Ive been coming here since around 2008 and have witnessed changes in the management and team. I miss the previous management and team. They made me feel more at home.Yesterday I had a negative experience with an employee in that I asked politely from somewhat of a distance but without yelling, if someone can open a fitting room for me. I didnt want to lose my place. So I didnt want to wander too far. I had her eye contact but she chose to ignore me. A few minutes later I asked again without being unpleasant about it. She finally came over and unlocked the door. I thanked her. Then later I asked to be let in again. I had one item. She told me, no, the fitting rooms are now locked up. I didnt know they stop letting people use them a half hour before closing. I explained I had one item but she wouldnt let me in.Anyway, it wasnt a pleasant experience, and although theyve extended their hours, I had been accustomed to more courteous service. So I mentioned my experience to a manger/lead who said shed address the matter.Overall, the store didnt have quite the appeal it once had and the fitting room did smell of urine. Too bad. It was once a very nice place to shop, and probably the best Goodwill store around.
This store has a lot of inventory that moves quickly. The overall layout could be better. The kitchen/housewares area is extremely disorganized and some items price stickers have been blacked out with a marker. I asked the cashier why and she said it was only on items priced .99 & 1.99 and its because people were peeling them off and sticking them on higher priced items. But then she charged me 2.99 on one of the items I bought with a blacked out tag so go figure... I like to know the price before I check out, so I wont return till they sort that all out.
Woman with the fake braided extensions really should reconsider working around people and the public. First when a customer enters the store and they greet you but you just give a blank stare, second, probably should be wearing a mask due to COVID, third don’t insult a Customer when they noticed you made a mistake and overcharged a customer. Should probably check her dirty hair and dilated pupils in the mirror before going to work
We dropped off a printer and a tv in their original packaging and were made to remove them from the original protective packaging so they could be piled in a bin. I fear they will become broken. The bin also had light bulbs in it screwed into lamps which is very dangerous. I removed the bulbs. The staff person had his mask down. Disappointing operation.
I just spent an hour in there looking for bags & storage items I need, & for decorations for our local Auto Body Shop offices… and an angry employee at checkout instantly ripped every single tag off my items and threw those in the garbage behind her, and then claimed áll this stuff had just come in; actually, for the first time in years I had stopped in last week, and saw some of the same things there. Admittedly, some of the items had multiple price tags, with little difference in $ - it is a MESS in the back section, with aisles full of stuff and tags everywhere. Said checker stormed into the back with now priceless items, then returned stating tags were five weeks old⁉️ What a liar; shed thrown the tags. She was so angry, and literally re-priced everything where I stood, to about triple the amounts. Wow. She then yelled she wasnt going to let any of it go for any less. I calmly told her apparently she doesnt want to sell anything. And left. She threw all the stuff behind her, angrily. What a witch.
Nice place if relatively small has such goes.Has changing stock and never quite know what items will stay longer than a day.Sometimes, if youre lucky , you can find that something you really wanted at a good price. If you do best get it then or might not be there later
Lots of restrictions on the donation of items. Refused to accept even when we arrived within the time window they had provided. Donation acceptance hours dont match their store hours. Call to confirm but its still not guaranteed, based on our experience. Very selective in what they accept.
Compared to other Goodwill stores in San Francisco this one has better quality and bigger selection of childrens clothing. I noticed that the clothes overall are much more decent, clean, and stain free. The Down side is the linen, luggage, books, toys and movie/cd areas are very very small, limited in selection, or non existent.
The male cashier is very rude, I said Hello how are you? He didnt answer ... I asked him if I could pay with Apple Pay and he just shook his head and put the phone on and he yelled “NO Apple Pay”😣I said “thank you, have a nice day and he didnt answer... 🧐Very stressful
Arrived last night at 7:55 pm (per internet synchronized iPhone) to look for a couple quick things and still be at the register by closing time 8pm. Was BLOCKADED at the door by employee smoking a cigarette telling me they were closed. Checked my watch and phone, both of which said 7:55, but she was adamant. We are weekly shoppers here, or rather we were. Will be contacting corporate hq as well.
I stop in from time to time and I look for old beer mugs, they may have something you might collect. I happened to find a numbered print framed for $17 bucks it was valued at $1500+++ everything depends on condition. If youre bored check out a few places it cost nothing to look.
Have browsed and shopped at the Goodwills in the SF Bay Area, Peninsula, SF, Alameda and Contra Costa counties. I rate this as a 3 star because this place definitely has a strong funky thrift store odor. Today was just okay, like the few other times that I have dropped by throughout the year. Lots of H&M, Target, Forever 21, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Gap. There were no hidden gems, no higher end designer stuff. More used, no vintage and no overstock or past season new merchandise that other Goodwills tend to get.
Just make sure u dont buy or try to buy an ottoman when Debbie(one of the employees) is there. Cuz she will chase u telling u you got it from where the shoes were and take it it from you. Or ask her to check the prize on an item cuz she will disrespect you and give you an attitude making you wish u never went there.
If I can leave 0 stars I would. Long story short My dad was shopping here while running an errand and his 3 sentimental family watches were sold from underneath him. The employee, a 5 6 white, possibly Hispanic man with dark hair had no sense of urgency or seemed to care at all. Even though he was the one who sold them. When my dad inquired about posting a lost items sign the manager shooed us away and told us to contact corporate. Well. You can probably imagine how that has been going. It has been 4 days since the incident and my dad has been calling 3 of those 4 days with NO response. So if you want someone to sell your personal stuff I would go to this Goodwill.
They have really changed a lot since I was there last time couple months back . they are not as friendly . my impression is that they rush to get any customer out and are reluctant on helping in any manner . this is only my opinion but you should try and experience this place for yourself .
Was about to drop off some stuff at the donation section and when the employee saw me approaching he got up from where he was sitting and made the most obvious sigh and moaned. I get that maybe you dont want to be at work but you dont make it that obvious to patrons of your business. Terrible.
I apologize for the star crushing. I could not erase it is my first experience. I thought it was good until playing the star I saw a negative sign, please do not take it into account because I had a very good experience. Thank you for your understanding. Best regards. soul

2022-06-25What a massive rip off!!! This location is extremely money hungry and I suggest going elsewhere. I was purchasing a nightgown set (robe and gown) it was on the same hanger and had one price tag. When I went to check out they scanned it twice and claimed because the matching set came it two parts I had to be charged double! Why not put a price tag on both to begin with if that was the case? Their prices are also high, their tank tops are 9$ each!

2022-07-15The website only says it closes at 6pm so I can came here for donation and was told it was closed at 2. Don’t know why they didn’t put the time online. It is really inconvenient and they make donation hard.

2021-12-15I like to go to thrift shops a lot so this one was a change of scenery. It’s a small shop however it has a lot of nice pieces of clothes for women. The people were very welcoming. I bought a women’s skirt and a mens shirt the total was $17

2020-11-17The store itself is OK, but dropping things for donation can be an unpleasant experience. The staff has ranged from pleasant and helpful to downright surly, and queuing up to make a drop off can be an exercise in chaos management. The parking lot is small and poorly laid out, and the staff doesnt seem to care about the chaos with people trying to drop things off. After multiple poor experiences, Im looking for an alternative site to make donations. This particular Goodwill facility has lost all my good will.

2021-04-05Goodwill is turning out to be a purely for profit enterprise. They are trying to maximize income by screwing the customer and enriching the administration. The goods are shoddy and high priced sandy there best summations are saved for their web site. The expenses for administrative costs are approximately 35%, an outrageous sum for a noon profit. Dont donate to this organization!

2021-05-01DONATION IS AT A DIFFERENT LOCATION. This place never answers the phone. I had to drive there to find out they no longer accept donation at this location. To donate, you have to go the address below. Its right in front of Safeway. If you are looking at Safeways entrance, it will be on the far right side with a line of big boxes and orange cones.2255 Gellert Blvd, South San Francisco, CA 94080Open Daily: 9am - 5pm

2018-10-12I was donating items. There were two employees there. Neither of them brought me a cart or offered to help me unload the items. I had quite a few boxes & bags. The other Goodwill Stores that I have been to at least brought a cart so I could unload several things & not have to walk back & forth several times. After all, it is a donation. They could at least be helpful & friendly.

2020-09-08Most staff don’t take social distancing and masking requirements seriously at all: The cashier actually yelled at me for not crowding up to the register while the last group was still packing their purchase into bags. When I asked if he really wanted a to “jam up against” them he said yes. I asked “what about social distancing?” He didn’t reply, but he did at least pull his mask up over his nose. The customers are worse. All feel free to pull down their masks and yell into their cellphones. Nobody asks them to mask up much less to leave.
