I love their sangria, though it is ice heavy, my favorite aguas frescas is the blackberry lime. The tofu tacos are excellent, to veganize it hold the crema, we always order the yucca fries, platanos maduros, black beans & rice and a side of chips & guac. My kid likes their veggie torta we hold the cheese. Fresh, flavorful food, fun & funky atmosphere with colorful touches and a charming back patio area. This place gets real busy but is worth the wait, they opened a togo spot next door, we get takeout often since the pandemic began.
The fish tacos! If you dont like fish tacos, get the fish tacos, seriously, try them. A fried piece of fish thats not flaky or tough but perfectly chewy covered in shaved cabbage with some kind of white dressing a thin slice of radish, and dont forget the orange habanero sauce they have there, that needs to go on the tacos in abundance.
Amazing place! You cant go wrong coming to this place. The food and the ambiance are superb!! Prices are also very reasonable!! Their aguas frescas (mango) are great and on this writer humbles personal view the cuban sandwich was THE BEST CHOICE!!! Youd be the judge... needless to say, will be returning soon ... hungry for more (words of Anton Ego)
I don’t understand why this place has any good reviews. The food was not good. The salsa might as well been water. The customer service is horrible. Seriously overpriced for the food. And the tiny water cups with the water next to all the dirty dishes? Not worth it I so regret the money and time spent here.
The chicharon el pollo plate was flavorful but other than that this was largely a miss with the sandwich and the fish plate. I was expecting a bit more Latin American spin on slicing up the fish but it was like any regular fish n chip fried flavorless. The aqua frescas were refreshing. Will definitely skip this place for other more flavorful Latin American fare.
Fourth time here, normally I order sandwiches, but this time decided to come here for my birthday and what a mistake! I Ordered almost everything on the menu. The tostones where old dry and the picadillo was also old and dry, the cheese was moldy. Instead of the tostones coming as an appetizer it came at the same time of the meal. The pescado frito was overlooked and fried to death, the fish did no seem or taste like fish. The salad, the lettuce was either rotten or wilted, the beans both pinto and black beans tasted like out of the can beans. The sweet potatoes were burnt and tasteless. The chicken was overdone and over worked. The pickled onions were also rotten. Everything was excessively salty. The servers were rude and one even dropped the tostones on the table and scooped it up and put on the plate. The cups smelled like bleach!!! IWill not return.
I got the fried fish filet with white rice, black beans and salad. For drinks, I decided to go with the strawberry agua fresca. Both were really good. Prices are fair. Food came out fast. I appreciated the outside eating areas and music playing in the background. Looking forward on coming back and trying more dishes.
I love sandwiches and the Asado Sandwich just confirmed that. My biggest regret was sharing, but I’m glad I ate a least half. It had Peruvian style roast beef with caramelized onions, arugula and jack cheese grilled between French bread. The roast beef was really tender and the flavors were delicious! I also go once fish taco which was pretty good – tender fish, crispy and not too battered, and also the agua fresca with all the flavors mixed together, which was really good as well.Overall, love the food and drinks here. Everything was delicious.
Horribly experienced beautiful Place horrible customer Service. Two Customers behind us ordered there food it came out before they sat down while we waited for our food for 20minutes. It was cold and they forgot one of dishes I felt race played a part I didn’t feel welcomed or equal
This place is fun with neat street corner decor. There are large tables for bigger groups and plenty of space to spread out. Masks are required, and you bus your own table. The food is amazing, so flavorful and creative while offering new takes on traditional Cuban cuisine.
Same good food as at the new alameda branch. I’ve only tried the tacos, which are tasty and flavorful. The agua frescos are very good, really flavorful, and they’ll mix them per your instructions. This location has great skylights and nice big tables. The patio is a bit cramped, and it has a full cover and is actually a bit darker than inside with the skylights, just less air conditioning and more fresh air. There’s music and it’s lively, but it’s quiet enough to converse. The colors inside are fun. I didn’t see a parking lot, but it wasn’t too hard to find street parking. The staff are friendly and helpful. There’s a cooler of a water with stacks of cups for the taking. Takeout is ready quickly, less than 10 minutes.
Fantastic ambiance - Itll take you back to your cool abuelas hacienda! Food is pretty good, not too spicy, but the house habanero salsa makes up for heat if your taste buds prefer that adventure. It makes for a Sunday brunch or perfect chillout spot with friends. Pretty cool vibe - take a chance on this place, es linda indeed!!
Chokita Linda does one of my favorite things with decor: pretending youre still outside when youre inside. In addition to being decorated well, the food and beverages were top notch. We sampled all 4 meat tacos and each one was different but delicious. Additionally the blackberry lime agua fresca went perfectly with the meal. I will say that the place is small so if you hit it at the wrong time you could be in for a wait and have trouble finding a seat.
Excellent food! I really wanted to go back for seconds! The only reason I took 1 star away was that it was pretty crowded, parking is a bear, the lines were crazy, and trying to get water or a to-go box was a challenge due to the set up. You order at the counter and food is brought to you, so there its a challenge if you need anything after youve ordered. Otherwise the staff was nice and the food was bomb. And the fried plantains... goodness, I wanted 8 of them.
Cholita Linda is like the first restaurant that pops up when you search for Mexican food in Oakland on Yelp. Its 4.5 stars rating from almost 1000 reviews is what got me to give it a try. It is located in North Oakland in an area where street parking is really difficult so plan to circle a couple of times. It is definitely popular as it had a line out of the door. The good news is that the line moves fast. The menu here is not like the mile long menu that you see at other Mexican places. It contains tacos, sandwiches, plates and desert.During my first visit I decided to get the Chicharron de Pollo ($12.65) which as per the description in the menu is crispy pieces of free range chicken thighs topped with salsa criolla served with rice & black beans, organic salad and sweet potatoes, to-go. After ordering I was given one of the fancy locator beacons that light up when your order is ready and guide the server to your location. As they were swamped it took about 20 minutes for the food and I was on my way.I got s small container with a greens based salad and another with the crispy fried chicken, rice, beans, sweet potato fries and salsa. I was expecting soggy limp chicken pieces but was pleasantly surprised to find them to be crispy. The rice, beans, salsa and sweet potato were also pretty good. Overall this dish seemed to live up to their high ratings.During my second visit I decided to get the Picadillo ($10.95) which as per the menu is seasoned Niman Ranch ground chuck w/ peppers, tomatoes, onions, Spanish olives and raisins w/ rice, black beans, plantains and organic salad, to-go. Again 20 minutes later I was on my way. This dish too exceeded my expectations. The service size looked small in comparison to the container but it turned out to be enough for a meal. The minced beef was seasoned perfectly. It had just the right amount of salt to keep it tasty making this another enjoyable meal.Price wise most of the plates are around the $12 mark which is very reasonable for a complete meal. Cholita Linda seems to check all the requirements of decent service, good food and reasonable prices, so Im going to join other reviewers and give them a generous 4.5 stars rating that has been rounded up to 5.
Good food but now only lets you order by placing order on ChowNow. App wouldn’t let me create an account. When I called they said they can’t take orders over the phone and told me there was “no line”. When I showed up 5 minutes later there was a huge line. I only had 90 minutes to go out tonight before my 19 month old’s bed time and I wasted 15 minutes of it fussing with trying to order here. Ended up just going elsewhere wasting yet another 15 min of precious time getting food there. Not planning to come back. What a stupid policy and staff who aren’t honest.
The tacos are delicious - my favorites are the Baja fish and the carnitas. Theyre affordable too by Bay Area standards! Also order the yuca fries - you wont be disappointed. Their plates come with a ton of food. I ordered the Chicarron de Pollo - crispy pieces of chicken thigh. So hearty and delicious!
This restaurant has the best fish tacos hands down. Actually all the tacos are delicious including entrees. I have had something from all over the menu and it never disappoints. Even the sangria and margaritas are good. Make sure that you order your food ahead of time because there are always lots of people. They have a great system in place what covid-19 to just pick up
I ordered the Baja fish tacos, and Cubano. I never had a Cubano before but I am going to make this my go to sandwich from now on. All Cubanos scratch that, all sandwiches will be compared to this one. Bread was flavorful and soft. The ham gratifying, The pulled pork with the Swiss cheese and mustard, mouthwatering. It was a damn good sandwich. Nice part of town also. Probably wouldve been better if Covid protocol wasnt in effect.
Absolutely amazing food! Mouth watering just thinking about it and a constant craving. We hadnt tried this restaurant until the pandemic set in and we were curious to try some new spots. Our favorites are the Lechon sandwich (delicious sweet potato and pulled pork!), fried plantains, yucca fries, carne asada or fish tacos with their super fresh cabbage, and the blackberry aqua fresca.Every delivery has been quick, well packaged and hot for our enjoyment.
Excellent Mexican Street food. Quick and very yummy. We got one of each kind of taco and all were tasty and a good value. We didnt know if they had additional sauces until we were nearly finished. Dont forget to grab some if you like more heat. And the fish is amazing.
I love the fish tacos, pork tacos, and the papito sandwich here. The agua frescas are very tasty as well. On the other hand, if you order chips and guac/salsa, the amount of salsa/guac you get is pitiful, not nearly enough for the quantity of chips, and they will not refill them.
This place was amazing! Great Decor, fabulous food. From everything we ordered the fish tacos with the best. Everything was fresh flavorful and authentically yummy! Very reasonably priced. Outdoor seating. Family style seating inside. Yes, Reminded me of street food in Mexico. Overall a great dining experience and now one of my favorite places in the area.
I just had about the best Mexican food of my life. The fish taco was to die for. I’m On my way back for another one! The chicharon plate alone was also amazing the sauce was incredible. Not a big fan of the beans or sweet potatoes though I have yet to try the salad. The food is a little pricey and portions are small. Besides that if I’m ever in town again I’ll definitely come back here!
Lordt Jesus is all I have to say! This food is hella good! The fish tacos and the salad are my favorite! I always order online and when I arrive there is never a wait. Prices are really good too. The customer is great expect they can be stingy with the orange sauce. I’m not sure what it is but it’s so good. My favorite drink is passion mango Fresca.
If you are looking for a place that has a huge menu, visit some other place. The place has a lovely ambiance and a quiet, cozy feel to it. I visited with a friend on my first day in California but I can very well imagine sitting there reading a book and sipping some of their yum cocktails. The food menu is short but well-curated and you can order pretty much anything and it wont be disappointing. Especially try their I-dont-remember-what-they-are-called lemony tasting snackers that go perfectly with drinks.
The food here never disappoints! The fish tacos are delicious, paired with a sangria, is absolutely divine! This is a great lunch outing with your best buddies to catch up or for your family wanting a nice, tasty, fast lunch or dinner! Ive never seen highchairs, so you may need to bring a booster seat for younger littles!
Ordered the papito tofu. I was so worried. “Why did I order tofu? I’m not vegetarian. When they say plantains, like are they really going to put plantains in this sandwich?” And then I took my first bite...Amazing. Best thing I’ve eaten in a long time. Highly recommend.
Okay and the food!! The fish tacos are so amazing! $3.50 a pop, but they are LOADED. The hot sauce they provide is so sweet and tangy I truly enjoyed it on my taco. Cholita Linda just has some really great fish tacos; thats definitely their specialty. There is a water station, utensils, and napkins laid out for you to grab. You clean up after yourself at the end.
So came here during COVID and did a To-Go order. The food was great, service was ehh...thats the only reason why I didnt give 4 stars. For food, we ended up getting Cubano Sandwhich, 3 Fish Tacos, 1 Carne Asada Taco, Platano Chips, & Platanos with 2 Aqua Fresca Drinks. This was all delicious, we definitely stuffed ourselves and it was worth it.As for the service, there was a bit of a line but no big deal. The problem was since it was my first time here I had some questions and it seemed like it was an inconvenience. Also when trying to order the Plantains & Platanos, the cashier didnt get it, I had to pull up pictures to show. So while it says that on the menu, she told me no one is Platanos Chips and one is Platanos....weird since the menu shows different. Either way, glad my order was to go because I just got my stuff and left
Consistent quality If you’re looking for Latin food that is more clean than authentic. Very straight forward and limited menu. I personally love the salad and I add the chicken which is my favorite go to here. The chicken has a little kick to it and smoky flavor which adds to the salad perfectly. Guacamole is thick and chunky which I prefer..however it is a little more on the oniony (I know this is not a word but that’s the best way I can describe it) side. ALWAYS put the pico de gallo on the side or it will wilt your salad something horrible. Always get the dressing on the side and ask for an extra one because it’s never enough! They won’t charge you extra. I don’t know why the dressings are so small for the portion of the salad 🧐 The prices are fair And the portions are decent. Now as far as their online ordering (if you are like me) and like to tailor your dish with a little less of this and a little more of that NOT HAPPENING..lol! Well let’s get to their pick up… They have two windows and depending on the day and time they’re either using one or both ..but you’ll never know until you see the aggressive app drivers cut you in line 😩 and then act like they didn’t see you there🙄. I am extremely Covid conscious and the good thing is they text you when your order is ready if you ordered online. I suggest you do order online so you can run in and run out of the chaos. They don’t have a lot of people to answer questions because they’re constantly busy getting orders and they don’t make eye contact so they don’t have to answer many questions.
Food was ok good. I tried two tacos a sandwich their fresh drinks and chips and guacamole.Their staff was super friendly and helpful.3.50 for a taco with cabbage is kinda a lot, the flavor was decent. I felt the same way about the sandwich, nothing great, it felt like it was missing something. The juices and guacamole were super tasty. Id get those again if I ever return.
Excellent food! Had the Asaso sandwich. Perfect flavors, portion was enormous (dont think I didnt eat it all) and the outdoor area in the back is ideal for most California days. They have a retractable cover for the patio which is a nice feature as well. I love this spot.
Very popular family owned restaurant. Pretty much everything is good here but I typically go with the fish taco and carnitas taco. Chips, salsa and guacamole are also excellent. Be prepare to wait in line but it moves fairly quickly. Order at the counter, then find a seat.
This place is good, especially if you want some Cuban inspired the dishes. The back patio is very pretty. I only wish the food had more heat, but it seems that only Jamaica out of all of the places in the Caribbean is the only culinary tradition to have really hot food. So I guess the lack of serious hot sauce is to be expected.
They finally got their act together and streamlined their food pickup.Old review:Used to love this place, but theyve so poorly executed food pickup during COVID-19 that its just not worth it. Expect to be waiting in extremely long lines while your foods sits and gets cold.
Its been awhile since Ive had a Cubano that was super delicious!!!Alright. this spot is near my work and Ive always tasted chips and guac from there.----------------------But this time, I went and got a Cubano, Fish taco , chips and plantains.Price is mildly higher, but the food is great.Take out because of COVID.Cubano - sooooo gooood!!!!plantains with yellow aoli sauce.....soooo gooood.chips and guac - sooo goooood.Fish taco (wife had) was also good! (wife isnt typically a taco person). She agrees the plantains were outstanding, even though she didnt use the sause (spicy). But I love it!!!
The food is amazing and Im from LA and every time I come over to Oakland I visit this restaurant,The fresh waters they have are amazing. I gotta say Mango is my favorite and for food the Pan Cubano yo be is one of the best but I tried other things on the menu and I still havent dad one that I did not like.
My husband & I ordered at the take-out kiosk, so didnt eat our sandwiches right away, but it didnt matter. Our sandwiches were Awesome! I had the Lechon sandwich and he had the Cubano. The slight zap of heat was spot on. The condiments also complemented the whole flavor. Great job! We will definitely be back next time we are in town!
Really high quality upper-scale Mexican food, almost more Spanish than Mexican actually. We both enjoyed our meal and sat in the nice back patio area. Ive heard the drinks are really good here as well but was not able to try it. I would definitely come back here and bring friends to show them how delicious the food is.
Simple, delicious and reasonably priced. We dropped in on a Saturday night after watching the basketball game and hardly waited in line and got our food in 5 minutes or less. This taco joint also has a cool setup inside and though we didnt sit in their outside patio it looked nice. Id go back.
This place is my favorite site. Of all restaurants I know I favor it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to that place. Whenever I feel like having a proper lunchon, this is the place that comes first to my mind. fresh and all kinds of food and a large menu.professional crew, and great vibes. Also, the pay is fair. I suggest this restaurant with no hesitation.
I first fell in love with Cholita Linda at the Temescal Farmers Market. The same great tacos from their food stands are also at their family friendly, fun and delicious restaurant. Busy but even given that, the service was not too slow. the food was flavorful and well done! The fish taco and carnitas taco were the perfect lunch combo. The pork sandwich seems to be the most popular dish alongside the chips.
Well Ive going to this place for years and they are my one of my favorite places on Telegraph. I have a shellfish allergy and love that they dont serve shellfish so it always feels safe for me personally, bt am a fan of the options, Ive gone with vegetarian friends and they have multiple tofu options and yeah they are busy sometimes but I believe they work hard to be one of the more efficient spots on the block. Definitely worth the wait and I believe the food speaks for its self :)
Its okay. Food is pretty good for the price. The sitting area is a bit cramped on the side and then you get a nice whiff of the garbage cans and foot traffic for plate disposal.I would order there again but maybe for pick up. Oh yes 5 stars for the manager I spoke to who helped me figure out things on the Caviar app.
We had family take us to this restaurant and we were not disappointed at all. Very busy but quick and efficient service so dont let the line ups deter you. Order at register and is brought to your table. Fresh and delicious. The guacamole is the best. I had the chicken tacos and guac and was in heaven. A great margarita finished off the meal. This must be my favorite restaurant in Oakland. The line is sometimes reallyyyy long, but then I just order on Postmates :)
Phenomenal tofu tacos! I was so happy to have stumbled across this place during my visit to Oakland. It had been so long since I had a taco of this caliber and my taste buds were incredibly pleased. The ambiance is lovely, the people are friendly, and the music is hoppin.
This was my first time here. My daughter thinks I am sooo American and need to taste other food from around the world. Well this restaurant was a pleasant and fabulous surprise! The ambience was refreshimg! I thought i was was out of the states and in a country like Cuba or South America. The food, decor and clientele were all so happy and laughter rang throughout the dining! I simply loved everything about my visit!!
The food here is very fresh and flavourful. They dont go overboard, trying to stuff Mexican staples with exotic ingredients. Love the Baja fish tacos and the ground round steak over rice. Easy to get food for kids at a reasonable price. Pollo or steak tacos without cabbage or crema or salsa. Rice and beans. Kid fed for $6-7. Prices here are very modest overall.
A smorgasbord of Latin food that keeps no real allegiance to any specific nations food, but does an overall great job at getting across the flavors. The Papito is one of my favorite East Bay sandwiches! I wish the menu was a little larger or that they came up with new menu items. I do think there’s a lot of hype and that the lines are really long.
Cholita Linda is a hip, casual spot that draws a diverse crowd for Latin staples. I came here for dinner on a Thursday evening. You order from the counter and they bring the food out to your table. Line was only a few people deep when my friend and I arrived, but was out the door by around 7:30. We both ordered the Pescado Frito. Having grown up in a Caribbean family, I was expecting more flavor from the snapper, but it was a bit on the bland side. I ended up adding a lot of hot sauce. The beans, rice, and salad were all well done. Sangria a little sweet for my taste. I want to come back and try some other items on the menu.
Pleasantly surprised, thought it was more of a sit down dinner place. The food is incredible. Had the chicken dinner plate, Cuban sandwich and fish tacos. And the fish tacos were the third favorite. Well definitely will be back. And gotta love the Oakland weather too! Having a heat wave in the east bay
I have just recently discovered Cholita Linda and I have to stress out that I am thrilled about it, as anyone who knows me would conclude that, as I don’t normally write public reviews. The ambient is amazing - the warm colors of the walls, great convenient music and even greater food is what makes this place climbing to the top. It really lives up to all your expectations and I love it! My personal favorite from their menu is steak Papito that comes with sweet plantains and swiss cheese, all packed up with amazing flavors to compliment the steak. It is very affordable and gets you full before you know it. There is always a line of people waiting to get one of the amazing things from their menu so get ready for waiting! But, that’s normal given that their food is simply amazing and delicious. They have a patio that is very pleasant for having lunch or dinner.
Overrated and expensive! The fish tacos were OK but Rubios is better. Yes I said Rubios thats how ordinary it was. The chips were way too salty and the service was not good. Wont be returning; its a shame since the restaurant had so many good reviews and I looked forward to trying the food but it ended up a disappointment😕
Decent little place. Good if youre in the area and want Latin American food, though by no means a destination. From Best to worst..The fried yucca was great! Some of the best Ive had.The tacos (chicken Al pastor) were nothing special, ok, kind of bland and tough. The guacamole was neh, browning on the corners and just.. not so good.
The baja fish tacos are excellent. They are cooked just right about 9 out of 10 times. The other time theyll be overcooked. The bigger fish plates are overcooked -- the fryers probably dont do enough of them to get the time right compared to the fish tacos. So my advice is stick with the fish tacos. The other tacos are great too (and probably less variable).
People lose their minds over this place. It’s good. But it’s not wait-in-line-for-half-an-hour good. It has a kinda of kitschy casual charm, and the fish tacos are amazing, to be fair.Tons and tons of hype here—it’s possible that my expectations were a tad bit too high.
This place exceeded my expectations. The food was so fresh and well seasoned. The five you good sized portions. My husband had the crane asada and grilled chicken tacos and I had the free range fried chicken thighs with pinto beans and rice with a fresh garden salad and a sweet potato 🤗 I cant wait to go back and try more items on the menu. Ps. The sangria is also a hitter.
Been here four times already and i cant complain at all. The music always sets me in a good mood. Then the food is hot and tasty add always. The fish plate and the Baja fish tacos are my favorite. Then that margarita niñooo! Back porch seating with bunches of sun spots and shade! Si mi amigo, my favorite cuban spot no doubt.
Amazing! Worth the wait. I had the papito sandwich, it was savory, cheesy and just a hint of sweet. At first I thought this sandwich wouldnt be for me but I was wrong, it pulled it off while excelling at everything else The sandwich was meant to do. Crunchy and easy to handle The whole way through. The staff was friendly and very helpful!
Everything I have had here is great! I highly recommend the sandwiches. I can get two meals out of one. Very fresh ingredients. The ensalada is fantastic. Last time, I added steak and it was great. The blackberry and lime agua fresca is delightful and I usually water mine down a little. The line out the door at dinner time says others agree too.
Cholita Linda is delicious. Their menu includes from tacos, tortas, and some speciality dishes. Ive had almost everything on their menu, and each item is delicious and decently priced (for the Bay, anyway).Seating can be a bit hard to come by during peak times, but they have an awesome outdoor courtyard space in the back thats cozy almost all-year round. Good for dates, good for mates!
The line can be long at peak times but once you order, food comes out pretty quickly. Baja fish tacos are their specialty. I always get them. They offer at least three different agua frescas everyday. You can get a mix of the flavors too. There is a cute little back patio along with tables outside in the front.
After coming to this location several times, I have yet to try a single menu item that was not fantastic. The Papito sandwich, theirnfried fish, aguas frescas, and their coconut dessert are all amazing. The service is also gracious and efficient, and the armosphere is very warm and homey, whether you choose to sit inside atbtheir communal tables or outside on the patio out back.
Hands down the best mexican food I have ever had, I was visiting in Berkeley for 3 days and every day I was there we went back there and had lunch every day, I am almost willing to drive the 200 miles again just for the food here. Service was awesome and the employees were really nice even thought it was busy. Pleasant atmosphere and a great spot.
Delicious!! I had the yuca fries (side sauce had a unique after taste which I didnt quite enjoy) , fish tacos (the best!!), a Cubano which was full of flavor & extra toasty bread just how I like it, the pescado frito plate came with a side of rice fried baby plantains (which were very sweet😋) I requested black beans ( my family is from Central America, Ive been accustomed to eat black beans) to my surprise they were tasty as well I believe they might add bay leafs and oregano and it gives added flavor which is pleasing 😊. You really cant go wrong with any of the plates I mentioned. They offer a mango passion fruit drink and others but that one is my absolute FAVORITE! 😊
Very good food, but maybe not as insanely amazing as the hype would make you think. The wait is long to order but the food comes quick. Order the right thing and it will be a great meal, but there are a few things that are just ok to me. The picadillo plate is incredible and the agua frescas are killer. Prices are ok. Just be prepared to fight for parking and wait a while.
You MUST check out the Pretty Little Gangster Lady. The food here is off the chain, ridiculously delicious. I had the Cubano, wife had the salad with no meat and both of us were exclaiming our delight the entire meal. Seriously. Im not even kidding. Expect to lay around $30.00 for two, and add about $5.00 for each beer if youre into that as well.
Foods ok. The parking lot will either get you a ticket or your window broken. Probably not ever coming back due to that reason alone. They should demand that the lot has more security during the hours its actually needed, not only until 9 pm. 935 pm my car was broken into and almost all of my belonging were taken. Security Must be in cahoots with the culprits because they just shut down my requests for help and security footage. And to the thieves i hope you come back for more cause ill be waiting.
I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this before. I first was exposed to Cholita Linda when it was just a stand at the Farmers Market in Alameda years ago. We used to get the fish tacos and a limeade. The fish tacos are so tasty with that special sauce and fresh ingredients. When I saw the store front on Telegraph I jumped at the chance to try it again. Now I’m a devout follower. I have had the sandwiches, carnitas, yuca fries and aguas frescas. I am so impressed with the quality of their product combined with reasonable prices. Great combo! I am way excited to see have a cholita linda in Alameda!
Literally my new favorite place to get tacos! A little sad I didn’t make a visit sooner!I love the atmosphere of this establishment! When you walk in, the restaurant is spacious/painted with vibrant colors and the furniture compliments the overall theme/vibe they’re going for. Everything reads relaxing and fun.For food, I the ordered carnitas, carne asada, and pollo al pastor tacos. You can skip the chicken but I do heavily recommend the carne asada and carnitas - so juicy and taste oh so good! The plantains met expectations but it was that sauce that gave it it’s extra kick. They also serve Mexican Coca Cola here! Definite plus.Had an amazing experience and will come back!

2021-12-27The food here is really delicious 🤤. The restaurant has Cuban inspiration. Portions are average... We got tofu tacos, sweet plantains, rice and beans, and chicken plate. 4 stars although for not having the tables clean after every customer, especially now in the pandemic. Well definitely come back here again.

2022-04-18Finally we get to try Cholita Linda. It took moving out of the country, a pandemic, moving back to the country to try this yummy place :)Place is lovely and so spacious - few tables outside, community tables inside close to the ordering counter as well as a separate seating area. Lots of space for either small or big groups - kudos! We shared 2 of each tacos with some guac and beans (careful to always order guac or salsa with chips as they dont automatically come with it). Food was delicious and so was the beer!Bathroom is big and clean!

2021-09-27What a great hidden gem in Oakland! I came by this street a couple times and saw there’s a line out there and finally check it out myself. I have to the admit the vibrant and relaxing vibe really strikes me. The music, plants and interior design all match up to a perfect dating or afternoon catch-up with friends. The food is top notched as well. At first we only order some tacos to sit for a while and would possibly get dinner elsewhere, but the taste is really good so we decided to order the sandwich and plate as well. They both exceed my expectations! This is an amazing place I will definitely recommend to others. Will come by again for sure!

2022-04-26Can’t go wrong with this place, one of the very few spots that offers Al pastor Chicken for those who can’t eat pork bbq tacos.Sandwiches are delicious too.On a sunny day patio seating is lit☀️

2021-11-19Since opening up several years ago this place hands down has the best fish tacos - consistently the same any day or time you order it. One to imitate for sure. Their sandwiches are good and so are their pickled red onions. Their plantains on the other hand have been often rushed, burnt and dried.

2022-03-27Our first time eating here, some observations:If you are driving there, parking can be a bit tricky with the new housing blocks, the sidewalk eating places and street parking spaces.Order at the front desk when you get there! They will give you your beverage, a tracker and bring your food to you as it is ready. This was a good thing because we ordered chips & guacamole, some tacos, beans and a Cubano, they didnt wait until the entire order was complete to bring out the food, they brought the food out when it was ready and still hot! The tacos and chips came out first, then the beans, then the Cubano still hot and gooey cheese! To recap, if you are still reading this;1. If you are driving in from outside the neighborhood, grab the first parking space that you see within the block,2. Order at the front desk when you enter, CHECK your order before you pay (it was all messed up last night) but we havnt had that problem in the past,3. Take your tracker and beverage with you and find a table, great indoors or outdoors on the Patio,4. Prepare yourself for some good hot food and great service!5. Think about what you will order on your next visit.

2021-10-24Cholita Linda is a temescal staple. Its prime location makes it an easy place to get a bite. There are SO many good options too.My go to is the chicharrón de pollo and the Agua Fresca. The chicken is crispy and juicy and it comes with a fresh salad and amazing rice and beans. The atmosphere is super casual and fun with great seating both indoors and out. Highly recommend!

2022-05-30It’s was okay but not good. Not worth the money. If you want some good authentic Mexican food don’t go there. You can find better tasting Mexican food at a food truck. The presentation is pretty nice but what really matters is the taste. And the taste was definitely not worth that much.

2022-04-10Hands down AMAZING food! Tried the tacos, and the Baja fish tacos were outstanding!!! Highly recommend coming here. Had to wait a few minutes to order, worth the wait. Another review was on point about parking not being super simple, still worth the effort.
