This is the most disgusting place on the planet. This is only cheaper than enterprise if you don’t value your time at all. 2-3 hour line waits, and won’t let anybody skip the line for funerals, weddings, OR FOR DOLLAR MEMBER EXPRESS MEMBERS. I spent and hour setting up a corporate account just to be able to use the express line, and they said “no, everybody waits in the line”. These employees are incompetent, rude, obnoxious, pathetic, and insist on making everybody around them angry. I BEG you to spend a little more money going to enterprise. I will NEVER set foot in a dollar rent a car again.See pictures below of a 2 hour line with 2 employees behind the register working
Worst experience ever with a car rental. You wait in the line for an hour only to be told that your reservation means nothing and you’ll be waiting another hour for a car. The person in front of me in line was trying to pick up their rental early. They got put ahead of me on the wait list. I have a toddler I can’t transport without a rental, so I’m just hanging out here fuming. If you rent here rent through hertz gold otherwise you’ll be sitting here for HOURS. The associate at the counter says it’s like this every single day.
The absolute worst option for rental cars. Employees are rude, dont care at all about your reservation. Said you have to wait 1.5 to 2 hours for a car even though a reservation was made for a specific time. Terrible dungeon type office. Employees dont care at all. Just awful. I got a refund immediately and went through turo. Save yourself the hassle and book with a reputable company or turo. This place is unbelievably bad.
Hands down the worst experience I’ve ever had with a rental agency. We had a scheduled pick up time for 11:15 am. We Arrived to the pickup location at 11:10 straight from our flight only to find an outrageously long line. We waited for nearly two hours to get to the front of the line where we found out that Hertz car rental was handling all rentals for dollar and thrifty as well as their own and only taking people with hertz reservations from the line, not either of the other rental agencies they were supposed to be tending. After standing in line for nearly 2 hours, we were told there were no cars available and we would be added to the wait list and be called as soon as a car was ready. Come 4:15pm we STILL did not have a car. We called to request a refund and were told it likely was not possible even though they still had no cars available. Chose a different rental agency after hearing this news and got a car with no issues immediately upon our arrival. I will not be using hertz or dollar in the future and will certainly not be recommending the company or their customer service to anyone.
If you are looking to rent at dollar/hertz/thrifty I would suggest you rent elsewhere. They are all in shoved into 1 location now, not sure how it was before. As others have said this location has been hit with delays in the last couple of months, even when when you book ahead online.I booked a car online here, and when I arrive I had to wait 1 hour - 1 1/2 hours just to be told there were no cars available. Their excuse was they were understaffed and had no one to clean the cars. The representative told me to give them my cell phone and they would contact me when a car became available which they said would take an hour or two. I decided to go next door and rent a car, it took around 15 minutes and I was out of the airport. Felt like a chump waiting around just to be told there were none available. They finally called me back at 5pm, and I told them to cancel it because I was long gone and at Venice beach for a wedding rehearsal by that time.I wont be renting from them again. I suggest you look elsewhere and ask ahead first to see if there have been any delays in getting vehicles at the place you want to rent.
Great experience good customer service. It was very busy and it took sometime to get waited on. At the time of visit agents were processing more than one car rental agency. My experience with the debit card was a deposit of $500 and a credit check. My friend decided she would use her credit card with a lower deposit. Im not sure of the deposit because only one person could wait inside. When we returned the vehicle with no problems paid in cash and her deposit was returned.
Beware to anyone who is renting a car from here that the wait time in line is over an hour then there is a wait time to get a car and that wait time is 1 to 2 hours. If you have a schedule to meet. The only way to make it is to pay for a premium car that they may have. We were told by the counter person that this has been going on for two months. Would be nice to know up front when you order your car as nobody in our 75’ long line knew anything about it. Our $800.00 dollar rental ended up being $2100.00.
Unfortunately there are many companies like Dollar who perpetually fail to realize that the employees who constantly deal with customers must have a friendly attitude. It seems that Dollar doesn’t realize this and is willing to stick anyone with arms and legs at the counter.I saw a warning message on my rental car saying “Engine Malfunction” so I took it to Dollar to have it exchanged. After having to wait 1 hour in line during my vacation I get to the counter and Max is the one helping me.The reason Max is a horrible representation of Dollar Rent a Car is because he can on leave his personal demons at home and brings them with him to work. This was my first time using Dollar and what I got was an Engine Malfunction right in the middle of my vacation, a lengthy 1 hour wait , and a downgraded car because they were “all booked”.Maybe it’s just me but that is a really bad first impression and it’s unfortunate that Max failed to realize that a simple “ We apologize for your inconvenience” would have deterred me from writing this lengthy 1 star review. Instead Mr, Max decided to be rude and impatient so he could rush me through and get to the next customer.
Worst rental car experience every. Most everyone else was told they would have to wait up to an hour and a half for their car to be brought up. I didnt have to wait because I had reserved a premium car. Within an hour and half of picking up the car the tire went flat. No spare tire in the car. After 3 calls to their roadside service and being on hold for FOUR hours between all three calls I was still stuck with buying a new tire myself for $200 (plus using my own personal roadside to get it towed) and wasted my first day in California trying to get a vehicle I could actually use. The manager I spoke with at the location when I dropped the car off was understanding but couldnt do anything because his manager wouldnt allow it. Tried to complain to their corporate customer service but just keep getting a canned response- thanks for contacting us well get back with you shortly. A week later and still no response. Hope the next person that gets the car enjoys the new tire I bought. Never again will I rent from Hertz or Dollar.
I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Dollar rental! Erin was so kind and friendly and made sure I was taken care of. We waited about an hour for our car, but I was expecting that due to the pandemic and the high demand for cars. Dropping the car off was a breeze and the gentleman helping me was very nice and patient. I would definitely rent from them again!
Possibly the worst car rental I’ve ever experienced. We rented the car in time, we booked Chevy Malibu, instead we received Chevy spark. The car was noisy and uneasy to drive. The main issue was returning the rental. I forgot my glasses and asked if I can get it back. The guy told me that he can’t help me since there are lot of cars and will have to come back again tomorrow. Please avoid this place since their service is HORRENDOUS!!!!
We forgot a FitBit watch in the car when returning. We noticed right away and called. We were told to fill out the lost and found form, so we did. They said the item wasn’t found but we 100% know it was in the center console. They were unclear about charges and the pickup/drop off was super disorganized. Not worth the deal we got for the rental. Super disappointed and even more disappointed to know that they don’t put any effort into lost items.
Unfortunately, we went on a Friday morning when the line was several hours long. It was really intense and the cars were running low. The thing I have to say that made the experience bearable was the very brilliant manager, Dwight who was amazing at giving updates and keeping everybody from rioting. Basically, the staff were all super lovely but the line nearly broke me.
I really don’t see what the big problem is, they gave us 2020 Durango eight speed auto, For size it was decent on gas. Even though we are dealing with Covid I waited about 20 minutes in total. There were two associates working that day and even though there was a line building, be patient and expect a wait time. I’v learn this many of time as being prior military. I got my quote created a month before arrival and was roughly what was expected. If you don’t know this, when you get a rental at an airport there are always additional tourism and convenience fee always. My only grip is that there is policy where they can only avoid fuel charges by prepaying at a higher rate or filling up within 10 miles of airport if not you’d have pay there rate at $9.99 per gallon, IMO is outrageous. Lucky for me there is are two Costcos within eight miles of the airport, they have the lowest price for gas anywhere. Also if you use a credit card you automatically get a rental car protection with your company, but confirm with your credit card. drop off was a breeze. I would use them again just know what your paying for.
Worst customer service! I was charged way more for my rental than what was shown online when I booked. I understand added fees, but they added almost $100 and didnt explain what they were for. Calling customer service was a waste of time. This company is crooked and post lower rates to get their customers and then tack on fees once they have your card. Save yourself the headache and use Enterprise. They are upfront with their rates.
Had to wait 3 hours at lax which we could not do, so took Uber to o.c. told we could get same car at John Wayne airport,Airport, we ubered there. Then waited for 3 hours there to be told we couldnt get a car. We lost Original$250. Plus had to pay for additional car at 4 times the original rate. Out $750. total with Uber rides. Never again. Horrible
Waited in line for over a half hour to have someone come to tell me it would be another hour and a half.....got online rented a car from another agency and was gone in 20 minutes. No reason to take some airlines poor suggestion to use. Got charged for the car I didnt rent also. Dollar gets no business from me in the future.
I oftentimes say if its a one star review its more about the person posting than the business, but I cannot give them more than 1 star. We flew in to attend a wedding, got into line. After 15 mins, we were told that this line was to put our name on a list and they would call us in 2 hours so that we could come and pick up our car. They told us just to hang out inside the airport while we waited. The man said he was sorry to give us this news, but he did this everyday. If this is happening daily, maybe you should fix the problem or rent to fewer people to avoid this backlog.
First let me start by saying that I have been renting cars for many years and have never had an experience quite like this. On the night we rented from Dollar it was a Sunday and they were the only ones open at John Wayne Airport. We asked to rent a compact vehicle so the agent started the check out process. She asked all the basic questions: Name, address, phone, Drivers License, credit card info and if I chose to add insurance. She then said that instead of the compact she would rent us a BMW at the same rate. As she started talking with us more she decided to put us in a Ford GT. When I approved the added insurance I believed I was only signing up for the basic package of something around $17.99 as this was all I needed. This was only supposed to be for a little added protection. We told her the rental was needed since our car was in the shop, so it might take a couple of days or more. She told us our deposit was $200 or so and that our daily total was around $57 a day which we believed was the rental plus insurance. We had the vehicle for 4 days and my friend whom was also an approved driver of the vehicle returned it with half a tank of gas. We knew that we were going to get charged extra for the refueling charge which the lady at check-in said would be about $9.99 a gallon. She estimated it would cost us an additional $70 or so. This wasnt a bad guess since the additional gas charge came to $79.92. We were expecting our final bill to be around $300 but couldnt get a receipt at time of check in since the system was down. After checking my credit card a few days later I noticed they had charged my card for $578.12. As seen from the attached photo of our receipt we were charged a total of $230.28 for damage waiver & insurance. We were further charged a late return fee of $32 since the original rental was marked down for 2 days. Can you believe that, a late return fee for renting a car. Never heard of that type of fee and was never told about it at the time of renting. Was also charged $55.20 for a Concession fee recovery which is what you get when you rent the car from the airport. When I spoke with customer service on the phone the lady explained that we had signed off on the original daily rate but since we kept the vehicle for 2 more days the rate and everything else was changed. How convenient they changed the terms to meet their needs. That doesnt seem very ethical or trustworthy to me and I can assure you I wont be renting from this company again!!!
Criminal business practice. Returned my vehicle with a full tank (filled across the street from the drop off at John Wayne Airport). They took the keys and said we were good and nothing to sign and no receipt (they would email it). When I got the email they charged me $80 for fuel. After waiting on hold with customer service for 30 mins, they just gave me and email to report the issue and send the gas receipt. Fun fact, their customer support number had fuel charge as their second option for calling. Dirty business practice and they should have a class action lawsuit put on them. Luckily I have access to all of the information and can argue my case easily. I’m guessing most can’t and they get away with stealing peoples money with false fuel charges all of the time. Also “concession fee recovery charge of $31... what a joke.
I believe they have a really well-balanced business model in maximizing profit by ripping off every single stranger who unfortunately incurs the wrath of being their customer. I sincerely respect Dollar’s product planning team for developing series of well-designed traps they can fully utilize to charge their users in every occasion, avoiding any legal issues. Their cost structure is also a key differentiator since they only have to hire the least number of FTEs and they don’t need to spend SG&A on training of employees or CX function whatsoever.Once the customer leaves with unsatisfactory experience, it’s all good as he/she already paid a grand, enough to sustain their business. There are more than 300 mil population of potential victims still remaining in their addressable market. If this company goes for IPO in the stock market, I would buy as many shares as my bank allows because I am highly confident that this company is performing well.
No body working at the desk 0 employees due to covid other car rental companies having to assist but take care of their customers first. waited over an hour for a car !!!!! The worst experience ever , should have gone to enterprise, will go to enterprise in the future.
Tracy was so great! We were his last customers for the day and he was having computer problems, but was remained so nice and easy to work with! He upgraded us to a very fun car that really made our trip more enjoyable. It was our first time renting a car and he made it a great experience. Thank you!
Worst customer service ever. Sat on hold for over 30 minutes two days in a row. Then on the 3rd day someone finally picked up after 28 minutes. I explained that I had verbally declined their insurance at the counter yet they still charged me the daily rate. basically too bad, you initialed it on the contract. Well i know you also initial to decline the coverage. so completely shady and deceptive. I will never ever ever use their awful company.
The rental car was clean and was in great condition. And the rental process was easy.My complain is against the lady who works at the front desk. When I went there to pick up the car that I reserved, she kept pushing me to choose the fuel prepaid option, saying Oh, the gas around LA is close to $5 dollar per gallon, and you wont want to refill the gas by yourself...bla bla bla.... And before I signed, she already put that on the contract and said that she couldnt change that any more. I would need to refill the gas and then cancel that when returning the rental car. I returned the car to LAX and the manager there did allow me to get refund since I refilled the gas by myself, but it took me some time to wait in a line to do so. And on top of that, the gas that I paid for at a gas station which was 1 minute drive from LAX was around $4.09 per gallon. She lied.I really dont like the way that lady did the business. And I am not sure why she wanted to do that. Did she get any commission when persuading people spending more money?
So i have been renting with them for over a month due to a training that requires me to travel. I signed up for the express membership so i could possibly get a free rental being that i spent a lot of money over this time.I have accumulated 600 points thinking a will be able to use as they promote a free weekend rental. So i called to apply those points and she tells me they can’t use the promotion. On top of customers service nasty attitude i will never rent another car with this company. They are not honoring their word. I would not recommend this company to none of my friends or family.
Checked in very quick at the counter. Saw the car that I was assigned and explained how it would not fit my golf clubs, and the attendant checked right away if something else was available. Luckily, they accommodated my needs. The return was very quick and smooth. Charges to my credit card we as agreed upon. The only negative would be that the underground location of the check-in and car pick up place was a little hard to find, but that was because it was my first time and now I know.Thank you for the good service, price and quality of vehicle.
Dollar car rentals is a complete joke and so is their staff. They didnt charge me once but TWICE for my car rental after they messed up and gave me the wrong car and paper work. I told them I did not want their insurance and yet they still charged me!!! I tried to get my money back and they said no because I did not dispute it with them when I first got the car. These genius messed up initially and cost me a 2hour delay on my trip which caused me to miss my dinner reservation. I will NEVER recommend this trash company and I will make sure no one I know ever uses them.
Friendly staff!Actually went to rent a car from another rental place, read the horrible reviews on the way. Decided against the initial rental place and saw Dollar Rent a Car. Tracey was the only person at the counter around 8pm.He was super friendly and helpful! Pick up and drop off was literally, surprisingly easy.Pick up: Tracey did all the work. Only thing i had to do was take the receipt and walk and pick up my car. Showed receipt, the attendant handed me the keys and i was on my way.Drop off: brought it to the SAME exact spot i picked it up and an attendant checked a couple things, done deal. the few extra dollars that was taken as a deposit went back into my account.BOOM done. Thanks again Tracey!I am actually gonna be renting another car tonight as my car needs to go into the shop tomorrow morning! Hope Tracey is there again!
Extremely bad service. A dishonest business. Trying to get us to upgrade at a very high price. After we rejected it, she only gave us the smallest car in the range and told us it was the only one available, which was actually total bull***t as the other staff sitting outside told us there were all available. When we signed the contract, she added totally unnecessary insurance in the price without explaining to us why we needed it. also the complaint line is just an useless tool. Totally waste of time without any helpful solution. We will never come back and hopefully nobody else will fall in their trap.
It’s cheap prices for cheap cars and cheap customer service. There’s a 200 dollar deposit. This is important to know because if you don’t youre treated like an idiot so don’t forget that. The book being read is more important than you (the customer). The people working are just cashiers, get your money and get you the hell out. Forget the customer service. No car walk through given and the cars have employees leaning on them which is very odd and unprofessional. The managers are huddled in the back chilling like its lunch time at highschool and only come out to talk trash on the previous upset customer which blew me away. Even if the customer was wrong how are you going to come out and then talk such negative words with others customers on the floor SO WEIRD WHO DOES BUSINESS LIKE THAT. Anyways like I said cheap prices cheap cars and cheap customer service good luck!EDIT : the original post had more stars giving benefit of the doubt it was just a bad day but reading everyone reviews it’s justified to throw it down to one.
I travel often and have rented cars from multiple companies (including multiple dollar rental locations) but this location, hands down, had the best customer service. Customer rep Remy was the politest and the most friendliest customer rep i have ever encountered. I booked a suburban for 2 days but upon my arrival the car wasnt available. I was very angry and was being rude to Remy but he kept the smile on his face and proceeded to look for cars from other locations. Instead of just shoving me away like other rental companies reps do, he found me another big size SUV. If you ever fly into SNA airport and want to rent a car i would definitely go to Dollar rental and talk to Remy.Again thank you Remy for assisting me
I have been doing business in San Diego for a month so each week I have rented from Dollar at John Wayne airport. I have had great luck, great service from the front desk and in the parking garage. This last car was terrible. I will never take a Mitsubishi again but it wasnt their fault. In the future I would just say I want a different car. They have been super fast, helpful and professional. Give the a high 5.
Ridiculous service. I was charged for additional features I didnt ask for. I paid for the car with credit card points so it was already paid for before I got there. The teller said I was only being charged a deposit that I would get back after I returned the car and then we never got refunded. Upon calling the company all they said was, Im sorry I wasnt there to hear the verbal conversation. You should have read the contract.I will definitely NOT use this company again.
Vehicle windshield was filthy and had to drive 2 hours to exchange car while on vacation due to door locking issue. Was only given a certificate for $50 off next rental which will probably not be used due to not renting frequently. Would have been satisfied with $30 refund to compensate for time and gas to exchange.
They promised a car for me during a phone call. 1,5 hours later they told me that they cant give me a car because the reservation has to be made 24 hours in advance. I literally asked about this in the phone and they told me its okay.So I lost 60$ because of taking Uber both ways for nothing. The african-american fella working there was nice though and apologized for the uninformed promises.
I rented my full size vehicle in Santa Ana, CA. The picture shown was a 200 black Chrysler which looked like a fine car. I was given a maroon Nissan Altima with very squeaky brakes. It was a bare bones vehicle that was not in the condition one would expect from a rental car company. The person who helped me at the desk seemed to be asleep at the wheel. I waked to the counter where there were two employees. One was having lengthy conversation with another customer. She was standing directly to the other employee who was just sitting there. He made me wait 10 minutes before helping me and there was another gentleman standing behind me. When he finally decided to help me, he tried to convince me to get insurance (I have insurance). He tried to convince me to pay $55 upfront for any tolls I may use. I declined because I wasnt certain I would take any toll roads. He attempted to talk me into it, stating that it would save em money (not if I dont drive on the toll roads). I did end up paying one toll in the amount of $3.07. The last thing he tried to sell me was a full tank of gas. He stated that it was less expensive to buy it from them because It was $3.50/ gallon at the gas station. I declined that as well and filled up $3.07/gallon. Once I finally got to the car (dollar is the last rental car company and the furthest walk.. which I didnt mind but some might), the gentleman who gave me the keys was a nice enough guy. Upon my return of the substandard vehicle, the lady who took the keys and inspected the care was nice and quick to get me on my way with giving me directions. My son is going to school in Orange Co so I travel there often to visit him. I will not rent with Dollar again.
I filled up the rental before I returned it but I drove maybe another 15 miles so, admittedly, the gage dropped to less than 1/8 or just a hair below the full line. The guy who I returned it to, who seems did not want to be there, and probably lives in the basement of his moms house, charged me a full 1/4 gas which is about 3 gallons at $9 per gallon. 😠Anyway, I complained to customer service and a person named Marion Landazari emailed me and assured they would credit me back the fuel charge. So, now I am writing this because almost a month later I didnt get my gas credit back. He never emailed me back. I tried to reach out numerous times to no avail. Be aware when you return the rental.Update: I finally received my fuel refund.
If I could give this rip off business no stars I would. All I can say is READ that lengthy contract you sign with them. As a tourist on vacation, I wasnt aware of how toll roads work since we dont have those in my city. I just recently received fines in the mail from this company saying that we didnt pay for toll roads we used. We ended up of course paying the actual toll company, and I expressed how dishonest it was for them to not give us a warning for toll roads knowing we were from out of town. All they had to say was you should have read your contract. I now owe $150 to these people for simply misunderstanding how toll roads work. Free money in their pocket for something that had no effect on them since we already paid the actual toll company. I will NEVER rent a car from this company and highly recommend no one does either. Nothing feels worse then getting ripped off!
I reserved my car, then they said they didnt have it and tried to down grade me to a smaller vehicle which wouldnt work. While they said they were preparing the vehicle I waited an hour and half to find that the guy who was processing me went to lunch without completing anything. To try and resolve this they sent me downstairs to the VIP area, who sent me back upstairs, who then tried to send me back down before I said NO. At this point my guy returns from lunch and gets me the car I originally ordered. As I pick up the car they scold me for being late, I was early, you dumb f**ks took over an hour and half to figure out how to do your jobs. Then, I get charged for someone elses toll. The car was dropped off at 1:01pm, was charged someone elses toll at 5:01 pm and am now having to take several hours to resolve this, including calling customer service back twice to get them to email the receipt to prove this. Each time with the exception of (1) person their call center has the most miserable women answering. Free Business advice, employ competent people & if they answer the customer service line, dont treat the caller like they are responsible for your miserable life.
This branch the people they work they are very rude especially an older african american guy it is unprofessional !!! we had questions to ask about certain things and they are very disrespectful. also we reserved a car they gave us a different car they didnt upgrade or give us discount. terrible and i wont ever go back to them or recommend them.
The agents appear to be uncertain of what is or isnt available to them. I was told I couldnt add my frequent flyer number to the reservation till I signed up for a Dollar Express account. Then I called back and got another agent who could add it without issue except he kept saying American Airways, and I had to repeat at least six times US Airways at which point he kept repeating back American Airways (to be fair US and America could be interchangeable in another context). I imagine they have the airlines listed in a drop down box?? I asked about a promo code i saw, and the terms and conditions online were not consistent with what the agent saw on their end. Anyway, Im not certain if they got it right but will hope for the best.
Shame on you Dollar: You have slipped language into your contract which is extremely shady and deserving a reprimand. Beware renter: Dollar will assess a $15 administrative fee onto your credit card along with the road toll which is assessed electronically Because the option to pay as you go simply doesnt exist on some toll road. Dollar will tell you that you must decline this option at the time of rental but, they wont actually tell you. You know the car rental drill: initial here, here, here and here. What if I dont initial as requested? You dont get a car. That doesnt sound like much of an option to me. I call it legal gymnastics. Beware!
Most of the workers that work here should get a job they enjoy doing. Iran, Dwhite, jeff, and a few others are very unprofessional and rude to paying customers. Ive complain to managers on site and its funny the managers take the employee side instead of the pay customer. If and when croprate reads this i need someone to contact me asap. (Orange county john Wayne Airport.) No managers need higher assistance.
John Wayne Airport Dollar Rent a Car service is quick with easy-out, easy-in from and to the airport. The staff is friendly, professional and very helpful making the experience very positive. I will continue use Dollar Rent a Car service when ever I fly in and out of John Wayne Airport in the future.
When I examine my options for rental cars at John Wayne, Dollar often offers an attractive special or price. Since the cars are all in the same place, there is not advantage to using Hertz or Avis. Just be careful not to be put into a Yaris when you reserved a Ford Focus; they are downgrading the car sizes whenever possible. Since when is a Hyundai Elanta a mid size?Fortunately, the staff reasonably offers alternatives to the sub-compacts posing as compacts and so forth.
They sell you cars with toll access and tell you can use all the toll roads. flat out lie, or they have uniformed employees. go somewhere else oh and you cant speak to any supervisor at the Santa Ana agency and you have zero recourse to resolve any dispute. totally shady and dishonest!
Slime ball counter dude. Using used car sales man tactics to up sell you cap you dont need. We visited at 1130 on 05/18/16 and watched him deploy these Greece ball tactics to the customer in front of us. When it was our turn he tried to pull the same crap....Quickest way to loose my business is being a Greece ball. This guy does not deserve to have any job in retail or customer service.
Cant get same car or similar to what I have book the to get one similar I have to pay double than what I already bayed, I asked them to cancel the contract they told me to call the third part(dealler) as I booked from. 2022-06-28The absolute worst rental experience of our lives. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! We had a reservation for 10am. Arrived around 10:20am - at 1pm still no car for us. No real explaination from (the barely english speaking) counter rep. They send you to a dungeon garage to wait for a car where we sat for 3 hours before we called Dollar to get help. The (barely could speak English) rep on the phone who I couldnt understand at all, just pretty much said yeah sorry you have to wait until there is car. I have never in my life went to rent a car and it not be there. In over 20 years of renting cars this was the WORST experience we have ever had. After waiting for almost 4 hours, we went to Budget instead where they were friendly and fast and spoke clear english.

2022-07-05Just got charged for a full tank of gas after I filled it myself 1/2 mile away from the return. Customer service indicated I needed a receipt for the gas. That make no sense since that would not have verified if the take was full or if I added 1/10 of a gallon. How could that help my declaration of a full tank. Stupid idea. Customer service was unable to locate a phone number to call the location to verify anything. But I should wait 5-7 days for a response or 24-48 hrs for a supervisor to call back? How could they verify anything after it has been put back into service. Nice person on the phone, but totally unacceptable policies. Dont rent, find other options.UPDATE: 36 hrs later a supervisor Ron calls me from corporate billing in El Salvador who indicated he was the highest person that I could talk to, provided nothing other than the ,well the people who lied about the the tank not being full said they had to add 9-10 gallons of gas. My guess is someone is stealing gas and charging customers. Horrible service!

2022-02-15Rental car process was mediocre , but straightforward. Had to go to the parking garage and find the combined pick up counter. Lines were fine compared to what other people have posted.I was charged for additional insurance after specifically declining all coverage, and providing insurance information to the agent. The car was fairly basic, but fine. Now Im wasting my time trying to get refunded for insurance I didnt want or need. If you can rent from somewhere else, do it.

2022-07-15Rarely do I comment on line but today was ridiculous. I prepaid for a Dollar car rental online at Orange County airport and was greeted at the car rental spot by an enormous line. The kiosk was for Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty. I stood in line for an hour and a half before I reached the desk. As we all waited, the Hertz customers were invited up to skip the line because they apparently paid more! We were told that even though they all fell under the same umbrella the Hertz customers were more valuable. Ironically when I finally got my Premium car from Dollar it was a Hertz Gold car. Unbelievable!!! Please fix this problem. It is not acceptable.

2022-04-04They were telling everyone in line their cars were at least 2-3 hours away. Even though we had paid reservations. Not every car could be late. This was a simple von/cash grab on their part. Very stressful way to start our vacation. Amazingly if we were to pay more a car would be available instantly. The exact same make that we had reserved. Very Shady operation. The car was clean and fuelled at least. And drop off was easy.

2022-06-21The car was a nice little car but it smelled like cigarettes. Also if your office has to be located at the farthest end of the terminal, I suggest providing a shuttle. Its quite a walk when a person is hauling luggage. I would rent again from Dollar, these are suggestions to make the rental experience a little more comfortable.

2022-07-18I booked a reservation through Priceline. I chose the suppliers choice car. I paid for a tank of gas when I picked it up. It was a little tricky finding the rental counter through a winding maze in the parking garage. A little better signage would be great. There was no line at the counter. Got my my keys and car within 10 minutes and we were on our way for a very fun vacation. The car was a clean, going running ford focus.

2022-06-02My partner and I made a paid reservation to pick up a car after our flight into OC. We were told the wait time would be 2 hours (the optimistic estimate was 45 minutes). We have a 2 year old child and werent in a position to wait that long at the airport. Even without a child this is an unreasonable wait time. We opted to ask a favor of a family member to get us, but later were told our reservation is non-refundable. What horrible service; Im almost impressed at the gall!

2022-03-16Prepaid for a car to be picked up at 11 am. Waited well over two hours for my car while I watched Hertz give their clients cars immediately. No apologies, offer of water or upgrade. Caught the ladies in lies as to the reasons for the delays. Never experienced service so terrible. There is no customer service number to help, no manager, and no caring worker. Terrible!

2022-05-24Well what can I say first time and last time renting with Dollar car rental, I paid well over $300 usd for extra insurance that the clerk at front convinced me I needed other wise I wouldn’t get my car that I reserved and paid for online. Called to talk to them about a refund they said no can’t get it as I signed the receipt and the clerk gets commission from it, don’t used this company save your self the stress, time and money. Go to a more reputable rental car company.
