We did the 13 mile bike ride around West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. We took many breaks to hear Hollywood stories. There were many hills. We decided to be lazy and upgrade to the e-bike. People in their 50s were able to bike the hills on regular bikes. We had no bathroom break on the 3 hour trip. I assume if someone would have requested a stop, Erik (our guide) would have made it possible. Bring your own water. It was a fun tour and bikes are top quality Giants. Free parking in their lot. Our guide was born and raised in LA and had good stories.
George was our guide and it was amazing! He got us up to the sign took amazing shots of my daughter and I. I was hesitant that I would be able to make it but he assured me that we could stop if needed and made sure we remained hydrated and stole shade where possible! I highly recommend our tour guide George! He has a wealth of knowledge to share!I would definitely book again!
Great hike, not too difficult but enough to get your heart pumping. Beautiful views of the Hollywood sign on the way up, well worth it. Big shout out to our tour guide ERIK. No shortage of interesting stories, facts and nuggets to share and he made the experience extra enjoyable with his seemingly infinite knowledge of LA and its rich history. I just moved here and he was kind enough to give me so much useful advice as we walked. Great guide, great hike, great experience. 5 stars.
Great experience. My girlfriend and I did the LA in a day tour on E-Bikes (definitely worth it with the hills). Kris with a K was a great guide and gave a great personal spin on the town. Really enjoyed the immersion into Hollywood history. Would recommend to anyone who likes to bike and explore.
This is my first review ever. Erik was literally the best service I’ve ever had to the point that I felt compelled to write a review. He was super informative and great with my 7year old! I would take tour with him any day. Thanks Erik!!Also… look at his photography skills!
Had a great time! Would definitely recommend for those visiting. Had been wanting to go bike riding for some time, and didnt want to bike around clueless so I decided to do a 2 in 1, a bike tour! My tour ended up being private due to cancelations and I enjoyed every bit of it. Bike through Beverly Hills, saw celebrity houses, went window shopping on Rodeo Dr, took pics with a sexy Santa and at the pink wall! The guys at the shop are all super friendly too. I would also highly recommend the e-bike!
Bikes and Hikes LA is an amazing company with outstanding tours! I’ve done all of their tours and they are all phenomenal! Best way to see and learn about LA with super friendly, fun and informative guides who show you LA from the inside out while enjoying the perfect weather and getting a great workout at the same time. Skip the bus tours, nothing beats exploring a city by bike or hike. It will be the highlight of your trip to LaLa Land. Griffith Park Hike, LA in a Day and the Celebrity Bike Tour were my favorites. Highly recommended!
My family and I took the 3 hour Hollywood Bike Tour with Erik and had an amazing time. Erik knew so much about his hometown, and we learned so much about the Hollywood area! He took us to some amazing spots, that we would have never found on our own! Being my family and I love food, we loved the original farmers market! This tour was one of the most memorable experiences of our visit to the LA area! We would do a different one next time we visit! Thanks Bikes and Hikes and Erik!
We had a really great hike with Sarah in Griffith Park. We were 3 adults and a 9 and 12 year old. The walk was a bit more challenging than we expected but still manageable. I’d recommend lots of water and some snacks (if you have kids). One of our party was from the LA area and she enjoyed the history and views too. The views were amazing and we appreciated the breaks and fun facts from Sarah. Definitely recommend!
George was such an awesome guide! He came prepared with waters for us and made sure we remembered to stay hydrated. He was so engaging and knowledgeable and it made the hike fun while learning cool facts about the city. *BONUS* he was THE BEST photographer and we got so many amazing pictures with our group. 10/10 would recommend!
Our Hollywood bike tour with George was splendid. He was knowledgeable and made sure to keep all of us safe, taught us so much history behind what we were seeing and went out of his way to give us insider tips / lots of travel recs! He was also clear, humorous and answered our questions with detailed explanations. No other way we’d rather see Hollywood, really! Thanks heaps George 😀👍🏼 Keep up the good work!
After spending nearly 8 hours traveling to LA, the last thing I expected my partner and I to enjoy was a 3+ hours hike up a mountain, but it turned out to be the perfect break between the crush and rush of airport travel and the conference that brought us to LA. Its a credit to the majesty of Griffith Park that the hours felt like they went by *too* fast and we finished the hike wishing we had more time to explore the trails. Griffith Parks beauty -- the vistas, birdwatching opportunities, and desert flora -- was a wonderful way to begin our time in LA.Making the experience even better was our guide, George, whose positivity kept our groups energy and spirits up. Radiating good vibes and cheer while espousing his love for LA and its history, George made an already memorable experience even better. Our entire party was out-of-towners, and between trivia about the park and LA, he also provided suggestions for eateries, bars, and entertainment near our conference.10/10 - Go hike up a mountain with George! You wont regret it.
The tour with Erik was hands-down one of the best experiences Ive ever had. a whole say of biking with gorgeous weather, in a gorgeous city - cant really beat that. Biking LA is such a fun and exciting way to experience the city. The e-bike is well-worth it too! Erik is super knowledgeable and his love of LA was palpable. We spent the day laughing and telling stories. The varied backdrops of all the neighborhoods we visited added to the magical experience. Im so glad I decided to go on this tour with Erik!!! He was thoughtful of everyones needs - always checking on how we were feeling, and looking out for our safety. I absolutely recommend this experience to anyone wanting to see the city from a new vantage point. 10 STARS!!!
Such an amazing experience! Erik was the best tour guide. He made the whole experience exceptional. He has so much knowledge and fun facts which made the tour so memorable. He was patient and ensured that all the riders were comfortable. The other associates were delightful too. I would recommend everyone visiting LA (and locals) take the tour. On a side note: I would suggest to anyone who hasnt ridden a bike in a while or may not be the most physically active, pay the few extra dollars for the ebike option. It doesnt do all the work for you as you would still need to pedal but the ebike will help keep your momentum going as it gives you a boost every now and then so you can keep up with the group. It made all the difference for me.
We did a private tour with Harris who was awesome - super fun, knowledgeable, but kept it nice and relaxed - perfect. Being out on the bikes, you really feel like you see so much of LA and start to get an understanding for the city - much more so than if you were stuck in boring tour bus! Would thoroughly recommend.
The hike was really excellent and the guide, Miriam, was so personable! She really made the experience interesting by telling great stories about the sign and Hollywood itself. Miriam came prepared with water and snacks, just in case. Highly recommended hike and tour for all skill levels
Came all the way down from Canada. The electric bikes are so fun to cruise around with and you see all these cool places. The best way to get around Beverley Hills and West Hollywood. Liz our tour guide gave us a bodacious time and she was great with pointing out all the awesome landmarks. An experience I won’t forget anytime soon.
6 Hip Tips to Book the Hollywood Hike TourYou can create memorablemoments, scenic photographs, and smiles if you book this hike. As an avid hiker that typically uses intuition or a compass, it was refreshing to have a guide. The main reason is that hiking restrictions are constantly changing with access to the sign. When you book a tour, you learn more and get more for the price. Essentially, priceless. We went on a Tuesday, slightly overcast and max temp. was 73°. There was a group of 16. Athleticism ranged from avid hikers to couch potatoes. Even those that never walked a block, were able to make it to the iconic sign. No bathrooms. Not even at local gas stations. Youll have to hold it or release it in nature. I would recommend this trip for ages 9+.Perhaps these tips may convince you to book it!Sarah, the guide, is vivacious, high energy, humorous, and passionate with history. Tipping is good karma. My 11 year-old was so impressed with Sarahs presentation that she commented, Sarah is very personable. Thats a nice quality in a woman. Go figure.Best time to go is overcast day. Photos are still beautiful. If its sunny, it will be hot and uncomfortable and for some unbearable.Views, vistas, photo ops, scenic, angles, IG friendly and picturesque moments. If you live in San Diego or Santa Barbara this would be a freakin cool day trip adventure.Totally recommended for bachelor/bachelorette activity (take tequila for a toast at the top). Memorable for couples, families, mature couples or date one or date 100.Booking, email communication and reminders was professional and timely.Let me know how these tips worked for you.
Just arrive in town for a holiday with my family and had no idea where to start. The Hollywood tour was a perfect way to get a feel for the town. Our guide Harris was great. Has lots of knowledge and gave us lots of ideas for the rest of our holiday. We are coming back for another tour in a few days. Thx
Miriam gave us a great walking tour to the Hollywood sign. She shared lots of fun stories about the history of the area. She gave us plenty of opportunities to take photos and seemed to care about us and the experience. She’s studying to be an actor and has a role in a film this summer. She’s awesome!
Went on a hike this morning at Solstice Canyon. Not having been on a guided hike didn’t know what to expect. Then we met Erik Hines. He not only was a fabulous guide but also an incredible person. Look forward to using LA bikes and hikes next trip and will be sure to request Erik as my guide
Did the Hollywood tour (3 hrs). Had Harris as my tour guide and he did a wonderful job. Stopped by Melrose ave, LA farmers market, paramount studios, la brea tar pits, walk of fame… amongst other places.Definitely recommend this tour. Harris is very knowledgeable about the area and about LA history in general. Was great talking to him and found it to be very educational and a great outdoors activity
Big shout out to the guide, Erik. He really made the tour with great insight and knowledge. This isnt something we would have thought to do on our own but was our highlight of LA. Awesome views across LA and surrounding area. We found the hike pretty easy but are regular hikers.
We went on the Hollywood sign tour. George was a awesome guide. Gave the history of the Hollywood sign and beginnings of L.A. He made sure everyone knew what was going on and was prepared. He even gave inside info on things to do in the greater L.A. area. I cant say enough.good about him. Be sure to tip your guides as well.
Its not everyday that I actively decide to hike 5.5 miles on an incline as intense as the Hollywood Hills in Griffith Park, but I am so happy that I took part in the sunset hike with Bikes and Hikes LA! What a stunning way to explore Griffith Park and see the beautiful city of LA in ways I couldnt possibly have imagined. Our guide, Elizabeth, was incredible! Absolutely elevated the whole experience with her amazing energy and never-ending knowledge of the surrounding areas. As well as an over abundance of quirky/fun stories throughout the entire hike. As beat as I was by the end of the hike, I wish it could have lasted longer because Im sure Elizabeth had many more stories to tell - would have loved to find out all about the many locations 500 Days of Summer was shot at (her specialty). Overall, such a great experience and friendly/supportive staff. Look forward to returning to LA and trying the bike tour! Also! Dont be afraid to go alone! There were quite a few single hikers who very quickly made friends with other hikers in our group and not to mention, Elizabeth was very kind to help everyone get that perfect shot for the Gram.
Exceptional Hollywood sign tour by George! His enthusiasm for the history of the area was contagious, his local knowledge impeccable, his photography skills A list worthy and to top it all off he even gave us a lift down when we couldn’t get signal for Uber. 10/10, thanks George!
So much fun!!! I have done a number of bike tours in various cities around the world and this was the most entertaining! The guides were fantastic. Chatty, engaging, friendly! What more could you ask??The tour itself was awesome, we saw so much of LA and learnt so much random trivia along the way. There are definitely some hills (Beverly Hills isnt just a pretty name!) and you cover a lot of ground so be prepared for a sore butt if you are like me and dont ride in your day to day life. So worth it though! The team provide water and snacks and lunch was available for purchase at Venice Beach. Perhaps most importantly, an ice cold beer was also provided back at the depot at the end of the tour. What more can I say? Do this tour!! You wont regret it!
We had a great time. Kate was an amazing tour guide. very knowledgable.Highly recommend this tour. we have been to Griffith Park and the observatory before, but we drove last time. the hike was so much better. beautiful views. Great view of the Hollywood sign and LA and the park and the observatory is amazing. Kate had great info and stories to tell about the park. and its a good hike and workout as well but well worth it. great value as well.
The 6 hour bike tour was well worth the time and money. We couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide than Harris, he was professional and provided an immense amount of knowledgeable fun facts throughout the entire trip. The pedal assist bikes worked as advertised and were worth the upgrade, especially while biking through the steep inclines in Beverly Hills. A highly recommended adventure, a very fun way to tour the city!
Newer LA local here. This is the most AMAZING tour I’ve done in Los Angeles. Today I took the LA in a Day bike tour with Eric, and he was the BEST tour guide I’ve ever had(and that’s after I’ve traveled to 14 countries & 28 states). The weather was super chaotic, torrential downpour, but I was committed to this tour. Bikes and Hikes LA matched that energy and safely accommodated me. Eric was absolutely committed to giving me the best experience. He had the all-star combination of being caring, aware, dedicated, super knowledgeable, and beyond friendly. Always looking out for my comfort and safety. Through the toughest storms, Eric had me constantly smiling. This is an experience you CANNOT MISS in LA.
My family and I recently traveled to West Hollywood and did a bike tour around Beverly Hills, central Hollywood, and other city parts. The tour was gorgeous and scenic specially when biking up the Beverly Hills and seeing the beautiful architecture. We had a great tour guide, Sara. I definitely recommend this as it’s the perfect tour form, it’s neither too fast nor too slow. The service was very good and hospitable as the owner gave us water bottles.
Ive been on two hikes now with Bikes and Hikes LA and love this company and what they do! If youre visiting LA (or even if youre a local), dont miss out on the knowledge and friendliness of the guides, the amazing views and experiences, and the memories youll make. Top-notch, five-star experience!
Very pleasant and informative bike tour. Highly recommended!Bikes and Hikes gave excellent support and knowledge for the The ultimate Los Angeles bike tour. They provided a personal attetion together with high-quality brand new bikes.I have not been on a bike in several years and this was a great way to get myself back into biking with a fun group and a personal follow-up.I had a great time from start to finish. Our tour guide, Dan and his trainee David were always right there close to help. They really paid attention to details and went out of their way to make the tour as pleasant as possible for all of us.It was an incredible opportunity for exercise and education. Dan is very friendly and knowledgeable of the city and its history. In every step of the tour, he suprised us with different stories. It was very entertaining and exciting. This tour was a superb exploration of the city and a memorable experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone! The personal attention and entertainment provided by the group leaders takes their tours to the next level. Thank you Dan and David for a wonderful day. I would go back in a minute to another tour with Bikes and Hikes!
This was so much more than just seeing celebrity homes. It was a great way to learn about the history of West Hollywood / Beverly Hills and was so much fun. Kris was an incredible guide and kept us laughing the whole time. The tour is decently hilly at the beginning but after the initial few, it is a pretty managable tour for the regular bikes!
We had a fantastic experience on the Official Hollywood Sign Hike. George was AWESOME! My now fiancé proposed while on the hike and George captured the moment with EXCELLENT photos and a video! Overall, George was super fun, had great suggestions for each group on the tour, and made sure we all had great views and pictures of the Hollywood sign! He also provided interesting background and history on the sign. Thanks again George!
Such a fun experience! JP was the tour guide, and I would highly recommend him. It’s evident he enjoys what he does and knows so much about LA, even besides what the tour offers. You see so much of LA in six hours, and most of all, the trip gives you great ideas for spots to visit again in LA. Fortunately, we had a small group which was awesome. If you’re in decent shape, you’ll be glad you do this one! Customer service great.
LA in a day is the best way to see LA! I booked it near the beginning of my trip, which was super smart as I was confident with direction and knowing where I was going for the remainder of my time here. Also, the energy of our guide, JP, and the group was so spirited it made a positive first impression of a city that is double the size of my home.
Did the hike to the Griffith Observatory. It was a hot day and one of our group had a hard time with the hills and heat and recent travel and had to take rest breaks. Our guide, while full of interesting facts, was not very supportive, told us in front of the group that we could just go back down and that he could not delay the tour just for us. ( It was advertised as an easy 2.5 hour sunset hike which took less than 2 hours and was done long before sunset.) We pushed on knowing that the second half was downhill. The hike itself was beautiful but the whole situation was a little embarrassing and a bit disappointing.Response to owners response-This is a review of our experience and Im sure that others had a different experience. But since you have now accused me of lying, I have no choice but to respond. We took a picture at the observatory several minutes after our guide left us there. It was 6:30 - 2 hours after the 2.5 hour hike started. There was plenty of time to give us a few minutes to rest given the heat of the day. We were with one other family - if they were frustrated with us, I was unaware. I just feel it could have been handled better. This is my review. Please do not call me a liar.
This was the MOST FUN thing we did on our trip to LA. LOVED the E-bike and our guide Kris was both informative and personable. The tour covered a wide variety of locations and I loved learning about West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Greystone Mansion. Best tour ever.
Our tour guide Eric was fantastic. Enthusiastic, funny and professional he gave us a great experience out of something I wasn’t initially interested in. If you’re looking to tour Hollywood in any fashion cruising around on E-bikes is definitely the best way to do it and this shop clearly puts pride in their work and try’s hard to give people a fun experience.
My first bike tour, and hopefully not my last! Harris was an exceptional guide, offered lots of interesting tales about LA history, and very adept at navigating through different neighborhoods and throughways. Definitely recommend for seeing a wide swath of the city while enjoying the beautiful weather!
I try to visit LA every year, and Ive done 3 tours with them. The Beverly Hills bike tour, hiking Griffith Observatory, and last year I did LA in a day. They are awesome. All the tour guides are friendly, knowledgeable, and funny. Even with Covid-19 I was able to do LA in a day, and see a lot. The tour guides Kris and Eric are amazing. I recommend this place to everyone who visits LA, and you wont regret it.
Highlight of my SoCal trip. This LA in a day tour was amazing. I used to think LA was just a big bowl of yucky smog. But Erik, the guide, had such a passion for LA, and shared so many details about its history, present happenings, and future possibilities, that it truly made me appreciate the city in a new way. I cant say enough about how good this tour was. And the electric bikes were awesome. We covered 30+ miles. I never thought of LA as a bike-friendly city...but it actually is, if you know where to go. Thank you!!!!
Worst experience ever as a company, extremely rude. After reading reviews from multiple websites, I decided to rent a bike from this location. Apparently this guys dont check their bike before renting and I got a defective bike. As you can see from the elevation map I was riding downhill and didnt realize it it is defective until I tried to go uphill. When I realized it and called them and after second try they were able to fix the bike and I came back and asked for a refund. Until this time everything was going as business as usual, then rental employee called his boss to explain the situation. Unfortunately, owner dont realize that he is in service industry and started yelling at me over the phone. I calmly explained my situation and showed all the photos and videos that I took to his employee. They denied any wrongdoing even though I had all the proof.Attached photos are proof to show the elevation map and time/milage.Instead of apologizing they continue lying.
We spent a week in CA and our LA bike tour was our favorite day. Erik was awesome! He was extremely knowledgeable about the area, kept us super-safe and was just a blast to be around! If anyone goes to LA and wants to see it by bike, no doubt you need to ask for a tour with Erik!
Decided to fly here for my bday weekend after other plans got derailed, and I’ve never been hiking so I figured why not go big. My hotel was in Santa Monica and I took an Uber to the site(it was worth it). I was here for 4 days and did a lot of things and this was definitely the highlight of my trip. Harris our tour guide was perfect( I was expecting a robot lol), he’s really knowledgeable and laid back. Our group meshed well but Harris really broke the ice, a very fun group. If you want to do this hike on your own to ahead, but i will definitely come back and do it with them. Thank you guys so much for a great birthday weekend!
This was my first trip to the States and therefore the first time in LA. I only had 3 days passing through, so immediately booked a guided bike tour around the city, thinking this would be the best way to avoid traffic, see all the sights and get a little exercise done!I was certainly not disappointed! Despite an unusual downpour, our guide, Erik, kept our small group of three in high spirits with stories from his youth growing up in the area and explaining about the awesome mix of cultures in the city. His breadth and depth of knowledge on all things LA-related is astounding! From pointing out little-known architectural gems to knowing the history of ownership of particular houses and estates, going all the way back to the previous century, there was no question he couldnt answer. By the time we were at the coast in the afternoon, it was sunny and warming up, leading to a great cruise along the coast and back to West Hollywood just as the sun was setting. If you have a day, are in reasonable shape and want a unique way to experience around 30 miles of the city, this is definitely something you should try! Ill be back in LA in a few months time and Ive already promised the crew at Bikes and Hikes LA that Ill be back to experience this epic tour again - hopefully with a little less rain!
Really enjoyed our 3hr bike ride. Tour guide (Andrew) was knowledgeable and took the toutlr at our pace. Great local insights and very safe. Great way to see LA and Id definitely recommend it.We booked a bike with a child seat and it was very good quality and fantastic to ride with.
06/23/19 We went on the LA in a day tour and it was excellent. We covered so many areas in just one day. It was amazing how many places we can say we have been and seen after this tour. Our tour guide, George was terrific! He shared a lot of information about the area. Our epic adventure was especially challenging and George took care of everything. I would highly recommend any of their tours. This was a very physically challenging ride. The first few hours are hilly. It is also over 30 miles. My first tip would be unless you cycle 20+ miles 3X per week, upgrade to an E-bike. They are very easy to use and well worth the extra fee. This way you have the option of having assistance with the hills if needed. Also, consider what terrain you are accustomed to; we came from Florida where it is relatively flat, so this was especially difficult. Another tip, if you leave your purse or bag behind, make sure you take your sun screen out first. This was our favorite outing during our L.A. visit. If you dont have this much time. Consider one of their shorter tours.
I dead the Hollywood sign hike on Saturday December 7th. What a fabulous way to get fabulous photos of the Hollywood sign and to get great views of Hollywood and the rest of LA. The hike is easy going; anybody can enjoy it. There were 10 other people on the tour with me, all with very different fitness levels, and it was very clear that everyone enjoyed it thoroughly. Our guide Kate was amazing. She did a perfect job of pacing the hike so that everybody got the most out of it. And she was so knowledgable about Hollywood, LA and Griffith Park, as well as hugely entertaining. You have to do this tour!
From hilltop Beverly Hills mansions to white sand beaches and everything in between, this tour literally has it all!As a resident of Los Angeles, I was worried I wouldn’t see or do anything new, however, I was pleasantly surprised by the knowledge of our tour guide, George. The best tour I’ve ever had. He kept it fun and exciting. This bike tour is a must for anyone visiting (or living) in LA.
We had a great hike with Kate. Our family of 5 was on LA for the first time and we enjoyed the guided hike because we got some good stories and history of the area and the Hollywood hills. Kate was very energetic and did a good job of keeping the hike moving, but taking adequate breaks. I had the youngest people in the group, with 10,12, and 17 year olds, so I wasnt sure if the hike was going to be too much for my youngest. We hike at home, but dont have white the same incline. The very beginning of the hike is uphill and I was hearing some groans from my youngest, but after the first stop or two, he was fully engaged and loving it. Id recommend it for all ages.
My co-workers and I all agree Bikes and Hikes has the best outdoor activities in LA - we had a choice of all sorts of team building tours including sand castle building, whale watching and yoga in the park! Our whole group went on the foodie bike tour - what a blast! Great staff, awesome adventure and the bikes were fun and felt safe! Highly recommended!
Did the LA in a Day cycle tour. Kris was a great guide with lots of knowledge, great story about the munchkin actors from Wizard of Oz and their behavior at the hotel they were set up in during the filming. Lots of sites and change in landscape throughout the day. Absolutely recommend upgrading to an ebike and bringing sunscreen. Highlight of the weekend. Thanks for the experience.
I did an incredible day-long Los Angeles bike tour with them last year and loved it so much that I convinced my company to use Bikes and Hikes to provide activities for the different teams that were coming to LA for a big corporate event. Some did a hike in the Hollywood Hills to see the Hollywood Sign, some did a bike tour in Santa Monica and Venice Beach, and every single person had a fantastic time! They were able to accommodate every single request we threw at them, and their staff was phenomenal.
Went on a bike tour this morning and it was a totally awesome experience. Ive lived in L.A. for 25 years, and I felt like I was seeing the city for the first time, with fresh eyes: I saw all these cool, tucked-away neighborhoods and scenic views Id never even been aware of. And it was a good workout. I highly recommend Bikes & Hikes!
Went on a hike round Griffiths park to the hollywood sign. Alina was our guild and she was brilliant, she was friendly, personable and she had stories and information about the every area of LA. She also looked after everyone and when some people in the group fell behind she went to help and even helped carry one baby for a section of the hike to give the mother a break. The hike itself was very well paced, some lovely photo spots, not too challenging but enough that you know your doing a hike! All in all thank you Alina! Would definitely recommend.
I was on the Sunset hike of Bikes and Hikes in Griffith Park. I had an absolute blast, our tour guide Kayla knew so much about the park itself, the city of Los Angeles, and she had a enthusiastic way of telling her stories that made it entertaining and easy to follow her. The hike itself is moderate, the first part is the hardest, where we had to ascend about 400ft. It was well worth the view though. Fantastic outlooks over Los Angeles county and if youre lucky with the weather and its not too hazy you get a nice view of the Hollywood sign. The tour was rounded off with visiting the Griffith observatory, where Kayla had a lot of interesting stories to tell again and we got to touch an age-old meteor piece. I definitely recommend taking a hike with Bikes and Hikes!
Ive done three tours at Bikes and Hikes LA. All three were awesome! The LA in a Day is my absolute favorite, because I got to see the whole city in just a couple of hours. I loved being outside and learning about this great city. Also the Sunset Hike I did was just voted the number one tour in Where Magazine. Bikes and Hikes LA is really proud of that and now I know why. It is an amazing hike and the view is incredible. After seeing everything up close on the LA in a Day and the Hollywood Bike Adventure, the Sunset Hike was a great way to get to see the city from above. Incredible. I would definitely recommend these tours to everyone!!!!
My fiancé and I wanted to discover Hollywood without the traffic and hassle of finding a parking spot. Booking with this company was extremely easy. Upon arrival we were greeted at the door by two friendly men who had us sign waivers. They then directed us to the back where we got our gear. They also provide water!!! Once we got outside our tour guide Andrew, got us fitted on our bikes. He was extremely friendly and very talkative. The tour was very fun. Andrew told a lot of fun facts along the way. We stopped and took a few pictures and were given time to look around a few places. This tour was amazing. I would highly recommend Andrew as a tour guide!!
I recently did the LA in a Day Bike tour and it was just amazing. I had no idea how great it can be discovering a city by bike. Our guide Danny was great and very interactive which we enjoyed very much. The tour covers the best landmarks of LA plus great exercise! I will definitely check out their other tours as well. Thanks Bikes and Hikes LA for a great experience and the best day in Los Angeles!
Such fun!! I went on 2 bike experiences around Beverly Hills and Hollywood, and 1 hike up to the Hollywood sign. All experiences were great and everyone there was so welcoming. Travelling by myself but never get alone on these trips with the team...fully recommended!! 👍🏻😁
We had a great time on our Hollywood bike tour. We had a group of seven people that ranged in age from 4 years old to 63 years old, and everyone loved it. Our young daughters had a blast, and we never felt unsafe with them on the road. One daughter rode a tag-a-long, and the other rode in a trailer. Danny was a funny, informed tour guide. We will be bringing more of our guests here when they come to visit us.
Every time I am in LA I book a tour with Bikes and Hikes and everytime I am glad I did. Earlier this month we did the LA in a day bike tour again. We feel like we covered about as much as you could of LA in a day. Our guide Chase was incredibly knowledgable and answered all of our many questions. Also he makes the ride a lot of fun! From start to finish the tour was fantastic. In the beginning of the tour you have to conquer some (Beverly) hills but the guide stops enough to tell about the attractions while you can catch your breath again. As soon as you leave Beverly Hills the rest of the ride is flat and easy to do (even when you are not an experienced bike rider). Everyone should do this tour when in LA. It is the best way to see the city. It is so much better to be on a bike with that LA weather than stuck in traffic in your air conditioned car! On my tour there were even some locals, that is how interesting it is! Would highly recommend it!
Our family had a beautiful ride through Santa Monica and Venice with Bikes and Hikes. The tour guide, Alex, was well prepared and knowledgeable, the bikes were in excellent condition, and the locale was fascinating. We were also pleased with our guide’s recommendations on things to do and places to eat nearby after the tour finished.
Great. We did the Hollywood tour, very fun to visit Hollywood in a different way, our guide Eric was great, not only at the talking part but also at signaling us/other traffic/pedestrians, guiding us safely through the busier sections and on communicating with our 6 year old (who did not understand a word he was saying as she speaks no English).Bikes are in very good condition.
Bikes & Hikes is just awesome. We had a great tour with Marc. They really know LA inside and out. We learned so many things. Much much better than those tourist bus tours. Great interaction in our group and just a terrific staff. Cant wait to do this again..They also had the coolest mascot..Woof woof Tucker.
This was a great way to spend our first day in LA seeing the sites! Our guide, Danny, was fantastic, full of facts and he really engaged with our 2 boys (10&7). A comfortable pace riding and Danny made you feel confident driving with the traffic on the roads. I would highly recommend this for value, fun and experience.
This hike was the highlight of my trip to LA. George really looked after the group, was so knowledgeable and friendly and gave us so much history, I didnt expect to come away learning so many new facts. Thanks George! I highly recommend the hike, I will be back next time.
If you’ve never been to LA then there is no better way to see the sites of the city than on this fabulous bike ride. From Belair to the beach and Venice to Hollywood it is a blast all the way. Don’t worry about the hills, my wife went on an eBike and declared it great fun! Thanks to Robbie in the office and Zak on the road for a brilliant day. It was so good we booked a sunset hike from the Greek theatre in Hollywood up into the hills to see the Hollywood sign and the observatory as the sun set and the City came to light. Highly recommended and thanks to Michael our knowledgeable guide. Well done Bikes&Hikes can’t recommend you more highly.
Wow what a ride! I would recommend bike shorts on the tour as the seats are not cushioned. This is definitely the best way to see a lot of the city. Also this is not a novice ride the hills took out a few in our group. Being an experienced rider is a plus. Staff was great and very well versed in the city. Our group was Chase and Lindsay.
A great experience! Our guide Eric was very knowledgeable, always upbeat, concerned about his clients, and showed his real interest in telling us about the sites we visited. I learned so much and had an experience biking LA that I would have never thought possible. It was fantastic. Just the exercise and experience I was looking for.
I took the LA in a Day Bike Tour earlier this month and it was fantastic. You do not need to be an experienced biker to take this tour altough you get to see a lot of the city. Our very informative guide Chase took us from West Hollywood to Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Westwood, Santa Monica and Venice. You see parts of the city up close that you otherwise might just pass by on a bus tour or in a car. The best way to see the city!
These guys were great, 3 of them took us on the tour with the lead being his 1st time. The guides were great. I ended up being 15 minutes late & the shuttled me to a point to meet up with the group. Water, well timed breaks for the buttocks & lunch made the 6+ hour trip a blast. Would definitely do again.
This is probably the best way to see Los Angeles. The tour was exceptionally organised and Eric and Matthew were awesome and Eric is extremely knowledgeable. I learnt a lot about the city which I definitely wouldnt have otherwise. I would recommend this bike tour to everyone who comes to Los Angeles. You will have the best time ever.
This tour company is something special! The guide on the tour didnt only know a lot about the surroundings, but was sooo fun and full of energy as well! Also the front desk staff was great and helpful. If you are using one tour company in LA, it just has to be Bikes and Hikes LA 👌
I visited L.A. with friends & we wanted to go hiking. Needless to say, our tour guide was very friendly & knowledgeable with recommendations. Our hiking excursion went smoothly & we had a great time! I would highly recommend them and would definitely go back to do the biking tour next time!
We did the Hollywood Hills Sunset Hike and it was amazing!! Our tour guide, Else, was so knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. I have been on guided tours before and they are normally a walk, point, and take pictures thing but this was so much more. She knows more than what to point and show you and gives so many historical and interesting facts about everything. She also gave suggestions of other places to visit based on your interests and answered all of our weird, random, questions that sometimes had nothing to do with the tour we were on lol. I have exercise induced asthma and dont workout but I did fine on the tour so if you are worried about anything like that dont be. They are very accommodating and will let you go at a comfortable pace. I definitely recommend this to anyone visiting California.
We had decided to book the Hollywood hike tour since we have never been and wanted to do the tour. We booked it a few days in advanced for the am tour since we had other plans later in the day. Since we werent staying super close to the location we left about an hour early. On the way there(about 45 before our tour) we got an email saying they had rebooked our tour. It would have been nice if they could have given us more notice so we could have found something else to do and we were not the only people to show up. Very poor communication. Wasted a perfectly good day when we could have done another tour for the money we spend on the pass.
My girlfriend and I got caught in traffic so we had to catch up with the group, fortunately we found them because we can hear the tour guide Nina from the bottom of the trail given they had a 20mins head start. Goes to show how interactive and vocal and lively the staff are. And kelly the trainee was awesome as well always keeping an eye on the group making sure no one gets left behind. It was an over-all educational and relaxing hike. I would suggest and recommend this group all day.
Hi Mom! I made it to the top of Hollywood!Yes, I sent that ridiculous text, accompanied with a goofy tourist smile and my fist pumped up in the air. The backdrop? A breathtaking view of the mountains, the gorgeous skyline, and the entirety of Los Angeles.Believe it or not, I live here. But to my delight, the Bikes and Hikes Sunset Tour reignited my love affair with with LA! It allowed me to experience my city through a new lens - a lens that my mind (and my camera roll) will never forget.Leading my hike was a handsome tour guide by the name of Solomon. He had an adorable Colombian accent and a killer sense of humor. OH! And speaking of killers - did you know that Colonel Griffith shot his wife in the head? She survived the assassination attempt and got a well-deserved divorce. Youll learn allll the details of this crazytown story and waaay way more during your hike! Somehow, Solomon will manage to give you a great workout, show you spectacular views, and shock you with an intricate history of Griffith Park & Hollywood!OK... now lets get down to the nitty gritty. If youre like me, you like to rock your cuteness wherever you go. Youll probably wear your cute shorts with a cute top and hope to scope out the cute celebs that may be around now that Runyon is closed. Just make sure that your cute sneakers have a good grip, because we definitely HIKE!Oooh. One more word of advice! Bring a camera! If youre a tourist and you walk around with a gigantic tourist camera - Im all hashtag yaaaaaaaas for you right now! It is SO worth it. The pictures youll take will blow your mind. Once you get to the top of the Mount Hollywood Trail, you may even tear up a bit - its kind of impossible to believe that something so beautiful exists until you see it in person. If you dont have a fancy schmancy camera - its all good. Just be sure to juice up your cell phone battery before the hike - youll want to put that smartphone camera to #werq!Theres so much more I could tell you, but I cant cheat you out of experiencing this on your own. Youll get to see mind-blowing views of nature in its purest form, have an impromptu history lesson, see the filming locations of some of your favorite movies (spoiler alert: Charlies Angels!!), AND burn off all the delicious Mexican food youve been eating! The San Gabriel Mountains, The Hollywood Sign, the Los Angeles Skyline and a Tighter Waist Line now all have something in common: theyre all fabulous perks of Bikes and Hikes LA!
Thank you Dan (DW). We had an amazing time with him. What was supposed to be a group tour turned out to be a personal tour and it was amazing. He took us to some great sites in Hollywood Hills and gave us lots of knowledge of LA. All around outstanding experience! Will definitely recommend this place and Dan to anyone.
The bike i rented was in very good condition. The support was not good. They dont provide a spare tube, you have to buy it, they dont provide backpack, you have to pay extra, they dont help you to adjust the saddle... I rented the bike for 24h, for 1 more hour, they wanted to pay extra for 24h.Generally, unfriendly and not helpful. This statement is 100% true, is written in order other customers to be aware of what to expect
Brought a Giant Roam 3 bike with my stimulus payment, fell asleep like a crackhead on a couch and the bike was gone.i cant realky complain cause the bike was really great. They were cool and confident in the bike i was sold. At first i disagreed but when i pushed the bike it really held up. No conplaints.
A man was following me down the sidewalk and I stepped into this establishment to seek refuge. I informed the woman at the front that I was being followed and moments later the man came in. She alerted her male coworker who told me I could step into their back room instead of remaining in their store front. He confronted the man forced him to leave. They gave me a water while I waiting for my Lyft to arrive. Greatly appreciated how they handled the situation and made my safety a priority in that moment.
Went in like usual to use the bike pump which was removed outside. Asked if there was a pump I could use inside to pump my bike, after having trouble pumping air into my bike. I asked if there was another pump or if I could get assistance. Was then told I would be charged $5 to get assistance. After my bike tired was completely flat due to pump. (I’ve been assisted the last two times I went in without anyone ever saying that there is a fee to get assistance.)

2022-03-20Great! I had a 5 hour tour with Eric and he was great! Being born and bred in LA Eric was very informative and told me all about the history of the city. The front desk and the rest of the staff were very helpful and nice. This was my first time riding a bike in over a year and my first time on a electric bike. We went to Beverly Hills, Culver City, West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Venice Beach and other places. It was about 30 miles and I was tired at the end and part of me were soar but I would do it again. I’m even considering purchasing an electric bike from the company. This is a great tour for anyone who wants to see LA and exercise while doing it.

2022-06-26Best bike tour I’ve ever had. Originally I thought that a 6 hour bike tour of LA was going to be too much (I’m 65) but man was I wrong. Our tour guide, Matt, made our tour both fun and interesting at the same time. He took us through places in LA that I’d never be able to see or experience unless I was on a bike. He spaced our stops throughout the tour to share some fun facts about different locations and give us a minute to get off the bike to stretch out a bit (or just hydrate). You can do this tour with a standard bike but I highly recommend you upgrade to an e-bike. The e-bike is easy to use and provides that extra kick that you may need on some of the hills. It’s also a great way to meet new people. We were fortunate enough to ride with Eline and Sarah from Belgium. They are world travelers and it was so good to hear their perspective on not only LA but the USA and several European countries that they have visited. All in all, this tour is 10.

2022-05-02A great way to see all of LA in 6 hours and avoid usual traffic issues! Will have to come back with my next visitors. Harris was an awesome guide: knowledgeable, experienced, caring (carried extra water bottles for the group and made sure we are OK regarding our bodily needs), communicable and friendly. Also, electric bikes are amazing! Need to get one now!

2022-04-08George was our guide and he was amazing! He was super attentive and had tons of personality, which made it fun yet safe! I had to stop a few times since I’m not used to these types of physical activities and George biked back to make sure I was ok and even gave me an electrolyte pack since it was very hot out. I made it to the end and even though I was exhausted and my body hurt, I’m glad I pushed my limits and saw everything I wanted to see and more!

2022-02-21I did the 6-hour LA tour and it was amazing. My tour guide, Erik Hines, was awesome with great stories, local history and fun anecdotes. I did use the e-bike and I never broke a sweat. Do the tour. You won’t regret it 🚴

2021-11-09Emily was our guide for the hike and we could not have asked a better experience. Her commentary was equal parts informative and humorous, and my boyfriend and I left with a greater appreciation for the LA area. There were also a couple of locals on the hike with us, and it was clear that even they were learning new things! We shared a ton of laughs and got some great suggestions for other stuff to do while in town. All around fantastic experience!

2022-07-02Went on the observatory hike on July 2 with Eric M. It was a fantastic time and he perfectly paced the hike with people of multiple skill and fitness levels. Very entertaining hike with the stories of the Hollywood sign, and the man behind the gryffith observatory. Would gladly go again the next time in LA

2021-10-24Great customer services! The bikes were on great shape! They have parking there so it was convenient , I got the bikes there and go to the Hollywood area, west Hollywood, all the way to Beverly Hills sign through sunset strip. Then we go the Grove to get some food on the farmers market and back to drop off the bikes. We did it by ourselves but you can also go with the group, probably will be safer finding back roads :) anyway great experience!!
