There isnt a bad seat in the house. We went to see Aladdin the Broadway on Sacramento performance and it was amazing! The sets, the acting, the musical numbers it was all fantastic! Weve been to a few stand up comedians at this venue and they were also great. Lower level is worth the extra price, but again, no bad seats and no complaints about sitting in upper tier
This place always hosts great Broadway shows. While the building could use a remodel, including refreshment kiosks, the core of this place is still great. Seating arrangements feel squished but its understandable to get the optimal amount of guests in the auditorium. This place will always hold a place in my heart as it will for any stage play goers first time.
I love going to events here. There is not a bad seat in the house. If you enjoy attending live events, I suggest you become a season ticket holder. You will not be disappointed. The quality of show is always very high. From comedy shows like Seinfeld, to Broadway musicals like cats, to bringing back Opera like Rigoletto. This is a wonderful asset to the community. Get your parking through parking Panda or sac parking because they usually save some parking spaces specifically for people attending the events at this theater. You can get parking within walking distance. Warning: for females using the bathroom, there will be a huge line at intermission and after the show. So either limit your drinks or make sure you use the restroom early.
Very nice venue. Well run, easy to find, get in and find seats. Seats were comfortable and had good view of stage, at least where we sat. Only downside was a lack of a center aisle, which meant people had to move by lots of people to get to their seats. On the plus side, pretty good legroom, so most people didnt have to stand up to let others pass.
We saw βWhoβs (Live) is it Anywayβ and really enjoyed ourselves. This theater is very well kept! Lobby is always clean and they have a variety of snacks and drinks to choose from. Parking can get a little frustrating, so I recommend Capitol Garage a couple blocks away. Loved dining at nearby Petraβs, too!
Took my toddler to watch Paw Patrol Live and the seating was perfect that even if your vertically challenged like my 3 year old you can sit behind someone thats 6 foot 4 and still see the stage with no problem. The only thing Id suggest is if you have asthma or breathing problems of any kind to bring an inhaler because if they are using smoke machines it builds up kinda thick. But other than that would love to visit again for another show like the up coming Nickelodeon party in October!
Lively theater with grand decorations and an elegant interior. The staff is helpful, friendly and approachable. The shows are impressive and breathtaking. The exterior, however, is quite plain and understated with sparse, afforable parking and a potent taste of the homelessness and inequity of Sacramento less than a block away. I loved the show, An American in Paris, but the transient American in Sacramento I gave my leftovers to on the way to the theater remains more vivid in my memory.
Nice place, but if you have a fear of heights or will be wearing heels, dont sit in the upper levels. The walk way between the seats in the upper areas are extremely narrow and there is nothing to brace yourself on. The seats on the lower levels are better for walking.
Fantastic place to enjoy a play or stage show. Not a bad seat in the house. Two level lobby with entrances on both sides. Two levels of balcony seating above the main floor. During intermission, you will definitely want to cross the exterior courtyard to take advantage of lots of additional restrooms on the first two floors of the neighboring conference facility that they open on theater nights for the large crowds who need facilities at very specific times. Drinks and light snacks are available from counters in the lobby.
Great shows, but the runs are limited. We have had season tickets for a number of years and cannot move up to better seats. That is disappointing. However the main reason we are not renewing is the traffic. We are coming from Sonoma County with a a two hour drive to the theater and a three hour drive home.
Despite having lived in the Sacramento area for most of my life and being a musical theater fan, I never knew about the Community Center and have always gone to San Francisco for productions. Know I know theres a quality theater in my backyard that means I dont have to go to SF if I dont want to!The theater is spacious and well designed with comfortable seating. I had third-tier balcony seats and was surprised by the amount of room available in the rows. The balcony seats at the Orpheum are cramped and uncomfortable, but here are easy to navigate and comfortable to sit in throughout the entire production. There didnt seem to be a bad seat in the place.
Its nice to have a facility like this in Sacramento, so I give it 5 stars. The theater is in good condition, but its not a great theater. Stage height a seating angle are such that you might be looking at the back of someones head. Acoustics are mediocre. Fortunately a renovation is planned for 2019.
Oh my goodness, I got tickets to se Cats for my daughters 24th birthday. So glad we did, of course it is a great venue, sitting on the second tier isnt bad at all. The staff was helpful and very friendly. The theater is big and easy to find. But, this was my daughters very favorite thing to watch when she was little (like 3) so getting to see this was friggin awesome! Im so glad Sacramento has Broadway on Tour. Such a great experience.
I have visited the Theater before and enjoy the staff and facility. I am only giving 3 stars because I am a nursing mom and the staff made zero effort to accommodate my request for a small room or janitorial closet so that I can express bm (since I would not dare bring my baby with me to a performance nearly 3 hours long). I guess I just expected more follow up/through.
Seats were very small. Unfortunately we left because people behind us were coughing on us and cigarette smoker to the left. I think if they go revamp it with a little more space it would be wonderful. Seats were expensive but thankful when we walked out at intermission....lol.
The play was wonderful. As are many at this theater. But the line at the womenβs restroom is ridiculous. Some women got out of line so as not to miss the second half of the play but it seems cruel to make some of those older ladies do that. No line whatsoever outside the menβs. Fix this please.
The experience was not as good as I had in the past 9 years.(season ticket holder) The show was great, however; it was tainted by a staff member who was overseeing the ticket scanners. While my wife and I was en-route to our seats in section (K) this person tracked me down and told me that outside food was not allowed in the theater. The smell was offensive to other patrons. It was a piece of carrot cake from Dawsons restaurant. We also noticed several other people bringing outside food in and not being stopped. I am offended by the smell of alcohol nevertheless I know that in a public setting alcohol consumption is allowed. So either stop everyone from bringing outside food in and stop the selling of alcohol beverages. Or just dont single out someone because you notice them. That way no individual is offended.
Yes, this location may be due for a bit of updating, but the only thing that has been somewhat bothersome for me is the number of restrooms. There is only one of each (M/F). To compound the problem further, the restrooms are next to the concession area. So, during the 20-minute intermission, long, crisscrossing lines form as everyone rushes to use the restroom and purchase refreshments.Other than that, we havent had a problem with the theater. Weve always been able to see and hear everything. Theres some great talent that goes through that stage.
If you have balcony seats for a play, be sure to bring binoculars if you want to see expressions on the actors faces. We had 4th row balcony seats for Phantom of the Opera several years ago, and I wish we had brought them. Acoustics were ok, so going to a concert would be fine for this venue. Otherwise, pass unless you get orchestra seats.
EXTREME PROFANITY throughout the Jersey Boys showing. My husband and I along with a couple of friends attended the Jersey Boys musical last night. While the songs were very good they were overshadowed by the extreme profanity in the dialogue of the play. I do believe I heard the βFβ word a minimum of 250 times during the musical. This is not what we choose to spend our money on. I am no prude, however, I Do Not choose to listen to such filth either. It will be a very long time if ever that we spend another dollar (or hundreds in this case) at The Sacramento Community Center Theater.
The problem is that I tried to buy tickets. And then at the exact moment the tickets opened, all of the Vip tickets I only wanted 1. Were sold out in literally 30 sec. I am assuming there a ticket scammers cause now these tickets are on sale for $1000 dollars instead of $113. After I realized they were sold out, I called costumer service right away. The line booted me off 15 times before I got to somebody talking, but it wasnt an actual person it was a recording that then directed me to a place that I was on hold for another 20 mins. Finally once I got onto the phone with a real person, the VIP were sold out and I decided that going to the tour just to sit and pay 60$ for a back row seat was not worth it. Very disappointed.

2019-03-29Love coming to this venue. Been coming here for years. The Nutcracker in seasonal times. The book of Mormon. Marry Poppins musical theater. And this week we saw Neil deGrasse Tyson give a talk on life in the universe. Always helpful and friendly staff and great events to attend.

2016-12-17The seats are wide and comfy, good views from all of them. Acoustics ok. It would be nice to have a middle aisle as the rows can be very long and trying to get out from the middle is not easy. Another ladies room would be helpful as well.

2018-06-22Iβve been here for a few shows and the police academy graduation. I like the layout and the seats are comfortable enough for the duration of a show. The traffic flow in and out isnβt too bad either, on par with other theaters.

2017-10-01Really enjoyed seeing Paw Patrol Live here with son and spouse. Venue has comfortable seating. Wish there were cup holder armrests. Also disappointed there was only 1 restroom near main entrance which caused us, me and 3 year old , to have to walk a distance and stand in a line. Our seats were Orchestra Row H seats 21-23. Great visibility of performance, would highly recommend these seats.

2022-02-06Small uncomfortable seats, to cramped. Stuffy and way to warm, made it hard to enjoy the show. Not impressed after the remodel.

2021-11-07I could not find stairs to the upper balcony, and theres only one elevator on each side. The sound technicians had music so loud in both musicals Ive attended that it was difficult to hear the words of the songs, as if the music was echoing in the upper balcony. Seats are comfortable. Everything else was fine.
