A truly lovely little slice of nature and flowers through small rolling hills. I love the soul, effort, and sense of community behind this garden. It was created by Mr. Jensen because he wanted to make a garden for anyone to enjoy. Following his passing, the garden has been maintained for decades by community volunteers.
I have to say it! I have drove by this park every day and it never caught my attention, went for a drive with my family to get coffee (Starbucks) and some vanilla beans for the kiddos and driving by decided to stop, AND it was the place I was looking for, we sat at picnic tables and under the amazing trees, it was so relaxing and tranquil. All the nature and trees the quietness was amazing. So beautiful. Not just for familys to enjoy a walk but it can be very romantic, its a perfect place to have a picnic. There is benches under shady trees all over as well as some tables.
I have live in Carmichael for 4 years now I have never been to Jensen Garden Park until today. From the road it does not look like much but today we wanted to take my kids to let them run around somewhere nice that wasnt crowded so we pulled in parked and walked across the bridge and was shocked to see how big and beautiful this place is. Theres tons of small trails that go around the park it was easy to take my stroller around and its wheelchair accessible. Its very green lots of trees there is a bunch of benches to sit on under the Shady trees theres also a few tables you can eat at. Its a very quiet tranquil place to be its family-friendly and also can be very romantic. This is our new favorite spot.
This is a great place to relax and let your kids connect with nature. There arent any play structures, but there are hills to roll down, trees to climb, and plenty of flowers to take time to smell. Bring a picnic and enjoy. Parking is limited, and every photographer in the greater Sacramento area photographs here, so you may have to park outside or limit your play area to avoid being in their frame.
Jensen Botanical Garden is a hidden gem tucked in off busy Fair Oaks Boulevard! The garden has a paved walkway going through the middle. A portion of area is dedicated as a beautiful flower garden with stone lined, dirt paths. The foliage is labeled and manicured! I visited today (April) and the flowers are in bloom! Past that is a lush, mowed law. To there is an old olive orchard with tall, mature trees growing amongst tall, wild grass. This is a perfect place to get away with your favorite book, study, take pictures or have portraits done.
Small quite peaceful walking area ... large patch of grassy area to picnic , trees make it shady ! Garden area well maintained so keep your pets on leash, pickup after them. Put your trash in cans ! Leave flowers alone. Show some respect 😎 (No restrooms & Limited parking 20 spaces)
Beautiful little hidden treasure!! It can be a little hard to find it youre not careful. Its a great place to take family photos at sunset. Has a nice little trail as well as benches and picnic benches. Plenty of shade also. Beautiful hideaway for a romantic walk r exploring with kids.
My Grandchildren and I love going to this quaint piece of property. It usually isnt crowed and it is always clean and well maintained. The olive trees are all mature and create an artistic landscape. Yesterday we went to fly my grandsons new glider plane. Nice open spaces off the path.
I am surprised that I never knew about this park before. My friend showed me where it is located and I was pleasantly surprised about how well maintained everything is and it is a perfect place to sit and read a book, or walk around. The only complaint is that the parking lot is mostly dirt and if you have a low car, it can catch the ground. Other than that, it is a lovely place.
This place is so cute and relaxing! My boyfriend and I went here on a date, we always drive past it and always wanted to check it out. Starts as a shaded plant area then you walk a short pass through the park to the large community garden. It was so cute and entertaining to walk through it and see everybodys mini garden and their rocks. We got to turn the compost piles as well(: it was quiet the whole time, really a nice picnic spot.
Free to visit. Limited parking. Beautiful gardens of flowers, shrubs and trees. Our end of March visit meant most flowers were in full bloom. Great place for a picnic lunch and wildlife watching. Unfortunately, you can hear the road noise from Fair Oaks Blvd, however it is still worth a visit.
Nice trails, especially for diabled persons. The plants were just starting to bloom when I visited today. It was my first time to go to the garden and I enjoyed my visit. I will go back at other times to see the garden. It has wonderful benches to sit and just meditate.
If youre looking for some natural beauty, this is the place to go. Theres a little trail with every plant having a placard so you know what is what. We had a photoshoot here and it looks amazing because its green and lush and just amazing. Not somewhere youd go everyday but an awesome place for that special occasion nonetheless.
Very cute botanical garden. Lots of different species of plants. The park goes all the way back to a little community garden. Nice place to take a spring walk! There is this one blach grass there that I had never seen before, it was cool. I am going to plant it in my yard.
As the stars indicate, it was ok. It was pretty underwhelming and several areas were not labeled. I realize this is a volunteer ran facility but a few more identification labels on the plants would have gone a long way. If youre in the area I would still recommend checking it out as it is still a pretty area.
Probably thee worst “park” you could go to. Although the nature was beautiful, the people there are awful. Someone sat and watched my friend and I do an outfit change to go do more pictures and as we were away, approximately 20 mins, someone smashed my back window and stole our purses!!!! There was a lady that had been sitting at the bench facing the parking area and supposedly didn’t see anything. I highly recommend against coming here or make sure you have no valuables in the car at all!
This Botanical Gardens park is Beautiful, Its always a wonderful place to stop & eat our lunch.. or if youre up to it, It features:* paved walking paths,* A Ton of Gorgeous Vibrant colored flowers of all sizes, shapes & breeds...* Its Nesseled in this cute little knoll* Perfect for Pictures, Groups, or Couples..* Best time to go is Now - OctEnjoy !!!!
This is a great place for a break or a short stroll. Today we met a new friend (see images). He was crowing but I dont think he knew he was 12 hours early or 12 hours late. We noticed that a nature walk for the blind was added. It has a lot of textiles with the names also in braille. Check it out if youre nearby!
Maybe I would have enjoyed this more had it not been called a botanical garden--misleading. Its a little park with a little pathway to a little community garden where you are not encouraged to wander (you have to find someone to give you a tour). The first part of the park has a few plantings. The path is cement, and maybe 1/8 mile long, going through pretty enough olive trees but with houses on the side and no other plantings.Also. Not only do they want you to pay $15 for the pleasure of taking photos of this rather underwhelming locale, even for PERSONAL use, but they expect you to go to a separate location in order to purchase the permit to do so. Um, no thank you.It was a fine way to spend an hour with toddlers, running around on the path and looking at a few plants, but I wouldnt go back. Not least because there were super sketchy people coming through by themselves, meeting others for a minute, then immediately leaving...gosh what could they be doing.
Have I been to the wrong place? Some trees, a lot of open space that hasnt been taken care of for ages. Furthermore two signs about trees and flowers at the entrance.A concrete path that brings you to the fenced community gardens and that is it.Call it a neighborhood park but not a botanical garden. Was out in ten minutes...
Jensen park is a wolderful garden. It has a very calming effect even though it is next to a busy street. The trees seem to dampen the street noise, making you feel like you are in a separate world. We went on a rainy day and the cool freshness of the garden was invigorating. In Jensens day, the early garden had many Japanese Maples, although few are left....I hope they eventually replant those maples.

2022-04-03A well maintained patch of land with great walking paths. Perfect for creative photography, bird watching and all-around enjoying the outdoors. I walked the grounds quickly this morning just to get a feel for what the place was like and will definitely be back. I would guess that you have to arrive early to take in the true beauty of this area as parking seemed very limited and it probably gets very busy. I was there around 9:30am on a Sunday and there were not many people there yet.

2022-03-30Lovely garden in the heart of Carmichael-Fair Oaks. Only negative was the traffic noise, but it was a great experience, nonetheless. Beautiful and well-marked flora on an easy trail.

2022-04-06Jensen Botanical Garden is a small, quiet place to view nature. There is a nice paved walk that goes from the Fair Oaks Blvd. side of the garden to the community gardens on Sutter Avenue with benches to take in the scenery or just a place to gather your thoughts.

2021-09-02Nice place to walk around with lots of trees, plants, and flowers. A few picnic benches near the entry area. Lots of benches scattered around everywhere. Everything is very well maintained. Didn’t see a bathroom, but there’s a porta potty in the parking lot. Had a great time walking the dog here.

2022-02-05Lovely park, would like to comment more but I didn’t get to go far as there are no dogs allowed in this park. I wish it was on the google page or their official website so I didn’t bring my dog and find out after we were here already.Otherwise we’ll maintained, beautiful property and I was pleased to see the blind accessible options. Great job!
