This has location, small intimate atmosphere, great tasting food with plenty of options along with a fun staff that’s engaged with the guest. Having a view of the beach and nice covered seating makes this Mexican restaurant top choice for food lovers in the area. The Caribbean Breakfast dish is my favorite but the fresh made chips and salsa are so good to nibble on while waiting for your main dishes. Drink specials are a steal with Bloody Marys with Olives stuffed with Jalepenos. So much to do in Hermosa Beach and this should top your list.
I can see why this place comes up in so many reviews on Trip Advisor it truly is always the hole in the wall places that have the best Mexican! Staff was so friendly and inviting and they had great happy hour specials and some great chips and entrees! Staff was super friendly. This has to be the best Mexican in Hermosa Beach by far! #mexican #beachview #goodservice #boardwalk
First of all this place is so beautiful! The landscaping outside is vibrant and lush. The kind man taking our to go order at the window was so friendly and fun to chat with. I had nachos and it was a huge serving, so tasty. The sangria was in point and my friend had a delicious breakfast dish that was just right for her. All enjoyed at the beach directly across the grassy lawn adjoining the restaurant. Will definitely be coming back!
Really great small Mexican restaurant. The views from inside are great from every table and its filled with natural light. The food was great and the device was quick, making it the perfect spot to get breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I would definitely come back the next time Im in the Hermosa Beach area.
This is a hidden treasure. It’s a small, cozy restaurant right in front of the beach. The food has been always delicious. My favorite one is the healthy breakfast: eggs with vegetables; it includes fruit and bread. The prices are surprisingly not expensive at all. The staff treats you kindly.♿️ accessible. No parking. You have to look for it on the street.Cash and cards are accepted.
Ive been going here for years, the food is always delicious, the service is stellar!! The view of the ocean and location couldnt be better! Their margaritas are delicious. I usually order the Caribbean breakfast, the mango chutney and seasoning of the eggs is SO YUMMY! highly recommend
Went there for breakfast after morning meditation on the beach. cute little place, ocean view, but what really stood out was the service. our waitress (Im trying so hard to remember her name!) was excellent. I cant really pinpoint it, but when someone does their job really well (and the service industry isnt the easiest) it makes your experience even better. intuitive might be the right word, idk. food was delicious...I could barely walk to the car lol...
This beach convenient Mexican cafe is awesome for a quick bite and run to the beach! A cozy little outdoor patio and a tropical bird filled indoor dining area! Total beach comber attitude with Mexican flair! Super helpful and courteous staff!Shots, beer and a good time for all In this beach adjacent spicy gem.
Absolutely 💯, the food and service here has been consistently great for decades, real authentic Mexican food created with love and care for their patrons, and the prices are great too, Ive had everything on the menu at least a dozen times and it is always fantastic, great place to eat inside or outside, noble park is adjacent to the restaurant so sunsets and great food beverages are a winning combination.
Food was good. Their tortilla chips are homemade and loveable! It was happy hour, and the Margaritas were cheap and tasty. Service was good, it was one lady, probably the owner and handled all the tables in a timely fashion. I tried going back to dine one more time before leaving the LA area but didnt make it.
We stopped here after a long beach walk and Im so glad we did! It was recommended to us by someone local and when we passed by, we decided to try it out. Everything about this was a good visit. The staff was very friendly and sociable, the food was fresh and tasty and the atmosphere was wonderful! The prices were also very reasonable compared to most other places in the area. We sat out on the back porch and were able to watch the sun setting with a nice breeze coming through the windows. Our server, Enrique, was excellent and made the visit very fun! It happened to be my birthday and when my boyfriend asked if they could do anything special, our server brought me a muffin and lit a toothpick for a candle! It was so fun and will be something I remember forever, Im sure. I would definitely recommend visiting La Playita if you are looking for a great place to eat in the area.
Good Mexican restaurant by the beach. It gets crowded but not too long of a wait, at least when we went there today, 1st time too. I liked the customer service, very attentive, friendly & good atmosphere altogether. Good food, I tried to eat as much as I can, but my mouth kept saying some more & my tummy said better stop, definitely have to come back & have to try another drink other than the sangria margarita (had 2 😏, it was refreshing with the food). Its a little cute place but feels homey. Highly recommend to try when youre around the South Bay area, especially Hermosa Beach. Oh after lunch, we walked for 30 mins @ the Annual Fiesta in the downtown Hermosa, so much fun!!!
Considering the covid situation i’ll give them the benefit of an extra star. Besides that it was pretty awful. Waited 40 or so minutes for a bland burrito that could have been made in 15 minutes or less. Sauce was awful, and most of the contents of said burrito you could find at your local taco bell. I can understand a busy restaurant and especially with the covid situation, but the burrito that I waited for was not worth the 40 minutes.
First off I waited so long for someone to help me I had to get a menu myself. I got a burrito which was OK (at best) no spicy salsa, lime, or pico de gallo in it or on the side. Freshness 7/10 Then I ordered a LARGE orange juice but the cup seemed like a small. I asked the worker if that was really a large and she said yes (refer to picture) so I figured it must be a hand made Orange Juice but when I took a sip it tasted like regular Minute Maid juice.
This place is a hidden gem that I cant believe still exists given Hermosas march toward genericism. The vibe here is classic beach culture, and the food has been impressively consistent over the years. Somehow I always manage to find parking too.The breakfast is killer, and I dont think Ive ever had to wait for a table even on the weekend. Best part? Somehow they have a full liquor license so you can get a pretty solid margarita too.Typically this place would be five stars, but the server was a bit off the mark on my last visit. Everyone was still super friendly... especially the host/manager who is always really welcoming.Spend your money here before it becomes another bank or crossfit or hip restaurant clone.
Had lunch w/ a family member. The food was quick n delicious, w/ generous portions but the star was our waiter Martin. He was gregarious, attentive, and made the experience even better. Prices were very reasonable being that we had a billion $ view if the Pacific Ocean and Strand. The place has a homey feeling, quaint casual. Im only going to share w/ a few friends so that the prices stay the same (lol). Thanks Martin 👍👍👍👍👍
Amazing experience. Rice and beans cooked perfectly. Santa Fe enchiladas were great. The green salsa is tart and flavorful. One of the best breakfast places I’ve ever had. Would have liked a Bloody Mary without Clamato but overall still 10/10. Service from Martín was perfect!
Oh my goodness, this place has some tasty food. Its unfortunate that I only thought to review it after I had already devoured most of this massive Combination Burrito, or I would take a picture. The burrito was around $9, and I had that classic question in the back of my mind when I ordered Is this going to be one of those little burritos with a huge side of rice and beans? Nope. A monster bathed in a peppered red sauce (delicious) came to greet me.Definitely would recommend this restaurant. Also the fresh chips and salsa are amazing.
We have been going to La Playita for breakfast for years. It is a small Mexican cafe that looks out across a small park to the Hermosa Beach strand and beach. Has both a patio and interior space. The food never disappoints and it is a fantastic place to watch beach activities and culture.
This is the second time here and I love it. Breakfast burrito for brunch isnt bad idea at all. Friendly staff, fresh tasty food and reasonable prices. If I can recommend anything here, it would be speeding up the service a bit, other than that you guys doing great. Thanks!
A little restaurant, nestled in Hermosa Beach, just off the boardwalk, that serves Mexican and American food. It has an amazing view of the beach and the chili cucumber Margarita was on point. I had huevos rancheros and it wasnt impressive, especially for the price. The service was good.
I absolutely love this place. Ive been coming here for at least 20 years now though it is hard to count. The food is consistently delicious and I love how they really make an effort to make everything clean and healthy without trying to be overly pushy on making you be healthy. Makes it so easy to order knowing that whatever I get will have healthy ingredients. Its a classic mexican place in hermosa beach and I support business owners who keep the charm of old hermosa alive and well.I LOVVVVEEE the shrimp enchiladas and the nachos. The burritos too are amazing as are the tacos.I find the wait staff to be very accommodating and friendly especially when you solo dine which isnt always the most comfortable way to dine so I appreciate them making an effort for me. It can get very busy here which means you might have to wait, but thats just because the demand for tacos is so high :)
We were not welcomed and left! The waitress made me move my stroller with my sleeping baby twice! I positioned it out of the entry/exit and she didnt like it because it was behind some chairs that were NOT being occupied. The people seated at that table even confirmed. I then placed the stroller in the entry/exit side of our table as close to our table as i could get it. Another woman passed with her stroller and was easily able to go through and she then wanted to move us somewhere else when we decided to leave. This waitress was very rude and had poor manners.
This place is awesome! Try the Daniella Burrito! Muy Incrediblé! The atmosphere and staff are excellent as well . Awesome outdoor patio with great views of the park and the beach. The inside is a little cramped so may have to park the stroller outside, but the staff is friendly and willing to work with you and satisfy your needs. Feeling like a refreshing margarita after a day at the beach? Come here! Also the fresh chips and salsa are muy delicioso tambien. Will be back soon for breakfast as its also super good. La Playita is my JAM.
Amazing margarita, great authentic mexican food, fun staff, even though system failure for the credit card machine the staff kept us infromed, tried to be as accomidating as they could and ehen we asked they were able to tally our bill manually. Also, left my phone on table and they chased me down the steeet to return it. Thanks for the great service!
Ordered machaca con huevo and there was barely machaca in it. It is also overpriced, you can find the same meal at Olvera street for a few dollars less. We did not get any refills on drinks and the waitress seem like she just wanted to send us on our way. The place looks cute and the bathroom is very clean.

2021-07-22Fantastic cozy little place just spitting distance away from the sand near the Hermosa Beach Pier.I had a very good version of huevos rancheros on a blue corn tortilla for a fraction of the cost that Ive come to expect from any beachfront establishment. The portions here also incredibly generous. The interior is cozy and rustic, and the table service was pretty quick! This is going to be my go-to spot every time I come out to surf.

2021-08-04Great bang for your buck with plenty of vegetarian options. The food was definitely filling and they gave plenty of chips and salsa while we were waiting.

2022-06-16Food is bland. I purchased the chicken fajitas plate that had no flavor(Im negative for COVID). My GF ordered the chilaquiles, again, no flavor drenched in tomatillo sauce. As a Mexican-Amercican, I can taste whats from can and whats not. The salsa taste like Pace Picante.Theres nothing authentic about this place except for my jente waiting and servicing. No reason to go back. It takes alot for me to leave a review on Yelp, so, says alot.

2022-07-01Wonderful food and friendly staff at a great price in a great location. Only wish the windows on the patio were clear so we could see the water better.
