Its good if you want magic cards, comics, and board games but otherwise they hardly have any manga, Yu GI oh cards, or pokemon. Plan deck boxes. Also now with how the owner has responded to me. Ill make sure not to come back here. Also they are very rude. They make you feel rushed and stupid when you come in for something specific but they dont have what their own reviews say they carry
The store is well-organized and has a good-sized selection of comics, graphic novels, and games. The staff really knows their stuff and can guide you to almost any genre. Their second-hand comics section is impressive and varied. In my 35 years of buying comics and graphic novels, including my favorite stores in the Bay Area, Portland, and Seattle, this is my favorite store ever!
I love this store. For such a small space, they really cram in a lot of inventory. From current comics to back issues and even anthologies. They also have the best selection of board games anywhere in the area. I went in looking for something I never expected to find. Volume one of Jojos bizarre adventure. As my luck would have it, they had one left in stock! Could not believe it. Im hoping they get the whole series in but until that day, I will continue to stop by for everything from dnd dice to collectable. Also, if its your thing, they have a huge game room for playing like dnd and Magic the gathering and I believe they even have tournaments. Awesome place!
Been going here since I was a kid, they have moved a few times since when I started going, the same two or three guys have been working there for as long as I can remember which has always been nice, even though I’ve always wanted a job there. Amazing selection of wizards of the coast and games workshop items along with much much more.
Took my niece here because she wanted to start reading some Marvel comics. The store was very clean and organized and had a large supply of comics. The staff was very nice and knowledgeable and helped us find the perfect starter comics. Will definitely be going back here again.
Ive lived in a few places in California and Pennsylvania, and Big Brother Comics is by far my favorite comic book store. They take wonderful care of all of their comics, and their clearance rack has some great finds. Instead of giving my business to Amazon, I am happy to give you such a wonderful business.
Great shop and organized really for the graphic novel or anthology sets. Im looking for back issues and those were not easily/readily available. TONS of games and cards. If you are not hunting single issues, this is a great shop for novels, cards, and table games, for sure.
There is a huge selection of board games, trading card games, comics and figurines, I find it hard coming out of the shop spending less than $100 :D.The selection can sometimes be overwhelming, so if youre ever not certain what you are looking for or need help finding a specific game, just ask.The folks at big brother are great, all the guys have really great knowledge about their board game selection and what they dont know, they are willing to help find out.
This place is great pre-pandemic it was the best event store for magic the gathering and post-pandemic its still a great brick and mortor. The staff are super well knowledged in comics table top games and trading card games and theyre super friendly. If youre here for just their mtg review they use Card Kingdom pricing so dont complain when buying at a higher price because that means they buy from you at a high price for singles. P.S. You the man Kenny!!
Its wonderful to have a local game store that has it all! Comics, board games and collectible card games to name a few. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and will go out of their way to help you.I typically buy MTG singles, which you can have them pull ahead of time by emailing them your list or sending it via Facebook messenger, and they are always happy to help.Support this local gem, so when Covid is over, we can get back to the Gathering! 🤣♥️
This place is awesome. I had such an amazing experience for my first time visiting this local comic book shop. The staff was extremely friendly and extremely knowledgeable. This is my new go to spot for comics. They have a huge selection of comics and the store is super clean
Quality store. Maybe not the best place to try and sell your collections, but they certainly carry a vide variety of games and comics that make great gifts for anyone interested in such things. They also host MTG nights. Worth a look! Friendly staff if treated with kindness.
Big brothers has an amazing selection of board games and tabletop games. They help support the growth of the greater community with a decent table space in the back for card games, board game nights, or for tabletop RPGs. The staff are up to the times in the sense that many other comic stores feel like they never left the 90s. A growing selection of manga and plenty of dice and sleeves to choose from. Their MTG collection is always cycling through and can always find what you need for a manageable price.
Came with a friend to peruse board games. They have a really good selection, but as a counter point they dont really have enough space so it feels kind of cramped and its hard to see some of the games. The pricing isnt bad, but it is a bit more expensive than ordering from Amazon (in the neighborhood of 5-10 percent).
Great selection of comics and board games, even a range of old and newer video games. I went here to sell my old NES and collection of games but the owner needs to be there for that. If you plan to sell your old games to them, call ahead of time to make sure the appropriate staff are on hand to intake your items.
I wandered into this spot to buy some comics for my son. I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to comic books but I did have some knowledge as to what my son liked. I wanted to buy him something really nice as a gift and the staff helped me chose something in my budget and sure enough it was something my son loved. I never imagined how big this world was until I went to this store and saw the amazing history and enthusiasm from the people who worked there and we shopping. Thank you to the staff for helping me hit a home run on a great gift from my son.
So last time I went it was free comic book day. We were in town because the wife had a meeting, so me and the kids (8 & 10) decided to check it out and get some free books. I think we ended up spending $150 on stuff. They have a great selection my kids each got comics that were age appropriate (which the staff even had Input on) I picked some up for myself too. Also they have a tremendous boardgame selection! I ended up leaving with 2 new games that Ive been looking for and with prices comparable to Amazon but I get that warm fuzzy feeling knowing Im supporting a local shop. Definitely stop here if you are on the hunt for anything geek.
Great card selection and trade-in policy for store credit. (Magic player here) One of the nicer shops in the Sac area without having to head all the way out to Roseville and whatnot. Theyre downtown, which offers the occasional parking challenge. That can be offset by having lots of nice little restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance if you want to make an afternoon of it. Beautiful location.
This store just got itself a loyal customer due to their exceptional customer service!I recently called the shop looking for a board game thats pretty much sold out all over NorCal. Like every other store I had called that day they checked their inventory and stated they didnt have a copy in stock. BUT this store went above and beyond by asking me for my email address so they could get get in contact with me after checking with all their distributors to see if they could find a copy. Within the hour they emailed me that they hadnt had any luck finding a copy as the game vendor hadnt printed many copies for their first print.NOW heres where they REALLY went above and beyond: The following week, after first contacting them, they emailed me saying a distributor had found a copy and that it was up front at the desk for me to pick up if I still wanted it! They could have easily put this copy out to for sale and sold it within a day (due to the high demand for this game), but instead they set it aside for me to pick up!This is the type of service you are used to getting for being a loyal customer, but this store knows how to treat every customer like they are one! This will definitely be my go-to place for picking up board games! Please support this local brick and mortar store (FLGS).Side notes: Street parking was easy to find on a busy evening. Store looks exceptionally organized and the employees are super helpful in answering any questions you may have!
Will go back again and hopefully be able to update-The selection is good and its large, and the prices are FANTASTIC! Only a couple dollars more than Amazon usually (at least on the board games) and you get the instant satisfaction, so thats great. Why only 3 stars? So, I get it was D&D game night, but we just felt like no one really cared about us being there. Whoever was running the register, wish I had gotten his name, really did not seem to care at all. In fact, one of the people playing D&D had to alert him that someone (me) was trying to make a purchase, and he just sorta grumbled and sauntered up to the counter, no humor, no smile, did the transaction, and walked back around to play on his phone some more. Sure, it was after 9, his shift would be over soon, but really? At least try to do your job. And I forgot my purchase at the counter, and when I ran back in he didnt even look up from his phone- same thing when we first entered. Shouldnt you greet customers as they enter the establishment?Anyway, Ill go back again and will hopefully be able to update this with a more positive review.
Big Brother Comics has a great selection of comics and graphic novels, all well organized. They also have a huge selection of board games, RPGs, and accessories. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. If they dont have something they will order it, or tell you where you can find it.
This shop rocks. Had a saver here for a bit now. Super friendly staff. Mostly new singles and TONS of trades. When I mentioned a game I was interested in, they ordered it without me even asking them to do so explicitly. Obviously I was pleasantly surprised to see when I came in and picked it up at a fair price.
Amazing comic book, collectible toy, and card game store. It doesnt get more locally owned or knowledgeable than this.Kenny and his staff are all very friendly, helpful and informative when you need to know whats the latest in comics or what is hot in Magic the Gathering.Due to unfortunate circumstances, this place had to relocate from their previous location on J and 19th or so to its current place roght next to Tank House on J and 20th.Reasonable prices, weekly Magic tournaments and officially sanctioned events, and one of the largest selections in Northern California make this THE go to shop for all your nerdy needs!
Stopped taking cash or even credit cards after covid only 4th party apps which basically results in gouging. The owner Kenny told me himself that I had to use venmo or Apple pay or something like that when I said I dont have those products he age shamed me asked me if I knew how to use a smartphone which was really ridiculous because we were talking on Instagram which you can only do with the smartphone i reported it to the Boe so maybe thats why they stopped.
I used to live in Midtown Sacramento, but I had never visited this store before. All I can say is WOW! I just popped in looking for a copy of Rat Queens, but they were sold out. That being said (or written), I browsed the rest of the store for a bit, and found much to be excited about. This store has a clean, well-lit, orderly appearance. Not jumbled or haphazard in any way. I enjoyed the way the books were organized by publisher (for TPBs) and current issues were organized alphabetically and bagged. Staff Picks were up by the register and reflected a good knowledge of current books for adults (like Saga).Great titles, well-organized, and a friendly atmosphere. This store has it all.
Ive been to their previous location multiple times and have recently checked out the new one. As a member of the magic community I was sad to hear about the previous locations unfortunate fire. But this new location is freaking awesome. Love the new layout. The staff is always great and the prices always make me feel like Im getting a great deal.
As I walk in to the The card shop I was expecting baseball or football and exedra but instead I got Marvel and magic and pokemon even so the gentleman behind the counter was very helpful I was looking for some card sleeves and some hard cases and he directed me write to us as we sat and discussed for a while about the cards he was very helpful and I wont be making many more visits to this store
This place is very small and cramped and very cumbersome when playing in a big event like a Magic GPT. The staff overall are nice, but the spacing is definitely and issue with no ventilation. They definitely have a ton of comics, so if you are looking for comics and in the downtown area, I would imagine this is the place to go.
This is the cream of the crop right here. You will not find a more knowledgeable staff in Magic the Gathering and they have a vast array of comics ranging from old to new. Probably one of the best displayed Case selections, and case set ups youre ever gonna find. A true gem... Maybe the 10th card of the Power 9 should be called Big Brother.

2022-04-22Cool shop. They have great displays and a huge stock. They sell comics (mostly current with a few boxes of back issues.) A ton of graphic novels. Games. Game statuettes or game pieces. They have a decent selection of vintage toys and also cards for people who play those games. I honestly dont know much about card games so I dont know how good their selection was, but their graphic novels and hard cover books is very good. They dont have any high end or graded comics, which is what I was looking for so that was a bummer, but Im sure this store is for a different kind of customer. All in all, cool shop.

2022-01-28Just a few short weeks ago I had no interest in MTG but this shop has made learning and buying easy. I love when I can go into a place, tell them I know nothing about a subject and instead of talking down me, they are truly excited to show me around. This should be everyones FIRST stop for cards and boardgames. Oh yeah, boardgames, they have a ton and also love talking about them and giving advice! They also have a ton of comics and related gifts but Im not well versed on that.

2022-03-16Just wanted to give some major props to Cards and Comics on Geary! The owners and staff were incredibly friendly and helpful after I purchased a toy that ended up being defective in the box, working with me as much as possible on the price. That, and the fact that the store is just spilling over with comic and toy awesomeness, nets them a great review in my book. Thanks C&C! Cant wait to be in SF again shopping at this store.

2022-02-20Super knowledgeable, very helpful staff. Good selection of comics, board games, etc. Great place to visit. They have a couple back rooms for magic and DND i believe and the front glass display is hundreds of specific MTG cards.

2022-03-21(See pics) Review #1176. Cute local comic book store with a tiny bright art gallery at the back. They carry a good selection of American comic books, some hardcover special collections, and some upcoming cartoon series. They also have a small shelf of rental.Like the fact that they give you an up and coming comic first edition that you get 10% off when you bring it back on your next visit.

2022-02-17Our favorite game shop in all the land! We love that they are open late. We love the stock of games that they keep and the recommendations they give.
