The front staff was so accomidati g. I was checked intk a regular room and wasnt able to use the slower due to just having major surgery on my chest and couldnt get wet in some areas. They were amazing and moved me into an Ada room. The shower felt amazing. The breakfast was a decent breakfast for a continental breakfast. The beds are alsonvery comfortable. Pool was still open, just too chilly out to try it. Thank you best western!!!!
Nice Hotel, recently renovated. The beds were too soft for me (I like a firmer mattress) but it was clean. Pool is currently not filled (12-24-18) so call to check if you are a die-hard winter swimmer. The Breakfast says continental but they had eggs, waffles, sausage, bacon and was excellent. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The main thing that bothered me was the sink was not behind the same door as the toilet/shower. Front desk said all the rooms have this same layout.
This is a great place to stay, and a great value. The hotel layout is a little unusual - you park underneath and check in at a tiny lobby on the same level, then all the rooms are above as well as a pool! The hallways were immaculate, and so was my room which was recently remodeled. The decor was very stylish and well done. The bed was extremely comfortable and I had an excellent nights sleep. There is a restaurant next door that serves lunch and dinner, but is mostly a bar - food was good and the place was very lively with locals during happy hour. I will definitely stay here on my next trip to Sacramento. The staff was polite and helpful, as you would expect at any Best Western Plus.
It had very nice clean rooms. They were plenty spacious for my family. The breakfast was great! Ive never had such good biscuits and gravy at a hotel before. The down side was that it was dated especially the elevator whos permit had run out. And in addition to the elevator inspection being old the lights were off in the elevator most of the time I was there.
We were so pleasantly surprised! Its in a bit of an odd place but when we checked in and got to our room, it was beautiful! Theyve take an average, run of the mill hotel and turned it into a beautiful boutique! Our room had a lovely patio door that lead straight to the pool. We didnt get to use the pool but the view was very nice! The front desk was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!
Great balance of price and proximity to the Convention Center. Blue Prynt, the restaurant next door also had a great deal with the hotel where we were able to charge our meal to our room at a significant discount. Rooms were very nice and spacious, and the complementary breakfast was better than average. And last, the staff was super nice and very friendly. Excellent, excellent staff! Only two reasons I cant give this stay a 5 star review are: first, the place is being remodeled, so some of the hallways have the typical smell of paint and chemicals. This will likely be fixed before we are in the area again. Second, and unlikely to be fixed, is the lack of parking. Since the hotel shares a small parking lot with the restaurant next door, when we came back late one night, there was no parking remaining. Unfortunately, due to the location, I dont think this can be fixed, but it is definitely issue. But honestly, if a small parking lot is the worst problem - Ill absolutely stay here again!
The room and beds were comfortable. The staff was nice and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. Good variety and options. The staff in the breakfast area was really nice and worked hard, to be commended. Overall it was a good stay. It was just for one night, but I would stay multiple nights if I needed to. I would stay here again.
Very conveniently located, just blocks from the State House. Easily reached from the Amtrak station. The rooms were very nice, with obvious upgrades compared to other hotels. The outdoor pool area looked inviting, but the weather was too chilly to try it out. Breakfast was good with an adequate variety to meet any needs. I have stayed here twice, and will, again, if I am in Sacramento
This was a little gem of a find. Starting from the lobby to the rooms..very nice! Price was spot on as well, location close to everything! We were pleasantly surprised with the restaurant. I have food allergies, and servers and chef made sure I was safe with my choices. I ended up trying something new I had never had before. Their grilled roasted salad was the plate to beat at our table..everyone at my table tried and loved, wished they would have ordered it. It was outstanding!! Big thanks to Brian, he is a doll and pleasantly hilarious. He genuinely cared about our service and needs:)
The room is nice, and everything is clean. Breakfast being included is great. Fill upon as much as you can. Only issue I had was because outside the hotel room door was outside and so the heater kept going off at night which kept me up sometimes. Great safe parking. It didnt feel safe to walk ark under the area at night.
Negatives: I purchased a non-refundable room from the website, with swimming being a high priority for myself and guest. Nobody informed us that the pool was drained, nobody apologized or said I could get a discount. Just very disappointing. Also. The shower had exposed paint/plaster above it. And the back stairs had all sorts of dirty garbage/storage piled at bottom landing. I was concerned about walking past it in case a rat was there. Also bed didn’t have quilt — I suppose I could have turned on heat, but I’ve never stayed anywhere that didn’t have a bedspread. I ended up laying our coats on top of the blanket.Positives: it seemed clean enough otherwise, the internet was fast, the iron/coffee maker/hair dryer all worked. Nice location.I won’t be going back.
We loved how close the hotel was to many sites and restaurants, we were able to walk to almost all of our events. The breakfast was good, no one however offered us room service for breakfast like advertised online. The internet worked beautifully and there was plenty of covered parking. Our room was very clean and spacious. However we were given and adjoining room and we could hear everything in our neighbors room as I am sure they could hear us. We also could hear everyone in the open hallway. I think they need to do something to make the rooms more sound proof.I would stay there again but make sure to not have an adjoining room and to get a room on level 1.
Check in an check out were so professional and the lady we checked out with was extremely nice. I was very happy with our room. Some of the sodas we wanted from the machine were sold out but there was enough choice we still got something we wanted. I forgot to mention the vending machine. I was also very pleased with the breakfast provided. I will be back with my family at some point and most definitely in two years or so when i pick loved ones up from the airport before a long trek back north with them. Thank you.
This was a lovely stay. The staff were all friendly and courteous. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. There was a mini fridge and microwave. The breakfast had cooked items like scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage along with fresh waffles that you make yourself to go with fresh berries and whip cream. Theres a small swimming pool but I didnt get a chance to use it. And lastly, they have a deal with the restaurant next door, Blue Prynt, if you bill to the room, you get 50% off the food, not drinks though. The food was decent. If I go up to Sacramento again, I will definitely book at Best Western Plus Sutter House again.
This hotel was perfect for my needs. Staff was very friendly and helpful, (especially Darlene). Rooms were fairly clean, parking was provided at the hotel and I could walk to my conference. The hotel is not far from the capitol and many historic buildings. There was a hot breakfast available along with many other items.
Mixed experience. The rooms were nice (though the sheets were stained) and breakfast was good, and they were accommodating if a large groups baggage requests. But the check in process for a group was very disorganized. We had multiple problems because three different people from the front desk gave incorrect information and kept not giving the property forms to the next person. It finally got resolved by check out but its was very frustrating to keep being told it was taken care of and then have it be not resolved again. I wouldnt actively avoid staying there again but I wouldnt go there right away because if all the check in problems multiple groups experienced.
We stayed here for a state poetry competition and the room was booked for us as part of a large group. The room was clean and nice, though the bathroom door was a little off kilter and didnt close all the way. The building is in a nice central location, though the way it is set up does make it feel like a maze. The staff was friendly and bent over backwards to help us out and get us checked in on time and let us all park even after check out. A nice place to stay in downtown Sacramento.
As far as the hotel goes it is decent. I’m writing to complain about misplaced priorities. I acknowledge the transgression of parking in the “manager’s” parking spot. I arrived late and didn’t even think about it. But is it necessary to wake a paying guest ($200) at 0520 because the manager will be upset and have my car towed (for the record there are plenty of parking spaces). And to top it off the manager was late getting to work (the only reason I know is because I wished to speak with them and express my displeasure). I did finally speak to them and I only received a contemptuous response. As I said, misplaced priorities. I would have liked to actually sleep that extra hour. But I’m glad that they could park 5 feet closer to the door.
The staff was so friendly and helpful. Assisted us with a meeting room so our large family could sit and visit without affecting other guest. The rooms are very well appointed and clean. Good covered parking. Excellence choose for our family. I would highly recommend.
Great place to stay! The rooms are very nice, elegant, super clean. They are so beautiful and well decorated, they really exceeded our expectations. The staff at the front desk is very helpful and go the extra mile to help you and make you feel at home.I totally recommend this hotel. In my opinion is great and the price is very reasonable. I would definitely return there if I had to stay in Sacramento again.
Odd smell greeted us when we unlocked the door. Pillows could have doubled for pancakes. Dust on headboard. Bathroom door wouldnt shut right. Front desk staff informed us that the adjacent restaurant had been abandoned and closed for years but when I asked for suggestions of some other places close-by to eat she said I dont know. No joke. Choose a different hotel.
Great experience at this Best Western! I was able to walk to my training sessions on Capital Mall, as well as to Old Sacramento! There so many great restaurants in walking distance from the hotel and the breakfast was great! I arrived on Tuesday midday, and did not get into my car until it was time to leave Sacramento and had a great time all three days! The staff was really nice and the windows open for fresh air inside the hotel!Love this place and my visit and will return
The location is great - short walk to center of town, but the hotel itself is pretty run down. Housekeeping tried to come in early even though we had do not disturb sign out. It checks all the boxes for features youd expect but the quality is lacking in all of the details. So overall just OK.
Clean, older charm, updated and well kept. Every single staff member here was beyond helpful and friendly, and really made the stay everything it should have been! Rooms had nice view of the patio and pool, and withing walking distance to nearby attractions. Great experience, would definitely return.
The Lady and I love Sacramento so we are always on the lookout for cool places to stay when we drive over there for weekend trips. This place was great! Full continental breakfast, wifi, parking, restaurant/bar on site, exercise room, pool, the works! We paid $352 for two nights and the location was perfect for what we wanted to do. The Arden Fair mall and Dimple Records are four miles away and the convention center is just two blocks away; great for a nice walk when visiting for a convention. The room was clean, the bed was excellent, and we were not bothered at all by noise. The staff were great at finding us a quiet room as well since we asked for that accommodation. Some people are discouraged by the location as it is near downtown. For those of us who are not bothered by the nightlife near a downtown center, this place should work out great for you. If you are bothered by this, just make sure you are back before dark as it can get a bit sketchy.
Accommodations were very good! The room was clean and the bed was very cozy and comfortable! The hotel and restaurant staff were professional and friendly. The restaurant and lounge provided good food and drinks. Complementary breakfast was very good too! Would definitely stay here again. Thank you very much.
We stayed here for SacAnime. The location is within a walking distance to the convention center. Parking is free. The room is nice and a good size. It comes with a mini fridge and microwave, very convenient. The bathroom was really clean! The breakfast was adequate; it was free, so no complaints. The staff was very friendly. We were able to check in early, and on the day of check-out they let us leave the car there until the afternoon. Very friendly staff! We recommend it.
The breakfast was amazing! There were so many choices! Everything was fresh, hot and delicious! There were eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, waffles with fresh strawberries or blueberries, bagels, danish doughnuts, fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee, orange juice, hot chocolate. It was the best breakfast I have ever had at a hotel! We want to go back and stay just for the breakfast! The hotel room was very clean and I loved that the bathroom had q-tips and even a shower cap (since I forgot mine at home) The coffee maker was great, and there was a microwave and fridge. We loved it and will definitely be coming back! The front desk lady was nice and funny and remembered us every time we would walk in. She made our stay even better!
Customer service was amazing! Every staff member I interacted with was friendly, helpful, and more than willing to go above and beyond. The location is walking distance to the Capitol and lots of restaurants and venues in the area. Breakfast had more options than usual. Overall, its a great choice for business or vacation.
I have strong mixed feelings of this particular place. On one hand the staff was very helpful and nice. I booked my room through my work which somehow forced me into a room they didnt have available. The room I ended up in seemed nice and cozy at first but soon after getting settled I noticed a hole above the shower roof that creeped me out. I covered it with a towel and was greeted by a roach of some sort a few moments later. It wasnt much of a big deal to me. But I thought Id let others be aware. Like I said the place is nice. Just... keep an eye out.
Solid small hotel with clean and spacious rooms. The toiletries were simple yet good quality. There were plenty of pillows and towels without having to ask for extra. The continental breakfast included eggs, bacon, sausage and make your own waffle bar, cereal and yogurt bar. The coffe was pretty good. This place is pretty close to civic center but its far enough that it wasnt too skeevy. There are places to eat within walking distance. Very hospitable and helpful staff. The only downside is the AC which was a little loud and there was some humidity in the air when I stayed in the summer. This is my second stay and during winter the pool was being cleaned out so it was pretty yucky looking.
We have stayed at this hotel twice. They are pet friendly which is a plus for us. Yvette was very accommodating and remember us from last time and that was over a year ago. Its quiet and clean. Its also within walking distance to many great features of downtown Sacramento. This is our go to place to stay when we need to visit Sacramento.
This property is beautiful, I loved the decor in the rooms. It is conveniently located to the Basilica. However, my bed was uncomfortable and there was no lobby restroom or a restroom near the breakfast area, only the restroom in our room. I checked out before we went to Mass and when we walked back to the car to leave, I could not use a hotel restroom before our long drive and there was nothing else convenient around to use.
I have stayed at this hotel too many times to count! It is convenient to my business meetings and to visit the Capitol when I need to. I dont have to worry about my truck since I can leave it in their parking garage while Im at my meetings. The rooms are well maintained, clean and the showers have great water pressure. I do use the pool occasionally and it has always been clean!
The room was clean and the lady that worked at the desk was nice. She wasnt too sure about discounts but I think she gave me one. The fitness room is small but useful. And theirs a pool in the middle. 💁 Other than the junkie that walked in behind me it was a fine experience.
Hotel staff was very friendly. Room had a bit musty smell but overall room was comfortable. AC was extremely noisy that woke me up couple of times and made it hard to go back to sleep. Bathtub was old and beaten down - but what to expect from an Inn. Warm Breakfast was nice! distance to state capitol was nice. Plenty of parking but very tight parking spots.
Very nice hotel with a particularly good location, only a couple of minutes away from the main street. The continental breakfast, which is included, was much more than Id have expected : a great variety to choose from (only plastic plates though!), I was positively surprised!:-) the staff was nice, the room spacious & clean. Would come back!
Great Hotel. Very close to the old town and the river. Excellent value and very clean and well appointed room. Best Western the best hotel chain in the world Bar None.I will be staying again when i return to Sacramento for sure. You must visit the old town very nice to see the old railroad and river boats.
As a business location in the heart of Sacramento, The Best Western Sutter House was ideal. Very comfortable rooms. Parking available! Walking distant to Capitol and wonderful restaurants. To top it off, Front Desk Service was on top of everything: from restaurant recommendations to lovely walks about town. This was a business trip; cant wait to bring my family!
I thought plus meant better than other best westerns, and I thought 3 star hotel meant something a lot better than this. Junkiest place Ive stayed since college. Room smelled like something gross covered up by cleaning product, maintenance needed (outlets broken), lumpy pillows, junky feel with old carpets and faded (and weird to begin with) curtains, a beat up pocket door for the bathroom that would have been really cheap when it as purchased decades ago, a curtain where a closet door should be. Beds are comfortable enough other than pillows, room is clean enough other than the smell, and we havent even stayed a full night yet so the cheap looking shower might be fine, but no matter where it goes from here Im very disappointed given the plus designation and the rating. I might have stayed here on purpose and been fine with it for the price and location if it was listed as a 2-star regular best western, but thats not what I thought we were getting and I wouldnt have chosen it for this trip if I knew what we would be getting. Staff is friendly, but overall, its pretty disappointing.
This morning I was awoken to the TV playing uncomfortably loud in the next room before 9. I laid in bed for 20 minutes trying to go back to sleep, to no avail. Five minutes after getting up, I then hear the vaccum going off in the same room. The cleaning staff was hanging out in the room next door, playing the TV so loudly.whej I thought it was a guest, I decided not to call the front desk because its not their fault. Knowing it was their staff is just unprofessional and rude. My room is next to a string of rooms needing to be cleaned, so the least they could have done was chosen a room farther down the hall to watch TV. The pool has been closed for cleaning for 2 days, yet I havent seen a single staff member there. The front desk person was nice, but doesnt make up for the lumpy outdated bed and old pillows. For 30 dollars more you can stay at a nicer hotel.
This place Looks unassuming from the outside.but its actually quite comfortable inside the rooms were very clean and comfortable, grab and go breakfast, No restaurant on site as stated in advertisements,The pool was closed as well as the fitness room was closed ascwell, but there are vending machines available on site. They also charge you a $100 hold incidental rate, which is supposed to be returned in 3 days, quite an inconvenience.. otherwise a nice stay.
Stayed here many times. Ideally located. The rooms are clean and comfortable. A free breakfast is included. Fresh fruit and bagels are vegan. The front desk staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Parking is free and covered. Wheelchair accessible. Specially prepared handicapped rooms available.Nearby restaurants include almost every taste and diet. Close to many Federal and State agencies. The Capital building is a few short blocks away. Sacramentos Old Town is nearby as are many museums.
Excellent hotel! Definitely will stay again. Very accommodating, awesome breakfast, modern comfortable rooms. Awesome second story pool, very close to downtown. We took a walk and were at The K St area. 5 minutes and we were at the Capitol building! What a fun weekend!! I would say it a four star hotel!
Stayed for two nights for a wedding. Great hotel in a great location! The outdoor pool was surrounded by most of the rooms, with some having sliding glass doors right outside the pool. Hotel is a few blocks away from nightlife and good restaurants. I heard from a family member that the bar/restaurant right next to the hotel was a nice spot to have a beer and talk, but it closes at 10. Continental breakfast was delicious with attenative staff. There was a wide variety of food (yogurt, eggs, cereal, and of course the BW waffles), so that is definitely a plus. Great staff, too! We felt well taken care of but also not bothered.
Dont let the outside fool you - this is a great little spot. Nice location between Downtown and Midtown. The rooms are all clean, upgraded, and modern. The front desk staff always had a smile. Cant beat free breakfast, internet, and parking! The fitness center is a nice plus - though small, there is an elliptical, treadmill, and recumbent bike, so you can get a workout in. The breakfast offers more than one healthy option - yay!
BEDBUGS. Worn, noisy spring mattresses. Abandoned furniture stacked in parking areas. Cold/lukewarm low quality breakfast. Chemical sheen layer over pool surface visible from 2nd floor overlook.Front desk staff is either vauguely antisocial to friendly but unhelpful.Difficult to believe this is a Best Western Plus. Cleanliness issues with unchanged pillowcases. The hotel fridge worked great! Freezing everything.
I stayed here whole attending a conference at the convention centre. The location was good only having to take a few minute walk to get to the convention centre. The rooms were well kept. The continental breakfast was very reasonable and didnt end too early (930 am). I would stay there again
The website is misleading. The exterior and lobby is nice, once you get up to the rooms you realize its actually a motel not a hotel and is outdoors. Walls are paper thin and were awoken by loud kids in the hallway very early and it constantly sounded like people were having conversations right outside our room. We could hear the ENTIRE conversation. Not worth it for the money you pay a night (we paid $160) youre best off spending half the money and going to a motel 6 in my honest opinion.
The rooms were nice and clean. Wish they had checkout from the TV and the check in process was mediocre since we had this lady who was pretty rude to start until she found our reservation then she changed a little. This was in downtown and perfect since they have a parking lot and we were able to walk to most of our destination.
The best Wester Sutter house in Sacramento, Ca was great. In the heart of the city and close to everything. The Breakfast was great. Real Eggs and bacon as well as a whole bunch of other stuff. The room was clean and quiet. Easy parking right there under the hotel. So cars are safe. The people that run it are also super nice. Would stay there again in a heat beat.
Very clean; staff were very professional and helpful; maid had contagious smile - found my phone Id left on checking out and hurried to get it to me before I left; room was clean, very quiet - didnt hear anything or anybody; bed was comfortable; breakfast was good; easy & free parking; lobby was inviting and clean. Very close to many govt bldgs, tourists sites and UC Davis Hospital (10 min). Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.
Checked in today, front desk reception was good. Room clean and updated. Wifi works good, pool looks nice will go in tonight or tomorrow. Checked in early and they allowed us to have breakfast. Which was very good(fresh waffles, bacon, sausage, eggs and continetal stuff also). 3 kids and husband all enjoyed. Well see how rest of week goes.
First off I have to say, beside the fact the rooms are exceptionally cool for a Best Western, we could walk to the Golden One Center to see the Kings silence shhhhhhh... the Warriors fans. (Come on, why were there SO MANY Warriors fans at the game?!?!)The first person that greets us is Yvette, the evening manager, Im not sure shes the manager but she should actually OWN this hotel because her gracious attitude, people skills and cheerful demeanor is that of a Corporate owner of an establishment. The small but large detail I appreciate so much about her checking us into the hotel was there was a line out the door (a soccer convention?) and she not once , not twice but many times greeted each group of people and assured them shed get to them as fast as she could and THANK YOU for your patience. She did not get upset or troubled, just pure long-lost customer service. Id wait an hour to get checked if Yvette was waiting on us! The funny thing is the next morning when we checked out there was another extremely nice and personable man at the front desk, Jeremy. Im thinking now, WOW this Best Western really hires great people!!I asked Who is the wonderful woman that worked last evening?Oh, he says, thats my mother, Yvette.Enough said.
We were told at the desk there was no rooms available. We decided to move on to the next place but because it was early afternoon and the weekend we decided to try to book a room with a booking agent. As we are rewards members We requested any room at a Best Western with two beds in the area. The booking agent informed us there was a room at Sutter House. When we returned to the desk there were two clerks and there were several people in the lobby. One of the clerks said you were just here and now you have reservations. I informed her that we had booked the room through a agent. They started talking with each other load enough for everyone to hear. They said that we had taken the last room and one clerk was going to call the agent and let him know he cant do that. They made it sound as if we had done something wrong. We were embarrassed and I would not recommend this hotel.
Wonderful, courteous staff! Comfortable, quiet rooms! Free convenient parking with free electric vehicle charging available for our Chevy Bolt which we happily use! Easy walk to all restaurants, Convention Center, the Capitol! Will always stay here when we come to Sacramento!
We had a wonderful time in Sacramento, and it was mainly due to our stay at the Sutter house. We were with in walking distance of many sights. Old Sac/Golden1center/ many shops and eatareys. The staff was attentive and professional. The room was clean and quietThe breakfast was a treat.Outstanding overall experience.
Stayed here for a conference, room was reasonably priced in comparison to where the conference was actually held. Comfortable beds and pillows, it was quiet, and the staff were very friendly. Parking is free and the location was walking distance to capitol and old Town.
A very clean, comfortable and quiet room. Beds were comfortable, TV had many channels. The breakfast was one of the best. Choices included bacon, sausage, eggs, bisquites and gravy, breads and bagels, muffins, lots of fruit choice cask cereals, nuts and of course waffles. No reason to leave hungry at all.
The breakfast is very good. Rooms were quiet and comfortable. The location is excellent. We walked to the train station this morning. We walked to all the other sites as well including the farmers market, the capital, Sutters Fort, DOCO, and Old Town. I would recommend this place.
I cant comment on the rooms or amenities because the rude treatment we received from the reservation desk caused us to cancel our stay and switch to another more hospitable hotel! I spoke with the reservation clerk on the phone to ask the earliest time we could check in - we were in town for a wedding and didnt want to be late due to a 3:00p check-in time. She was so incredibly rude, kept talking over the top of me and would not let me get a word in at all! When I finally asked her to please let me talk, she became very snippy with me and put me on hold.... after a minute or two I realized she wasnt getting back on the line, so I hung up. I called another hotel who was far more hospitable and accomodated my needs very nicely. I would never book a room at Best Western and Sutter ever!
Everything was excellent .. from the decor of the room to the comfortable beds the variety of breakfast items to the very helpful welcoming staff. There was a bit of traffic noise to get used to though which is my only disatisfaction. All in all I highly recommend this place.
Stayed over the course of two nights while attending a convention. The room felt very clean, with only some of the wood hangers in the closet area showing some age. WiFi signal was strong in our room. One item to note was that our room fridge, though spacious, did not have a freezer area.
Absolutely love this hotel. The staff is incredibly warm and friendly, the rooms are a terrific value, and the amenities are top-notch, including a full breakfast, Internet connectivity, and incredibly comfortable rooms. I stay here every time I travel to Sacramento for business or pleasure, and will continue to do so.
Good, clean room, great service and the breakfast was a pleasant and tasty surprise. Got a better nights sleep than I usually get in more expensive hotels. The staff are professional and accommodating, I always feel so welcome when I return. My favorite place to stay in Sacramento.
My hotel room was next to the train station. All day and night, I could hear trains coming and going. I would even hear the train speakers from my room in the middle of the night. The hotel was also experiencing a remodel, so it constantly stunk like wet paint. Parking was free and the wifi was decent.
Bad experience!! A terrible smell in the lobby and worse in the room. It really did not matter to the receptionist.. we asked for someone to come to look at the issue and she simply moved us to another room worse where the screen of the window was torn. There was noise from the main road all night. For what we paid - not worth it!
Cheap and cheerful hotel with free parking in downtown Sacramento. Rooms are basic but clean, staff is friendly and helpful and theres an outdoor pool and fitness centre too.Its in a convenient location and right next door to the Blue Prynt restaurant and bar, where you get 50% off your meal if you bill it to your room.
A great hotel centrally located in downtown Sacramento, with a GREAT local breakfast icon (if you want more than the continental breakfast served at the hotel) directly across the street. Personable staff, love the pool that is secure and for the price, the hotel has my vote!
Best Western Plus Sutter House, 1100 H St, Sacramento, CA 95814 is the perfect place to stay should you have business or leisure activities planned for the downtown section of Sacramento. The facilities are in perfect condition and the staff is exemplary. The breakfast room is well designed and the choices and quality of the food was excellent. Downtown restaurants, state and federal government buildings; along with other entertainment facilities are within walking distance. I highly recommend this Best Western property for your lodging needs.
The room was musty and humid when I first walked in, despite the fact that the A/C was on and you enter from what is effectively outside (the hallways are open to the courtyard). The television, while large and HD, was blurry and poor quality. Several channels had no sound and there was more than one channel that didnt show at all. Expect to travel for meals and mostly everything else as this hotel only has only vending machines and RC brand soda. There is a restaurant in the parking lot but most of what we had there was sub-par and truly over-priced for the quality. This, to me, is a two-star hotel at best.
Dont stay here. Boutique is a rediculous way to describe this hotel. Old and experiencing a very long overdue remodel, so everything is closed. The rooms are smelly, hot, and just overall terrible. And now, the day after checkout I have discovered numerous bed bug bites!!! Yuk!!! I will never stay at another Best Western again...its obvious they do not care about the quality of their hotel rooms.
Worst hotel experience ever!Had a bunch of strangers try to get into our room at 1:30 am with the assistance of the staff! We were sound asleep, it was very scary thankfully the security latch on the door held. Staff were clueless and one of them, named Malachi, acted like we were somehow to, blame, no apologies whatsoever. Will avoid Best Western at all costs in the future,. If you want a good nights rest, you should as well.
Staff was extremely rude and definitely did not belong in customer service. Hotel was remodeling but nothing was listed on the website. They were resealing the concrete by the pool area and it had an awful chemical smell that filled the room. Listed free parking but nothing said about limited parking. Had to park accross the street in another businesss parking lot.
Stayed at Sutter House for a conference at the convention center. 5 minute walk to the convention center and close to many restaurants. Room was large and clean. Bathroom setup was very basic and needed updating. Continental breakfast was food and plentiful including eggs, bacon, sausage, and fresh fruit.
So far, so bad. They mishandled my reservation three times, and made my coworker wait while they reconfirmed my credit card through a fax process where they again got my number wrong. Hopefully the hotel is better than their reservation process. Be sure to get a confirmation of your reservation, since they didnt send it the first time, and had to ask three times and they had it wrong twice.
Stayed at this hotel before and although nice a will not be using it again. I tried to book a couple rooms here for my mothers surgery at a nearby hospital and they quoted me a price that as over $80 for each room more then other week nights. When I looked into why no one could give me a straight answer (called the manager and corporate). After doing a bit of research I learned that the particular day is the day most of the hospitals in the area schedule their surgeries. So I suspect that this hotel is price gouging due to patients that need to get a hotel near the hospital for early morning entry. Shame on you!!!
Nice comfortable room. Not so spacious but enough for me. Swimmimg pool was under construction (renovation of the whole patio, actually). Breakfast buffet wirh some fruit (apples, bananas,...), breakgast cereals, those things that resemble scrambled eggs, muffins,...). Parking right there (covered). Close many different places to go and have dinner and so on.
Room was OK, but not what I expected from a Best Western Plus. We made reservations, but when we arrived we were told we didnt and that there were no rooms available. But, they found a room in the hotel. Weird. Gate to the pool area was not locked. Watch your kiddos carefully.
Good place to stop for midtown convenience. Good size rooms, central courtyard, security, clean, extra firm beds (if you like that) excellent staff. The internet gets an average ok and the breakfast is typical. The location could not be better for a convention center area value.
Entire hotel was under construction. Called reservation and was not informed. We even confirmed it had a swimming pool only to find out after check in that the pool was under construction. Location is good but very noisy with a bar next door. Hotel was helpful in changing locations.
The temperature in Midtown Sacramento (nay, the entire Western United States) was horrific. It was 108 degrees on Friday and a paltry 104 degrees on Saturday. When we arrived, we thought it was strange that the doors were open in the lobby at 10:30PM at night on one of the three hottest nights for several years. Surely, we wouldnt be booking a room at regular rates for a hotel that doesnt have air conditioning. We got in the room and there was no air condition - throughout the hotel.Having already booked, entered, and still waiting for the AC to take hold, it became obvious that there was no air conditioning. By that time we were undressed and already falling asleep. Its outrageous that such a thing could occur - but mostly because the rooms were booked ***and no mention of the conditions of the HVAC were mentioned by lobby staff*** or anyone else. We would most certainly have moved on. Of course, when we called to reserve the room a few hours earlier, it wouldve been reasonable to be notified that the HVAC system was not functional. And we paid full freight. We are astounded by this circumstance and will be taking our business elsewhere. Quite possibly, this was the most inhospitable experience weve had in our lives - and we snow camp in remote, stormy environs.UPDATE:After learning of our experience, the senior management at this hotel comped the room. This was nice and appreciated. But it really should have started when we called for the reservation a few hours earlier (when it was already clear the HVAC was in complete failure from the day before and would continue in that condition for days more).
Nice hotel in Sacramento. Really good breakfast - do it yourself waffles, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage. Plus cold cereal, bagels, muffins, yogurt and other breakfast pastries. OJ, Apple juice, coffee, tea. On the same property, a delicious restaurant for your lunch and dinner pleasure (except Sundays). Free wifi. Fridge and microwave in each room.
BW Sutter House is my favorite place to stay in Sacramento. The staff are always friendly, the rooms are always clean, and my experiences have always been positive. Its conveniently located within walking distance of downtown Sacramento and the price is affordable. Highly recommend!
Sutter House is a truly great place to stay in Sacramento. The accommodations are excellent, the staff are helpful and professional. Its location cant be beat for access to the downtown and Capitol areas, and museums. I give my highest recommendation to Best Western Plus Sutter House.
Overall: Ideal location for a visit to downtown Sacramento.Plusses: Walking distance to downtown area and excellent staff.Opportunities: The hallways are tiled. So anyone that arrives late when your nodding off to sleep or leaves early an hour before your alarm goes off, will be clearly heard as they wheel their suitcase past your door and clacks on every groutline toward their room or elevator.
It was okay. Not what I’m used to with a BW+. It’s an ok BW. Location is good and parking is nice. Might consider staying there again because I earn points. But I would be open to a better experience somewhere else. Not that it was bad but it definitely didn’t feel like a BW+. I would rather pay $20 more and stay at a more astheticly pleasing place.
The front office staff were very friendly and helpful, the continental breakfast was good, but unfortunately, the heater was barely working in the room when we checked in. Luckily, the helpful front desk staff relocated us in another room in which the heater worked adequately.

2022-01-14They told me this place was closing down soon and was to be converted into housing for the homeless. Horrible room, bad neighborhood, no service… it was like Best Western was saving money on a losing proposition but their name is still on the product. I stay at Best Westerns all the time, never had a bad experience like this one. Best Western needs to get their name off this place fast.

2021-09-28The room is not bad but it reeks of deodorizer. The hostess checking us in was impatient, even though we were the only ones in the lobby. She also told us it was not safe to walk to the river front. And there is a homeless guy sleeping in the parking lot. I expected a lot more for $250 on a Monday.

2021-09-07This is a pretty quaint and cute property with a nice decor. The staff are all pretty friendly, and i like how close it is to the convention center. Theres also plenty to do in walking distance so you can save on parking. Overall, a great place to stay if you need a room in midtown, in my opinion

2021-05-12Its a nice property. Rooms are well kept. The only reason I didnt give it a 5 star was the oddness of it being a interior corridor property but its actually outside. The only view is of the pool so not being able to see downtown Sacramento kinda sucks. The bed is extremely comfortable as well as the pillows. I would recommend this property and probably will stay at this place again.

2020-11-22I was welcomed by a very friendly & helpful front desk clerk named Yvette. I had forgotten to print my Best Western gift card & she assisted me in using their computer for guest use to get it printed. I was a little stressed; I was preparing to take a really difficult state exam the next day and her extra care & service was just what I needed!!! Our room was very comfortable and spacious with a beautiful view of the pool & courtyard. Got a great nights sleep in a comfy bed!!! We really appreciated the secure parking garage in this homeless overrun area of Sacramento.

2021-05-25I tried to book the room directly on their website as a rewards member, but there was a glitch on their end and when I called to book the room directly over the phone, they would not honor the price I was being offered online. I told her not to book the room, but she did anyway unbeknownst to me. I never got a confirmation email, however when I eventually got through to a lovely lady at the Best Western 1-800 # to see if I could get the last minute rate, she noticed that I actually already had the room booked at the higher rate. I was shocked. She was nice enough to cancel it and rebook at the lower rate. However, before checking out of my room, I went on my bank app and saw that I was charged $100 more for two nights than was stated on the confirmation email. Apparently they charge you more money up front then credit the difference back at a later time as the charges are not yet finalized? Well see - just checked out today. When we arrived, we were greeted by gigantic rats. Unfortunately, the outside of the property in the bushes along the parking lot is infested with rats. I think this is a big concern that should be dealt with by the property owners/managers. We notified the front desk staff of the fact that they are running back and forth in and out of the bushes and across the lot, some very large and others babies. It seems that they have a pest control company that comes out once a month to take care of it, but there are babies and they grow so its a long-term nuisance. We could see them and we could hear them as we pulled in to check in and again every time we left and came back. The carpet in our room was old, grimy, and stained. The mattress was springy and tilted to one side. The fitted sheet kept coming off which exposed the mattress underneath. It was great that they offered a grab and go breakfast in lieu of covid, however it was the same content for both days - a bottled water, fruit cup, granola bar, and a bagged danish. The Best Western we stayed at in last month in Auburn offered scrambled egg/sausage between a muffin (that you can heat up with the room microwave), orange juice, yogurt, and oatmeal. I think it would be great if they could look into offering more choices. The pluses included...the evening staff member we corresponded with the most was very friendly and accommodating, parking was ample and free, and the room had amenities we appreciated such as a coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator (though it was loud), iron, ironing board, and hair dryer.

2021-02-27Awesome place! Really saved my wife and I from a fake 2 star hotel closer to the hospital. The staff actually greeted us by name when we came in!!! Even the pool, that was closed from covid, was clean! I maybe saw 1 leaf in it! Rooms were amazing, CLEAN, and the staff was great! These three fun grandma type women have been working together at that hotel for 30years! Thank you so much to them, their great hotel, and making our awful NICU reason for needing a hotel, just so much better. My wife and I were able to sleep, and even smile with them.

2021-09-19This place is not fancy but it is decent. Walking distance to the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center. Continental breakfast has a good selection. Place is clean and service was good. Recommend.

2021-11-29Does not justify the Plus in Best Western Plus, in my opinion: no proper breakfast was served; homeless encampment on the block right near the hotel; were able to provide only one extra blanket

2020-10-11On our tour of the west of the USA we were guest at this hotel. On our arrival, we were welcomed in a friendly manner by the staff. The room was very clean, spacious and absolutely met our ideas. Unfortunately, we didnt manage to use the great pool. The hotel was within walking distance of the surrounding restaurants and shopping facilities. Everythings perfect, well be happy to come again.
