Ive been to a few weddings on the grounds in my youth. Not sure what it is today but if you go just to stand outside. You will be treated to a temporary time warp. Transplanted to opulent time. This building is a treasure and Im happy to be in a world where it I still exists!
We visited many different venues around Los Angeles, Glendale, Arcadia, and Pasadena for our wedding ceremony and reception. We ended up choosing Castle Green, not just because of the historical architecture and mesmerizing view, but because of the customer service. Dior, the Event Manager at Castle Green, was such a pleasure to work with. She was always smiling and so fun to be around with. We also met and worked with Alexis. She was so friendly and helpful. We loved working with them both. The venue was definitely one of the pricier expenses for the wedding but it was seriously worth every time. You get the venue for the entire day. We maximized our time there with our first look, tea ceremony, wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. The venue fit our amount of guests of a little over 100 very comfortably. Everyone raved about the venue. My now-husbands mom even said it was the perfect venue. We were so excited to host our wedding here because it was no-like any other wedding venues that weve been to. From the set-up, the capacity of the multiple rooms, the layout, to the many, many, many places to take photos within Caste Green, I have no regrets choosing Castle Green for my wedding. We even got to go on the manual elevator to the rooftop for photos -- definitely a must-do if you decide to book with Castle Green.
So far the last summer of my life (Im not dying, I just have to get me a 9 to 5 job real-real soon, same thing though right?) has consisted of many voluntary days of taking my per-teen/teen cousins to various youth-friendly places all around Nor Cal. Im telling you I should charge their parents and run my own summer day-camp.
Im rating this event venue as an attendee of two wedding receptions here. Both were really beautiful and theres lots of space here to do whatever you might want. Indoor or outdoor receptions are possible and everything has a nice vintage feel to it. The only negative would be the restrooms which are quite dated.
Went to the Jazz on the Green event on 9/25/19 hosted by the 125 year old non-profit Friends in Deed. Great venue and a worthy cause. I highly recommend Castle Green for as a venue, and the Friends in Deed event for a great night and top notch event benefiting the Pasadena undeserved community!
Very beautiful....a friend of mine had their wedding and reception here. Very impressive staff and lovely grounds...the reception had about 200 of guests and we felt very welcomed and the sound of the music from the DJ and dance floor was never an issue. Everyone had a blasty blast. A very beautiful venu☺.
A beautiful place with really cool decor. We got married here and the process was so easy and accommodating. We were suppose to be at the Aboretum, but we were worried about encountering rain on our day that we looked for another venue. It was so last minute, we were panicking, feeling hopeless, and angry at the same time, but Castle Green took our call and said we will get you married! Phew, what a relief, we were so happy to hear those words. Every after that just went smoothly. Great decor for great photography.
My wife and I booked Castle Green for October 1, 2016 for our wedding. We went through several venues in the area, Lankham, Hilton, and other hotels/banquet halls, but they were either too plain or too expensive or restricted us to use THEIR catering company and vendors. We ended up with Castle Green because it just looks so rustic and beautiful, inside and out. Its over 100 years old and is a historical landmark. FYI, book it early as they do fill up fast and they pretty much are booked EVERY Saturday. Plus the venue is nice enough to do our bridal party pictures, ceremony, AND reception in one place.Upstairs are apartments in which tenants live...so they do have some restrictions in loud music, how late you can stay, appointments to visit venue, etc...But good thing about them, you can have the ENTIRE first floor, including the lobby, ballroom, turkish/moorish room, sunroom, patios, foye, and large yard. This is great if you have a lot of people and kids (we had 200 adults and 30 kids). We worked with Dior, the director, and Danielle, one of her assistants. They were so accommodating for us, as strict as the venue can sound. They worked with us continuously to help us move the wedding along. But be warned, they do have things due a month before, a week before, etc...which is a long checklist of things to do or show to the venue. So stay on top of things and do things EARLY. Both Dior and Danielle are super friendly and helpful and extremely approachable. THey let us visit the venue at our convenience when we needed to show vendors, our parents, etc. They even will allow us, after the wedding, to bring my wifes Grandma to come to the venue to see it as she was too sick to make it for our Oct 1 date.Come wedding time, they provided a venue supervisor to make sure everything is being followed, including the timeline, and to make sure we dont break any of the venues requirements. We were allowed in at 1:30pm and had to be out at 10:30pm (vendors at 11:30pm for cleanup), otherwise an $800 overtime charge per hour would have been charged. I wish they extended their hours but it makes sense cause of tenants living upstairs. Venue was gorgeous after the ceiling swags, the uplighting, and all the decorations. We all had a good time and Im going to miss this venue. Were thinking of doing our 1 year anniversary here but its quite a bit of money. The yearly tours may have to suffice for now :)In summary, this is a GREAT place for a wedding or event. Its a hidden gem in old town Pasadena, close to everything, especially the bars and food! They treat you extremely well and walk you through everything. They do get behind in emails sometimes, so I recommend calling if you need something ASAP.PS, I recommend you using their valet, catering vendors

2022-06-05We held our wedding at the Castle Green in February 2022, and could not have picked a more incredible venue. We fell in love with the stunning garden, amazing old tree, and beautiful architecture. From the beautiful lobby and salon rooms to the outdoor spaces to the rooftop, there were so many gorgeous places to take photos. Our guests were all amazed but the historical venue and how beautifully it had been preserved. Tatiana and her team at the Castle Green were so incredibly kind, helpful, and wonderful to work with before, during, and after the big day. Highly recommend!

2022-05-23Historic building in Pasadena rich in history. Visiting here is always a treat. The decor is still original with plenty of modern upgrades. When you walk into the main foyer, it feels like walking back in time. Everything is kept very well and even their old elevator is still in operation. Book here for your next event!

2022-05-29Amazing wedding venue. I would be careful though if you have a dj. You just have to put him in the right spot. The cloums in the place eat up a lot of sound.

2018-02-26Just married here on 2/17/18 was the absolute BEST PLACE and we looked EVERYWHERE and I am not kidding! Castle Green was the absolute best location to get married if you are in to vintage decor, history, historical structures, and the best ambiance around. It has everything that you will need and Dior was so helpful and lovely while we were planning, I recommend this place to any and every one who is looking for a spectacular venue to get married in! Plus it is very affordable compared to other venues in and around Los Angeles! Check it out! You will NOT regret it.

2021-02-22Nice historic place to visit. The establishment is now rented as studio apartments. The grounds were well kept and have some unique flowers and a koi pond. The architecture is antique and still in a preserved condition. Within walking distance of restaurants and shopping. Theres really no parking on the street so youll have to park in a parking lot somewhere and walk here.
