Our family stayed here for 7 days while visiting our daughter in Long Beach. Very nice hotel, rooms were nice. One thing that I thought was very peculiar, was the fact that they took down their free coffee at 8AM! Some people don’t even get up by 8. Yes, there was coffee in the rooms, but normally hotels offer coffee and hot water throughout the day. We did not try out the restaurant in the hotel. The other item that I was not happy with was the fact that they put $160 on hold for 4 days in a row for incidentals! When we checked out, I asked about these charges with the front desk and they said that those charges would go away. It normally is a $50/day charge!!Then after we checked out, the next morning a charge was put through for the week stay at the hotel…we had previously paid for our stay before we arrived! I had to once again contact the hotel to get these charges taken off. Something seems remiss about all of these “charges”.
I love Marriott hotels. They are always clean, accommodating, and fancy for a good price. This one was no different. Staff was great and we were all able to check in early and use the pool. The only downside was that the restaurant did not have dinner and all the restaurants around the hotel or at least an hour wait but the breakfast was amazing.
We had a wonderful stay! The area is close to restaurants and it was surprisingly calm for a Friday night. Our concierge was lovely and kind. Parking was a breeze. The room was clean and tidy. It was an absolute delight! Would recommend this place for a cute staycation.
Would not recommend this hotel. Elite benefits were non existent. I’m a platinum member and requested for late checkout and the front desk said I would have to call the next morning to ask! What happened to the guaranteed late checkout benefit for platinum members! ?? Requested high floor and quite room, did not get that either. At checkin, front desk said they don’t have the king bed that I booked and they would give me two queen with a view but then within a minute some how “found” a king bed room and guess what, it was on a low floor, noisy and with no view at all. Worst experience!! It’s a hassle to use the food and beverage credit welcome gift, had to ask multiple people multiple times to ensure credit was applied. Wow, this is a new low for Marriott, I would strongly suggest to take your business else where. Try the other hotels in the area, don’t waste your time with this business. They will treat you like your business means nothing to them.
We were there for the Long Beach bike tour and we received nothing but superior service from all levels of employees from parking attendant front register cleaning service and The room was welcoming bright exceptional! Most restful sleep and comfortable. We will definitely be back. Thank you all!
Everything was expensive (water $6, Breakfast $16, parking $28) and coffee was chincy in the room and there is NO coffee in the lobby. So Bring your own water and stuff, unless you have money to waste. The place was clean and staff friendly, but it was a very expensive two days as I had two rooms and hungry/thirsty teenagers.
My stay was good and the hotel is nice but parking is a problem and expensive. Overall the staff is friendly but if you go out at night you need your key to gain entrance. The pad wasn’t working for us outside and we had to go inside and show ID with our key. The staff doesn’t service your room unless you call them. The view and location was great.
The lobby is cheery bright and welcoming and offers coffee (but not all day). The music in the lobby (and restaurant) is narrowly appealing childish and abrasive pop crap. Why not something with a broader appeal like light jazz, bebop or bossa nova? Even light classical chamber music would be supportive and pleasant. As pleasant looking as the lobby is, I did not wish to sit in it. The first room (210) in which we stayed overlooks an alley, where we were subjected in the afternoon to heavy and not always pleasant (burnt meat smelling) cooking smoke from a nearby kitchen and it also was above the area where the neighboring kitchen staff went to smoke. The second room (203) overlooked the pool and was flooded with daylight as well as continual lighting of the pool area. IN the afternoon and into the evening, children shrieked with delight as they do at pools. The walls in room 203 exhibited substantial staining from presumably am adjacent bathroom. Our shower (a roll in) had a too short shower curtain which left the entire bathroom floor puddling. A better design would help here.Counter staff was pleasant; cleaning staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Front desk did not pick up phone when calls to it were made from the rooms. The in house restaurant is an underused facility. Perhaps becasue it sits at the end of a dimly lit hall, perhaps competition from the street is fierce - hard to say. Very nice place to sit, especially on the two legged outside deck that sits over two feet above the street level. An ample sidewalk passes by and the deck overlooks a very pretty street scape with palms rising above pastel painted low buildings across the street. The music in the restaurant sucks (corporately selected I am told) - I already said this but it really detracts for what I think is a winning spot. The food is reasonably priced and is very nicely prepared but there are not many items or variations on the menu. Wait staff are very nice. The access from the street is very understated and almost feels like one may be sneaking in. In fact it was locked without signage often forcing the unsuspecting to scale steps to fail an attempt and need to figure out they needed to walk around the block to the lobby entrance which is unremarkably situated in a driveway. Better presentation (coordination) for both entries could be made. While the street based seating of other restaurants nearby thrived nightly, our hotel restaurant was empty.
The staff here is always so welcoming & friendly! This was our second stay at this location. The first stay the General Manager called us the day before to see if we would be arriving before normal check in time so he could have a rook ready for us. This second stay, the General Manager went out of his way to congratulate us on our Anniversary (which we were staying here for) sent us a personalized card as well as a free bottle of champagne to celebrate!
Stay was incredibly disappointing overall. Hotel was overbooked and couldn’t deliver my initial reservation. I had to be very uncomfortable in an alternate room the first night. They said they would call me to next day to change rooms and never had integrity. After a solid hour and a half at the front desk the second second day I was able to switch rooms to what initially booked. They offered to validate my parking and also did not have integrity or follow thru with that. Won’t be staying here again. Management needs improvement. No accountability…
When I checked into my room on Oct 21. The fridge in the room wasn’t working. I called down to the front desk and was told that it did work and that they didn’t recommend storing perishables in it. I wasn’t sure at that point what was the point of the hotel providing a fridge in the first place. I was transferred rooms. My new room’s front door didn’t work so I had to wait outside and wait for someone to fix it. It turned out that room 618 can be opened while pushing the door handle up rather than down. To top it all off, there was barely enough water pressure to take a shower, let alone wash my hair. The warm water kept going in and out. I did not have a good experience at all and I would never recommend this location to anyone. I will be writing a litter to their corporate office as well.
I wanted to take my daughter to the beach as a surprise. The room was nice and the presentation of the hotel itself was great. However, Saturday evening my daughter an I got stuck in the elevator. A maintenance man had to pry open the door to get us out. Because of that I ended up having an anxiety attack. The front desk told my husband “it was a safety” issue. There was no concern of myself or children were ok.
This should be a 1 star hotel at best. They do not enforce the mask policy. The elevators are extremely slow. Even when no one is around, you will be waiting. The balcony is tiny. The shower as no pressure and knob fell off. The noise is insane. You will not be able to sleep. The hallways remind me of a horror movie. I would not have been shocked to see the twins appear in the hallway asking us to play with them. The staff as no personality and are bland.
The balconies are way way too small. Just like t pool. Which didnt seem to get any sun.But the ambience inside was very nice. James Republic was the very cool restaurant inside t hotel. Totally loved that place. In t lobby, there were these wonderful old pics of Long Beach. Totally cool n authentic. The employees were very cool, helpful and professional. One employee was a little bit of a jerk. But overall, I was treated very nicely.
Positive: The location is perfect. Close to everything you need. Negative: Really poor communication with the guests. They didnt say anything about requesting service to clean the room the night before.I clean my own room 4 days. Too expensive for poor service. The parking 28 per day? Really?
Just good for a short stay. Clean. Location is good and good food is available nearby. Can walk to the beach few blocks away. Don’t expect anything extra because of your elite membership. Parking is separate. Don’t pay extra for those so called balcony rooms. Balcony is a joke without any chair .. they are so narrow that even a chair can’t fit. Plus the view is not great. Beds are comfy and room is very clean. Everything works.
As all hotels try to assure us that they are clean and sanitary, Marriott hotels probably havent changed much.I have never stayed in a Marriott that wasnt immaculate the moment I walked in. This one was no different. The front desk was kind and efficient. The room was good sized, and the sheets were a good thread count. The next time I will be staying overnight in Long Beach, I will absolutely stay in this Courtyard again.
We stayed at this hotel for my birthday. The hotel was great for its price point and location. However, we did have an issue not being able to stay in the room we originally booked directly through them. Apparently they didn’t have anymore available. This was definitely upsetting but they did comp our parking. The room was nice but not what we planned on getting. Also, the plumbing in the hotel was backed up so we did not have a flushable toilet. Besides our issues we dealt with, we still enjoyed our stay and appreciate the staff.
I’ve stayed at this hotel on multiple occasions and while none of them have been extraordinary in any means they are usually acceptable. This time was less than as I found multiple hairs in my room, the air makes a strange noise at times, the tv wasn’t working, and when I requested a different room I was informed that they were sorry that they couldn’t move me even though I knew that there were other rooms available as I overhead someone else checking in and making reservations.
The hotel is in a phenomenal location, staff is super nice and helpful, rooms are clean. The parking garage is a little pricey, but they were nice enough to validate it for us. If you have your own car, I highly suggest using their parking garage as its nearly impossible to find street parking. Tons of nice cafes and restaurants within walking distance. 10 minute walk to the beach. 20 minute walk to the downtown/harbor area where you can go on a whale watching tour. Very happy with my stay here. If I ever come back to long beach, this is where I would stay.
Positive: Clean room for the most part staff was pleasant. Close to many restaurants and businesses. Negative: Rug was extremely stained, balcony was tiny maybe about two-three feet deep, WiFi wasn¿t working, didn¿t allocate military rate, no microwave, no laundry bags.
Items were stolen from our truck the first night we were there. We have never encountered a problem with a Marriott before. We called the front desk and the supervisor was unavailable. So they took our information and said they will pass it on to the owner of the parking garage since this is shared with others that rent a parking space. And they also said they will be in contact with us via email but so far no call or emails. Very disappointed. Also breakfast service was slow at the restaurant. We will not be coming back to this hotel.
I chose this place because I had stayed at Courtyards before. This stay convinced me that I would have been better of staying in a low budget motel. I orderd a king no smoking room, and found myself in a double bed room. I was switched, o a room with no towels and a defective TV. The desk was fine but their backup sucked. We were on h first leg of a honeymoon trip, an as a 90 year old groom, I have experience in good and ba hotels. This was just plain BAD
Booked a package with breakfast included, but receptionists said it was just the room. After about 30 min trying to get a hold of someone in customer service(phone), I was finally able to talk to a person who could see my package reservation. However, front desk still would not agree with that. I got tired of the situation and I quit fighting with the receptionists. At the checkout they charged me for the whole package. Unbelievable! . Plus I found a huge cochracha in the pool area, my daughter got super scared. I would not use/recommend this hotel.
Absolutely wonderful experience. We chose the courtyard after a very poor experience at greenleaf hotel, and it was an excellent decision. Room was spacious and tidy, staff were very kind and helpful. Room door, unlike greenleaf felt very secure and I was comfortable leaving my belongings in the room as we went out to explore.Parking was onsite and plentiful, no issues trying to hope for an empty spot or having to walk a distance to retrieve it. The valet was super nice and very attentive, I really enjoyed talking to him. The staff took care of everything and we were able to enjoy our time spent in long beach. Thank you!
The hotel is in a fantastic location. Everything you would ever need is within walking distance. The hotel has a great atmosphere and the employees were all very pleasant and accommodating. I had a great stay at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown Long Beach and would definitely come back again.
Very unprofessional staff and poor customer service. They charged me for a service that I never used and got upset when I complained about it. It took weeks to have someone to look at my case. Very disappointed of their service. On top of that, hotel had COCHRARACHS. My daughter got fricked out when she saw one next to the pool, I wish I can upload the pictures of it. Water in the pool smelled and tasted funny. I would stay away from this hotel.
Really consistent with any other courtyard by the water, always terrible service and terrible experience. I have seen many issues here since the first day, the worst is whenever you put a request through the app for towels, housekeeping etc , they accept it and mark it complete without actually doing it, you have to call and ask multiple times which is a big red flag. The room itself wasnt clean to begin with , there was a lot of dust on top and inside the coffee machine , multiple areas of the room looked like they were never clean. I have lost all respect for this hotel and most of the courtyard Marriotts near any beach because they have been consistently some of the worst hotels I have ever been in. I would not recommend staying here given the bad customer service and the repeated terrible experience , there are plenty of other options near by, dont support a hotel that gives up on customer service and doesnt clean the hotel room because they think they will get customers anyway since they are near downtown Long Beach.
I had a horrible experience with a hotel across the street. I decided to cancel that reservation and move to the Courtyard and I’m so glad I did! I was greeted by a helpful valet, and the desk staff even upgraded my room because it was my birthday! My room was comfortable and most importantly I felt safe there. If I ever stay in Long Beach again I’ll be at the Courtyard!
Worst hotel stay I have had in years. If I could have left my first night I would have. It was like sleeping under a bridge. Either every room in the hotel sounds like this or the front desk person thought it would be funny to assign a loud room to someone who had placed a pre-arrival request for a quiet room. The hotel staff knows about the sound because they provide earplugs to “quiet the sounds of Long Beach”. Not only that - the hotel did not have all the regular toiletries (conditioner) and of course they were not even the same line of product. Do not recommend.
Completely enjoyable 4 day stay in Long Beach. The customer service extended by all staff was excellent! This was a long awaited mother/daughter trip and we both agree that choosing the Marriott contributed greatly to our enjoyment. Location is within walking distance of waterfront attractions, restaurants and shopping. Daily parking rate at hotel was surprisingly reasonable, especially in a downtown area.
Had multiple problems trying to enter our room with the hotel key card. Went twice down to the lobby to let them know and replace the card. The final time we decide to call and let the front lobby reception “Steven” know we are still having a problem if he can have someone come open the door for us. He said sure I’ll send someone up. 30 minutes passed no one came to help. Called again the receptionist a women told her the problem and she wasn’t aware of the situation had repeat myself once again. Thankfully she send someone up right away. Thank you Steven for the bad service.
I enjoyed my stay here, however I did have two small issues to speak on. First the room could have been a bit cleaner. There where stray hairs in the bed and shower. And the sink faucet handles were icky. Also I kept getting questioned about staying there from the staff. Several times when I entered the building I was asked if I stayed there....I know that during Covid things are different but I didn’t see them question anyone else except me. I hoped it wasn’t a racial thing since I am a black woman. But it just made me uncomfortable especially because one lady kinda chased me down just to ask me what I was doing, when I was simply just walking back to my room. Other than those two issues my stay was fine. The room was comfy and nice. Location was the best part to me .
Checked in the evening after a long vigorous day to(1) be given a key that was deactivated,(2) dirty room the floors havent been swept in a long while so there was long hair and dust on the floor in central locations,(3) dirty bathroom with used towels still present, long stringy hair in the sink, brown residue on the soap bottles, and no bath towels.I appreciate the maintenance guy quickly coming to let me in my room when I called and also Allen from the front desk who came to help me move my belongings to CLEAN room. I am very disappointed in having to deal with any of this subpar cleaning especially during this time. Not sure Ill ever stay here again, well see how the manager handles this situation.
When we arrived to the hotel we were told someone else checked into our room under my name, luckily they were able to find us another one. They let us know that parking was $28/day- they waived it for the inconveniences. The lock on the door to enter the parking garage is broken(shouldn’t charge anyone for parking when you can’t rely on the safety of your guest’s vehicles from people outside). Room was clean and comfortable. In walking distance to great food and shops. Ear plugs were given, walls are thin.
I picked this hotel because per the map it looked like it was in close proximity to the water. Its hard to know when you havent been there before what other factors may make be there to make it less convenient then you thought. It would have been a bit difficult to get to the water. One main factor is Long Beach is more of a harbor than open ocean. A lot of homeless. There were some nice restaurants nearby. Modicas Deli was very good. Outside seating with good Italian food. Also on the corner across the street from the hotel is Long Beach Taco Company which is excellent. The hotel is very clean (and Im picky about that), staff was very nice and accommodating. No relaxing outside seating area which was a disappointment. Overall a nice place but if I were to go to California again would look for a different location in an area Im a little more familiar with.
Was totally excited booking this place lady at the time of making reservation was completely awesome but as we arrived it started going left no one ever explained or educated us on a $28 parking pass LOL but due to our rooms and the floor situation is being screwed up that was taken off once arriving to the room which I paid for an executive high floor corner room with Harborview with balcony come on now you guys that’s not a balcony and I got put on the fifth floor I got a bunch out I’m sorry But evidently no resolutions bathroom towels were dirty bedding was stained room overall was nice and big but really bummed out about the floor not being higher the bathroom and sheets dirty . What’s really upsetting is I also had two separate families and two separate rooms they were also very disappointed some came with breakfast some dead and over the same price kind of odd I was told there was room service her breakfast there was no room service older gal Saturday night let my Uber eats order stay down in the lobby with her and get cold with no worries of letting me know. So sadly this location I don’t think I’d stay out again Day of checkout asked to speak to the manager I asked her to call me because I realize she may be busy never heard from her do you want to give a shout out to the chef with the restaurant he did go above and beyond and take care of me and my family one more thing Family had a friend who booked a room not a reservation but was put on the seventh or eighth floor how is that possible when I make my reservations for a high floor??!! Weeks in advance
The lobby is beautiful and up to the Marriott standers. The room is outdated and the shower had hair in the tub. I did take pictures of it and showed it to the manager. They had house keeping come and clean the room. Theodore the manager did make it better. Thanks Theodore!
Concierge cleaning is available only after 3 days of staying. The front lobby is beautiful but deceiving. The elevator continuously smells like weed every time we use it, at any hour of the day or night. As soon as we entered the 2nd floor where our room was located, there was a strong, pungent odor that resembles a fish market. We thought it would subside however it has not. We also found an acrylic nail on the floor in our room. Very pricey and not worth the value.
The hotel is just okay, but not bad, not good. Literally just an average Courtyard. The location makes it not so great because the city of LB can be loud at night with sirens, etc. However, for the price of the hotel, considering there are not a lot of great affordable locations in LB and Seal Beach, this isnt too bad. Doubt well stay at this CM again, but we do like the brand.
What a horrible experience, one of the worst hotels I have stayed at , they treat people like garbage and did not want to acknowledge any of my ambassador status benefits, did not fulfil basic requests until I called multiple times ( like extra towels), just an awful hotel and awful management at the front desk, the room was dirty when I checked in with dust all over the place, so disappointed with Marriott and this hotel , I will avoid this place like the plague next time I am in the area. Disgusting
Our room was very dirty, upon arrival we noticed hair all over the shower and floor in the restroom. We turned the water on to wash it away, the water was backed up. I then called the front desk to request a new room. They moved us to a new room. It was even worse, dust all over the floor, restroom was disgusting. By far the WORST Marriott I have ever stayed at. I will never stay here again.
Wile staying at the courtyard Marriott my girlfriend an close friend were laughing having a good time an around 10:30 we get a bang on the door! Not even a call or normal knock. An when I answer the door the security guard said you need to be quite, I said ok but we are not even being loud but what ever. He prosecuted to turn around and leave an he stoped and said “or the next time I come back won’t be so good” so I shut the door and realized that he just threatened me. So I went down an complained an they gave me no name or anything I will so I am very disappointed at my stay.
When we arrived, the staff at the front desk seemed to be annoyed that we arrived. It felt as if we were inconveniencing them that we arrived. After learning that they was no complementary breakfast like most Marriot hotels, I felt like the hotel was blaming COVID for not providing everything that was advertised on the website. It felt like I was over charged for what we received in accommodations.Along those lines, we get up to the room, I could tell that the room was hastily cleaned and there were no soaps or shampoos in the bathroom. I called down to the desk to have some brought up but they never showed up the whole time we were there.I will never stay at Long Beach again. I feel they need to take more pride in what they do and provide better services to all of their guests.
The customer service is Bar None! The entire staff was EXTREMELY accommodating, professional & nice! The hotel rooms are very nice & the beds, very comfortable! Not to mention the location of the hotel... Perfect! Walking distance to just show everything... Shops, the beach, dining & family activities! I love the area & enjoyed it equally! Great experience!!!
The facility was clean and the front desk staff was friendly. The king room was spacious. However, the wiring for the TV was a mess, and every time it was on and I used the coffee maker, the breaker tripped. Resetting the breaker was a pain bc it was behind the furniture, and the TV wouldnt always turn on. Also, we asked for a microwave for the room (we stayed 9 days) and although they said wed get one, we never did. Because of the reduced staff, they dont clean every day, so be sure to ask the night before when you need the room cleaned, otherwise you might not get on the schedule.
Stayed at this hotel for a week and all I have to say is I’m so glad I did. The hotel is beautiful and spacious, staff members are so sweet and helpful. Location is great! Right in the middle and walking distance from restaurants, beach, and the Pike Outlets. Def will be back. Thank you Courtyard Marriott!
Great location in Downtown Long Beach California. Walking distance to some of the BEST FOOD in SoCal. 555, Utopia! Cream de LA Crepe, WaWa -Pineapple Mango Smoothie is life., Breakfast Bar, Padre.Hotel Staff are professional courteous accommodating. Banquet Rooms Open for events. Bistro open with yummy breakfast options. Good free coffee in lobby morning only. Comfortable beds. Do LBC from 1st and Linden! 💁💙
I checked in and checked out. The room was horribly filthy. Spatter red stains on the bed headboard, carpet stained and oily, bathroom toilet not cleaned properly and marijuana smell emanating from the hallway. I took photos of some of the issue. I tried to get an upgrade at my cost but I was told the hotel was completely booked. I ended up going to the Hilton to stay which was great.
Pretty good hotel. The lobby is nice, the staff made me feel comfortable and were always friendly. I felt things were cleaned well during covid-19. Hopefully after this is all cleared up they will update a little more, seriously they need to get rid of the popcorn ceilings in the rooms.
For a Marriott I expected more. Was told they did some renovation and the first room I got had alot of white walls. Many flaws in the work but because walls were dirty in he bathroom I moved to another one with a smaller bathroom room but the walls were clean. I prefer carpet versus the area rug they use that made the esthetics look off. There was useless tables that made things a little difficult to get around. I was there a week with my family so yes I was very crictical. Supposed to be no smoking but cleary the didnt have cameras to see it. I had to let people on my know that I had an issue with the smoking and with them if they didnt take it outside. The pool was very small for that many units so I didnt even attempt to use it. It seemed boxed in by the hotel.
Got in the room and there was a blood stain on the mattress, stains on the seat, we couldnt even shower because the shower was clogged that when we took a shower we had to get out because the water filled almost to the top. We had to run to the store before we showered to buy shower shoes because the shower was dirty. They only tried to refund us for parking and said because they got a complaint that our dog was barking. Even though we had to sleep in a disgusting room for two days because the first night the front desk didnt even answer the phone.
The room was extremely nice until you laid on the bed. I felt springs in my back all night long. Not to mention the parking lot was extremely sketchy with the amount of junk vehicles that were present due to people being able to leave their vehicles there for months at a time.
I initially booked a hotel for a staypass promo wherein i can have an early checkin and late checkout with my overnight stay. Diana the supervisor of Mariott courtyard downtown long beach told me that they are not sure if my package (staypass) is good for an overnight stay and I might have to leave around 6pm the same day because they are fully booked. She said she cant give me an answer right away and have to research for an hour. Of course its 3 pm and if shes right, I have to find another hotel. I went back to my room and started researching the package that I got. It turned out I was correct and my package was an overnight stay. I tried explaining to her the moment I saw the answer in the Marriott webpage but she rudely turned me away. Mind you, im a guest too at the hotel and I waited in line to talk to her. I hate that I have to go thru this just because she doesnt know her hotel rates which is so embarrasing considering shes the supervisor. Ive never experienced anybody who is rude and unprofessional. Her inefficiency and cluelessness of not knowing the hotel rates are causing unnecessary stress to her guests. Please, please train your staff Marriott! Please include good manners too starting with your supervisor Diana.More
It was amazing! The hotel was so modern, nice and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful and it was about 10-13 minutes walking distance to the beach. There is a grocery store named veho I believe.. I can’t remember but it start with a letter V about 3 mins walking from the hotel and it was super convenient. There’s also an Italian restaurant named módica right beside the hotel and it was delicious!! And amazing prices, and they have so many choices! I loved our stay in this hotel and many restaurants nearby as well. It was heartbreaking to see homelessness be a huge sight in not only Long Beach but California. But hopefully it gets better.
The hotel was overall very nice and neat. We appreciated the friendly staff and delicious breakfast served in the morning at the restaurant. The bed was comfortable and so were the pillows and blankets. The bathroom was very well lit and clean. We were given more toiletries upon request. Very close to downtown LB, great location for a night out.
We checked into room the sofa bed had a huge blood stain on it we went down and let them know what was going on the said they would send someone up to steam clean it..3 hours later know one had showing up so on our way down to have dinner we talked to them . The lady @ the desk said that they showed up and we told them not to worry about it. . I told her know one ever showed up . So she said that they would take care of it ...we got back from dinner and cocktails and got back to the room and thee cushion looked like if they had just sprayed water on it and tried to wipe it down.. grabbed the whole cushion took it down to the reception and told them I didnt want that nasty dirty thing in my room. I was offered snacks as a compensation.. i laughed bit my tongue and walked away Never again will i book a suite with them again.
Overall, our experience at the Courtyard Marriott Long Beach was lovely. We came from Los Angeles to spend the weekend with friends in the area for July 4th & we grabbed a room to avoid driving home in the congestion that night. The hotel and room were surprisingly clean and nice, and the hotel was located conveniently to the activities and friends that brought us to town. There was one front desk lady who could’ve soured our experience with her unapologetic attitude and lack of willingness to help with a pretty considerable maintenance issue in our room, but the other front desk man swooped in, called the engineer, and things were fixed in a matter of 20 minutes. (She was the only staff member who was “sour.” Everyone else was as sweet as can be and super kind / helpful.) Otherwise, I would say we were pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel and staff were for the price!Overall, we were very happy with our stay. It’s not a super high end place, but it’s actually surprisingly modern-looking and very well maintained! We didn’t feel like we were in a “bargain” hotel/motel, and this hotel definitely earned it’s 3-stars!! I would absolutely recommend this place for a quick stay (1-3) days. There’s not a ton to do in the area, but it’s a nice base for visiting Long Beach, and visiting the surrounding areas!
Wonderful room and view. Loved having a balcony and a great view of the Queen Mary. They made a mistake with our reservation but quickly solved it once we brought it to their attention. The cleaning service was really wonderful and accommodated our schedule really nicely. Very friendly staff. Our room service order was messed up one morning but they quickly sent up the correct items when we called them back. We did encounter some difficulty getting the front desk and the restaurant to answer our phone calls from the room and we usually had to call a few times before someone would answer. However, when they did answer, they were always polite and helpful, answering all of our questions and accommodating our needs perfectly.
Very good stay. All staff I met were excellent and very helpful. Just ask them and youll be happy! The room was fresh and well decorated, bed and pillows were really comfortable. Bathroom was functional and perfectly adequate with good lighting. If you plan to work at the desk in the bedroom, you may need to request additional lighting. I dont have a problem with noise interfering with my sleep, but they do provide free earplugs for those who need them! Your cellphone with a white noise App may be a better solution!Overall, I would return next time in the area.
Nice place to stay, I really liked the lighting. Nice bed with just the right amount of mirrors. Two issues though, the bathroom has a sliding door that is shared with the closet, so neither could be closed at the same time it was weird. Plus the door is etched glass and doesnt close all the way for the bathroom. I had guests over and going to the bathroom felt awkward. Second issue is they charge 28 dollars for parking so add that to the cost if you have a car. Park in Valet parking too, its closed cause of covid-19 so its an easier walk.
Nice hotel but due to Covid it is not as enjoyable as in the past. Staff was very helpful in all areas. The food that was available in the restaurant was fair at best. I think this was another factor of Covid on the facility. Overall I will continue to use this hotel whenever I am in the area.
My last 2 stays (10 days) were very disappointing. No hot water for a shower (NONE), room phone will not ring front desk, housekeeping will not answer phone, shower curtain fell on me two days in a row. Very disappointing property, from a client who has over 1000 nights at a Marriott property. Good Luck. (BTW - the staff is very nice)
This hotel was great. Nice, clean rooms, great staff, and valet service was speedy! The restaurant downstairs offered unique food and drink choices that were fun. The hotel is located downtown in the Art District, so lots of culture and neat things to experience. The beach is only a few blocks away, which makes for a nice walk or ride on a scooter! The only drawback for me is that there is no spa/jacuzzi. After a long day of walking and playing at the beach, it would have been nice to sit in the spa and relax. If that is not a deal breaker for you, then this hotel is perfect!
I have stayed here in the past and everything was good but this past week I stayed here at the Courtyard In downtown Long Beach and there was no Towels to dry myself and I asked front desk if I can have at least one so I can shower and they didn’t have any ! I also was told that there’s someone new in charge of the house keeping department and I’m not pleased ! Whoever is the manager of housekeeping needs to get fired ! He or she doesn’t know how to do it’s job ! Bring back whoever was running the housekeeping department! Don’t stay at this courtyard it’s new person in charged of housekeeping department is new and it’s not good at it’s job !
Every team member we encountered was very helpful and kind. The pool area was being worked on but was still kept clean and useful so we were able to enjoy the pool. The proximity to the grocery store and restaurants made this hotel ideal and the Netflix compatible TVs were very useful. Even though the hotel seemed full, as I know there were multiple events happening at the convention center, everything was kept clean and well maintained and the staff seemed to have a handle on everything.Would definitely stay here again!
Upon making my reservation, staff went out of their way to give me the best possible price, over and above what I expected. They were very, very helpful in figuring out how close the hotel was to the conference I would be attending, and answering all my questions. Upon arrival, lobby was homey with modern decor, with fresh lemon and mint waters available. Front desk staff were very welcoming, rooms were very clean and nice. Every time we needed anything the staff was so helpful! I also loved the location and how close the hotel was to shopping and restaurants. Our stay was very pleasant, and I would definitely stay there again. I was very pleasantly surprised, especially for what a great value it was!
Stayed at this location for two nights and had a small issue on my second night, but general manager Silvano Merlo went out of his way to make sure I was a satisfied customer. Exceeded my expectations in every way. Room was clean and hotel has taken every COVID precaution. Desk clerks Azu and Melina were also very helpful. I will be flying into Long Beach on a regular basis and plan on staying here on every trip. I can highly recommend this hotel and staff.
Gloria (housekeeper) made us feel super welcomed. Every day of our three night stay, we passed her in the hallway and she would ask, “Do you want me to stop by your room and when?”She made us feel very cared for. And once, she came in the room to deliver fresh sheets and picked up our things as she walked in! Cleaning as she went! I didn’t expect that at all. Above and beyond. I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels but have never had this personal experience of someone making our stay this comfortable.Additionally, the front desk and valet staff are pretty awesome. And the art in our room and in the halls are really cool—old school Long Beach. VERY cool to feel connected to travelers of the past! Also, it’s centrally located! We didn’t do any research and just wandered our way around the area. Booked the hotel and wandered. We discovered Alamitos Beach, the Shorline Village, Crab Shack, Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles, Pine Street, a taco truck, places to shoot pool, the convention center foundations at night, Vons grocery story was a block away and amazing for snacks, alcohol, and some main meals. We had a solid mix of restaurants and chill mode food.
The lobby area is phenomenal; upgrade is beautiful and flows very nicely. The front desk was pleasant and informative, however when I went down stairs to purchase a few items/toiletries, all I had was a $100 bill and the lady just stared blankly at me and asked is that all you have?...that took me back a bit, and then proceeded to kind of complain to me in a somewhat jokingly tone that I was taking all of her cash. The room smelled old and musty, carpet was a bit worn in several areas. The bed was comfortable, however the Flat screen TV was something to be desired...no HD channels was extremely disappointing. Free wifi; couldnt get on to any apps, send emails, upload anything while on it, we had to disconnect and then everything worked. The bathroom was a bit dated, except for the granite counter top. The smokey yellow/beige color was unattractive and old feeling. Another odd thing was we had a room with a pool view, 3rd floor and a nice shared patio, but no door, only a large window to open...again, odd. For the price I was charged for one night, I expected a little more/better than that, especially after seeing the amazing lobby area. Also, the front desk never mentioned we needed reservations for James Republic, and when we arrived to eat dinner and she said we needed reservations it threw us a bit. We said we were guests of the hotel and they were very accommodating and the service was beyond phenomenal. They were kind, helpful, even took off 2 drinks that we ordered without us asking them to do so, because they were far too spicy for us to finish. The location of the hotel was great, walked to the Convention Center to get our packets for the race (Long Beach Marathon/Bike Tour) had lots of little local shops and eateries that were really good. All in all it was a decent stay, and would stay again because I have always enjoyed the Marriott hotels.
Good hotel. Nice rooms recently renovated. Location is great especially if youre good with e scooters. And, the restaurants nearby are some of the best in Long Beach. Only down side is the heated pool and spa tub. No tub and the water may not be warmed, but whos counting when its 70 in February. 🙂
The lobby of this Courtyard was nicely decorated, especially since it was New Years Eve when we checked it. Very vibrant. The staff was so busy with check-ins but were very friendly. Our reserved room was not ready when we checked in, even tho it was quite late in the day when we arrived. They moved us to a bit of a larger room, although it did not have the view we reserved. The room was very modern in its decor. The bed was COMFORTABLE! The bathroom was a bit small, but it was fine. Overall, I would stay here again.
The room was clean, the staff at the front desk as was welcoming and awesome. Especially helpful with what Im sure are annoying, old questions like, how do I get to the beach? They gave quick, easy answers without sounding like theyve been asked a million times. The food in the restaurant was great, especially their hamburger. Coming from Wisconsin where there are more than enough burgers and quality burgers, the burger at the James Republic was one of the best my wife and I have ever had. Also great drinks. Only complaint maybe would be the bartenders sometimes seemed like theyd rather be somewhere else and didnt feel as welcoming.Overall, nice hotel, would consider staying here again.
The staff are very warm and welcoming. The rooms are updated and the beds really comfortable. Because my roommate had a broken foot, the desk staff gave us a room by the elevator, without being asked to. That turned out to be really helpful. The parking is pricey. We chose valet so we paid a bit more than is we had parked it ourselves. It was worth doing, however, because they are super quick and my roommate didnt have to do any unnecessary walking. The restaurants are good but pricey. If you are a family traveling, the prices should be considered. We had people in our group who could not afford to eat in the restaurants on site.
Overall a nice stay. The front desk staff and valet/bellboy were great. Housekeeping staff could do with some better service/attitude. A room with four only had two coffees/cups. Requested additional in the morning and it took two calls to the front desk and over 30 minutes. When it finally arrived housekeeping only brought one coffee. Parking is not bad for the area. $25 for self park or $29 for valet.
I had to stay for a work event and was nothing short of completely satisfied with my stay! The facilities were great and the staff was professional. There was an issue with the plumbing in my room and the staff took care of the issue in a professional manner. I would definitely return. Thank you to George the young man who helped us with our bathroom sink on 11.1.18
I would of given a 3 star but after the rude, and disappointing conversation with the morning manager, it is now a 1 star.I recommend staying at Westin Hotel with my family, we had stayed there a few weeks ago and it was great. This time around we decided on Courtyard Marriott, we liked what they had to offer and price based on what we saw online. We spent 3nights and 4days here, it was alright, by day 2 we regretted booking here but checking out and going somewhere else was too much of a hassel since we had our 2 kids with us. The night before checking out we asked the night manager about checking out late, she said we can but we would need to call in the morning to let morning manager know. Well, I based my day off with my kids by what the night manager said, this morning while we were heading out for breakfast I asked about having a late check out. I was quickly denied it because of short staffing, and need to check out at 2pm, but when I repeated the time back to her she said no, 12pm, which was really frustrating because both managers werent on the same page and didnt even give the correct time, although, it is totally understandable of short staff, but also understand this...I based my day off with my kids of getting up and getting breakfast and such, now I had less tham 2 hours to do this. LESS THAN 2HOURS to get a 4year old and 1year old, fed, changed and packed to get out the door. They dont offer complimentary breakfast so also adding in the time to leave to get food, is also added in. I could of just packed everything and gotten us ready for the day and then head out to leave, though remember I have 2 kids with me who are hungry NOW. I based my time off of what they told me and such, I dont wish to stay somewhere I cant rely on the staff and what they inform me about our stay, especially with having 2 kids. Westin hotel we will be staying with you from here on.Courtyard Marriott doesnt reassure if the rooms have been clean or sanitized, housekeeping doesnt come at all, I had to take all of our trash from our room, TWICE. And having kids, it was a lot so the importance with that seemed belittled, since we did stay 3nights and 4days, and no complimentary breakfast, not even to go for us to eat it in our room at least. The hallway smelled like Marijuana all 4 days when smoking wasnt allowed and I gotten 2 spider bites, I didnt get them when I was out nor did we leave the sliding door open in our room. I got them over night, as well as both my kids got a spider bite. It was a really frustrating weekend when we spent time in our hotel.
Absolutely wonderful service! I was traveling with my 92 year old grandmother to attend a family wedding. The front desk staff were so accommodating! We had full use of the hotel wheelchair both in the hotel & out on excursions! Food at the restaurant was excellent & staff were all great! Loved the staff built gingerbread village in the lobby! Thank you Marriott staff for making our short trip so comfortable!
Parking is a headache. we paid $25 for self parking which seemed a little too high. We also had a bad experience at the time of check in, the reception tried telling us that the room we book was not available anymore and downgrade it. I showed my specific booking and he changed his story saying he meant to give us what we booked and that they didnt have any other room besides what we booked anyways! wait... what?! the manager (Bisharat) was super sweet and took care of the problems right away. They changed our room due to a stain on the couch. view wasnt as great but cleanliness got better.
Front desk, vale and security were very helpful. The location is fantastic, yet the curtain rod falling down in the rooms bathroom, and not being attended to after we reported it to the front desk was a little disappointing. Other wise the the room was great, and we enjoyed out stay. By the way, I re-installed the shower curtain rod as best I could, and it remained up for the duration for our stay. Thank you.
I enjoyed this trip so much, actually didnt want to leave. Everything was perfect, from the parking, housekeeping to front desk. The views were out of this world. I loved the parking deck and how safe I felt. My meals were so good and I loved the closeness of the beach, the shopping and food...oh my it all was so great...one of the best. We lost our 18 yrs old daughter on Thanksgiving morning so we were in need of the break once again, I must say this...this was one of the greatest places to stay that I have EVER HAD!!
The hotel was very clean and tidy. Staff was helpful and always ready to help or answer a question. The restaurant is a must for brunch. The doors were open and it was spacious and a wonderful brunch experience. There was live music and a full bar. The room was tidy, however a bit smaller than I had originally thought. The internet was probably the low point. If it was more reliable I would have given 5 stars. Bed was comfortable and the seating area was also comfortable. We had a great time.
The hotel lobby smelled great. It was refreshing to walk into a fresh lobby with fruit infused water. There was no coffee though. Check in was easy. There is garage parking available for $25:night which is somewhat expensive but understandable as dtlb hharsly has parking. It would have just been nice if it was included with the room. Rooms are clean, spacious and the king bed is really comfortable because of an extra mattress topper it seems. I loved the decor as it was simple and beach elegant. The walls were painted blue like a beach sky. It was nice to see than a plain wall. Water took awhile to get hot st first bit was fine after. There’s enough closet and storage space and a mini fridge as well. It’s close to nearby shops and restaurants and only a short Uber to the Catalina express where we went. During the middle of the night they do lock the lobby and only all key members in which is great for security as downtown can also be borderline sketchy in some areas. This area felt safe but it was nice for the extra precautions. Checkout was a breeze. Would definitely stay here again.
The hotel itself is nice and the staff very friendly but our room was really loud. We were woken up out of our sleep to the sound of water draining from the occupants above us taking a shower. It was so loud that closing the bathroom door barely muffled the sound of draining water from the room above us. We could also hear them walking around. Also there was a coffee maker in the room but no bottled water to make coffee with.
We had such an amazing experience! This hotel is beautiful and its in a great location, we could walk wherever we needed to be. The rooms were super clean and the hotel was definitely kept up. We were there for Memorial Day weekend so it was pretty busy but that did not take away from our customer service. Great staff all around!
I came for a conference and had relatively low expectations that were blown out of the water! The property is beautifully decorated. The front desk staff was extremely helpful and very fast. The room was comfortable and clean. My room was near the elevator and the ice machine yet I didnt hear any outside noise in my room. I was thrilled with the little balcony. I will certainly stay here again and recommend it to others.
It was one of the worst hotel stays in my life. I stayed at Courtyard Long Beach Downtown for one night with my sister. We were given a double bed room on 6th floor facing the pool area. At first, we were pretty happy that the room was recently renovated, clean and pretty spacious. However, we didnt know what was coming after. We noticed a noise coming from the next room but thought it was just a temporary thing or maybe just a house keeping. As we were tired traveling and driving, we decided to take nap but the noise didnt stop. I fell asleep for a while but woke up from a very loud noise and was shocked to see somebody was on our balcony. Apparently, he was working on the hotel exterior renovation but I didnt know about it because I was never informed at the check in counter that there would be someone working on the exterior of the hotel nor that they would be doing it on the balcony of my room! We had a sheer curtain on our room but we werent wearing much since it was super hot and were just so shockingly surprised to see some guy on our balcony!!! I was very disappointed by the hotel staff that no one notified me about the renovation going on on the hotel, and although when I asked the hotel front staff about this later, they just repeatedly told me it was written on the website. OK, the hotel website note says Minimal disruption to guests is expected... but this was definitely not minimal disruption. Instead of just painting the exterior, they were scraping the whole exterior which made an extremely loud noise and the debris and dust from this work were falling like snow on the pool side of the hotel so much that the pool had to be closed. Plus, I thought they were probably done after a day but this continued the next morning until we checked out. From the early morning, they were still working on my balcony which made us extremely uncomfortable. I just never understood why we were given the room where they were scheduled to do the exterior renovation at that day. The hotel didnt seem like fully booked at all and there were plenty of other rooms that are not being impacted by the exterior renovation. I strongly think the check-in staff should notify people for sure that there would be some exterior renovation going on at this hotel when they check in and additionally, the staff should avoid to assign customers to the rooms directly affected by this renovation. This noise is just unbearable and I dont want to see someone intruding the balcony.
I had a great experience here due to the staff. Steven at the front desk checked me in and upgraded my room, recommended a place to eat and helped me with missing toiletries due to an unexpected overnight stay. At the bar the three bar tenders were great at recommending food and drink choices. The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring downtown and reaching my work site at the refinery with no effort. I think the cost of my one night was a bit high but that was due to most of the area being sold out.
My wife and I have stayed at this property many times over the years and always had an enjoyable experience We have stayed in room 727 before. I was told this room is an upgrade and the “best” available. The room seems designed to force guests to spend the least amount of awake time possible there. We moved to another Marriott property after one night for the remainder of our stay. I would be glad to go into details, however I expect management already understands the issues.
We stayed one night in preparation for a weekend cruise. The hotel is frequented by business travelers and those awaiting cruise excursions.I found the hotel to be convenient to all that downtown Long Beach and the pier has to offer. The hotel does not offer room service, so plan accordingly if that is important to you. There are great eating establishments nearby. The hotel staff was pleasant and very helpful during our stay.
Walked into chic renovated lobby that smelled very nice. Three people were standing at the front desk and I scanned all three to see who would assist me. Two employees smiled, but literally stepped back and quietly talked to each other. The third employee smiled and welcomed me. Since I checked in online, she just had to verify my cc, ID and hand over my room key, and up to my room with a view I went. Hmmm...view of the budget hotels and Vons, but, if I looked really hard, I could see the ocean. The room was spacious and clean and the decor was cute; I loved the headboard. The one negative is the old Air Conditioner unit looks out of place and was slightly noisy. But, the AC worked well, as I had to ask for a couple of blankets. Also, Ive been to several Marriotts and was able to binge watch Netflix during a staycation, but not at this location. While everything was satisfactory, and I love to do staycations, there was nothing that would make choose this location again, especially since it was priced the same as the Renaissance, which is blocks away. EXCEPT...the James Republic restaurant, which serves a contemporary So Cal menu and hand-crafted cocktails. I loved, loved, loved the DIY cheeseboard, and the entrees my family selected were given high praise. And, no one had to force us to eat our brussel sprouts!! This isnt your ordinary hotel eatery! The hotel is in a working class location near bars, restaurants, and public transportation, if you dont want to walk to the beach.
Everyone I encountered at this hotel was smiling, friendly and ready to assist wherever needed. The hotel itself is beautiful, great location and very clean. This Courtyard is unique in that they do not have the standard bistro set up but a full restaurant with great food/drinks (awesome happy hour!). I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great nights sleep, clean room, extra amenities and excellent customer service!
Garrett was amazing and helped us through a misunderstanding and mistake we made but he did his best to help us out and our family is uber appreciative for his above and beyond customer service. He also sent us to a couple restaurants that were amazing! Thank you for the beautiful hotel and stunning rooms and of course thank you for your service!
The Courtyard Long Beach Downtown was a very nice hotel. I was there for an event at the convention center nearby and the location was perfect. It’s about a ten minute walk to the convention center and about the same to the beach. It is also very close to the Queen Mary, which you should definitely visit. The service was also great. The employees at the front desk were very helpful. They gave us a map and showed us how to get to different locations. The cleaning staff was also great. The pool is very nice and you should definitely check out the hot tub. The only downside of this hotel was the lack of an included breakfast. The restaurant attached to the hotel was very good for both dinner and lunch.
The staff at this hotel are amazing. We had a smaller RV and they were able to park us with no issues. The manager - Tammy - is amazing. She’s very upbeat and helpful. She was able to get us discounted aquarium tickets. The food in the hotel is great and there’s a nice happy hour menu.
Location was great! We walked to dinner and then down to the harbor. Room was very clean and comfortable. Bathroom smelled a little off at times but it wasnt too bad. Nice lobby, and friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again. Downtown Long Beach was a new discovery for this native Californian!
Everything about the room was great and staff was amazing. Only issues we had was loud construction that started about 5pm and ended about 11:30 pm or so and on Saturday night there was a sweet 16 and all the teenagers were roaming the halls on just about every floor and making out by the pool area and ice machine rooms.. it’s supposed to be a family hotel I thought.
The staff from the front desk to the room and lobby make us feel welcome and comfortable. They went out of their way to ensure we were happy and that all our needs were attended to. The room was ready for us when we arrived and it was clean and very comfortable. The location is easy walking distance to many affordable restaurants and all the attraction located around the Pike.We stayed for three nights and will definitely return in the near future.
The hotel lobby gives you the impression this was an upscale hotel. Once in our rooms for the night, I could here foot traffic down the hall, my neighbors coughing and not to mention the parents who didn’t control the jumping and running around in the room above us for 30 min at 0600 hours. The rooms felt like they were separated by partition walls. Not a restful option in my option. I will never stay here again.
We arrived late due to flight delays so it was a short stay! Staff at front desk were very nice and helpful. Arranged our transportation for the next day, etc.. Rooms were nice, clean and quiet. Bed very comfortable. We have found Courtyards to be consistently very good to excellent. This was no exception.
Dont walk, run to this great hotel. My experience from beginning to end was second to none. Every detail was taken into consideration. The hotel is bustling, yet very quiet. My room was so neat & clean and smelled wonderful. The front desk staff was friendly, knowledgeable and at your service, one hundred per cent. They even have a complimentary cocktail party on Wednesday evenings for the guests. Fabulous! Take my word for it. I was not disappointed and you wont be either.
I give overall stay a 5/10. Location is really nice and safe but felt a little jipped in everything else. I expected a nicer tub, thicker walls for privacy and when I requested a crib, there was nothing brought. They said they upgraded us for inconvenience of no clean king rooms but it didn’t seem like much of an upgrade.
I expect a nicer room when staying at a courtyard. The room had been recently updated but the bedding was the worst I have ever experienced. Paper thin comforter and some sort of foam head board. We always book with Marriott because the rooms are always clean and nice. Hopefully this was an outlier.
Nice property with good location. Eric, the front desk clerk was very helpful giving directions and recommending some great local eateries and bars. Thai District rocks! The room could have been cleaner ( lots of hair in the tub and on the bathroom floor ). I would definitely recommend this hotel!
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone business or personal. The lobby is beautiful. The room was actually nicer than I expected. Oh and the bed is the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever slept in. The Netflix option on the tv added the cherry on top. I can’t forget the view of Queen Mary. I wish the balcony was bigger so I could have sat outside and sipped coffee and enjoy the outdoors but overall it was spacious enough for me and my boyfriend to stand comfortably. The front desk employee could have explained where things were and what time checkout was but thanks to the Marriott app I figured it out. Overall this will be my go to hotel anytime I visit Long Beach.
Lovely lobby area where you are welcome to work, eat, play, chess... Very welcoming. Nice staff, modern rooms with everything you need. You can skip the housekeeping by putting out a sign in the evening, which saves the environment and you are rewarded with bonvoy points. I would go there again.
The hotel itself was pretty nice although it was disappointing that they didnt have a Starbucks (or any coffee shop in the facility). The room was OK, not fantastic, there were some places on the walls and trim that werent painted or patched well. It was a little disappointing too that we didnt get all of our towels replaced after the first night, just 2 new ones instead of the 4 that were originally in the room. The biggest disappointment however was how incredibly loud the traffic in the hallway was, even in the middle of the night. They had left ear plugs in the room for us (I always bring a pair with me). I guess they knew how loud the room was. I could hear people talking loudly every night we were there. Not sure if it was inconsiderate people or horrible acoustics, but this was the loudest hotel Ive stayed at in several years.
If the hallway door noise was fixed and the electrical outlets were addressed and in working order then the room would be fine. Until those items are addressed, I would not recommend. The staff was good and the hotel itself was located in a nice area. The staff was very professional and nice.
Oh, my, was this experience terrible.First, when I booked I knew there was construction so I called and they said theyd put us on an upper floor, that was finished, and construction was now confined to the lower floors. So, we got an upper floor, and was rewarded with an upgraded room. The room itself was ridiculously bad. It was right across from a VERY noisy service elevator that was full of construction dust, and used throughout the night a few times. Also, regularly starting early in the morning. The noise was terrible when it started up, the engine and cable Whiningl loudly, but the noise continued while it ran, albeit at a subdued level.Ok, that was one.Second, the heater on the wall, just ran continuously, never shutting off no matter what the temperature setting was. It was very loud, and when we manually turned it off, we then just froze (it was cool weather in Long Beach at the time).Third, the wall sensor for the lights didnt work, well it did work, all the time, so whenever someone got up in the middle of the night the lights would go ON. How annoying.Fourth, as it was Christmas morning, the restaurant was closed. Normally, I would expect coffee (maybe even rolls or something) to be in the lobby as a sortof recognition that clients want something. There was nothing, not even water. And, as we had no coffee in our room I had to go searching for it.Housekeeping can also be vastly improved - there was no hand lotion and no coffee in the room.Other than those very negative things, the bed was comfortable, the view was ok.I am also bothered that when I mentioned the poor nights sleep we had, and all the problems, the front desk offered very little sympathy. I would have definitely thought some sort of COMPENSATION was, and still is, warranted!!!!! This is standard for hotels in this category (in almost all categories actually).
Great location, close to beach and restaurants. Room was OK, it was clean and furniture in good shape but bed was uncomfortable. The bathroom has a strange odor. The free coffee in the morning is not bad. The valet service is very slow. Not sure if I would stay again. I would probably look for an alternative hotel.
I recently stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Long Beach and enjoyed it thoroughly. Long Beach is centrally located for my business travel so this was a determining factor for choosing this property. The other thing I really liked was the location as I was able to walk to dinner every night and not hassle with driving and parking. Long Beach has all dining experiences pretty well covered with steakhouses, mexican, thai seafood etc all just steps away. The Staff was excellent and attentive, and exceeded our needs when we worked on evening in the lobby! Great Property!
The Courtyard Long Beach was an excellent place to stay for us. The front desk staff were very polite, helpful andgreeted us every time with a hello and how can I help you, a big plus! The parking attendants were very polite andhelpful with our parking needs and luggage! The room was very clean and kept up. The beds, a/c, TV, and bathroomall were very comfortable and working properly. A big must in my family! The hotel location is perfect as it is veryclose to the Long Beach harbor, many great restaurants, and sight seeing ventures and close to the freeways.
We were in town for a convention and I am pleased to say that every person we interacted with at the hotel was genuinely warm, friendly, and caring about our stay. Our door lock malfunctioned and needed to be replaced and it was done within the hour and someone even followed up to be sure everything was OK. Additionally, I left behind my ipad and they immediately located it and called me right back to let me know they had it secured until I could get back to retrieve it. I have NEVER had such great service at a hotel. I will be back and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. The property is clean, lovely, and comfortable- of course. But the PEOPLE make the difference here!
This is in a good location and the hotel certainly met our expectations. What an attractive lobby! I think if the carpet in the hallways was replaced as well as the walls painted, the hotel would stand out. It isn’t as appealing as the rest of the hotel. We enjoyed our 1 night stay before going to Catalina sailing.
Love their continental breakfast dining area. They had a waffle iron and it was so easy to make delicious waffles. Theres an elderly woman that lives there whose place in the dining area is toward the front by the TV shes very nice treat her well when you go. The workers who clean the rooms are extremely nice!
Reception was professional, kind and friendly!4th floor house-keeping was not needed much since we followed your ECO friendly suggestions, but she was there when we needed her (Maria?) and very quiet! We did not need Valet parking, but they were helpful to us in guiding us to where we needed to be!
Walking into the hotel, it has a nice clean look. Neat spot for the hotel restaurant. The fitness area seems to be pretty small. Our room was mostly clean when we got there - though one of the sheets had a few colored spots on it. Front desk service has been good even if it hasnt been the quickest.
Horrible experience. We booked our rooms for the day before our cruise 4 months in advance. We arrived at the hotel for them to say they gave our rooms to one of the race teams that was in town. They sent us to another part of town that had to restaurants or stores so we had to pay a taxi to take my party of 8 to take us to get something to eat. If this wasnt bad enough we had booked our rooms coming back from the cruise. We checked in and stayed the night to wake up the next morning and found bed bugs in our rooms. The management team at this hotel was horrible. Not once did we feel like they cared. I will never stay at this hotel again.
The rooms are beautiful and the staff courteous and friendly from check-in to check out. The only downsides were that the balconies were very small and the internet was unreliable. My overall experience, however was excellent and I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends and colleagues.
Nice place, friendly staff. When I arrived the hotel, its overbooked. The staff provided a very reasonable alternative solution -- I was arranged to Marriott Long Beach airport for the first 2 days. The hotel paid all cost including transportation between the Marriott and downtown. I also quite happy for the other days in this hotel. Highly recommend.
My stay was great. The staff was friendly and the room was amazing. The only thing that I did not like was that I had led my room early hoping it would get cleaned and when I returned around 4 it was not. I asked one of the cleaning ladies and she said it was not her room but she world get someone on it. About 30 minutes later they came to clean our room. Overall a great stay
Enjoyed our stay, until the very end when we heard drilling and pounding in the morning. Would of definitely liked a heads up. My family and I stay at this location at least once a year and we love this hotel. But, would of appreciated a warning for the construction during the end of our stay.
Loved this hotel. Very clean, extremely spacious and high quality furniture inside the room. I was extremely comfortable and had no complaints. Its a bit of a walk to the conference center bit its a ncie break from being stuck inside the hotel or a classroom all week long.
The hotel itself wasnt bad and it wasnt great either. Thus the average rating. The lobby of the hotel is very nice and makes you think the rest of the hotel will look this way. That is not the case. The room and the other areas of the hotel are just average and not as luxurious. The gym area was very humid the entire time as if there was no a/c attached to it. At the restaurant I got a burger and fries. Dont get me wrong because they were really good, but pretty pricey considering what it was. Also, the restaurant didnt carry domestic beer, just craft. For a hotel, I would assume the restaurant would carry a bigger variety considering people coming in from all over.
I was checked in swiftly. The staff addressed most of my concerns. The hotel was conveniently located near the waterfront. The hotel was easily visible from a distance as a result of the Marriott sign located on the top of the building. This made it for me to easily find the hotel. The room was fairly clean with up to date decor. There was an ice machine on my floor which was appreciate. My room had a view of the surrounding area of the hotel which was nice. It was quiet near my room during my stay. Overall I was satisfied and would recommend the hotel.
Lovely accommodations, great staff, but heard every sound in nearby areas. When we entered our room we heard pool noise downstairs (2nd floor room) which went on for hours. Upstairs we heard neighbors having sex. In the halls the doors slam loud enough to keep us up all night (and talking is clearly audible as guests and staff pass). The hotel provides earplugs as they clearly anticipate this is an issue. Earplugs are useless when slamming doors shake your room. A drill started upstairs around 9 am, shaking our ceiling and the hallway. Thats when we moved to a different hotel. Wouldnt return or recommend for light sleepers. Also, there is no menu for the downstairs restaurant (in room paperwork said to check the tv but the suggested channel didnt have a menu). No in room service, you have to go pick it up, whether you order from the restaurant on site or a nearby business (they hold it at the desk for you and call you to come down, which sort of defeats part of the purpose of delivery, when so many restaurants nearby are in walking distance anyway).
The reservation process was handled by our travel agent but we had some detailed questions that were handled really well by the staff. And the staff was incredibly welcoming and enthusiastic about our stay both on the phone and at the front desk. The entire staff was helpful and very responsive to any needs we had. We would definitely stay there again. Get a room with a view of the Queen Mary. It was awesome!
A pleasant surprise. Rooms need updating but mine was clean, comfortable, had good lighting, and was quiet. Everything worked including the free wireless. I enjoyed the restaurant James Republic, so convenient to have a good meal without driving after a long work day. The staff were exceptionally friendly. I will stay here again.

2022-03-31We travel a good bit but this hotel stood out past others. The level of professionalism was outstanding. Service oriented, great for a vacationing family or here on business. Thank you for a very enjoyable, relaxing, without stress stay.

2022-06-08Beautiful hotel and a friendly and helpful staff. After a terrible experience at another local hotel we were in search of someplace to stay and landed here. Highly recommend. Also, the Bistro Bar thats attached/next door is top notch.

2022-05-12The interaction my wife had with those working the night of May 8th was not the best and I left a review that was not 5 stars. The manager of this location read the review and noticed that more could have been done and he made it right. I appreciated him understanding that mistakes can be made when your flight is canceled, rooms are booking up fast, and that when there is a communication break down mistakes can be made. It is a rare thing to actually have help in making things right. I hope I get back to Long Beach someday so that I can personally thank him myself.

2022-03-05A double yum (yum yum) score for the breakfast, and a Triple Yum (yumyumyum) for the service. I didnt stay at the LB Marriot, but was able to drop by for breakfast. Ive always appreciated the Marriot buffet with custom omlettes, and this place was no exception. However, the service was amazing and very much appreciated in todays age

2021-10-09We checked-in in the late evening (1:00 am-ish) and were greeted with outstanding customer service. As Marriott Bonvoy members, we were upgraded to a room with a view of the port which was a very pleasant surprise. The room was large with plenty of space for both remote work and relaxation. The refrigerator wasnt cold enough so we had to toss some leftovers but we made do. Parking is expensive but I do understand that is the going rate, otherwise it was very convenient to have a gated garage. Great area and dog friendly, our favorite hotel in Long Beach. Thank you for a great stay!

2021-12-28Check in was fine, until we got to our room and had a double bed when we booked a king. I understand that room types sell out, but don’t be deceitful. Let people know when they’re not going to be getting the room type they originally booked. Also, PLEASE have your staff actually look at amentity requests. There is literally no point in having a Bonvoy app that allows you to chat with the front desk and easily submit amenity requests if no one is going to answer. I waited over an hour for toothpaste. My husband eventually had to go downstairs from the 5th floor to get some since we kept being put on hold with the front desk. Him getting to the desk and seeing literally NO ONE standing in line was frustrating. What was the reason for being put on hold not once but THREE times?

2021-09-08We had multiple bad experiences with the room. This was booked for a business trip, along with 4 additional rooms. There was extremely low water pressure even after calling service to address the issue. There was no sunlight in the room, since the outward facing window led to a wall.Room upgrade was not honored even though we had the card status and was willing to pay for it. Staff at front desk changed story twice on how to extend the room for an extra night. We ended up booking it directly online. Good: Attached restaurant was convenient, cleaning service was friendly

2021-07-10We had a nice stay. Our room was very clean we got a balcony view to the city which wasn’t bad. The AC service was automatic which turned on and off during the whole stay. I will say you have to pay for parking which was $28 A NIGHT.. ridiculous high prices. To get inside the lobby you have to cross the main entrance of cars staying at the hotel which I didn’t like.. we had our 3 year toddler who runs everywhere and that was just a no. We had to make sure we held his hand to cross the drive up to enter the hotel lobby. I really don’t recommend for anyone traveling with toddlers. We definitely won’t be returning anytime soon. Also calls made from the phone inside the room charged at ridiculous price. Pool is open and for anyone interested I did notice they have a machine for anyone with a disability to be able to go inside as well.. not sure if it was working but it was outside by the pool. Staff was friendly and lobby was very spacious and quiet.
