The pizza is sooooo good!!!! This pizza is delicious and does not make you feel heavy after eating. Everything is fresh! And our server Michelle was the sweetest! Even tho we had her going back and forth she always had a sweet smile and her customer service was the BEST!!!!
Long-time family-based business in the heart of Old Chula Vista. The pizza is FANTASTIC (I think its the sauce) & the service was also great. Good for both fast pick-up and comfortable dining in, + theres a bar in the back! Front dining room was quiet (where we sat), but if you want the sports those are on in the second dining room. Really a gem of a place - will definitely be back for that pizza.
Gets great reviews so I am definitely in the minority. The marinara sauce tastes like those little cans of tomato paste. The pesto pasta was just as bad. It had very little pesto flavor or color. It tasted like heavily buttered pasta. Pizza was also a miss. Antipasto salad was OK.
I have to share my experience about last night. We came in on a Tuesday night to celebrate my sons 20th birthday. We were told it would be a 30 min wait and it ended up being more like 1 hr, that’s fine, we understood. Once rudely seated by the older man with the glasses, he noticed we had a birthday cake and said that there would be an extra $9.00 charge for the cake. I didn’t understand what he meant because we have celebrated birthdays here before… many times, with cake!! He said that the $9.00 was for the use of plates and silverware.. 😒. I had never been charged anywhere… ! So I said “no, we will take the cake home and cut it there”! we literally left with the cake and didn’t get a chance to sing happy birthday to my son. If I wasn’t as hungry as I was, and had already waited as long as I did, I would have left. Luckily our waitress was very pleasant. Unlike the older man with the glasses!
Been coming here for over 10 years. Was looking forward to what we remembered to have great food and service. Not the case. Customer service is terrible to the full extent of the word. The waitress does not come around at all. Not for our table, not for any table around us. Sat for over 20 min without being asked for our drinks I had to go to the counter to ask. I asked for Pepsi/coke, they were out, so they decided to pour Sierra Mist without even asking what else we prefer. Okay make the choice for us? Then waited about 30 min to place our order; wings, salad, pizza, and pasta. Simple. Order finally came but WRONG. No salad ever came, pizza was wrong and also the pasta was wrong. The wings that were once delicious were tiny, and bloody. The worse part is no regard for the customer. No one cares. The waitress did not care to come around. We will not be coming here any longer. This is not the first time with bad service and messing up our order. Sad after all these years my family and friends will NO LONGER chose to come here. We love to support our local businesses and community but every time we come it’s getting worse and worse. You lost a group of 10 today
Great experience. Entrance was kinda confusing so make sure you tell then you want to eat in.. Then theyll take you too the back to be seated. Lol. Calzones are full pizza size and the twisted fries were amazing. Their expanding too! Awesome place. Get food and service!
This place has been here, since I can remember. At least 50 plus years. Their food is so delicious, and the staff is wonderful. A perfect place to bring the family, or catch up with old friends. They have a full bar and the bartender,is great. Try this place. You will NOT be disappointed.
We met up with some friends here one night, and while we didnt get any food, it looked DELICIOUS. Will definitely try next time. However, what this place is a wine bar, and luckily it is also what it excels at. The bartenders are EXTREMELY knowledgeable, and most importantly, not pretentious. Every recommendation by every bartender hit the spot. And these guys actually make eye contact with you/talk to you when you get up to the counter. Its like you exist! Amazing. Its certainly not uncommon for a place of this caliber to have some attitude, once again showing the superiority of Los Feliz (and surrounding area) over the snotty west side.
Got pizzas and games. Service was pretty lacking but the pizza was good and they were clearly very busy. Didnt like that they charge for refills, even for the child cup and that we couldnt find our server any time we needed her. Overall we had fun playing with the kiddo but it was just okay.
My family has enjoyed coming to La Bellas since a few years and the taste is amazing, very good food. However, I must say that I am disappointed with the customer service. Today I came in with my kids to dine in, and the host was very rude, asked me to write my name in the waiting list, more people came in they were seated right away but she made is wait (she asked my kids not to run, but the tone and way she would talked to me, made me think she is racist!) Three parties came and were seated, she said “you need to wait”. Honestly, I am very disappointed with the service, we decided to leave the restaurant because they would not help us.
We popped in for a quick bite after a movie and had an exceptional time there. We ordered the small pizza and it was plenty for the 2 of us. We each had 2 pieces and we ordered the white sauce version, not the tomato sauce version and it was awesome. Well be going back again soon!
YES! Home environment good pizza good down to earth service! This place is big too! You get dining area with table service or a small pick up with a counter to grab a quick bite as well as at the other end a bar with TVs....followed by a whole arcade game area! Alchohol available at all of these by the way. The pizza stuffed and cheesy very quick and delicious ! Loved it will be back
Horrible experience, poor customer service, especially the manager Juan he had a very rude attitude, was being terrible to the customers and putting his employees down infront of customers, not cool. I usually support local businesses and family owned businesses but this will be the last time I bring my family here.
Generous toppings on the pizza. Well balanced between cheese, sauce, meat and fruit (we got the Hawaiian). The crust could be better, but thats a small concern. The spring salad also was generous with sunflower seeds, cranberries and feta cheese. The mixed greens were fresh. The cheesecake was nice and creamy. The staff was friendly and quick. Even on a busy Saturday night. Nice place!
Oh, TraderJoe’s how do I love thee??? Let me count the ways-1. Your clean, bright, and fun stores.2. Your AMAZING customer service!3. Your fabulous array of fine foods4. Your ability to always make me happy… seriously!Just go. See how happy you are by the time you leave with all your treasures.
We visited La Bellas on a Friday night and surprisingly the wait was minimal We got a table in the gaming section of the restaurant wich was perfect for us just to let our kids run loose while we enjoyed a beer our food came out quickly pizza and wings were very good and service was great overall we had a good experience I highly recommend this place
The mighty hot pastrami sandwich! Nothing from another world and everything about the other world. La Bellas offers a pretty good size menu with pastas and pizza but we come to la Bellas for the hot pastrami sandwich since is super bomb! Get yours with melted provolone cheese.. thank you Jesus for La Bellas
My father, ate here and introduced us to La Bellas in the early sixties. Many years later...forty five to be exact I came in and ordered a special made pizza. HOW on earth can this family make the exact same pizza I grew up eating as a child? I wasnt prepared for such a perfect Italian culinary delight. Most restaurants change hands and recipes seem to suffer alongside the customers. Not so with La Bellas. They remain Italian perfection at its best. This was the only place my Poppa would buy pizza and its comforting to know its still here and the food is still perfect. You folks are an icon in Chula Vista. A historical gem indeed. Thank you for remaining here. The Vuscovichs!
Great pizza and some of the best wings around! We love the food and Christmas Eve has become something of tradition for our family coming here. But for some reason the staff werent up to par this time, and my family were being told that theyd be closing soon even though we still had time on the pool table and they werent scheduled to close for more then an hour. That and the staff started cleaning off our table while we were playing games and still had our personal belongings there (and its not like it was extremely busy like pre-covid days), and asking for a pitcher of water was even a chore, with 4 people standing around behind the cash register.I still stand by the food though. Hopefully on our next visit the staff will be more grateful that were spending our hard earned money there.
Stopped in for a quick sandwich. We had pastrami and a Italian sub. The pastrami was great. The torpedo was ok. The waitress who was very nice explained there are many types of subs and I think we just choice the wrong one. Next time well both have the pastrami which is always delicious. Service was great. Everyones friendly.
I have been going to La Bella for over 40 years and I used to deliver for them back in the 80s, I may be a bit bias but it has been consistently great. I have only 2 comments about them though, 1. I wish the game room was open more often and either expanded or added more/better arcade games, maybe even a few nostalgia games like Centipede and Galaga. And 2. this has been an issue of mine since day 1 that even though the food and pizzas are fantastic, I have always wished the toppi gs could be on TOP of the cheese instead of underneath so they cook a little, especially the pepperoni. There are few things better than a slightly charred piece of pepperoni on slightly browned cheese, with just the right amount of sauce, and a delicately crispy crust...La Bella gets 3 out of 4 of those just right. I think if they changed this one little detail it would be the perfect pie IMHO, but I get that its kind of their thing and most likely will always be...Other than that though the service has always been awesome and they can accommodate large groups as they have several rooms and an upstairs area as well that can also be reserved/rented.
It saddens me that I gave this place one star. This place is really awesome and the staff is really cool, but tonight (12.26.21) my party of 8 came into the La Bella Café and Games entrance because we were told that the restaurant was short staffed so there were only very few tables available and since we had a bigger party wed be better served on the other side, which is understandable. The problem is with the hostess she was pretty rude to begin with, but I tried to understand since it was a busy night. The wait was one hour and thirty minutes, we were on our way out but then the owner, Tony came out and asked for our parties name and asked what we were waiting for, my friend let him know that we were waiting for a friend that had to use the restroom and that we werent staying because the wait was too long. Tony said, no, there is no way the wait is that long, give me a moment and youll be seated shortly. We stuck around then Tony asked the hostess to give us a table and she told him no, that there was a waiting list and we had many parties ahead of us, which to be honest there were no parties waiting because she was rudely turning them away. So my friend asked if we were going to get a table and she proceeded to tell us in a rude tone that it was one hour and thirty minute wait. Said that Tony doesnt know what he was talking about. My husband asked to talk to Tony since we were told that we were going to be seated and the hostess was refusing to give us a table after she was told by the owner to do so. The hostess rolled her eyes and asked for Tony, and Tony then said to take the corner table that has not been used, there were several tables available and no parties were coming in, she called a party for Rachael and they were a no show. I could not believe how rude this hostess was, wish I knew her name, but she had purple streaks in her hair and really looks unhappy working there. I mean she was rude to us she was rude to other people was even rude to the owner! We decided to leave as we did not want trouble and did not want our food to get spit on. Thank you Tony for trying to get us a table, but perhaps your staff needs to reminded who the boss is there. She should be grateful she has a job because these days not everyone can afford a living here barely even keep a decent job.
I rarely take the time to leave a comment as I don’t think many owners read or care about customers opinions but I had to say something. The soda was flat, the wings and Alfredo tasted off, and my pizza was a little soggy but tasted good. My kid had more sense then me and refused to eat it. The waiter must have known because when he asked if we wanted to take it home the look and pause from my kid prompted him to say it doesn’t taste good huh. I wish I followed my kids good sense. I wasn’t going to let $50 bucks go down the drain but now I’ve been sick in the bathroom for the last hour. This will be the last time I go to this business.
There pizza was the best I ever had in California. Ive been living here since 1978. I am originally from NYC and Im Italian. It was perfectly balanced, just the right amount of sauce and cheese and the thin crust was nice. The only thing I would change is that the crust could be a little crispier. It was still a nice thin crust.
Step into the past. This is a classic Italian restaurant. Raised pizza holders, everything drenched in marinara, tall tufted black seats, wood panel wall covering, family meals, wine deals, dim lighting, it’s fantastic. If you love old style Italian food go here. I will definitely go back and bring friends with me. Next time I will update and add photos.
The food and decor are so good, and popular, at La Bellas that they do not need my praise. La Bellas is definitely a family and friends place, its decor stemming from its opening, in 1955. As for the food, I had the best pizza I have ever had, tonight -- pineapple and sausage -- so rich and smooth that it seemed like stuffed pizza!
The building with the games seemed like a lot of fun but overall Ive never felt so discriminated against in all of my life visiting this restaurant. Also the main building smells weird. My friends and I were racially profiled and treated less than human and told that we couldnt be served outside and couldnt drink outside when another couple was served and allowed to drink wine outside. It makes no sense. We were not unruly and had 3 small children with us at the time.
Have you ever wanted something so bad!!!! The Hot Pastrami sandwich has been one of my favorite things at La Bella’s for years.Today, we got to sit inside among the atmosphere and charm that we deeply missed over the past year. The take out is really good, but dining in is way better..I had a hot pastrami and fries. Hot, fresh and it tasted much better than I remember. The bread was so fresh and the pile of meat was awesome. We sat in the bar area with two other people and then a group of five came in. Plenty of space for eating and “my pod”. The bar tender was great and the food today was exceptional!! I have been coming here for over 50 years and it is very consistent and sooo good!!!
Ust went there, it is only the second time I have eaten here. It is a nice place, its a bit older than other restaurants that I have been to, but the people are nice the food is not over priced and they have the BEST garlic Bread! Love it.. I would keep coming back just for the garlic sourdough bread! and its only $1 per little basket (2 slices cut in half). Now they also have a bar ( I dont drink so did not check it out) but they have dinning areas away from the bar. I also understand there is a game room in this place. I have not been to it, think its the building next door. So yea if you like Italian/American Food, go ahead and give them a chance. And get the sourdough garlic bread!
La Bellas pizza has been around for years. Went back to Chula Vista for a visit and decided to try la Bellas again about 35 years after my first visit. It was really good. The pizza was tasty. Service was good and the outdoor seating was comfortable. Parking was plentiful in the back of the building. The chicken tender appetizers were a favorite at our table. When in Chula Vista on third Ave I highly recommend stopping in.
I placed 2 Orders of wings and quality of the meat was not the best. One order of wings was half the size of the second order of wings.Edit to my review: you have responded to my review saying wings were not available at your restaurant. I purchased this on August 2nd. Pictures speak a thousand words. Check it out yourself!
Okay so Im rating my experience for this time only. Weve been here many times and its very Hit or Miss LOL....One time I found a receipt in my sandwich and literally took a bite out of it. Other times they make the wrong sandwiches or they dont make them incorrectly (i.e. no cheese or they add onion, which my husband hates). I always feel like I have to check my order and make sure its correct before I actually drive home. But we really like the turkey torpedoes and the oil and vinegar. The subs are huge and youre getting your moneys worth. The small cheese pizza is great for kids meal as well.I think coming here you shouldnt expect a lot but if you have a good experience then just be grateful.
Unfortunately La bellas Arcade side and dining was closed done for renovations . We got seated in the bars side family of 16 the bartender Woman who wear glasses and a braid , she gave us the vibe that she didnt want us seated there . We would ask for rounds of mixed beverages soda in pitchers water in pitchers and for the adults alcoholic beverages . Everytime we would ask for more beverages kindly , she would literally snatch our cups or pitchers from our hands rudely like she didnt want to attend to us . It was a terrible experience . You can tell she didnt want us seated in the bar area !
The works pizza.....scrump dilly ishious! Soo good. The best pizza I ever ate! The toppings, lots of fresh veggies and big hunks of sausage total yum o! My friends and family all told me they have great food here. Finally got a chance to try it. Ill definetly be back. I wanna try the pasta next. The sauce on the pizza had lots of spices, I could taste oregano for one. This is gonna be my go to place for pizza from now on!
My family has been coming here for 2 generations going on 3, can’t imagine better pizza and definitely worth the price. I miss the old boneless wings but luckily they didn’t cheap out on us and got some equally as good ones ! Employees are always helpful and have a good attitude, have never EVER had a bad experience here.
Ok I know we are in the times we are in , it was busy we were seated at a table that was dirty we were ok with that when the guy finally came in to clean the table he wiped everything on us,plus left crumbs on the table. We ordered a large pizza an order of buffalo wings (sauce on side) and cheesy garlic bread. The food was good , my daughter really enjoyed the wings and the bread minus the cheese. It was a bit chilly for us inside. We had to ask for our check and a box to go. Otherwise was ok .
When you order a Caesar salad to go they are selling you a do-it-yourself kit just under their price please never buy it to go I guarantee you you will be disappointed if I would have known I would have done it at home cheaper if the owner is reading consider selling it mixed when they pick it up please
Im mixed regarding the food. We had a pie...anti pasta...calamari...my memory of the place years ago was one where they were they were in fierce competition with Felipes pizza...the pizza crust...meh...anti pasta...meh...calamari...on point...would I do it again...I dont think so...I do miss the la bellas of old....big sigh....
La Bellas Italian Restaurant and Take Out! Cafe coming soon. Long time Chula Vista favorite. Free club membership with FREE Bday meal, (gave me dessert too). Great staff. Hard working with smiles. Went for 1st date for my Love GF Susan. But b/c COVID times dine only then!Dining in was great 2 smaller rooms, 8-12 tables ea. And a medium sized BACK bar, with coming cafe out back & patio. Large Take Out front area where even on Sunday night busy ALL night!! Close to park and parking garage, side lot too (G & 3rd). Pleasant atmosphere with some action with TV and lil noise in bar. Not too roudy, but definitely ALIVE!!!Prices $$, maybe $ with new pricing after COVID now. TIP Well, smile & enjoy. Dozens of staff working on Sunday night. Always more than a handful! Photos after this weekend.
It was good not great. Be careful when booking on open table, there seems to be some confusion as to whether you belong at the Cafe or Garden. We checked in at the Garden and told to go to the Cafe, then told we should be at the Garden. Fortunately, the staff at the Cafe was much friendlier than the Garden and sat us.Wings are lightly breaded and fried, the buffalo sauce was very good. The pizza was good, but have had better.
Driving past this eatery looked interesting enough to have dinner with my family. We orderd the Kitty style 4 to taste there basic menue choices. First came the antipasta salde which was desent along side the butter toast that had no garlic. Spagittie with red sauce and pizza followed out immediately. The pasta tased as if they poured it stright out of the can. Pasta left Strange after taste. Very unsettling. Our server Cristen gladly offered us alfredo pasta to fix the issue, but it was even more dissatifying calling her back over asking for the check, and a box for the pizza and salde. Once again Cristen offered to fix the problem with take home frozen brownies to take home and enjoy. Once at home we thought thrird times the charm we opened the brownies and realized it was extreamly undercooked. My 5 year old son started vomiting. Cristen has great customer service too good to be comming up with excusses for her bossess recipes that are flavorless and disgusting.

2021-12-02Stumbled across this place while visiting Chula. The place is big, plenty of seating, and has a nice traditional Italian menu. I wasnt too impressed with the crust on my pizza, it seemed cracker-like if thats a good way of explaining it. But I did enjoy the pizza. I enjoyed my Cesar salad, and the beer was on point. The highlight was the server. Amanda gave great service, made my wife a fresh pot of coffee, and kept my beers coming! All and all I was satisfied

2021-10-09La Bella is a Chula Vista institution. Their arcade and pool hall are awesome for families with kids. It’s definitely a really fun hang out spot on family or game nights. The food is pretty good for the most part. The pizzas, jalapeño poppers, and salads are all really great choices. I’d generally avoid their spaghetti options — the tomato and marinara sauces they use on them are rather bland. The bar is great! A lot of choices and good draft beers with a fun staff. Come on down to La Bella for great pizza and beer, plus a game or two of pool!

2022-07-02When I looked this place up online I figured it would be decent, but Holy Cats that was so good! We ordered small portions of everything and still had leftovers. All the pasta tasted fresh, everything was seasoned well and was served hot. The staff was kind abs attentive. We will totally be back.

2021-12-14Well it was nice to be back. The place was clean and remodeled. It looked brighter. The pizza was not like before thats all I can say. It was lacking flavor same for the pasta and salad. Yes even the salad, it had mostly oil not dressing or vinegar. The Italian ice cream is delicious though. A family of 4 can eat here for $50 plus a tip. Arcade is open. Pool tables are open too. Overall had a nice time even though food wasnt great. A little disappointed in the pizza, it was also a little undercooked (baked) and missing salt or something....update I went back and tried the kicking bbq wings, soooo good spicy hot and delicious. The kids wanted to play in the arcade again we also tried the ice cream yum.

2022-01-20Ordered the Chicken Pizza and had it delivered. When they delivered it and after driver left I opened the box and almost all toppings were on one side. Like if driver hit the brakes or if pizza fell down. Wasnt able to really enjoy my pizza.

2022-04-20This is a great place to enjoy a bite to eat along with the entire family. Between the TVs, pool tables and video games, there is plenty to choose from for everyone. They also have a great selection of food items on the menu including their delicious pizzas which are always so great. Today we ordered The Works which was a combination of different vegetables, sausage and pepperoni. They were busy at the time we ordered but it took about 20 minutes to get our fresh pizza, which I thought was an excellent turn around on Easter Sunday. The people who work there are great and always have a smile on their faces when taking care of their customers. I would recommend arriving early for large groups, but definitely believe theyre a great option for a special occasion or simply a night out to watch the game.
