The hostess/waitress is literally schizophrenic. I am saying this with the hope that someone there helps her get the help she needs. She said a lot of strange random things, and was angry, rude, and a little scary. She randomly told us there was no first aid kit and that the trap door was locked. 🤷♀️ My husband wanted to leave because she made him so uncomfortable, but I was hungry and convinced him to stay. The food came quickly and was good. As we went up to the counter to pay, she said, Are you going to pay or what!? I am the literal bride of Christ and I am quiting this job right now! Anyway, owners, if you read this, that girl needs help.
It took forever and our order was wrong but the way those people worked was amazing. They were shirt staffed and had 18 firefighters come in right before us and they deserved any minute of the attention.
Food ok, not great, only place open on a Sunday night in Alturas. I ordered the chicken fajitas buritto, came out flat. It had maybe a cup and a half worth of stuffing in it. The sauce tasted like a thin barbecue sauce. You get more fajitas stuff when you order just fajitas. Very disappointing.

I hope they were having a bad day.....got the whole order wrong and twice for one of them. When we finally got the right thing the food was not very good. Like I say I hope it was a bad day. The server that took the original order got it wrong but the server that came with the food was very nice and put up with all the wtong things.

Great food and friendly staff and service. They have a large platter for $40 and it come with all sorts of stuff for small gathering or group meal. I love the nachos and enchiladas. My wife doesnt get anything other than Enchiladas A La Crema. Prices are fair also. One thing is they tend to not remember to fill drinks and you usually have to catch them on the fly if you want refills of your beverages.
This place has really good wet burrito
The food is really good here. The staff were attentive. The wall paintings are of the area. The desserts are authentic and look and taste great. The prices are fair and the service was timely. It is easy to park and leave.
There were 3 red flags we neglected to heed.We shouldve turned & walked out.1. No real Mexican tacos2. No alcohol in margaritas3. Customer across from us, couldnt eat her burrito. Didnt like the taste.After we ordered & food arrived, not one of the seven meals were even remotely good.Very disappointed. Oh, & the server was not happy to be there.
Most of the Mexican food in the area is very casual, so this is a nice option for sit down table service (although in a very casual friendly atmosphere). The food is hot and delicious, you can order spicy or non-spicy options, good chips and salsa, easy parking, great for seniors.
Maria, the owner is a real love! She is so personable and she touches every table. She works her butt off and you think shes just one of the waitresses until you find out she owns the place. You gotta go there.

Exceedingly friendly staff. One of those great family oriented Mexican restaurants where you can sit in a big booth and be served a piping hot plate of enchiladas with beans and rice. My wife thought the food could use more spice.

Expect great Mexican food here.. Some Mexican food joints make me ill and the food goes right thru me😜.. But not here ! The food is Great, super saucy , the plates are very generous in size and the prices are fair! Definitely worth a day trip if you live in the Reno area like I do. If passing thru be sure and stop by El Agave Azul in Alturas California and enjoy an awesome meal with a very super friendly owner! Wish I had took some 📷..
When I was here before my review was so-so & only 2 stars. Thankfully my husband talked me into going back and it was great! Food good, service good, whole experience gets a 4/5!
The food was way below average. Tasteless but etable. The dining room was pretty. For desert but we had the flan but sent it back because it was so disgusting. The owner came out and yelled at me. Lol. She questioned me on how I make my flan and said no one has ever complained in 8 years. I love flan. I order and make it all the time. I have never tasted anything like it. It was dense and hard. I had to spit the first bite out and the other two people in my party wouldnt even take a bite it looked so bad. I would never go back to this place and I wouldnt feed her food to my dog. Before the verbal assault on me she yelled at another customer and threw some booster seats around and stormed out of the dining room. Our waiter was practically non existant.
I simply enjoy their dishes. I always get fantastic service there. The place is clean and the employees are always very kind. Would recommend to others.
El Agave Azul has a wide variety of foods on their menu. All of their staff is very nice, and accomadating. The food quality gets 4 stars though.

Amazing food. I usually base Mexican food off their salsa, which was also amazing. Our waitress was very friendly, and even watched us eat the extra spicy salsa... Too make sure we survived. Lol!
We came into town on 10/2/16. We were quite pleased with our meal. I had the chicken flautas, which were very gently braised in a mild red sauce and were wrapped up in flour tortillas with a bit of cheese oozing inside. I had no idea flautas could be that tasty! My husbands chicken mole was also delicious. He was happy to find a restaurant offering it. The decor is casual as is the clientele. We will definitely return next time we are in the area.

2022-04-06What I ordered off the menu was not what came out on the plate. I asked to look at the menu again to see if I misunderstood. The server was just like I dont know I also ordered the big margarita and it was big but you couldnt even taste any tequila. Service was not good. Food was mediocre at best. Would not go again.

2018-11-08Friendly small town restaurant with good food. I had the pork carnitas and it was excellent. My husband had the chili verde and he felt it was lacking in flavor/spice but good. Good place to have a gluten free meal.
