Gorgeous park overlooking many of San Diegos iconic destination points, including downtown San Diego, La Jolla, etc. Its such a lovely place to feel the sunshine and sea breezes while enjoying this park. Thanks to all the people who have created and protected these natural spaces over the decades. Bring your hula hoop or Yoga mat. If you want to walk your dog there, make sure its on a leash; this is not a leash-free park.
Obviously this park is amazing! It may not be the ocean view everyone wants in a coastal city, but the view of San Diego and its downtown from Kate Sessions park really cant be beat. Ive spent lots of perfect afternoons here camped out on a picnic blanket with a book. (One of those afternoons was Valentines Day, and the park was packed). One thing you should know is that people will let their dogs off leashes all over this park, so watch out for excited puppies.
Love this park so much... best one in the PB/crown point area... I only wish there was a little bit more respect between dog owners and my little children... dogs off leash can be a bit of a nuisance. Everyone thinks their dog is perfectly friendly, but the truth is they may not be properly socialized to kids and/or babies, and whatever else someone might have... dump trucks... noise making toys... racecars. We just cant trust every dog or their owner even if we keep our distance. Generally we stay away from the dog field but also it is illegal to have dogs off leash during certain hours. No one is ever there to enforce it anyway and even if they were there you cant catch everyone. I like dogs. I want my kids to like dogs too, which means not getting attacked by a nervous or overexcited one.
Fantastic park with great city views. We went on a busy and pretty day and didnt have trouble finding parking right outside even though the interior lot was full. The bathroom was relatively clean and there was plenty of room for plenty of people to have their own space. Saw some wonderful dogs, fun themed parties, and a wedding ceremony, so definitely a versatile location!
Absolutely gorgeous park! Great sweeping views of San Diego, the bay, ocean, and in the back you can see tijuana mexico. Great picnic spot as you can see in my pics. Come and watch the sunset. Parking like everywhere in San Diego is tight. Better to park further away and walk.
This place is one of the most magical places in all of San Diego! I would highly recommend taking a day off and coming here and having a picnic with your most treasured family members. It’s dog friendly but keep your pooch on a leash! The view of San Diego here is incredible and you’re able to see the Pacific Ocean, Mission Bay, and Downtown all from one Vista!
The views are of the best you will see in San Diego and the park is well manicured. It was very nice to see the American flag flying proudly in the cool breeze. One of the nicest parks in the city.I had only one issue, It appears that Kate Sessions park had turned into a dog park. There were nearly 10 dogs off leash while I was visiting though there was a sign stating all dogs are to be on leash at all times. There were no issues with dogs at the park but just be aware.
This is mainly a dog park where people with dogs like to go to disobey the sign that states to keep the dogs on leash & pick up the poop. When I was there the dogs were friendly & the majority of the owners did pick up the poop. There are always a few that cant read. Great place to overlook the valley.
I just visited this park for the first time and OH MY GOODNESS it must have the most beautiful views of all San Diego! It overlooks Mission Bay where your can see boats in the distance as you relax and picnic with kites flying by. It is so breathtakingly gorgeous and very enjoyable for fun in the sun, a romantic or family picnic, or athletics.
Nice views of downtown SD and ocean. A bit busy even on weekdays. It is a dog friendly park but some of the owners are unleashing their dogs and letting them run around and jump on to anyone. They are supposed to be leashed all the time. Minus one star thanks to them.
This is a great place to take your dog for a play date on weekdays after 4pm. Keep in mind, dogs are not allowed off leash, but you won’t see many dogs on leash at this time of day. Not recommended to go with a dog on the weekend, as more “non” dog people will be there and they may call animal control. Great views of the Bay and Seaworld all the way to Coronado and Downtown.
What a gem in San Diego. Spectacular view of downtown and the shoreline. The park is beautiful and well cared for. People are very relaxed and its no hassle with a large parking lot. Kids love the nice playground area. This is a wonderful spot to come relax, read, have lunch, enjoy the sunshine. Dogs are welcome. Do yourself a favor and grab your blanket or chair and come up here on a nice day. Youll feel better when you leave.
Its supposed to be a park for humans god forbid but its full of dogs unleashed altough the sign clearly says dogs to be leashed 24 hours of the day then you report it after the dog comes to run after you or jump on your picnic mat with no responce and even the owners are not aroubd to get their dog even when they see you afraid and screaming.
Beautiful view and well kept park clean bathrooms and the grass was well kept and cut and there was a nice paved walking path and I was also able to find parking easily! Everyone cleaned up after themselves and there are a lot of friendly dogs 🐶 some of the are off the leash and came and said hello to my dog who we kept on the leash.
It was my first time here yesterday and the view was absolutely breathtaking, as well as the atmosphere itself. Many people brought their dogs here for them to run around at the park and I had so much petting all of them. I highly recommend this park for anyone who is looking for a place to relax because this is IT!
Gorgeous views! If youre coming here without a dog, make sure you are a dog lover. Even though there are multiple signs posted that dogs must remain on leash many owners do not abide by this so be prepared to meet many curious and friendly pooches.Picnic benches are hard to come by so also be ready to sit on the ground or bring your own chair, and one that can tolerate being on an incline. There are plenty of shady spots and plenty of room to spread out from others. Parking can be difficult so plan extra time. Overall, beautiful spot!
I LOVE this park! The view is incredible. You can see all of Mission bay, downtown and the ocean. (Not the best for sunset because the hill faces you south and the trees block the west) This is the best unofficial off leash dog park. If you want an outdoor happy hour, this is the place. Dogs galore once 5 oclock hits. Occasionally theres the sour puss that yells at people for not having their dogs on the leash but pretty much everyone else there is on the same page. There are restrooms and a good amount of parking.
Easily the best view from any park in San Diego. You can see as far south as Downtown and the Coronado bridge. And all of Mission Bay and Beach. The sloped grass area is perfect for a picnic (you’ll need to bring your own blanket/chairs, since the facilities are limited). The biggest issue is parking as the lot is relatively small for the demand. So on weekends with nice weather be prepared to park on the street and walk.
This is a great park for dogs (they must be leashed even though you will see a lot of dogs off the leash and playing with other dogs) one side is just grass and open fields and the other side is fields for soccer and a playground. There are restroom facilities and picnic areas. The views of the bay are amazing. This park is usually very busy.
Beautiful, as always. Expect a lot of people here with the ease of restrictions and no other open social bars etc. People wear their masks on the way in and out but once sitting down with their group take them off. Otherwise, everyones following social distancing rules pretty well.
Dogs used to be allowed to run free. This made for great fun with family and friends, used to be one of the best places in town to go for families with dogs. Now big posters mark the park as a dogs on leash only zone. The view of San Diego from the top of the hill is still amazing.
This is my all-time favorite park in San Diego. The views cannot be beat. They used to have concerts here during the summer that were just perfect. Hope the concerts resume now that things are opening up after COVID. The park is basically one big hillside, so dont count on a bunch of flat areas, but honestly it is the BEST park. We go here to have coffee and a bagel very early in the morning when only a handful of people walking their dogs are here. So beautiful and peaceful.
This is an Amazing Location for pictures of the San Diego geography. There is also a playground for little ones to play or plenty of space to have a picnic with Wonderful Views. So wheather Enjoying the Sun or Taking in the Stars at night this Location is a Must See Experience.
Amazing park BUT if you have a dog that does not like when random dogs stare them down then sprint at the them full speed, or maybe your dog has been attacked before and is still learning to trust other dogs, or if you have a child and don’t want them to get knocked over by an untrained dog, or if you want to have a picnic with friends here without an untrained dog eating your lunch, then sadly you will not be able to enjoy this amazing park meant for the public. There are far too many off-leash dogs even though this is currently a leash only park. And yes, I’ve seen all those things happen there. But hey, great views!
Parking was rough here. But you have an amazing view of the city. Not to mention at the right time, the fireworks. Luckily they have easy to access restrooms, but other than chilling and view their isnt much to do. Which isnt exactly bad just like I said, not much to do.
Incredible view of the San Diego coast and bays. The lawns are all well kept and there are hiking trails as well as a playground. There is a fair amount of parking but you may need to park somewhere on one of the side streets when the park is busy. A public restroom is available during operating hours. Bring a blanket and a picnic basket! This is a great place for watching the sunset.
Kate Sessions park is a great place to visit if youre in PB. Its usually busiest in the evenings — its a great place to see the sunsets. Despite the signs claiming it is a leashed park, dogs run free. Most all of them are incredibly well behaved. :)The parking lot can fill up, but there is plenty of street parking as well. The views are hard to beat!
This is the most beautiful park to ever exist. On a gorgeous hill overlooking the beach, bay, downtown, and the mountains. It’s beauty is almost overwhelming. There’s plenty of space to lay out a blanket and relax. Bring your pup, bring a book, or your hammock. There’s sunny spots, shady spots, and picnic benches. There’s also a playground set in the back so everyone doesn’t have to listen to screaming children while relaxing. (Sorry kids) There are bathrooms, water fountains, AND parking. That’s right. Everything I said is true. The perfect park exists, do yourself a favor and go enjoy!
This place has one of the most beautiful view in San Diego! From this you can spot San Diego Bay and the Coronado bridge. Its a perfect spot to have a picnic on 4th of july and wait for the fireworks since you will see from here most of the firework shows taken place at different locations. It has public restrooms so it makes it easy to spend a few hours there. There is also a parking lot where you will for sure find a spot after a few attempts if you could find any on the street.
Incredible views of San Diego, from this hillside park. Half giant grass covered hillside, half grassy flat area with a nice play structure for the littles and some tables to have food on as well. And if you want a bit of a workout, just walk from the bottom of the grass hill to the top a few times. Great for kite flying as well as the winds are almost always steady.
Great place to get outdoors and safely hang out with friends at a safe distance... super dog friendly, as long as you respect the on leash at all times rules. Only downside is parking can be a hassle if you get there late in the day, but there is street parking just be prepared for a bit of a hike back to the car
It was cool. The view is very pretty of Mission Bay and there were a lot of exercise classes going on in the morning around 10:00 a.m. there were a few picnics that were very cute and even one picnic for a proposal with the letters marry me next to it plus a Mariachi playing for them ❤️
Beautiful views of San Diego! Nice little walking trail around the park, but one end felt kind of sketchy when I was there. I definitely wouldnt walk that area alone or when there werent a lot of other people there. It was like theres a family area, and then in the corner an area where people might go to use drugs or be stalkers.... but I also watch a lot of true crime so.... 🤷♀️👀
Wow it was a Beautiful Experience , a Beautiful Place for a 21st. Birthday Picnic for Jasmine Gallegos she Loved everything bout it ! The water , the trees, the grass even tho it was so cold cause it was in the 60 degrees its a Beautiful Place , We enjoyed the Scenery as well ❣️
A hidden gem even to many San Diegans. Kate Sessions Park has one of the most spectacular views in town combined with an atmosphere of dogs, kids, and adults playing together peacefully. Make your way to this special place for that perfect picnic any time of year. Cheers!
Came here to watch the Big bay boom fireworks, we arrive around 8:20pm , its crowded but the park is spacious enough to keep social distancing. Was able to see the city fireworks as well as the one from sea world afterwards. I would probably go to downtown next time to hear the music and get closer.
I grew up walking my dog here and not once did I ever take it for granted. Kate Sessions has to be one of the most picturesque parks in the world. Great views sitting on priceless real estate overlooking mission bay and the ocean, with downtown off in the distance. Lots of partying on sunny weekends but usually pretty quiet otherwise. Great for walking your dog. Most owners have their dogs off their leashes, but it is not a leash free dog park. Bathrooms are old and nasty. If you havent been to kate sessions. Its a must. Bring her there on a first date before going out to set the mood. Ha
Beautiful scencery!! My first time here Someone was getting married! You have the Pacific Ocean as a view! Bring you dog and anyone you want to spend the whole day here. There families and a kids park and some trails. Love how chill it is but there some homeless residents so better not to go in the morning or late evening. They dont have much of a bathroom and need to update them besides that I would want to Get remarried Here!
Very nice park. Ample parking. Park is dog friendly, but it is still technically an ON leash dog spot. Despite this, you will find many dogs roaming free and enjoying life. Just be careful though, because they occasionally enforce the leash policy and you’ll very quickly get a $300 ticket!
Kate Sessions is a perfect park. It has a play structure, a large grassy areas for soccer, etc., beautiful trees, PLUS a huge grassy area with an amazing view where you cannot help but be awestruck by San Diegos beauty. (Details: there are bathrooms and plenty of parking.)
Stunning view, and a great place for a relaxing walk while chatting with my dad. I plan to come back and have a picnic later, maybe read a good book. There is a buildup of overflowing trash cans, but Im pretty sure I saw someone there trying to take care of that while I was there.
Hidden Gem of PB. Most of our friends have not heard of this park, but are always blown away when visiting. The park has a great view overlooking Mission Bay. It is a bit steep and parking can be tricky, but once settled it is a great place to hang out with friends, have a picnic, and just hangout. Generally people are there a little after dark.
Great for a picnic to see the city and watch the sunset. Very pet friendly, lots of people brought their dogs. Plenty of space for various activities like slack lining, catch, and general childhood rough housing. Parking is very tight, but once you find a spot youre in for a treat.
For my first time going here, it was a really nice a experience except for the parking space. The place is extremely packed so I recommend getting there early around 2 or 3pm for parking and getting a good seat on the grass for a great view when it’s sunset. You can also take an Uber there so you don’t have to worry about parking.
Great views of the city, but its pretty crowded. Parking isnt always easy, but theres a lot at the top of the hill and street parking at the bottom. So, you might have to walk a bit, but theres generally something open between the two. Its also worth mentioning that lots of people bring their pets here.
Awesome view of ocean and bay areas. Great for picnics, relaxing under the tree with a book or just walk around. I wish I had brought my dog when we visited. Everyone had their dogs off leash (its not gated) and the dogs just looked like they were all having a blast.
I quite like this park, it has a lovely view. However, if you visit, I hope you like dogs. Theyre supposed to be on their leashes, and most of them ostensibly are, but theres frequently no human on the other end, so several dogs introduced themselves to me rather energetically. I mostly avoided being trampled. Oh, and watch out for bees, they like the clover all through the grass. I dont blame them, its pretty, and it smells nice.
Great view of the city but also just a nice open field to play, read, or relax in!Bathrooms at the top of the hill have always had toilet paper and been decent considering they are public restrooms. The playground at the bottom of the hill is great but I recommend kiddos wear closed-toe shoes so they dont get tons of wood chips/splinters on their feet!

2022-03-12Kate Sessions Park is just minutes north of Garnet Ave in Pacific Beach CA. Head north on Lamont from Garnet.Spacious, with amazing views, this is one of my favorite places in San Diego. You can see all of Mission Bay and the ocean off Pacific Beach. The grounds are very well maintained. Bathrooms are available. Lots of parking, though on weekends parking may be difficult. This is a dog friendly park, though all dogs must be kept on the leash.Kate Sessions Park is a favorite of local families with plenty of space for fun and games. There is plenty of room for parties and to get together with friends.

2022-05-09Dog friendly as long as you keep them leashed(some dogs werent leashed when I went and I was totally fine with it since they were well behaved). A huge sloped grassy field makes it a perfect spot for picnic! I came to meditate a little bit. You can also do yoga here. Such a fine gem 💎 I ❤️ San Diego.

2021-11-27Beautiful hidden gem in San Diego. One of the most picturesque spots to relax and enjoy. Theres a paved walk path around the park and childrens play area in another section of the park. It has restrooms to benches and water fountains. There are multiple big signs now that this is not an off-leash park

2022-03-09Great views up here and it seems like a popular spot for a picnic which I also did here as well. Family friendly with parking, we went on a nice sunny day and there were over 20 groups of people here. I would definitely come back again. Also the park seemed clean and well taken care of.

2022-02-15Kate Sessions Memorial Park is a large dog park in the north Pacific Beach area. This park is usually busy, and most people who come here either bring their dogs, exercise, have a picnic, or a combination of these things. The park is open from dawn to after dark, but crowds usually peak towards sunset. The view at the top includes an overlook of Mission Bay, Downtown San Diego, the Coronado Bridge, Point Loma, and even Tijuana on clear sunny days.

2022-05-03Incredible views of the bay! There is also about 3/4 of a mile of hiking trails to explore. This park is dog friendly, they must be on a leash. The lawn slopes down giving a spectacular views of San Diego and the bays. By the entrance there is a playground for the kids.

2022-02-18This really is my favorite place in San Diego. I go here to relax, read, nap and people watch. Its just so great to be enjoying the view of PB, Mission Bay, OB, and Down Town SD in a relaxed environment. Be prepared to be thoroughly entertained by all the pups running around at most times of the day. Honestly you wont regret stopping by at any time of the day, the night skyline is also killer. Enjoy!
