What a lucky day! I didnt know which section to go to for books to send to my nephew. I looked around thinking I will leave empty handed but I crossed paths with a very knowledgeable rep. I wished I had asked for her name so I can mention her in this review. When stores have people who are knowledgeable about their products, the customers visit becomes a very good experience.Huge bookstore and plenty of space dedicated for childrens books. These are awesome books to inspire your young teenagers.
Big location nestled in the mall. Youll have to to outside to get here, as it is an outdoor mall. There is plenty of parking, BUT it is not necessarily close. Youre definitely going to have to walk here. Store is well-lit and organized nicely. Its a large location, but I dont think it has a Starbucks inside.
Alas.. one of the last standing bookstores.... I remember Dalton Books.. and Borders... but now Barnes and Noble stands alone in the cut throat business of books, young teens occupying tables without buying a drink, loiterers browsing books without buying.... how is a company to survive? But survive they have.... while their stock takes a beating... I do love B&N... now only if those darn teens would shut the Fup... and let me enjoy my cup of coffee....
Really neat location. Lots of variety with each bookshelf. Love the pop figures and bts collection. I was surprised to see such a wide selection of records. The thing that caught my eye was a small telescope in the childrens section and puzzles in the first floor near the entrance.
Out of all of the barnes and noble Ive been to, this one is absolutely the most alive.I have spent countless hours studying here since high school exploring all the recommendations and little things. There are numerous staff who always ask how youre doing and are happy to make recommendations. Unlike many locations, people seem happy to walk around, browse, and chat.
Good service. A lot of times I come here, I pass by the books in the front looking for mine, and then I find it, and then I find out it was in the front the entire time! 😂 Check the front just in case guys!Love the escalators, all the best Barnes and Nobles have them cafe is great, but maybe better pizza pretzels.Overall, it gives off a homey bookstore feeling that I like and I feel like I could spend my whole day in there.
Very large B&N. Difficult to find employees; they rely more on headsets than actual presence in the store. I wonder about their loss rate. Manager was kind to give a discount on a slightly damaged cookbook as no other copy was in-store. Cashier was friendly and helpful. Upstairs is where youll find the Starbucks, but its owned by B&N so forget using your gift cards or points, sadly. Very limited selection of foodstuffs, but nice workers and generous tables/chairs area for sipping & reading. Lots of teens & young people; nice, calm vibe.
Its a pretty typical Barnes and noble. A little smaller than some of the ones Ive been too, so the selection isnt quite as wide as bigger locations, but its still nice. They did have a weirdly large Manga section in comparison to other sections though so if you want to buy manga it seems like a pretty good location.
Overall good place, but needs some small improvements. Ive always loved visiting Barnes in the past, but this location lacked on variety of books and struggled to keep up with cleanliness in the store. They had someone at the door to regulate customer flow in the store which I loved. But the old school vibe of going in, relaxing and browsing a few books to buy is now gone. Everything felt rushed and no longer had a welcoming aura. I hope to return back in a few months to see if there has been any changes.
Two stories and packed full of all your favourite reading materials. Complete with a Starbucks on the 2nd floor where you can get a cup of Joe and read some of a book. Guess my only complaint would be they said their water fountains were not working.....and ofcourse the water fountains were right next to the StarBucks so no wonder they werent available, bwahaha
I am very much appreciative of their services. they worked with me even though I had little to no credit and was a first time buyer. the salesmen was kind enough to show us the inventory and explain what they were about. the whole process was timely. i didnt qualify for the first car I was interested in but they didnt give up and quickly found something else that I liked.
We All had a lovely time here! My grandprincess, son & wife. So much to look, love & pursue. However I must add that the Bathrooms were Worse than something you would find in a Bronx subway dtation. FILTHY AND WHEN WE COMPLAINED TO THE STARBUCKS LOCATED AT THE SAME FLOOR? Nothing. For this to be in such a highly populated IRVINE SPECTRUM? THEY NEED TO DO BETTER BECAUSE I WILL NOT BE BACK NOR SPEND A NICKLE HERE UNTIL THIS HAS CHANGED. So, as long as you do not need a restroom, buy tour books.
The choice of books is obviously vast. However the owners of Barnes and Noble are so extreme left wing that it almost hits you in the face at first glance. Just by their choice of books and what they choose to display is clearly favorable towards one particular party. Very Pro Liberal Anti Republican. An owners political stance should not be obvious in a bookstore and there should be pro and anti for both parties! But unfortunately it seems isnt that way in Barnes and Noble and it shows!.So for this reason alone, regardless of my political party affiliation to attempt to influence the buyer one way or another is a terrible shame and I wont be spending my money here again.
It was really nice the problem is that theyre not stuck up like they used to the items that I was looking for was a leather cover for my journal they used to sell them and varieties really awesome style now they dont but you do have to wear a mask did you have sanitizer and theres plenty of books to just sit and read and enjoy them so for those that love to read come on down enjoy it with a Starbucks
I drove all the way here from Upland because it was the only place that had the book I needed. The staff was friendly, made sure they had the book before I drove out there. They do answer calls which is a plus because a lot of places dont answer their phones. Yes there is a line to get in because of COVID but thats good, we have to take precautions. Theyre organized and go above and beyond
I went here with my crush. The store was a great place to talk and get to know someone. The book selection was also great and the vibe in the store was just as you would expect from a book store. The staff was mostly friendly and the coffee shop on the second floor was a nice touch. However, I felt as though I could not pick a book because of certain staff constantly walking past me as soon as I picked up a book.
Huge store with cafe. Went there for the Saturday story reading for kids. After the story was read, kids were given fun activity sheets. While the kids were busy explored nearby books and toy aisles. Theyve got dedicated aisles for different categories from ages to grades to STEM, reading, Disney character workbooks...Same in toys section. Particularly liked their toy aisle as it had a variety of learning toys, which I hadnt seen elsewhere. Ended buying some. It was my first time to the store and to their reading session too.
This bookstore is amazing. It has two floors so there are plenty of different things to look at and be interested in. I come here all the time just to kill time. It has, what I would consider to be, the biggest manga section I have ever seen. It even has a Starbucks. There is literally nothing to complain about. Everything stands out as great; from the organization to the quantity and quality if their selection. I love this bookstore, especially at this location and highly recommend going here in the future.
Always enjoy the atmosphere of Barnes and Noble. Great place to find something good to read. Also a nice spot to relax and kill some time as coffee shops are located within the store. They could use a few more chairs in the main section but otherwise a good experience
One of my favorite places to go! B & N is a showcase of colorful variety, with so many sections & showcases, there is something great for everyone! I love their selection of art books, graphic novels & how-to for writers & artists looking to improve their skill set! Friendly & helpful staff, always a huge plus!
Books. the cashier be lying tho, I got ohshc manga once and he said “I haven’t seen someone buy ohshc in a long time” and then I came back next week and got a few more ohshc manga and mf said the same thing, he lyin u just saw someone (me) buy it last week :(( I don’t like liars, james 🙄u forever dead to me
They are open and fully stocked but closed early like the rest of the shops unfortunately! I used to lol forward to buying kids toys for my nieces and nephews. They used to have great sales on toys. Covid has put an end to that!! There are books about the pandemic. Have we all not heard enough you think we need books to remind us what we are living through???
Still love finding a great book while browsing for good hardback childrens books. Staff always polite and helpful even though there dont seem to be enough personnel for the size of the store. Ive always loved bookstores and libraries and am so glad they didnt disappear like all the rest.
Whenever I visit this store, its like entering a magic world, and I stay for hours checking the books, enjoying a hot beverage from the on-prem Starbucks. I emerge renewed, inspired, and with a bagful of new titles I cant wait to get home to read! This is not only a book store... its an experience.
I found books I never knew existed, thanks to friendly, knowledgeable staff, at prices well below the suggested retail price. An added bonus—a coffee shop with all manner of veggie wraps, pasteries, cookies, and other goodies, where you can sit at one of several tables to pig out or read your email, magazines, and books. Couldn’t ask for more.
I can spend hours at a Barnes & Noble but unfortunately when I went the restrooms were out of service which meant sticking around for too long wouldnt have been a good time. Everything else was well stocked, clean and organized though and I did make a purchase. I hope next time I go the restrooms will be in service so I can spend more time browsing and sitting at the cafe.
This is a large scale Barnes and Noble store. While I have not been in the store in several months, they still offer books and magazines. Sometime in the recent past the store has taken out the benches and seats on the downstairs floor. General housekeeping has been decreased; the Audio section was pretty dusty, and the carpets are beginning to look threadbare.
I love the architecture of this place! I almost cried when I heard B&N was potentially closing its doors but Im glad this one is still here. Has a beautiful first floor collection of books and a Starbucks cafe upstairs. Very neatly organized with a lacking amount of staff.
Unfortunately it must have been a bad day in this deserted bookstore. We came in here after we celebrated a birthday, shopping for some new vinyls and other gifts. - We were experience a charming upsell to become a member. We did and received a minor discount and a free coffee/ hot chocolate. We asked if this would be good for all of us and she called up to the coffee shop, making us believe that we all will receive the cherry on top to make this day perfect. Once we arrived at the coffee shop, I placed the order for four (free) drinks, showed my receipt and we were waiting. - Now it happened, the manager came out, heat phone w/microphone still attached to the head, looking like coming out of a spin class, determine steps fast approaching with the index finger already up - that alone signaled trouble and no consideration. We learned quickly that there was a misunderstanding, but that word was never used. Rather rattling down company policy and creating a scene vs. figuring out what happened and offering a solution, which would compliment the free coffee in the first place, the appreciation of a customer spending their disposable income at the store and almost guaranteeing if continuing doing so since we had the membership. The only solution offered was we gladly can refund your membership...Unbelievable from every angle, no empathy, little customerservice skills rescuing a customer, supporting all the good training that manager must have skip, disrespecting all the good work everybody else did in that store. An unnecessary power move. Im for sure would feel very weired going back here. (BTW, in my several hundred reviews I can not recall given ever a 1 star review)
A nicely sized Barnes and Noble and can help to give yall a break when browsing the Irvine Spectrum Outlets. Not much to say about it as it is pretty much like all the other Barnes and Nobles Ive been to except that there is two stories and that there is a Starbucks on the second floor.
A nice book/novelty store inside the Spectrum Mall. The store was clean and well kept. Everyone was friendly, just didnt like that the Starbucks on the second floor was not a Starbucks but was a Barnes & Noble coffee shop disguised as a Starbucks, so you cannot use Starbucks gift cards or Starbucks App to pay.
I was expecting more from this Barnes and Noble. No seating, except in cafe. Cafe service was horrible, I ordered one drink and four orders were made before mine even though they ordered after me! Found what we were looking for, but the size of the store makes me question the availability of some books.
The person at the Starbucks Wes L does not ask for a Barnes and Nobles membership. I purchased twice that day. I mentioned to him that you should asked if the customer has membership so they can take advantage of some discount but, Wes L did not make a comment or apologize about it. I think Wes L needs more training for he may not know the process. It makes me feel embarrassed that I have to tell him to give my discount. I may never buy from this Barnes and Nobles again.
Great place to stop in and pick up a new book. Great selection of books to choose from. The sales staff there really know there stuff. And if thay dont havr what your looking for thay will be happy to order it for you.A great selection of magazines to choose from. There are alwayes sales on books from the classic to new. There are not to Manny places were one can go now to find such a collection of books in one place. I highly recommend going. You never know what you might find there in the book shelves Hidding.ThanksMichael M PhD.
This B&N is often severely understaffed and they have a very rude store manager - Tiffany I believe was her name (short bleached blond hair, heavy build, and mid height). The store itself is really nice and clean thanks to the staff. The coffee shop was clean and accommodating. The barista who served me (Heather - tall, dark hair, pail skin, slim build, wears glasses) made excellent drinks. She was polite, sweet and she served the best coffee Ive ever had (and I have had many). Its all in the barista who makes it.
This Barnes and nobles have a courteous staff who understand the things they are selling even things as mundane as manga being accounted for regarding availability and release schedule. Everything is organized and is a relaxing place to enjoy a coffee and a book upstairs.
Barns & Noble at Irvine Spectrum, the most uncourteous customer service by the store manager:Before Christmas, we were searching for specific books, but we could not locate them at the stores so we purchased them online from Barns & Noble. They were out of new ones, but the used books were described as clean and in good condition. Also, the website said that the books can be returned at their retail locations so it seemed safe to make the purchase. Unfortunately, 4 out of 6 were stained and filled with notes. A couple of days before Christmas, we went to return these 4 roughly used ones at the Irvine Spectrum location where we were greeted with a big surprise. At first, a floor manager told us we could not return online purchases at the store because the online store and the retail stores are two different companies and he did not work for the online company. We showed him a print out of their online return policy that clearly stated otherwise. Then he said we cannot return used books at the store. When we insisted he honor what the online policy stated, he would only offer the store credit. We preferred the refund so we asked for the person who has the authority to refund the money.Cindi, the store manager, walked up to us in a highly unexpected and surprisingly combative, unfriendly manner and declared I will not make return quite abruptly and discourteously with no pleasantries or greetings or offer of assistance. Then she forcefully told us to leave the store as she reached for a bag for the books we were trying to return. Her attitude and behavior was shocking. She never asked why we believed we were entitled to a refund or about the online return policy. It was apparent that she was uninformed and unwilling to be informed. She lead us to the Customer Service kiosk in the middle of the store. She threatened us to lower our voice as if we were making a scene even though we were not yelling, threatening or violent. We were only trying to convey to her what their website promised expecting her to honor it. She repeatedly and curtly declared that she wont make return. She was pompous, disrespectful, unyielding and unfriendly the entire time.We asked if the return shipping was free. She called the online customer service to ask. It was a long wait. I murmured, How long do we have to stand here and wait? and my husband pointed at the Customer Service sign above us and rhetorically asked What does that say? She got extremely offended and abruptly hung up the phone saying she was trying to help but we were being rude. Then she demanded we leave the store immediately. At this point, we realized that we could not accomplish anything further. We were in disbelief at her attitude and left the store in silent indignation and humiliation. To her, we were just a nuisance and an inconvenience. She was extremely rude and unpleasant, never apologetic about their misinformation and their internal miscommunication of return policy nor for our inconvenience. Not a single time did she smile or demonstrated any friendliness. She never showed any understanding or empathy. Instead, she kicked us out of the store. This was by far the worst and most mortifying service we have encountered at any store.
Love Barnes! It is the best location if you are looking for a comfy and warm or cold place to drink your warm espresso or cold brew, sit down, wait for a bit, pretend to be browsing books, and 30 minutes into your date not showing up, realize you got stood up, stand up and leave with your coffee colder than it was when you started (or warmer, if you had cold brew).
The main complaint is with the manager named Rich. He was transferred from the Newport Fashion Island store. What a totally unprofessional and downright creep.Followed me around like a stalker and harassed me at two stores. He clearly has serious mental issues and is a liability for the company.Better to shop at Amazon than have a four-eyed middle-aged creep stalking customers
Barnes and Noble‘s café is absolutely an utterly disgusting I would never go there and especially the one in the Irvine spectrum a gentleman who had plugs in his ears help me and he was the rudest person I have ever met I hope he gets fired because that that that is no way to treat a customer Barnes & Noble Café will never get my money again thank you
On April 26th We spent $82.02 one of the books we bought was missing chapters and had duplicate chapters I brought the book back today they would not exchange with out the credit card or receipt the book was only $7.99 so I just bought another a very sad customer....

2022-06-29You know this good book store deserves 5-stars!!They have a great selection of books and graphic novels of all genres, and even if they dont have that, you can order it at their help desk on the 1st floor! The 2nd floor has a escalator up to the top. You can find most of the romance novels, comic books, teen books, and childrens area up on the second floor. The childrens area has educational toys and books for young children along with a colorful paint job to make any kid feel at home.

2022-04-11This particular Barnes & Noble location is massive! Theres an escalator that leads up to the second floor. Inside, theres a little cafe featuring Starbucks coffee. There are plenty of places to peruse the books, with every possible section you can think of available at your fingertips. The staff is very friendly, and accommodating.

2022-03-30Dont even before the pandemic, the place lacks seats outside of the cafe. The cafe, even though it serves Starbucks coffee, it never compared to a cup you buy from an actual Starbucks place... The latte is always milky, even if I ask the barista to make it again.Lastly, the carpet is too in old and it always smells like socks in the kids area. They place needs a little more care, other than its a great place to cozy a little in book warmth.

2022-04-17Who doesnt love the feeling of exploring a book store. I never get tired of the discovery of finding something new to read. Barnes and Noble is not a quaint mom and pop store but its a great bookstore with a wonderful selection. They gave lots of stuff besides books too if books arent your thing.

2022-06-21The ambience is conducive to peaceful reading of books. The pictures of famous authors on the walls of Starbucks brings one nearer to the masterminds. I never miss an opportunity to visit this place.
