Beeing from Germany obviously i love this place. Meats are really good. They also have a great selection of all the other good stuff and chocolates. The hot plates are also really good and fairly inexpensive. They also have all the good beers and other drink that are hard to get elsewhere. They really did a great job selecting its they sell. Great staff as well. Biergarten and all.
Enjoyed a late afternoon lunch with my brother. Offers a quaint Germanic deli atmosphere that connects with 1950s and 1960s retro. There are a few tables inside, but the real treat is the updated patio. We enjoyed cool breezes and ample seating with our wursts.Pros: Cozy and quaint German centric foods and baked goods. A refreshing fresh brewed non sweetened tropical tea. Good quality polish and hungarian spicy sausages. Warm and savory German potato salad, mild sauerkraut, fresh pickles and a good variety of cheeses. The serving portions are meant for a healthy gut with large amounts of fermented vegetables, meats, and cheeses. The rye bread complimented the juicy sausages.Cons: Service was friendly but lacked clarity about their dishes, slow as in same register to handle all transactions. I waited so long to pay that our food came out before we could sit down. That was a bit awkward.
This place is a gem! Gotta stop by if youre in the area. The food and staff are great. Had a sandwhich and a salad along with a German beer (or three). If youve never been to a German market/deli, please do yourself a favor and drop in. It was great to try a few different offerings here. And, to top it off, we got to see George!Prost!
Fantastic authentic German Market. A Gem in SolCal. If you hesitate you will miss out. Try their lunch first in their own Biergarten. Afterwards check out the fresh meat and sausages. The quality is unbeatable. Also you will find Maggi, Knorr, and a lot of name brand products. Btw, if you only speak German, no worries, - the staff will get you covered.
The heart and soul of Calimesa right here in this wonderful little shop. My parents came from Hungary to the Inland Empire in 84, and this little store has been a staple of my life for 30 years now. Come here for the best German, Hungarian and Central European dry goods, beers and wines, meat and deli, and Christmas treats! Come for a cheap, delicious glass of beer and a quick sandwich on their charming patio, for less than $20 - This place is a little gem out here in the middle of nowhere.
Georges is one of the coolest and tastiest delis around. Great selection to choose from. The sandwiches, sides and hot plates are delicious! A hot plate and an ice cold German beer pitcher hits the spot. Definitely a place to try. Be advised: the place is small and busy, but its worth it.
Although I have not been to Georges in over 5 years since Ive moved to Las Vegas in Nevada 1991 I bought a gift certificate over the phone for my family but in past Georges is the best our family has been going there since 1970 the staff is always been awesome and the food and the salads are the best
I love this place. For me, the highlight is the hot plate: your choice of sausage, with German potato salad, sauerkraut, two types of mustards, and rye bread with cheese. I get this every time and every time Im happy and cant wait to come back. Georges also has a large deli section for what is a fairly small place, with a great selection of meat, cheeses, and pastries. Plenty of German beer (including one rotating tap) and European candies. Seating includes a very pleasant outdoor area that stays cool even in summer. Just writing this makes me want to go back again.
Lovely German market with meats, cheeses, breads, sides and all manner of authentic accompaniments. Outdoor patio dining for yummy sandwiches or a hot plate made to order or to have a meeting - we did both. I had a pastrami on rye with crisp pickles and a side of German potato salad which were fresh and delicious. Others in my group raved about the Reuben. Go, you will enjoy the experience.
Great pastrami sandwich and a hot plate with potato salad, sauerkrat, and your pick on sausages with cheese bread. They had about 8 types of sausages to choose from. Small medium size store/restaurant but have outdoor dining patio. A few spots to sit indoors. Have some German drinks, sweets, meats, cold salads, and beer to name a few things I saw in there. There was quite a few people there and it can get crowded because this place is good.
Great selection of German beer and products. I wouldnt recommend their food. Ive worked almost a decade in the restaurant industry, in a restaurant with a very similar menu to this stores. The store has a lot of hype with loyal customers. I believe they would be even more pleased if the food they get was cooked to order on a hot grill with fresh sides made daily, not out of a box or out of a microwave; This store could be great with a bit of guidance. The quality is lacking, seems like everything is pre-packaged and not fresh.
Absolutely loved this place! My husband, son and I were craving sandwiches so we came here after seeing good reviews. It exceeded our expectations! Was genuine and friendly service. Awesome outdoor beer garden also. The sandwiches were all amazing! My husband and son had the pastrami and I had the roast beef. All of the food was to die for! And the German potato salad was so good! Cant wait to come back here again!
I love this place! The people are great and the food is phenomenal! I drive 45 minutes each way just to stock up on meat for my family. They also have a nice selection of beer that I have been unable to find anywhere else. You can have lunch there and hang out in the beer garden as well. Very highly recommend this place.
Yummy German deliciousness! The sandwiches where delicious. The corned beef was really lean and tasty. They have a great variety of gummy candies....and other sweet treats. Its a must stop for sandwich lovers...and the potato salad is delicious too. This place is a gem. Dont miss it.
I love it here. Ive been coming here since I was a young girl, my mom has been coming here since Georges first opened up, now me and my whole family come here we all love it.Great food,we all love the sandwiches and the fresh lunch meats and German weiners and we all love the German chocolates. Awesome place to go. Sonia and George are sweet great ,friendly people. I was just here again today 3/10/2018 and I will be back here again. My mom is German, and we love our German food.
A co-worker recommended this market, as a place that carries the salted licorice I grew up on 😋Now a fave of mine since 2017, Ive met a friend for lunch here, and taken my mom and husband here.Shopping/eating here is a fun day trip and the building is so cute and unique its like visiting another country. The patio has a relaxing ambiance, perfect for enjoying a glass of wine or beer with a half-sandwich salad combo 🍷🍻
This place is awesome. Cute garden patio to enjoy your delicious lunch. German Hot Plate is yummy. I had the bratwurst. Great flavor and snap. Great sauerkraut and German potato salad. Also came with great rye bread, mustard and pickles. Husband thoroughly enjoyed his Rueben on rye also.
Great place for German sausages of all sorts. It is a deli, a lunch place, and market run by George for over 30 years. I found hard to find Hungarian sausage and Munichs Weiss wurst ( Bock sausage), pretzels, poppyseed cake, different kinds of rye breads and crisps, jams, packaged sauces and soups. Really an adventure to find hard to find European foods. Several people were waiting for hot lunches that looked good. A great place of people to try and just off the County Line Road in Calimesa. Worth the visit!
Love ❤️ this Deli. Oma & Opa’s favorite German Deli after coming to the USA. Lots of history & stories about George. The best blood & tongue deli meat anywhere!!! My family’s personal favorite. A real German treat... just call ahead if you’re ordering a large amount of meats.. I have ticked off the lady there a couple times by not doing this. And if you know German women, that would be wise 🤣
Georges is a staple for the German community and those that appreciate this butchets quality, yes hes is cutting and carving his own offering.Everyone knows its pricey to get imported goods but many come there just to get a home made bratwurst, meat salad hearing etc.Our family has always supported his store for decades. Its a bit of Germany for sure
If you like German food this is a good place to go. You can buy sandwiches or a plate with your choice of sausage, potato salad, kraut and cheese. They also sell a variety of meats, as well as foods imported from Germany. I would have given it 5 stars, but I hate wrestling with food on foam plates with plastic utensils.
Highly recommend stopping by Georges for some exceptional meats and baked goods - and beers of course! Whether you are just curious to try some German sausages you wont find at Octoberfest, or you are looking to find the European staples you just cant find anywhere else, Georges has the quality that is becoming hard to find. The people are amazing too. The cakes, bread and sausages are made in genuine German fashion, with none of the cheap mass produced stuff. Some of the foods are actually more local than your grocer made by the same southern California butchers and bakers that George has been in business with for over 40 years! Love this place; stop by if you are passing through!
I wish I could give this place ten stars! Georges is German market and deli that has been going strong in Calimesa for the better part of fifty years. The grocery and deli are exotic and interesting- I always find something new to take home, from sausages and mustards that Ive never heard of, to deliciously intoxicating Bavarian bier that cant be found at BevMo. Plenty of amazing chocolates and desserts to die for as well! The groceries can be kind of pricey (for good reason), but the lunch specials are a steal, ranging from world class sandwiches to hot plates, which features a sausage of your choice and epic side dishes. Always, ALWAYS get the hot potato salad!Heres the best part about Georges: it has that magical quality of transporting you to some other place. When you walk through that sliding glass door, youre transported from Southern California to Deutschland for an hour long vacation! I absolutely cherish this place, and I love bringing family and friends for their first visit. Worth a trip on the freeway!!
Oh, that is fantastic!! The hot BBQ pork sandwich was to die for and hubby had a pastrami on rye German warn potato salad and two candy bars..plus Apple strusal and cherry strusal.. German pickles on the side..was the best 26,00 dollars I have ever spent. Delightful people who work there and the crowd who were there were just so friendly. Its Octoberfest and the atmosphere was fun. Lots of things to try lots of Candy, and products from afar. Wish I had found this gem a long time ago but I will be going back many more times to come.😂😎😘🤗
Second time there. Didnt realize they close at 4. Doors still opened so I thought it was open. Some old lady said do you realize we are closed so I said sorry and was ready to leave. Then she said she would take my order. They were still helping others maybe I was the wrong color. Old lady was not friendly what so ever. The younger ones were more respectful. My wife is half Germany and when I walked out to my truck I told her what happened. We will never give this place anymore business. Will also tell others about the poor customer treatment.
Great authentic german food, including sausages and sides. I hear the pastrami is the best youll find, but I cant bring myself to pass up the sausage each time I go. They also have a rotating german beer on draught, and the beer garden is great. Only complaint I have is theyre closed too early on weekdays and not open Sundays.
We stop in to have sandwiches and pastry and stock up on our favorite German wurst. There is no other place in and around Riverside anymore to get my German Goodies. You can sit outside in the garden patio and enjoy your lunch with a good beer. If you need some German ingredients for your baking they have Vanillezucker and Tortenguß, things you dont find anywhere else.George always has a friendly smile for everyone. A good place to visit.
Bratwurst special was good, came with German potato salad, sauerkraut and a toast. Warsteiner beer on tap was good too. Plenty of German products, beer, cold cuts, sweets, mixes, and some personal items like lotion and beersteins. Theyve been there for quite a long time now.
They totally satisfy what my little German heart (or is it my stomach, must be my mouth) desires! I have NEVER found expired items! Staff is super nice, some even speak German. I go there whenever my German tastebuds revolt for being ignored. No equal around in this area.
George Market is a great place for food different types of beers the outside is a nice place to be on their patio and the people who work there or just wonderful but the meats are my best also the bread good German bread if you havent been there really should go you wont be disappointed
Friendly staff however disorganized and chaotic this place is when 5 or more customers are waiting for food and/or pay for their orders. But the most disappointing part of my visit was the overwhelming number of out of code (sell by date) items there were. After finding so many, especially in their preserve section, I was reduced to searching for items that were in code. Finding some items that had no sell by dates and assuming these were untrustworthy, I left, never to return. TAKE YOUR READING GLASSES!
So apparently being in business a long time and loved by a bunch of locals in a small town is good enough to make everyone’s food with ungloved hands and touch everything that could be deemed unsanitary in the meantime. Also I like how it’s deemed acceptable to heat everyone’s food up in styrofoam Togo containers in the microwave wow so delicious NOT!

2021-12-16First time going. They helped me choose what to eat since I’ve never had this type of food. I was recommended The Ruben Sandwich and the German potato salad. I also paired it with the Beer on tap! One of the best sandwiches I’ve had! The potato salad was warm never had that before and it was so delicious! The beer was also great kinda sweet. The whole meal was delicious! Will definitely be back soon! Go try it!

2022-06-04I was out in Calimesa since my son was taking his SAT at Yucaipa High School, and noticed there was a German deli. I had read about it online, but being there in person was much more impressive. There are not a lot of German markets around anymore, even where I live. I got to meet the owner and he is 86 years old from East Germany. Great guy!!! Very pleasant to talk to and since my grandfather was German was kind of fun to make that connection. The deli has a great selection of meats, sausages, pastries and cheeses--not to mention real German beer. I found a little tiny keg of Hofbräu and purchased that. The young women at the counter were very polite in fact one struck up a conversation asking about my son and they both happened to be in martial arts which was kind of fun and interesting making it seem like the world is a lot smaller than we think. You dont have to be German or European to shop here. If youd like a good selection of authentic meat, sausages, cheeses and pastries, then go here and dont forget to say Tschuss!

2022-07-03This charming, family-run deli market is the BEST place in the Inland Empire to get your fix of German cold cuts, meats, and imported foods and beverages. Weve been coming here for over 25 years and the service, quality, and selection have remained consistently high. I definitely recommend!

2022-02-22One of my favorite places to go. Picture this. Its a nice spring day and youre on the back patio with a cold beer in one hand and a Reuben sandwich in the other. Youre sitting at a table with a few other people and they have live German music being played. The staff is always super friendly too.

2021-09-29Great German Market + Biergarten. Georg, the owner, has been here since the mid 1950s and still operates this business with his daughter. His German Salami is the best!!! Well stocked market with lots of traditional German goodies. Great sausage & deli meat selection. Their Landjäger is from Mattern in Orange and really good, but only sold in the big packs - isnt a problem for me because they freeze well. Excellent bread & pretzels. Highly recommend the German Butterkäse (Tilsiter Art).

2022-03-11Georges is our favorite deli. True German delicatessen open Tuesday through Saturday in Calimesa. Imported goodies and fresh made items. Fresh meats in the butcher counter. True Rye breads. Cheese sliced to order. German potato salad and sauerkraut. Sandwiches made to your specific taste.
