locked. We waited a few minutes trying to call the restaurants phone, nobody answered, called a few more times, still no answer. There was also staff in the kitchen, all the doors in the back were open so it’s not like there was no staff.

2022-02-20Love this restaurant. Delicious Italian food and excellent customer service. The Gnocchi with meat sauce is a favorite.

2021-08-24We had the margarita pizza (7/10) and calamari (1/10) as appetizers. The calamari was chewy and had little to no breading on it, I dont know if its always like that or we just got a bad batch but either way we werent fans. The margarita pizza was pretty good, the cheese was my personal favorite part. We then got the soup of the day (8/10) which was delicious. Our entrees were the crab ravioli (9/10) which was absolutely amazing and the meat lasagna (8/10) which was fantastic. Finally we got the bread pudding (8/10) and Lemon gelato (9/10) with some coffee (3/10). The dessert themselves were delicious but the coffee was really watered down. Overall really great and I just realized I spent way too much time making this review.

2022-03-26Great place between American Canyon and Napa. Try the Veal Saltimbocca, its so dang good. And take note that you get veg and POLENTA (not mashed potatoes)

2022-06-01La Strada catered our daughters wedding reception this past weekend at Vino Godfather in Mare Island, CA. The entire experience was amazing. The food was phenomenal and the staff was so friendly. Shout out to Christina who helped organize the menu and the tables from the beginning. I was planning this wedding from across the country. I am so thankful from the bottom of my heart for the guidance and experience.

2020-02-21This is now the second time weve gone here and both times we had a large party. The food is fairly rich so be prepared to enjoy cheese and butter in all their glory. The beet salad is a great change of pace here. The polenta was done excellently with just a hint of sweet to offset the pasta or the gravy.Service wise we had to wait for a lot of dishes but that was because we had so many people in our party. The staff did what they could and thats fine.Online i do think there needs to be a better way to inform the guests which items are not available for which location. We tried to pre order and some of us had to make last second changes because we were not aware.

2022-06-07For authentic Italian food, its hard to find a restaurant with better food. We always eat after wine tasting in the Napa valley.

2019-11-21It doesnt look like much from the outside, but dont let that fool you. The atmosphere on the inside is warm and elegant. The staff is very polite and professional. The food is outstanding! The tomato bisque soup was so delicious, I wanted to lick the bowl! They serve traditional Italian dishes with some fun variations. Everything was fresh and tasty. I cant say enough good things about this place, but I may have to add some comments after I try their tiramisu. ( I ate too much so I had to get it to go.)Ok...its later. OMG! This tiramisu is to die for! Im losing my mind right now!
