Very disappointed. Originally when we arrived to pick up the car they tried to give us a smaller car than we booked and wanted to charge an upgrade fee to get in the car class we booked. Then on the return they charged us for an extra day at double the price when we were 2 hours late. Spoke to a manager, Charles, who lied and said there was nothing he could do and to call customer service. I usually rent with enterprise and after this I will never be renting with Hertz again.
I reserved a mid-size vehicle for my fiancé at the Sacramento Airport location through Priceline. I paid for the additional insurance ahead of time through Priceline, but when my fiancé picked up the vehicle they charged her for the additional insurance as well. They also gave her a Nissan Kicks, which is an economy car NOT a mid-size car. Was I refunded the difference? No. Also, the Nissan they gave her has a broken gas gauge. I have left a message and tried calling multiple times trying to reach the Hertz location at Sacramento Airport to sort out their errors but no one has returned my call.I WILL NOT LET THIS GO HERTZ. I WILL CONTINUE TO CALL YOUR OFFICE UNTIL YOU DO YOUR JOB.
They told us over the phone we could use our debit card because the limo on the credit card was low but when we got there we were told that we needed a credit card. The car we were given was also not the car we paid to reserve. As we were driving the engine would turn off if we braked for more than 15 seconds. To top it off the car was also DIRTY! There was mud all over the back seat! The one thing someone should never have to do is clean their own rental car, especially with the conditions of the current pandemic. Very dissapointed.
I was actually working for the company they are very racist I was making them good money only a month in I was calling into the office and was fired and when I asked why they had no answers I worked on the dollar thrifty side they put all colors on that side and all others on the hertz side they get first pick on everything and they are definitely very fraud yes they have us upgrade you for there commission needs they entered into a contest with every other across the world we was the winner and only the managers where rewarded when in all honesty they didn’t do a single thing they play favor Chisholm schedule is suppose to be Seniority but some how a associate who came after I did and is a different race was able to get pick over me they are very unfair I wouldn’t recommend any one doing business or working with them they then let people book a car even when they don’t have any vehicles then make customers wait for over 2 hours for a vehicle that they had actually booked for weeks ago months or even years they are very unprofessional
My wife Cecilia and I had a wonderful experience atbthe hertz rentalnat sacramento airport. Alem took very great care of us during the rental process. He was very knowledgeable, professional and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. He was awesome. Will definitely continue to use hertz when in Sacramento
Reserved, and paid for car, went to pick it up and suddenly my money is no good there anymore and I cannot take the car I paid for home, but my money isn’t so dirty they can’t keep it for themselves apparently. So I got scammed out of 200~ dollars because I’m trying to pay with a debit card. Which is actually ridiculous
I will never rent from Hertz again! Nobody at Hertz nationwide has the phone number for the actual rental counter at the Sacramento Airport! Plus they don’t listen to what you tell them. It’s like they’re all reading from the same “tell the customer this” card. Be prepared for what happened to me if you’re ever foolish enough to rent from Hertz. You rent a car from Hertz and you need a basic but important question answered that can only be answered by a Hertz representative at that ticket counter. Hertz says NO WAY! You will not get that phone number from anybody at Hertz. It’s TOP SECRET! When they finally did give a number, it was to a private residence in Sacramento! CORPORATE INCOMPETENCE AT IT’S BEST!
They sent me in circles trying to talk to a real person. Then they said they would charge me to speak to a representative who ended up not being very helpful. What kind of company does that? I would recommend renting from a different company but if you absolutely have to rent from them make sure they dont try to swindle you with additional charges. Its called hertz because it hertz to rent from them.
Zero stars. They do third party business through priceline to reserve vehicles and then rent out the reserved vehicle you booked through priceline. The customer is then forced to pay higher for a rental. That is unacceptable. Seriously. You just gave the customer ahead a reserved vehicle and charged us more. You are entirely out of line and unprofessional. You guys need to hold your employees and company accountable for unacceptable business practices. You lost any business with me, my fiance, family and friends. I will tell anyone who mentions renting from you not to.
I was told when I made my reservation that I could pay with a debit card. I live within my means & have used my Visa backed debit card in many credit card required situations. They didnt tell me when I made my reservation, that I had to have a return airline ticket to prove that I would be returning the car in order to use it. I know, it made no sense to me either. Im a local. I drove an hour out to the airport to rent a car on a Sunday. I had no reason to have a ticket. Calls to customer service got me a bunch of Im sorrys which did not result in my getting a rental car. I should never have given them a 2nd chance. Rest assured I have finally learned my lesson. Its no wonder this company is failing.
The worts company ever front desk bad . Second I put gas and they still charge me 91.76 I call them and they said I will have to have pictures to prove that I did what 😮 I say I can send the receive and they did want it also Priceline sell me a insurance and they did know nothing about third party omg so hard
We flew in from Omaha Saturday, September 4, 2021 and were anxious to pick up our car and be on our way. Much to our dismay, when we got to the counter, the lady said all their cars were gone! Even though we had a reservation, there was no car for us! What good does it do to make a reservation if the company gives the cars to others? We are not happy campers! Thank goodness for a friend who could pick us up! Otherwise we would have been stranded! What do others do when they are stranded?
I rented a car Sept 2-6 at the Sacramento International Airport location. I have been using Hertz for years with no issues ever with things being added without my knowledge except this time. I made my reservation as I always do online with no additional add-ons as always. I have USAA insurance and have never requested additional insurance coverage, there is no reason for me to. When I got the bill and reviewed it showed additional insurance coverage. I called and they were unable to help me and said I must have accepted it at the location. I was never even asked about it, otherwise I would have said that I did not need additional coverage as I have insurance. This charge was added without my knowledge and unfortunately, they are unable to refund me these funds since I accepted it. I told them to go back the last 5 years of my rental history and they would see that I have never once requested this add-on. They told me there was nothing they could do. Its unfortunate that Hertz would not take care of this issue. Moving forward I will make sure that I check every receipt before leaving the gate with my rental. I hope you all do too!
Terrible experience. Considering reporting them to the BBB and Airport management. Booked a great deal for $189 per week for a Jetta. Tried calling 5 times before the rental to get questions answered that were not online. Nobody answers the phone. So we get there and find someone who tells us where to park and where to go. We get inside and it is busy. Counter agents were slow. We finally get to the front and the agent asks for a $200 deposit on top of ourr $268 rental. I mentioned that nothing was stated online or in my confirmation emails from Hertz. He said it stated the deposit policy on the website. I read everything online at the time of booking and later prior to rental in the confirmation email. Nothing about a deposit. I then asked if we could change the name and card to my wife who was next to me. Nope. They cant do anything. He also said they dont have a Jetta which was advertised for $189/wk and that they had a Corolla. We leave disappointed to say the least and call customer service to try and sort it out. Terrible customer service continued and they wanted to charge us double for a Corolla 20 minutes after we left the counter! Plus they were going to charge an extra 5% for talking to an agent on the phone. I see why they went bankrupt!! How are they still in business? This is illegal bait and switch. Terrible service and Hertz lost a customer for life. Worst rental car experience in my life. I canceled my reservation and hope they dont charge me anything. Dishonest crooks! Here is a great idea...disclose deposits up front! Be honest! Dont offer vehicles and prices with no intention or ability to honor them! Trash company. Shame!!
Originally, service was great and I was given an upgrade at a lesser price that I received from Priceline. I will say that the car I was given was in pretty dang good shape, and that the overall experience was good. Unfortunately it goes downhill from here. The gentleman did not, however, mention that the cost was IN ADDITION TO the original price, even though he said multiple times that it was $15 cheaper than the original cost, for a better car.I just got off the phone with them and they said that even though they failed to mention it, it was in the paperwork. They then proceeded to ask me if Id like to dispute the charge, to which I promptly asked how I would be able to if the language was in the rental agreement. He said that oh, I cant actually dispute it, so they would essentially be happy to waste more of my time with the process. Should I have read more closely without assuming good will? Yeah, probably. Should the gentleman at the counter have mentioned that I was not, in fact, saving money? Absolutely. I dont place all the blame on Hertz, but I do feel that I was misinformed to spend more money, when I would not have otherwise.TL;DR: Theyre happy to take more of your money, under the pretence that they are saving you money. To me, thats a lack of integrity and honesty that I wont give my business to.
Rented Chevy Malibu from Sacramento Airport, but we discovered it had a major engine problem that was a real safety issue. (The gas pedal would not respond the way you would expect—the car would take forever to accelerate, then take off like a shot! Try doing that in the foothills with traffic.) Hertz 24hr roadside assistance call went to voicemail. Texting was the only way to get through, and we were told to bring it back to the airport (not that they would even consider coming to us and swapping the vehicle out)! When we returned the car Hertz employees at the parking lot did not inform those behind the customer counter about our situation. The result: we were rudely asked to get to the back of the line and wait our turn to be helped. TWO HOURS LATER, we had a new rental. Hertz has hit rock bottom!!!
Aggressive up-sell and almost charged me an extra $117 for my one day care rental. I declined insurance [as you should, its a scam] and then he asked for my insurance provider. Then he proceeded to go ahead and charge me for it after I declined it. WTAF? I was so lucky I thought about it, asked and double checked my receipt. SLIMY! Do not let them pull a fast one on you!
We got served by the Hertz lady for a dollar car rental because the line was long. She had brown hair and was USELESS.Rolled her eyes when we requested to change the driver on the reservation. Gave us a stained, old car. Acted like she did us a favor when brandishing the key. When we asked for a new car because of the stains, she basically told us that we should be grateful she gave us an upgrade.1- we didnt get any upgrade beyond what we paid for. 2- Id much prefer a clean small car than a dirty car. Especially during covid.Even if you save a few pennies, its not worth it. Go elsewhere.
My experience renting a car through Hertz was extremely confusing and more difficult than it needed to be. There is virtually no customer service and the staff have no authority in accommodating guests. We needed to change the name on our pre paid reservation and the only way to do so was to call an automated phone number and spend two hours trying to get a hold of someone. Once I did get a hold of someone after trying multiple numbers, he told me I needed to cancel the reservation, pay a fee and then make a new reservation just to change the name. Once he finally agreed to do this for me with no fee and after speaking with him for 40 min, he gave me a new confirmation number. But this new number did not work and after calling again and talking to someone else, I found that he did nothing to resolve my issue, never cancelled my old reservation, and never made a new one. The second person I talked to was helpful and successfully made me a new reservation under a new name, but this also took an hour and we were then charged extra for making a reservation on the day we needed it. All in all, I would NOT recommend Hertz to anyone or use their services again. If you are renting through Hertz, however, I would recommend not pre paying for a car as this makes changing things more difficult and ensuring the name on your reservation is accurate.
I am normally not a reviewer but I have to literally booked a rental and since they were having issues they said we will do it for 1 day and extend it over the phone tomorrow. . . Total but ended up trying to charge 300 dollars on top of booked price in the beginning, had to go return car switch with another company, ended up missing business meeting which was the reason for traveling out here and almost lost job because couldnt make meetings. . . When POLITELY letting the hertz service agent know I was unhappy, his response was So am I needless to sayWORST EXPERIENCE EVER, THANKS HERTZ
If I could give no stars I would. I stopped in to pick up a rental car. It was reserved days in advance. They didn’t have one readily available, but did find one eventually. I was asked if I wanted the insurance, and I said no. Well, they charged me for it anyways. So when I called Hertz, I was told because I signed for the car that included the insurance (that I said no to) I had to pay for it, and next time to read my contract better. Then I was told all the managers would tell me the same thing, so I could call the airport location and see what they could do for me. Hertz will never get my business again, and Enrico was wrong for putting the insurance on there when I clearly said no! Zero stars, that’s my real rating!!
I turned in a vehicle and filled it full of gas before doing so! A week later Hertz supposedly audited the vehicle and said it was 3 gallons short and charged me $31 for it! I politely provided evidence of having filled the tank and they still wont refund my credit card. Spoke with three customer service reps and interacted with one via email (Tiffany). Tiffany insinuated I was lying. One agent hung up on me. Another told me a manager was busy but would call me within the hour. Never got a call back from a manager. Been a loyal Hertz Gold member for years and have rented from this location multiple times as I travel there for business frequently. Looks like Im not the only person to have been treated this way given the other reviews! Extremely dissatisfied! I will be changing my loyalty particularly at this location unless my card is refunded in full!
Do not go to this location. Employees are shady and will forge your signature. Do not go to this place horrible service and fraud. In process of a dispute for over 300$ when it should of been 160$ top. Employee pulled me from line to make it so I didn’t have to wait and he can add up sells to my ticket without my consent. Horrible and dissatisfied
Ive been a Hertz Gold member for 6 years and have always had very good experiences. This time was very different. I rented a car from the Sacramento Airport last week. I was on a road trip near Mt. Shasta when I got a flat tire. I checked the trunk and there was no spare tire, in fact, there was a foam insert where the spare tire was supposed to be meaning they knowingly send me on my way without a spare. After being stranded on the side of the road for some time (with three children) we finally got a ride to an area where we could get phone reception. I waited on hold for nearly 2 hours for emergency services, all they cared about was retrieving the car, they expressed no concern for replacing the rental car and made no arrangements to replace the vehicle. Hertz ended up towing the car back to Sacramento (about a 3 hour drive) and told me Id have to return to Sacramento to get a replacement vehicle. Hertz has a location in Redding (about an hour away) but they told me no corporate vehicles are at that location so they would not accommodate me there. They could have had the tire repaired at a local tire shop, they could have driven a spare up from Sacramento, they could have swapped cars with me. Instead of helping me at all, Hertz screwed up my whole trip. When I asked for a refund they only gave me a partial refund in points. This company is terrible!!
The wait for a vehicle is excessively long. Especially after a very long day of traveling. To wait isn’t enjoyable…. To wait with no communication or timeframe…. Not very good customer service.EDIT: Charles was very polite after finally getting a vehicle lined up. Vehicle was upgraded…. Wait is still too long
I am a long time Hertz Gold 5 Star member and I am ready to be done with them forever. I had a reservation for a 9 day rental on 9/4 at the Sacramento Airport. When I went to pick up my confirmed reservation, they were completely out of cars. I understand that sometimes things happen, but they had no interest in fixing the problem or providing any credit for the extreme inconvenience that was caused by their error. Dependable service is a top priority for me and Hertz Sacramento has failed miserably.
Terrance the manager at the Sacramento Hertz was completely rude. Admitted in front of my brother and his staff that he purposely ignored me and walked away in the middle of our conversation and was very condescending. Will make a review on every platform due to his horrible service.
In the past, I have had good experiences renting from Hertz. However, the experience this time definitely makes me question whether I will want to rent from them again in the future. The price was the best option among all the rental car companies I compared against, but I would be willing to pay a bit more if I dont have to go through the experience I went through. Specifically, the problem was extremely long wait times and being severely understaffed. After arriving from a flight later in the evening and getting our baggage, the last thing you want to do is wait forever in a long line that is barely moving. But that is exactly what happened, waiting over 30 minutes to be able to speak with someone. The line was probably over 20 people long with only one person present at the Hertz counter. The other car rental companies had multiple employees and the line was both shorter to begin with and moving reasonably quickly. Part of the problem is that Hertz was also servicing Thrifty and Dollar customers. Im guessing this is because of the bankruptcy measures, but they need to do a better job at customer service as currently they are heading further in the wrong direction.
The representative I returned my car to did not close out my rental so I have been getting late charges for 4 days. I was told I would be emailed a receipt but I never received that either, or an explanation of the late charges until I got ahold of someone after 3 days of calling. This wouldn’t have been noted unless I had made a phone call, and was very hard to reach. If you use this rental location, definitely ask for a printed receipt so you know that the rental account has been closed and you won’t have to face unnecessarily delayed charges and refunds for expenses you weren’t responsible for in the first place.Update: it has been a week and they still haven’t logged that my car was returned. I got an urgent call that my vehicle is overdue when I parked at the rental lot a week ago!Update: This was resolved, but I had to drive out an hour to resolve it.
Basically, I was an hour and 10 minutes late, I got tagged for two additional hours with no one hour grace period.Additionally, when I had booked, I actually thought that I got a great deal on a Hertz-branded - repeat - Hertz-branded rental car at SMF!And I ended up getting a Dollar/Thrifty (both now owned by Hertz Corporation) substandard quality throwaway car that had over 40,000 miles on it.Disappointing.......
Is there no working contact number at this Hertz location? I have called the number listed for this location 10 times and get call waiting dial tone like it’s 1999. Writing this review to get attention as I am not able to get a hold of a human through Hertz rental otherwise.
Had a prepaid reservation at Sacramento airport. We got to the the Hertz counter at 11:15pm; they were supposed to be open until midnight. On the rental info, we indicated our arrival time. No one was at the counter. A fellow traveler, also waiting to pick up his car saw a service employee outside who told him Hertz ran out of cars, so the counter staff left.We were left high and dry at the airport, nearing midnight and over an hour away from our final destination. There was no note at the counter, no email notification, nothing. When we called customer service today, the rep even wanted to charge us a cancellation fee. We didn’t cancel: we arrived to pick up our prepaid car at the time we said we would and no one was at the counter. My husband had to argue to get the refund without the cancellation fee.Ranked #1 is customer service? How is that possible? This is a one star only because I couldn’t give zero.
This was one of the best car rental experiences Ive had. The car I ordered was available and in the promised location, keys were in it, and we were off in a matter of minutes. The car itself was exactly as promised. It was in excellent condition and everything was in working order. We had no problems during our trip. The return process went so smoothly that we felt as if it wasnt a rental at all. We dropped it off and were at our airport terminal in less than five minutes! It was a great experience from beginning to end.
The car was clean and well taken care of, although the customer service was terrible. I very clearly stated I did NOT want any extra coverage of any type. I did not look at the rental agreement upon signing, which was my mistake, although he signed me up for additional coverages I did not want. Upon speaking to customer service, I was told since I signed it, they werent going to refund me. I was a very loyal Hertz customer until today. I canceled my future reservation and will take my business elsewhere from now on.
This place is the worst place to rent a vehicle. My husband rented a vehicle from Hertz Sacramento International Airport yesterday morning and was told he would be able to have the vehicle for 24 hours no late fee, but today when I returned my vehicle I got charged a late fee. I was also told that I was given a AAA DISCOUNT little did I know I was not given my AAA discount even though he stated he did. I was surprised with my bill at the end of the day. If I could give no stars I would. If you are ever here trying to rent. A vehicle please make sure that your representative states everything on your receipt and make sure your AAA discount is added even though they say it is CHECK UOUR RECEIPT..!
Do not ever rent a car they Hertz, I rented a car for a family trip, I went to get In the car and noticed it said it had an 18% oil life I then told the gentleman that rented the car to me. He said it would be fine there was no problem, then the next morning I got ready to drive the car it began to overheat and smoke was coming out the tail pipe. I called to let hertz know the car was overheat omg and I didn’t have time to pick up another car for the trip so they said they would come tow the car back to their business. I then went to the business after returning back from my trip and they stated they were charging me for a car rental for one day for a car that was broken down and did not work. I would never rent a car from this company ever they are shady and money hungry!!
We returned our rental car after two weeks. It was easy and charges were as expected. When we had first rented the car, the customer service representative was quite helpful, especially changing the reservation from my wife to me. Not an easy task when you book through a travel service. Had to be done because my wife was unable to drive with a fractured right foot in a boot.
Your better off paying more money at a different company ! At least you get better service. I been getting the run around ALLLLLLLL DAAAYYYY literally. I have been a member since 2016 and the service has never been this bad. I dont know what happened but instead of being more strict on cars you should start first with Customer Service. And not just at the location but throughout the whole COMPANY!
A very professional and efficient staff greeted us at the counter. While there was a little hiccup with my information online, a very nice gentleman took the time to correct everything in their system and double check all my requests for the car I was renting. The car was nice and met all our needs and when we returned it, the young man took just a couple of minutes to inspect the car and printed my receipt as requested. Ive used other car rental companies in the past, but Hertz has always been the very best one to deal with and will continue to do so.
Worked at this location for over a year. I can tell you now, the reason we dont have any cars ready on time isnt because we just dont have them. Its because our VSAs (Cleaners) dont work when they dont feel like it. Nobody at this location has the guts to tell them otherwise so we operate on their time. If you have a reservation for 5 pm, youll only get your car if the vsas feel like cleaning it. If they dont, then youre screwed
I returned the vehicle on 12/31 with a full tank, but was charged $23.74 for fuel by Hertz. I had filled up the night before in Folsom, drove to the airport and topped off at Arco at the airport. The fuel pump shut off each time indicating a full tank (and retried each time just to be sure). I checked the gauge when I topped off - it showed full. I rent for Hertz often, so agreed to just email me a receipt. I checked the receipt while waiting for my plane, there was the fuel charge. I called Hertz immediately. The agent stated I would be refunded the charge. I dont have receipts for gas, but I do have the charges on my CC activity. She said check back in a few days and I would see the refund. I checked on 1/3. No refund. Called Hertz again. Agent said the refund had been removed, didnt know why. This agent once again assures the refund will be done. Gave me a case number. Wouldnt let me talk to a manager. Said I would get a call back tomorrow. My phone now rejects calls from unknown numbers. Agent cant tell me what the calling number will be. Still wouldnt let me wait for a manager. Im screwed. Unsure if there will be a refund or not. Next time I do any rental, I will take a picture of the fuel gauge with mileage before getting out. There is no way $23 worth of fuel went in to the car after I filled it up TWICE! NOTE: I looked through my other Hertz receipts. This location seems to be the only one that DOES NOT have the fuel status in and out. All my other receipts show the fuel status on pickup and return. UPDATE: I did receive a refund for the fuel charge. I did not receive a call back from a manager (and no record of an attempted call being blocked due to unrecognized number).
This location provides superb service every time I have rented a vehicle from here. My vehicle is always ready and waiting for me. I have not received a vehicle that I was dissatisfied with, unlike the awful experiences I have had at other locations. Sacramento Airport Hertz Car Rental is a step above the rest.
Being a frequent Hertz renter I dont have to worry about waiting in line to pickup, and get to go directly to my car. As we started driving off the lot we realized the tank was only half full. At the gate where they check your info we let the attendant know and he immediately said Ill comp the entire tank of gas, or you can take another car. He didnt ask for a supervisor, cause a fuss, just solved the issue quickly and efficiently. We elected for the free tank of gas and upon returning the car empty nobody batted an eye. Great service!
Seamless and easy rental with Hertz at the Sacramento airport. I signed up for a gold membership to help skip lines and hassle. When I arrived, I went straight to the lot. There were a couple employees waiting to help customers find the right car section per their gold reservation. They directed me to the right place. I perused the solid selection of cars and found one to my liking (low mileage, very clean, everything working well). Exited the lot and went on my way. When I returned, the check-in/drop-off process was equally hassle-free. I dropped off the car and within 5 minutes was on my way to the rental shuttle back to the airport terminal. I will definitely rent with Hertz again if Im in the Sacramento area.
Very good service and clean car.I had been using another rental car agency and decided to try Hertz. The rate was less expensive than the other, the person at the counter was friendly, quickly confirmed my ID, and pointed me to my car. It was surprisingly quick and easy.
THEY RAN OUT OF CARS. Got an email 1 hour before my 6 pm reservation that my car was READY so I drive there in my hertz rental to swap it out for a different car. I turn the car in. The board says go to Gold. Well they didnt have any cars in gold. I go to the front desk to ask for a car they say no were out sorry.. I asked for the car I had back. They said NO. Talking to the Uber drivers they said this has been happening since the day before. Didnt even get a phone call saying I wouldnt get a car. I went from having a rental car to carless. Horrible customer service not only from this facility but Hertz overall. ZERO STAR
Highly disappointed with the customer service we received. We had accidentally booked the car at the downtown location instead of the airport location and they would not honor the rate despite their being cars available. The woman at the counter was short with us and finally we walked away. We then called the 800 number and got a much better rate than she would offer us in person! In the end we paid nearly $80 more than what we had locked in on months in advance and overall so annoying to have to call to get a better rate than what she would give us in person. Car was fine.
Very disappointing experience here. Landed for a weekend in Tahoe and we had a reservation for a basic economy car for $80. The forecast called for snow in Tahoe that weekend. The man at the counter advised us that they had no chains to rent, and that we werent allowed to put them on the car, so we would have to upgrade to a 4x4 vehicle. I cant find any evidence of this policy anywhere on the Hertz website, so I assume it was a lie to upsell us.He then said he would get us a good deal on the upgraded vehicle. He stated it would only be an extra $100 over what we had paid for the initial reservation, for a vehicle that would not require chains on restricted roads. We figured better safe than sorry and went ahead with it. The total on the agreement he handed us said $188, and he said that wed already paid $80 of it so not to worry, it was just an extra $108. No problem. We didnt find out until well after we had dropped off the car that he had actually charged us an ADDITIONAL $188, on top of what wed already paid. If he had been honest about the price we wouldnt have agreed to it. Chains for an economy car are $30-50 for reference. To add insult to injury, while we were in Tahoe we were advised by our friends there that the tires on our rental car werent snow tires like wed been told. We were risking a citation by driving through restricted roads, and by lying to us Hertz put us in actual danger. We just got off the phone with customer service and they gave us some free rental days, but refused to refund us despite their egregious lies. I wont be doing business with Hertz again, especially not this branch.
Staff was very friendly and helpful (even at midnight!). She let us check out the vehicle before renting and had no problem changing vehicles (because the first one was plain UGLY!). Described all insurance options and helped us choose the best coverage (so our Allstate policy wouldnt have to cover us for any kind of damage, just in case). Also recommended a free Gold membership so we dont have to wait in line next time.
Returned the car full. Person checking the car marked it off as full and then I get a letter in the mail stating that the car was checked again and its needing gas and charged me close to $50. Called corporate and pretty much told me sorry. Prove it to us with a receipt. Well the gas receipts were in the car when I turned it in.Wont be renting from Hertz again and I do NOT recommend unless you want to get scammed out of money.
We rented a car from Hertz at the Sacramento airport after flying from NC to attend a family reunion and my grandfather’s 94th birthday party. Two days into our rental, while driving to said birthday party, we got a flat tire in the middle of nowhere. Zero cell service and an hour (drive) from our destination. We checked the trunk for a spare tire and there was a styrofoam insert where the tire should be. Thankfully several family members were caravanning so we were able to cram into other vehicles. When we arrived at the party and had cell service, my husband sat on hold on their emergency line for 2 hours and missed the entire gathering. When we reached someone, they wanted us to drive back to the rental car (with what car?! Ours had a flat!) and finally decided to tow it back to Sacramento. No replacement tire, no replacement car. We spent hours the next day, the day of our family reunion, trying to talk to a live person to remediate the situation. After several days of hours on hold, we never ended up getting a car. My sister had to drive us to Sacramento and now had to drive several hours back to our reunion destination to collect the rest of their belongings they didn’t have room for since they had to bring our luggage. We had one week with family, one week with my 94 year old grandfather, and the entire time was wasted with this ridiculous car situation. I. Am. Livid.
I rented a car from this location on June 7. The representative at this location incorrectly checked out the car to me, so when I dropped off the car at a different location, they could not check it in. It has been about a month since this rental and I still have not received a receipt. I have tried calling the Sacramento location and the Hertz general number multiple times, spending literal hours on the phone, and no one has been able to resolve this issue for me. I would sincerely appreciate if someone could help me resolve this issue.
If you have a problem with your vehicle, youll get the run-around from the rental counter and not get a credit or refund for your trouble. We are 18-year Gold Members and can attest that Hertz customer service has gone from one of the best to one of the absolute worst. At least Enterprise (also owns Alamo and National) attempts to be supportive, and helpful, and work with the customer on vehicle issues. We had to return a vehicle a day early because someone prior had smoked tobacco inside, and my wife is allergic to tobacco smoke. Not to mention the nasty chemicals arsenic, lead, ammonia and formaldehyde also present in tobacco smoke, it stays in the fabric and materials of the vehicle and gets into your respiratory system. The smells-like-flowers shampoo treatment doesnt remove the chemicals. For those allergic, it burns your sinuses like inhaling smoke off a campfire. The rental counter agent said they would adjust the rental period, plus a discount for our trouble. This discount was promised to appear on our final bill, and yet the full amount from our original reservation was billed. No refund, no credit, no adjustment. Return a rental early with trouble, and youre charged in full.We tried calling the 800 Hertz number, multiple times, only to be put into the we are experiencing higher than normal call volume penalty box and never talked to a live human being. That is the most insulting robo-message any company can hit customers with. It says our company cant manage our demand with the right number of employees so try calling some other day and maybe, or maybe not, well have our act together. The Hertz online customer Contact form was tediously filled out 3 times also only to receive an unknown error when we hit submit. Different browser and computer it didnt matter. We tried the online chat option, and we were told Call the 800 number and speak to the billing department followed with submit an online message through our website.Classic. Neanderthals could provide a better response.Goodbye Hertz at SMF - you failed miserably. Not following through after giving the customer the smoke and mirrors treatment is insidious. There are too many other car rental options that would make amends, and not just treat a customer like a credit card number.
Been here many times, about 7-8 times, spotty service, lots of times cars are filthy including my last visit.Happens to not have the car reserved or anything decent close to it.Customer service is definitely below average, no will to help or at least try!Hertz use to be my favorite rental, but I am considering other options!
Hertz was great for several reasons.1. They take Debit cards. Which is such a relief for someone who categorically does not use credit cards. I have cash. I dont want to borrow money!2. They gave me a few upgrades for free, which was an unexpected and nice.3. The price was good, and didnt even go up for dropping it off the car in a different city. So that was another pleasant surprise. They girl was surprised, because normally it costs more that way.Overall, Im happy with Hertz. Probably be using them in the future. Im anti-credit card, so they work for me. Great business.
Avoid this car rental company at any cost! I wish to give negative stars.I booked mid-size SUV a month in advance and payed for the rental for $250 before my trip. While l get there to pick up my SUV, the representive pushed us to upgrade into a 4-wheel drive with extra $50 dollars and I agreed. However, after I came back from the trip. Besides the previously charged $250, they charged another $315 on my credit card with an insane upgrade fee for another $35 per day! Avoid at any cost!
If I could give them a 0 I would. The customer service was awful prior to getting to the counter. The line did not move more than 5 feet for over an hour. There is absolutely no sense of urgency in how this rental agency operates. Many of the customers in line left to get rentals from other agencies because it is that much faster. I would love to say they were just short on employees because the two that assisted me were very sweet but they have more employees working the Hertz counter than all the other car rental agencies in the building. Something needs to change here.
For all the times I been here the experience was not that great. Until today with the help from Messier at the gold check out, apologies to him if I spelled his name wrong, but he kept it very professional with his customer services, great attitude and very respectful had no problems answering my questions. Best services from Smf Hertz so far!
Nothing like getting to the car rental with a reservation and them telling me they will not have a car ready for over 30 minutes. The pandemic is nothing new. And the excuse that it takes time to clean isn’t acceptable at this point. Hire more staff, get a new cleaning method and stock more cars.
This was my first time renting from Hertz in Sacramento at the airport. Overall, the experience was good, and they certainly took care of two issues I had. The first car had a problem with noise from the tires. Sounded like an issue with the brakes. Im surprised the vehicle was on the lot to be rented, but perhaps the previous rented did not mention it. The next vehicle they gave me had a warning that came up that it was due for an oil change. Strange. So they gave me a 3rd vehicle. I got an upgrade for my trouble and they certainly quickly took care of getting me a car. The point is, they took care of the issues quickly and nicely. For that, their customer service was excellent. For having two cars with problems, not so good.
What a poor customer service. Today at 8:35 pm I showed up for a car rental and the hertz representative has just ignored me. Two people were after me in a line but they have priorities them and ignored my number. After almost 10 minutes of wait she told me that she doesn’t want to talk to me because I have objected them for ignoring my number. She just walk away and told me she doesn’t want to deal me.This is what I never expect from Hertz. You better bring some professional people and educate them how to deal the conflicts and customers.
If anyone is wanting to go to Hertz to pay for a rental car, DO NOT go to them. I found out too late that theres people on the phone who dont care to do their job properly. Theyre very inconsiderate and they dont care. Whats worse is that I was never told in the first place that Hertz never accepts Visa Debit Cards. All car rentals should accept them no matter what. Not everyone carries Master Credit Cards! Its total BS! I was very upset and angry. There should be a law suit against them. Instead of transferring me to a low budgeting rental car place, this man named Nathan brought me over to Alamo which didnt make any price lower. Alamo is expensive. Yes, I ordered a nice Nissan car. But the Nissan didnt have full coverage and I had to pay for the fee. What angered me too is that Alamo never gives you back your fee money after you succeed in bringing the rental car back undamaged. Its very messed up and its robbery.
Terrible terible customer service at this Hertz location. When we dropped off the rental car, Ali nicely informed us that we have paid the gas in full and that we shouldnt have filled up the gas before returning the car. We were puzzled as we were never informed that we have paid a full tank gas. (This is something that they should inform you before they charge your card) Ali then nicely wrote a note and told us to go to the counter so that the manager can take care of the refund for us. As we arrived at the counter, this lady with curly hair with the name started Mexxxx was very unhelpful and informed us that the manager/supervisor was actually outside. The manager was not outside and was actually inside the back room and she made us run back and forth trying to find a manager. She never made the effort to try to be helpful to understand the situation nor provide a solution. Please do not come to this Hertz location for car rental, there are other better options here.
Overall I would rate this experience as just acceptable. Gold Service was just not typical of my previous experiences. Had to go to the Gold Service desk to obtain the vehicle. No explanation as to why I need to see the attendant! The attendant left us with the feeling that we had annoyed him.The vehicle had just been cleaned and parked when we picked it up around 10am. The next morning, the car had a fishy smell that stayed until we returned it to Hertz the next day. Reported to return attendant who noted the smell as well. He documented the smell on the return forms and apologized for the smell.
The experience with this Hertz was good. Mostly-easy Pick-up and quick return. I would recommend for holidays booking ahead as a Gold Member. While I dont know details on their reservation for the Thanksgiving holiday, several people ahead of us had to wait 15-45 for cars. As a Gold Member, the car was waiting. Be aware that the gold member desk/Hertz Lot is out the doors to your left if you are facing the counter. I assumed the wrong doors and didnt easily identify the location and waited in line to get information on my reservation.
Be careful with the thick, short lady called Marleen. She will lie through her teeth to get you the worst deal you can get, I’m a gold member and just wanted to exchange the car I had gotten the night before in San Francisco due to a Check Engine light.First she told me they don’t accept thatThen she said they have no carsFollowed by you can take a minivanTo you can pay 800$ extra for a similar speced suv (charging me the night before where I didn’t even have the vehicle?)As I proceeded to ask for her manager or supervisor she told me that there is no one around and he won’t be coming in for a couple of hours??As we were talking I overheard her radio saying “we have a Lincoln available for him” as she Pulled the radio under the table (as if sound won’t be heard through her little counter) and kept claiming all I can have was the minivan.I have always been quite loyal to Hertz and never had any bad experiences, It’s sad to see how one employee can ruin so much business for the entire company. Definitely won’t be coming back to them.
Very professional and friendly staff. Everything was fine with (another) rental. They are GREAT!I do wish they wouldnt push their collision and liability insurance so much. I already have a year long comprehensive rental car policy. I had to DECLINE their rip off $9/day policy THREE times. That was the only sour part of the whole process
Terrible.. Lead customer service rep would not help fix my problem when I had a reservation and had a visa debit card with an outbound ticket two days later. I called the main Hertz number and they rebooked a car for me and told me to return to counter because they should take a debit card with an outbound ticket and he refused to even look it up in the system. I ended up getting a car from Alamo. All the other rental agencies would have taken my visa debit. Ive used Hertz for years and never had a problem until now
Horrible customer service at this location. Rude representatives. Not happy at all and will consider using someone else unless Im contacted by managment. Ill also advise all family and friends never to use Hertz again. Thanks Hertz for ruining what was meant to be a memorable trip.
Before you read my review, go sign up for Hertz Gold Plus program! You wont regret it. Heres why we dont. We paid $1.91 this trip for a luxury vehicle because we used reward points. Did you catch that?? Not even $2! The staff are always friendly and helpful. We have a vehicle waiting in a stall for us when we land. Dropping off our vehicle takes maaaaaybe 3 min on a busy day. We also have the option for pre-pay fuel as default on our account and have had good luck with that. This trip we had it on our rental, but ended up flying out much sooner than expected and barely drove 50 miles. I called Hertz and they were great and removed the pre-pay fuel no problem. Well definitely be renting from them again!
Prices different online versus walk-up service at counter. Tried to log into my rewards account and lady told me to hurry up she had to help other customers and asked me to leave the counter. Wouldnt allow me to look up my online rate that I reserved. Felt stranded in a city Im not from and here for on business, I use debit and she refused to help me because I had no departing flight. Poor service.
It was quite busy when we arrived from the airport to pick up our rental (not the fault of Hertz), so we waited our turn (no problem). However, when we got to the vehicle we were given, we discovered it was full of trash. It looked like it had just been returned - not cleaned out at all, not parked by all the other vehicles. So, back inside. The second car was great, though, thankfully! Some of the other car rental places in the same building were also quite busy. It seemed their lines were moving along more quickly. Perhaps more staff can be available at Hertz during the busier times!
After renting a car from this location on Sunday night I was told to get a car out of lot 3. When I got outside there were no cars in lot 3, so I walked inside and asked what to do. I was told to get a car from lot 2, and was assured I would not be charged more due to the fact they did not have cars in lot 3. I was charged almost $100 extra upon drop off. I have tried multiple avenues to contact anyone who can help resolve this but they have all been unhelpful, and every time I call this location no one answers. I have heard nothing from the manager or district manager regarding this issue. Do NOT rent a car from Hertz, this has been the worst customer service I have ever received.
It was nice having the rental lot close to the airport. The staff we interacted with were professional. The only problem that we had was the fact that the car was a bit stinky. Smelled like it was wet for a while and then closed up. Other than that the car drove well, got good gas mileage and the whole process was pretty convenient!
I had a good experience renting from Hertz, Sacramento International Airport. I am a GoldPlus member and my name and car was listed on their board. After examining the provided rental car, I realized the trunk was too small. I spoke with William and he quickly provided a replacement car that was perfect! I was in and out in less than 10 minutes.Returning the car was fast and easy.
I will never rent a car from this place again. After many different calls to corporate and trips to different locations 5 days later after returning the car, they finally close my rental agreement. However I was charged with a mysterious administrative late fee. That I had to corporate again to get a refund for such non sense fee, because I returned the car at the same location at the time agreed in the agreement. They did nothing to accommodate me for the over charges, the inconvenience and wasted of my time trying to figure out their mistakes. Therefore as stated above I will not used them for their services again.
If available I will give negative star .Horrible experience I ever had, The staff has no considerations for customers , just stick into system and says what computer says. If they install vending machine it will do better job. Also system does not accepts debit card only credit card , one of the crazy thing I ever hard. For sure I will never go there or use Hertz for any reason.
Woman at the kiosk was very nice but all the up charging they try to do is annoying. When she went over the fuel policy option (where they claim their fuel is cheaper and lock you into filling the tank when you return) it was presented (in my mind) as an option if you returned empty or full.I was never asked point blank if I wanted it. I later saw the FPO was accepted on my contract (which I never wanted bc I know its a bad deal) and called to Sacramento number to explain I wasnt interested. I was told they could take it off when I returned. Thus I filled up the tank before dropping off. When I returned they claimed they couldnt take it off and it was my fault for not seeing it before I took the car. I told them that I never wanted it and never thought it would be on the contract since I would have said no if asked.I called the corporate office and explained the situation which to their credit they removed the charge. The car itself was great but dealing with the charge was a hassle.
I was at the site on Saturday, 4, 8:40 pm to pick up the rental and the person who was helping me , offers some services and insurance but I said no. But for my surprise, she did put on the contract not 1, but 2 differents insurances. And when i called the billing number they said: we cant do nothing because thats what you have in your contract, Try to solve with the manager at the site when you will be there to drop it off. I dropped off in another site, Hertz at Roseville, and the guy there, said the same.. we can do nothing, because the contract was signed at Hertz- airport. So, it was supposed I pay 33 dollars for 3 days of insurance, thats what I asked and wanted, they charged Me $92, when I signed the contract, and changed for $110 without my permission.. just for 3 days of insurance.. the price for 3 days of rental was $62.. I did use rental cars another time, but never goes like this.. a nightmare!! Never more with Hertz, specially because I did try to solve the problem, but they dont!!!I really dont recommend for anyone!!
Service was good but way too much upselling. I signed up for fuel purchase on return and wanted to cancel it. Told by Hertz that I would have to contact Sacramento direct. Rang 920 6400 number for 2 hours and got no where other than Mexican call center that told me the same thing over and over. Got given other numbers that all led back to the call centre where I was told sorry cant help you. All I wanted to do was speak with someone in Sacramento airport office. Surely cant be that hard. Never had this issue with any other office in USA.Eventually call center told me to go to any corporate Hertz office and they will be able to remove fuel purchase option. I drove for one hour to San Francisco Airport and they eventually fixed my issue. Not really good enough for such a large rental company.
Arranged a transfer car with advantage, to be taken between Sacramento and LA in 24 hours. The guy at the counter was really friendly and didnt try to push any extras. We paid 20 dollars for the basic insurance and a bit of money so that we could take the car back empty (they charge at 3.40 per gallon compared to 4 plus at gas stations). There was a 5 dollar service charge which was never explained but otherwise everything was good.
Hertzs selection of Gold Select cars was excellent. Since I travel a lot, I had built up quite a few points that were redeemable for a free one-week rental (one way). The nice thing was that the fees from picking up at Sacramento and dropping off at San Diego were minimal.Pick-up was quick and so was drop-off. Pleasure to do business with Hertz.
I was told I can drop off my personal car in a parking lot across the street for the day while I used a rental car. However the parking lot they suggested, the economy parking lot, was closed b/c of being full for the weekend and the construction that was taking place. A hertz employee directed me to go to overflow parking lot, and that was closed. None of the employees of Hertz knew where customers can park, had no idea of both economy and overflow being closed. Utterly clueless. Wasted an hour of my morning and my personal gas driving in circle. Never coming back.
They ask for ratings on 0-10 scale, then post them with 1-5 stars. Apparently ratings of 5 or more count as 5 stars, ratings of 1-4 count as 1-4 stars, which is very misleading. They assigned larger car before I got to Sacramento airport, then billed for larger cost and tried to say I asked for it at airport. Never had that problem with any other Hertz location. 800 number refunded 3/4 of overbilling
My 25 year old daughter and 84 year old father rented a car at the Sacramento airport location. My daughter wasnt sure if her insurance covered rentals or not. She should have called her insurance right then, I understand that. My dad paid the 11 dollars a day for the full almost 2 week trip. Two days later she found out that she is covered by her insurance. She tried to call Sacramento Hertz and 3 times, after she told them the problem, she was disconnected. Finally on the 4th, her birthday, I told her I would call so she didnt have to deal with it on her birthday. I couldnt get through either and it rolled over to a central number where after a lot of back and forth, I was told someone would call me back. That was 2 days ago. No one called. I called the local Hertz just so I could find out the policy on terminating the remainder of the insurance so shes not double covered. He said of course it can be dropped for the remaining days but the Sacramento office would be the ones to call. This morning I called again and was passed around to two people. So their big solution to my problem was for my daughter and her Grandpa to drive back 6 hours and return the car and then rent it again! What?! So basically they get every penny possible out of you and then make ridiculous rules (that the ethical employees like the one I talked to here locally, dont know about) so that they dont have to return any of it. It is theft pure and simple. Not sure how those people sleep at night, stealing from an 84 year old man who is taking a trip with his granddaughter. Its disgusting. ( I only gave the one star because you cant post if you dont mark one.)
I reserved an Escalade 6 weeks in advance. I even prepaid to get a better deal. Upon arrival to pick up the rental. They attempted to put me in a Nissan Armada. At the time of the reservation the Armada was half the cost of the Escalade. I told them that would not work. Someone turned I a Yukon XL which is equivalent to a Subutban class vehicle which was $150 cheaper when I reserved. They would not adjust the price and kept telling me , Its a nice vehicle. It was a nice vehicle just not as luxurious as the one I reserved. The workers here are unorganized and not customer service oriented. As a AAA member who rents from Hertz regularly I am disappointed and would reccomend not using g them at Sacramento Airport.
TERRRIBLE!!! Went to visit my mother who is a campfire victim from paradise so I flew into Sacramento and reserved a car at the airport, when I got there the very unfriendly employee took my card and told me because it was a debit card and told me I could not rent a car because of my credit score?? (Which burly the way is poor because of medical bills and the death of my husband)so now my mother has to drive for an hour to come get me,a little heads up would have been nice hertz!!
A bit disappointing this trip. No cars available when I arrived so pickup was delayed 30 minutes. Then the car had a strong smell of something like air freshener which lasted for 2-1/2 days of our 3-day trip, even with windows open all night. Return was fast and charges were as expected.
I was in a hurry because it was late and this company took advantage of it and added extra products I didnt wanted! I already payed the basic parts in advance so I thought the amount on the receipt was the total amount of the whole rental record. But it was only what they added! Payed in total $610 for a 6 days trip. That is way to much as you promoted it for initally $180.Be carefull and check what they charge you even if the line is long behind you!
We left some very important things in our Dollar rental car and happened to be in town the next morning/catching a plane. After a lot of work explaining that the items left were not just sunglasses, Jennifer the manager came and helped us. She brought us the car we had just checked in late the night before and let us check ourselves. After working with Jennifer I would use Hertz or Dollar again just to work with her.
Did not get the car I wanted as a Gold Member. One of the employees tried to sell me on the car they had with facts that were not true and in opposition to the ones I had checked out. Also was told that Hertz is not renting Prius, except the C. A very mediocre experience for all the hype.
From the time I rented to the time I returned the SUV, the entirety of the experience was excellent. The Santa Fe was a good solid SUV and handled well. I rented the SUV to take my daughter to UCLA as a freshmen so space was a consideration along with comfort. Good job Hertz.
Car renter beware!!! Sacramento CA airport Hertz location tried to charge my credit card for $85 worth of gas almost a month after I returned the car fully fueled which was confirmed verbally by the return attendant who check the fuel guage upon return and noted this on the receipt. Nonetheless, Hertz sent me a letter stating I had returned the car 8 gallon short. My call to Hertz customer service 800 was the ultimate insult. They said I would need to go back and prove with documentation that I filled the car by providing a gas station receipt weeks after returing the car (who keeps receipts that long anyway?). They then told me I would need to resolve this by dealing directly with the Hertz manager in Sacramento where the mistake (or scam?) actually originated. No apology, no explanation, just obstinance. This is the way Hertz treats Club Gold? Finally got the Sacramento manager to admit they made a mistake. This took a hour of my time. I recommend people take their business elsewhere.
I made this reservation through the airline.upon reviewing my bill after my trip, I noticed the daily rate offer through the airline was different then what they charged me... ( +$10/day)I had to call the billing department.. they told me another reservation was made at the day of the pick up, it had a different rate.I assume the agent at the counter made a complete new reservation , although they did have my reservation in the system...the billing office is reimbursing me , after 45 minutes on the phone...BEWARE of what of the local rental agents !!!
I had been renting cars from Hertz for years, and I am genuinely bewildered by how rude the agents at this location are (e.g. hung up the phone while I am still talking). We had to stop by to change the car because of some mechanical problems, and the agents are anything but helpful.
Hertz saved the day when our flight arrived at SMF late (midnight) and Uber/Lyft were surging way out of our price range to the foothills. A few clicks with the Hertz app while the plane taxied and we quickly arranged a bargain one-way SUV rental to get home at a fraction of the taxi cost. Fast efficient service and a wonderful car at a great price. Thanks Hertz for Five-Star Gold service. That’s why I’m a loyal customer!
I had recently had foot surgery and had to travel for work. I was pleasantly surprised when I went to drop off my rental car, the gentleman who was processing my car noticed my surgical boot and asked if I was uncomfortable because of it. I tried to be polite, Oh, you gotta do what you gotta do! and he said he was asking because he thought I might need assistance to the gate. He then arranged for someone to drop me off at the gate instead of schlepping my bags on and off of the shuttle.Such a kind gesture at the end of a long trip. Thanks Hertz!
Avis, not exactly... Airport employee was way too pushy trying to sell extra unneeded services. Listening to the customer? Not.Car itself was fine -- except 12 Volt plug ins (2 of them!) did not work which meant I could not use my GPS.No check out to inspect car when I took it. There was a scratch on right rear side of car, behind passenger door, about 1 long and 1/8 wide...no inspection. Fortunately, I was not challenged upon returning the car.
Run away this company, worst service ever. When I returned car they need put stamps when you drop time and date and how much fuel in tank, they forgot out this and when they told me in office airport need that, I came back where car was dropped, nobody there and when I find someone we cant find this car yo check fuel, we spent over 2 hours for looking car which I dropped. After I wanna compensate my time because loose my airplane, they said is not they problem. Then we ask manager to help resolve this UGLY situation, RUTE MANAGER SND AND STUFF.we try take one more car yo get back to hotel and buy another fly ticket, they said they dont have ANY CAR AVAILABLE. UnbelievableF*...k this place
Im a Hertz Gold member and my car wasnt ready when there were many cars just sitting there. This was in Sacramento, a small airport, no one else waiting but me! The attendant just kept telling me the car was coming,And refused to say anything else. Lots of choices which I must consider next time.
Horrible experience. I filled up the tank at a gas station 11 miles away. But I got a letter saying that they had to fill up more than 50% of the tank. I was charged an extra $111 for gas that I never used (I would have had to have driven 300 miles in the 15 minutes that it took me to return the car). Be careful and make sure to note the mileage and take a photo of the fuel gage when you return it.
This place has no customer service at all I am a Platnium member with hertz been one for a few years now and this place in particular in Sacramento airport has no clue what a Platnium member is . Every time I reserve a car I never get an upgrade or same car I reserve they alwAys try to give me something less . Or tell you choose one from the lot if I didn’t like what they had for me worst place for Platnium members . Try to avoid this place
This place is seriously unprofessional!! We called a month in advance for a 4-wheel drive. Morean argued that we requested a full size vehicle not a 4-wheel drive. My fiancé quickly had to put her in her place, and let her know, we didnt fly 1900 miles to lie to her!! Hertz, get it together!! We purposely book things in advance to avoid the headaches you are now giving us. We had to cancel our reservation with HERTZ and go with National, which has all wheel and 4-wheel drive. Thank you National for saving Hertz asses!! Mountain, here we come! Hertz, get it to TOGETHER!! Seriously disappointed!!!! Just lost a 14 year customer!
Horrible service!!!I had reserved for a 8:AM pick up and was at the gold umbrella at 8:30. I was unable to find the car that was confirmed to me. When checked at the help desk rep, he mentions that they re-cycle the car if its not picked up with in 20 mins. I was like really??? a 20 mins buffer only at a airport location ??? and then I had to wait for a good 60 mins for a replacement and the rep. kept saying they are prepping another vehicle for me.
At this location, they never pick up their phones! This is the location where I picked up my current rental, I have been trying to reach this office for last two weeks for my existing rental issues, but no one picks up the phone at this location. I was advised by Hertz Customer Support that only my pick up location can fix the issues I am having but unfortunately they never answer their phones. The only option left for me is to drive there which will take me two hours to drive there! Horrible service! never again renting from Hertz!
DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION... they will try to rob/charge you extra fees.. these managers are untrained to handle situations like this. Everyone from the return guy to the managers are in on it. AVOID at all costs.. uber to a different location and pick up and drop off their. I would give 0 stars if I could.Ive been a loyal hertz customer for 20 years, and have never been treated this way.. never. Please, dont go to this location and if youve had a bad experience, please report these managers and location.
Getting the car is the easiest thing in the world. When I returned the car, I accidentally had forgotten to get my iPad. Initially they couldnt find the car because they take the cars back to detail them so quickly. But I was able to ask Rachel to look for it. She found it within minutes. And then, I received a follow-up call from Robert telling me that they wanted to make sure that the rental went well. This is a high-quality Hertz site, with good, kind people
As a gold member it was cool that they just sent me a text message with the stall number so I could just go straight to my rental, but the car was FILTHY. I dont mean like it had water spots from when they washed it and it air dried, I mean like full on dirty. There were a couple spots where they had a sticker on there at one point, took the sticker off and what was left was just a dirt square where dirt was stuck to the residue.
Overall it was an ok experience with HERTZ this time. Reasons for this were: I tried to link my third party reservation to my GOLD ACCT, and got the run around from 3 HERTZ representatives on 2 phone calls, to still not have it done. Upon arrival at counter, I asked what cars were available in Full Size (the car size we rented), and he told me all we have are Dodge Avengers. Having our car seat with us and knowing the Avenger has a low roofline, I asked if there were any deals to upgrade to larger car. His suggestion was Camry/Chrysler 300 for $30 more per day - which I could have just chosen to rent ahead of time for only $6 more per day. So I declined, and walked out to the car provided, which ended up being a Sonata (but he said they only have Avengers?). Vehicle wasnt in the best shape (bumper damaged, trunk release broken, side panel dented, etc), but was a good ride. Also, windshield and side windows were really dirty, so had to stop at Gas Station to clean windows to be able to see at dusk. Considering all this, though, they were friendly and relatively quick check in upon return.
If being able to call and talk to someone at this local Hertz is important to you, DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!! I have been trying to contact the local office at their 920-6400 for over 12 hours and no answer. I contacted the 1-800 Hertz reservations number and the operator nor their manager are able to get anyone to answer in the local office. I called the Sacramento Airport operator and they werent able to get anyone to answer either.Update:3 weeks later and I still have not been able to reach anyone in the local office. I have left numerous voicemails and have yet to be contacted by their staff. Absolutely terrible service.
We really enjoyed the Toyota Sienna minivan we rented! It was perfect for 4 adults, 2 small children, plus all of our luggage and gear. Very good service too at the Sacramento Airport office. Our adult kids were so impressed with the Sienna, they are going to look into getting one of their own.
Seriously...no shuttle buses before 5 a.m. for early flights??? Line of over 100 people standing outside in the cold before anyone shows up with a bus. And then they have only 1 bus leaving 60% still standing. People having to get Ubers from the parking lot, only to arrive at the airport to stand in line with literally 300 people at security because the airport cant figure out proper demand and supply management from the rental lots. You would think they would know by now that theres an early morning demand peak. Instead, we watched a 2nd bus driver pull up, put the bus out of service light on, walk inside and disappear. Hands down, worst overal rental car experience because the airport shuttle service cant plan ahead.
They added an extra insurance charge and didn’t tell me. The lady there didn’t check it off in the sheet and the manager admitted it. I spoke to him and he agreed to take the $85 off my bill and never did. I have called and left messages with five people and he won’t return my calls. These guys will con you. Watch out
Had to wait in line for almost an hour and then told it would be another 20 minutes to get car. Reserved an SUV and the on line said Jeep Grand Cherokee class. Was given a Santa Few and was told thats the same class. Have rented cars on travels extensively for 14 years and hands down this was the worst experience I have had. Was treated like it was a privilege for them to serve me
Read scary things about Advantage for other locations but it was $100 cheaper than the next rental car company going through Southwest. We got a nice new Camry that worked great for the five of us and luggage for a week. Usual attempts to sell various kinds of insurance and gas. You pass an Arco station a few yards away from the airport - takes 5 minutes to fill up.
Overall good experience - friendly checkin process (although we had to wait 10 minutes when switched cars because the new vehicle key could not be located) and speedy return. Windshields were dirty due to nearby construction but car otherwise clean. Make sure to take right shuttle back to your terminal as there are two in SMF (A and B)
Incompetent employees, took almost 2 hours to leave with our car even though reservation was prepaid. They didnt know the difference between an infant and a child car seat. The manager was always MIA when multiple issues came up. And worst of all, there was no sincere apology about the major inconvenience we experienced.
Pushy counter sales lady. Tried to upsell me for nearly TRIPLE my daily rate! When I declined every extra she offered (at least TEN offers!) I was given the sh*ttiest car on the lot. Coincidence?! Not a good experience. The car return was a breeze; no hassle when rental was done. Was glad to be rid of the Yaris!
For the most part it was good. While checking in I thought there was way too many questions. I had prepaid the car and insurance. The person who works for you didnt speek very good English that was very frustrating and he wouldnt listen. I prepaid so this process would be fast and easy.
Long time Hertz #1 Gold customer and never had this happen before... on drive from Sacramento to Yosemite... had a flat tire while the vehicle was sitting in parking lot of sandwich shop... and found out that the tire had been previously repaired with a plug in an area of the tire that created a very dangerous situation if the tire had blown out at highway speeds. Close to 3 hours later after installing the spare myself and spending $100 at a nearby Wal Mart for a new tire... we were late but able to finally safely arrive in Yosemite. What a day!
I had a VW Tiguan from Sacramento to San Francisco. Great little SUV, comfortable, economical and well equipped. getting the vehicle was a breeze, my car make model and stall number were emailed to me when i landed. I walked up got in and left. Dropping the vehicle off in SF was easy, drove up, got my receipt and took air train to terminal.
Left a CC in the rental car. I cant get ahold of a live person. The phone option for lost and found doesnt work. What should have been a 3 minute phone call has turned into 30 minutes of frustration, and I still havent talked to anyone.I would recommend walking over using Hertz.
Horrible customer service. Why not try to be a little nicer. I understand you may experience bad attitudes all day. However, why not be a little kinder to those customers that are nice and polite to you. I believe the woman that helped us was Alaina, she was incredibly rude!!
This site charged someone else’s rental to my credit card and refused to do anything about it. They seem to believe that multiple people can have the same credit card number, rather than their parking lot operators mistakenly running my credit card for someone else’s rental.
Horrible service, road side assitance told us to go there to swap cars, they had mini vans and bigger cars on their lot, the Curry Manager claimed their was nothing bigger he had, and basically told us to F off, so we had to drive in a tiny jeep with most of our stuff and they claimed they werent able to over ride this bish, then charged us 600 dollars called my bank and told them not to allow the 600 to go through because theyre fraud. Dont do business with HERTZ theyre scammers and bait & switchers
Bad. bad. bad. apathetic. indifferent. confused. its like they make it up as they go. line of 8-10 and 2 people helping (slowly) as we watch the clock tick away. finally up to the counter and she says 25 minute wait for car. it wasnt thank goodness. return car: want a receipt or email? email fine. it never came. one if generous for a star.
Hostile, predatory, rude. These are the best statements to describe this rental agency.4 days on a train prepaid for the car online. Get to agency to pick up car and the employee asks if we want the extended insurance package. I say no. He sneaks it into the contract and charges us for it anyways. Now hertz is saying that since i signed a contract, that i assumed had the services i requested and nothing more, they are not going to refund the fraudulent charges made against my account. The staff at the Sacramento airport location actually said that we cant trust them, the employees of that company. Looking at the type and amount of complaince and seeing how they are all similar i think its a good time for the CA office of the attorney general to take a look at this criminal company.I have put a fraudulent charge complaint against this company with the CA office of the attorney general and will be contacting my bank and treating this like a fraudulent charge/credit card theft.California Credit Card Fraud Laws10 6290Overview of California Credit Card Fraud LawsCalifornia state laws criminalize a number of activities related to access cards, which include credit cards, debit cards, and the account numbers of those cards. Declined the insurance and it was added on anyway then got horrible service from Marquisha and her manager Pawan who could care less that Ive never gotten the insurance before. I hope Maureen who made the booking committed an honest mistake and didnt do this to pad her commission.

2021-12-29Horrible.I picked up my car via reservation and declined the insurance. The service representative asked if I was waiving the insurance, which I said I wanted to do. My personal auto insurance covers my rental. However, he charged me a $17/day waiver insurance charge. When I discovered this later the same day I called the Hertz customer service support number but they told me since it was still an open rental I would need to contact the Sacramento Airport location from which I picked up my car directly. I attempted to do so, the same day, multiple times and finally left a message. However, no one ever called me back. After I returned my car, I contacted the Hertz customer service number again. They told me since the rental had now been closed that they were unable to reverse the charge. They did even confirm that if I had been able to reach someone at the rental agency before I returned my car, they would have been able to remove the charge. So, basically they can add a charge but then never answer their phone to reverse it until its too late. What a racket.

2022-03-24Beware. They will rip you off. I was talked into letting them fill up my tank for me. At first I said, no. I usually get the gas myself at airport gas station. The lady did a good job of talking me into letting them fill it for me. She said, I would get 10% off gas price with my triple a discount. She presented it as if they were doing me a favor. She assured me, I would only be charged for the gas. I was charged $102 more than my rental reservation amount. The receipt was emailed to me as soon as I turned the car in. No way they had time to put gas in it. I only drove 223 miles on a Nissan Ultima and returned car with 3/4 tank left. I called Hertz customer service twice and was told they could not give me a refund. They said only airport office could do a refund They do not answer the phone and you cant leave a message.

2021-07-25My wofe and I rented Hertz in NC at the Airport, drove a car to California and it is the most uncomfortable vehicle I have ever been in. We called the 800 customer support number where they told us to exchange it at the Sacramento airport hertz. Where they gave us a Chevy and after only 1 mile the check engine light came on showing that the stability system was not working and neither was the cruise control, so we went back and they gave us a 2019 Kia that has 49,000 miles along with some nasty smell but we took it anyway, after we drove back to Folsom the check engine light came on in this car and Nathan decided to play manager and refuse to help us even after an employee from another car rental company saw the check engine light was on and felt it missing. We then had to get the real manager out on the lot involved where he gave us another car that before we could even check out had the collision assist light come on along with the lane jeep assist and a huge triangle warning light is on now. We showed the manager and the guy checking us out and neither cared and said “it’s just the collision warning system and the car is still drivable. I can see why hertz has filed for bankruptcy. The worst part is that I have had 14 reconstruction surgeries on my body after being blown up in Afghanistan and when asked why we wanted to change the car I explained that Nathan started mocking me. I know that the other people around are cowards and will not tell the truth about what really happened but I will do my best to get contracts with hertz canceled for some huge companies I know use them.

2022-06-14Rented a vehicle for government use and after receiving my receipt via email, I noticed I had a 100.00 interior cleaning fee. While we did track in some silty soil and some forest duff inside the vehicle, we vacuumed the car prior to returning. All that really needed to be done was wipe down the interior a bit and another pass with a vacuum for good measure. After spending 20 minutes on the phone with Hertz, they declined to refund the fee. The representative on the phone even mentioned that the car had pet hair inside, which was completely false. While we see a lot of animals wandering around in the woods, we are not authorized to give them a lift. I thought maybe they had mixed our vehicle up with another one, but the rep assured me that the cleaning fee belonged to our vehicle. I have rented from Hertz, Enterprise, Alamo, etc for nearly 20 years for field work and have never been charged a cleaning fee. There have been times we have returned some pretty filthy vehicles, Its part of working in the outdoors. This fee comes out of the governments pocket, not mine, so while it doesnt impact me at all, it is still pretty frustrating. It appears that Hertz is just after some quick add on cash to their rentals. I would advise anyone renting from the SMF location to be sure that their car is pretty much spotless when you return it and get a paper copy of the receipt to make sure there are not any extra fees. The representative at check in made no comment about the vehicle being dirty and she took a good look inside. It is bad form to just throw out a fee without any notification. I guess they wait until you have left for the airport to charge you when it is too late to do anything about it. I will be working in the area for the rest of the summer and I will not be renting vehicles from Hertz at this location again. One last thing, Hertz really needs to isolate the sound in their call center. It was very difficult to understand the woman I was talking to with other voices in the background.

2022-05-27Picked up car that we discovered to have mechanical issues. Called customer service, said to bring it to Hertz SMF as we were in Sacramento for the day. Told there were cars available. Once we arrived, we were told there were no cars with a 2+ hour wait. Called customer service again, had to have the customer service agent speak to the front desk as they could not reach them by phone. One front desk employee was very nice, able to get us an exchange after waiting several hours. Later found to be charged a $70+ dollar fee for exchanging a car that had mechanical issues. Unbelievable to be charged for Hertz sending out faulty rental cars.

2022-06-16Terrible experience, very unprofessional service: gold plus memebership not recognized, the first representative first tried to push us into getting a bigger car (which we should get for free if the memebership was recognized!), upon failing, he then tricked us into buying extra insurance by saying all insurance or liability only? as if these were the only two options - and he was very unhappy when we realized the extra charge and asked him to decline all. Eventually we got a tiny car with 30k+ mileage on it (well, this could be a good thing given the high gas price). Very unpleasant experience. My experience with National has been much much better.

2022-06-13Terrible experience and highly disappointed.Prepaid for the rental and insurance ahead of time through AAA. Opted out of extra charges like prepaying for gas and insurance at the counter. We asked what the fee is to add an additional driver, he said the fee would be waived since we had AAA.The sales associate said all of the charges we were seeing were “only a deposit, and you will get the money back.”Fast forward to the end of the rental, we got charged for everything we opted out of and are being refused a full refund. Will not be using Hertz again nor recommending Hertz to anyone.

2022-03-29Rented a SUV to move my grandaughters across the country (California-Michigan) realized by afternoon had no A/C, in 83 degree heat, leather seats! Also , oil change indicator light came on the first day as well. Was not convenient to take back to Sacramento so called ahead to exchange it in Salt Lake City. Was supposed to be all set to exchange, but somehow closed out my rental and had me wait for an hour sitting there , while the supervisor figured out how to fill out the proper paperwork! Total pain in the a**. When I asked for an adjustment to the OVER $2000.00 I paid to rent the vehicle. I was told they couldnt do it there, I had to ask at the drop off. Well, dropped it off today, was told I needed to contact the original Hertz, and the Salt Lake City location was just blowing me off. So , called Sacramento and they offered me a whole $50.00 off! Gee, thanks soooo so much!!! They had to know the air was bad, and I would think they should also know when their cars need an oil change!! Really want me to drive a car all the way across the country needing an oil change ??? Asked for a supervisor, still waiting for a call back.... very very irritating, will not use Hertz again.

2022-05-27I rent cars here frequently. On 5.16 I had a reservation for 5.17 for a pick up truck. (I paid the higher rate that allowed for cancelation on the Hertz app). The price was high, but I figured it would fit what I needed. On 5.16 I found I did not need the pick up truck so I decided to go with a smaller vehicle. I tried to change vehicles through the app and was told no cars available at this location. I canceled the reservation thinking it was a glitch in the app and worst case, the pick up truck I just canceled would show up as available if it was the only vehicle. My cancelation email did come through on 5.16 and I have it. I then tried to reserve another vehicle and the app again said no available vehicles at this location. So now I had nothing there, great.I ended up taking an uber and renting at another location. Then a on 5.21 I see my AMEX was charged $136 by Hertz. I had no idea what it was for so I disputed the charge. AMEX rejected the dispute but did not say why. They did send a vague receipt that showed a rental date of 5.19 to 5.20. There was an 800# so I called it. Hertz apparently charged me a no show fee for the reservation I canceled. It took a while to get the Hertz person to reverse the charge, she pretty much framed it as I did not show or cancel. I did not know I had the cancelation email and code until I checked email after the call. She said the location would have charged it, thus the reason for my review. They had my cancelation, would not give me a car saying they were sold out, yet they still charged me $134 for a no show on a reservation I canceled. I got my money back yes, but I do not get the 2 hours spent dealing with this back and did not even get a simple acknowledgement of their mistake and any attempt to make it right.

2022-05-16Normally when I travel I sign up with Hotwire to save money. Hotwire was advertising a Cadillac for $76.00 a day, so I was looking forward to picking up my rental considering I was going to my wife’s mothers funeral and I wanted everything to be nice. However, when I got to the rental counter they started the old bait and switch that is when they told us the Sacramento location doesn’t carry Cadillac Sedans but if I wanted an Escalade they would be glad to oblige my wife and I for $150.00 extra. We told them we couldn’t pay that price, therefore, they offered us a 300 s. It was 11:45 pm we had just flew in from Chicago plus I just received my dialysis appointment earlier that day. Unfortunately, when we woke up the next morning we saw the scratches around the car and the pitting or chipping on the passenger side rear wheel. I immediately called the Sacramento Hertz Airport Rental to report the problem but I kept being bounced around on the phone. The funeral was on that same day so I decided to let them know when we dropped off the car. On our return trip back to Chicago we let the clerk know we were disappointed about the condition we received the car and we wanted some kind of compensation for the humiliation we experienced. Nevertheless, we just received the Sacramento Hertz Airport response, they want us to pay for all the damage that was on the car. I laughed when I saw the invoice, I said, “You gotta be kidding me,” the invoice was $499.00 which is a dollar less than my deductible, which I feel is by design, so they don’t have to deal with the insurance company. We never pursued the refund instead my wife and I moved on from this horrible experience until I received Hertz Sacramento email asking for $499.00. Please, proceed with caution before dealing with this location; now I have to retain a lawyer, just for the principle.Ronald Milton
