Five stars for the staff of Avis company, specifically for Amir! This guy knows his job very well, very friendly and helpful! Knows the way how to help every customer, gave the best deal relying on the price that I was able to afford it. Did he’s best to help me out, really appreciate that! if you renting a car from them definitely ask for Amir!
Sleazy and expensive. I would give this 0 stars if I could. This company uses predatory behavior. They are masters of manipulation, talking you into damage protection in-person when you already declined it online, making it seem like they are different things. This happened to me once before and I was able to get a refund, so I thought perhaps I would try them again. They also didnt have even remotely the type of car I signed up for. This company is also way more expensive than some other car rental companies.
My family of 6 took a trip to Oregon and Washington for our oldest cousins wedding and wasn’t so sure if we should drive or fly. But we checked out the adventure and the benefits of having a vehicle while down there so we drove. Avis was amazing! The online process of finding what we needed and booking it made me a little nervous. But once I got there to pickup the employees were great very friendly and helpful. The Chrysler Pacifica 2021 that we picked up fully loaded was just right for my family of 6 to hit the open road. Only problem is the Wi-Fi and some other stuff even having it for a week wasn’t free, so that was a little disappointing. But after a great week with family an amazing trip we made it home and decided to drop off early so there was no need to rush or worry the next day. The employee at the night drop she was funny, friendly and very nice after checking the vehicle in and checking on how my families trip went I left very happy overall and will definitely rent with them again.Thank you AvisThe Roberts Family
I booked my car rental through Costco Travel like I normally do and chose Avis due to having the specific vehicle type (a hybrid) I wanted for my trip to Sacramento. When I got to the rental counter, I was told my vehicle wasnt ready yet and it would be another 10-15 minutes. Unfortunately, that 15 minute wait turned into 2 hours. A combination of a lot of factors probably led to some sort of mixup when I was supposed to get the hybrid car I originally booked. I ended leaving the rental counter around 3 p.m. in a full-size vehicle instead. If I had known the wait would be that long, I would have just taken a substitute vehicle from the start. All the staff I interacted with at the Avis Preferred kiosk were very friendly and sympathetic to my wait times and Im going to accept this bad interaction as a one off due to the holiday weekend. Id be willing to give Avis another try if the situation warrants it.
Waited in line one hour for a car I reserved a week prior. Instead of using the chip reader for my card, agent swiped it twice causing it to be declined. Had to call in to get it authorized holding up the line for another 15 min. then agent blamed me/my card. Agent asked me if I wanted a Rav or a Camry. Picked Rav ended up with 4Runner that stinks like cigarettes, has useless windshield wipers, and is so out of alignment it is unsafe. How much longer are we going to blame poor service on the pandemic? I call shenanigans. At least the agent was genuinely pleasent.
My experience with Avis can be summed up in one word: unacceptable. When I reserved my van I made certain to call multiple times to confirm it would a transit. I even reserved way early because of this need. I was reassured that getting a transit would not be a problem at SMF. I requested a transit because we wanted a comfortable ride for our family vacation. I could have chosen Cruise America, but I went with Avis instead. That was a mistake.I was given a Chevy cargo van. When I inspected the van I found a screw in the tire. When I told the car attendant he proceeded to tell me it would be fine on my 3000 mile trip and tried to pry it out with a key. Unacceptable. I went back inside and the manager started to blow off my concern as well and tried to tell me avis would replace it if I had trouble. They replaced the van with another Chevy cargo van even though I pointed out that I reserved a Transit and that they had several in the parking lot. Unacceptable. The next Chevy cargo van seemed ok but was beaten up. As I drove off I noticed the steering alignment was horrible. Avis told me they could do nothing about it.Once got 2000 miles into my journey the serpentine belt started to squeal so I pulled over to investigate. Im thankful I did because the tires, after 2000 miles of poor alignment, were completely missing the inner tread and it was bald. I still had 2000 Miles to drive (with my kids and pets) across the desert in June. I called the Cheyenne WY Avis and they had a spare Transit and were able to swap it out for me.The Cheyenne WY Avis was amazing. I cannot say that enough. They went above and beyond to help my family and saved my family vacation from disaster in the desert. The SMF Avis should be placed under investigation for putting lives at risk by not inspecting their vehicles properly. I would avoid renting from them in you value living.
Make sure there is no damage on vehicle. I noticed the didnt do the wall around with me. When I asked they said it was due to covid. I noticed damage when I got home. Customer service gave me the run around 2 times. The first time they asked me to go online and fill out a damage form, yet I was calling to report. Could not find this form anywhere on their site. Then o thought it was dumb that I have to do their job. The second rep didnt help at all. On the 3rd call I was told to take pictures of the damage in case I was charged for proof 🙄
**If you arrive at this location after 12am, there will be no one to help you, even though their corporate office will say someone will be waiting**My plane was delayed arriving to Sacramento, I was slated to get my rental at 11pm, but now I would be arriving past 12am. I called the corporate office (because you cant reach the actual Sacramento office! This is by design Im sure!) and a rep said that they know my plane is delayed, and someone will wait for you.Yeah, so that did not happen. I arrived there at 1am and no one was there to give me my car. I tried for an hour to get a hold of someone IN SACRAMENTO to help me, but the corporate office was the only one I could reach, and they were no help of course, because they are not on the ground with me.So I waited in your facilities for 5 hours until 6am when Richard arrived. He was dismissive and condescending to me. There was zero customer service. Can you get someone a little more empathetic? Or teach Richard to not be a d*** to customers who waited on the benches and floor for 5 hours? Thanks.
Flat tire light was on, oil change light was on, water temp light came on intermittently. Never felt secure while driving the vehicle. The initial cost was very competitive though. I hope the vehicle issues were a fluke. If I had not been in an emergent situation I would have returned the vehicle immediately.
Ali was fantastic and helped me get a rental when I was in dire need. He made it so easy, and had me out the door in minutes. I used to be an Enterprise customer, but they have become too difficult to work with with their very high fees. Thanks to Ali, you have a new Budget/AVIS customer.
Make sure you get a print out, and get them to walk you through all the charges on the contract. Dont rely on their screens nor digitally sign without a hardcopy! We had declined all of the optional add ons at the time of booking. After the counter agent confirmed the vehicle charge, and deposit, I digitally signed their screen, and was told a copy would me emailed to me. When I finally had wifi and could review the contract, I saw the agent had added every add-on possible even though they were all declined, which doubled the car rental price. I did not initial anywhere to approve these add-ons. They were digitally accepted by the agent, and my digital signature added afterwards. I immediately emailed, with no response. I gave 2 stars because they eventually agreed to a partial refund after multiple emails, phone calls, and speaking to the manager.
Car they gave started to give coolent malfunction warning when we are outside national park by 8pm. Owners manual says not to drive. Called avis road side assistance at 8pm they said tow truck will come to pick car and will drop us in our hotel. None of the tow truck came till next day afternoon. We were there in the car entire night freezing.(Couldnt get a cab). To get replacement vehicle we had to travel 3 hours one way to nearby city. I am frequent traveler with Avis but greatly disappointed and frustrated this time.If avis missed to inspect the vehicle before renting to the customers , atleast should help with the faster roadside assistance when the customers are out in freezing cold. Not only the entire trip got ruined due to the car gave by avis, entire frustration about calling customer care every 30 mins is something I never wanted ever.
Terrible experience overall. Believed I had booked a car online. Was then told the website defaults to the other Sacramento location if they’re out of cars. Was told they had one. Got charged for all optional expenses that I didn’t know I was getting charged for and would have waived and just checked the finalized bill to see an extraneous charge for another $20 that is makes no sense as it came back with a full tank. No numbers work. Will never use them again.
My return flight was cancelled and i was rebooked on a much later flight. I didnt want to sit around at the airport for 10 hours so I called and had the return time extended from 2 pm to 10 pm. We picked up the car at 10:18 pm so I fugured it would still be the same rate. We ended up returning it at 7 pm so we only had a 5 hour wait at the airport. We filled up in Sacramento and drove it directly to the airport to turn in. I was charged a $10 fee for letting you know we were going to return the vehicle later than expected due to the circumstances and I as charged $5.99 for fuel service. The gauge read full. Your reading says it used .6 gallons after refueling. I dont think that I should have to pay for that! I returned it full, as far as I could tell . Avis shouldnt be nickle and diming their customers. A vehicle is going to use some gas after filling up if you have to drive it a few miles to get to the airport in stop and go traffic.
The cars are not clean or in good condition. I picked up a car on Thursday and car smelled like smoke. Switched to another car on Friday and car had too many rattling sounds and thing coming off the roof. Also you receive an email from airport manager but they don’t respond if you call or email. Zavier Santana, Avis Airport Manager was very rude and did not accommodate my request for all the inconvenience.
I also wanted to tell you regarding my rental car is that because of the wait in line. by the time I got to Redding California (which is where I had contracted to return the vehicle) that rental site was closed for the day. After looking for about 20 minutes I was finally able to find an after hours key drop off, but it said place keys in envelope and drop here. I was not given a key envelope. The car had not been vacuumed, or at least appeared that way. There were hairs in the cupholder, and the media screen was covered in dust. I had to wipe it down with a Lysol wipe. This prompted me to wipe down the steering wheel and everything that I touched with the Lysol prior to me touching it.The car also appeared to have not been washed as all I did was drive down I-5 from Sacramento CA to Redding CA. When I got out of the car I noticed that it was basically encrusted with dust. The driver floor did not have a floormat and the carpet was bare due to use in one area. There was no walk around the car with an agent. Of course, since there were about 20 people in line as I left, the one agent at the desk could not possibly leave to walk around the car inspecting it with me.
Never again will I use Avis. Preferred member for over 20 years, had a late flight (about hour lare) and they closed up without assigning a car, stranding me overnight at the airport. What the hell is the point of asking for my flight info if you wont use it to see i am late due to the airline and assign the car. Bad enough to be late on the plane, but add the insult to the injury of bwing stranded too. Will be finding a new rental company for sure.
The original vehicle Avis rented to me at SMF broke down so I had to be significantly inconvenienced for a swap out. The vehicle that was swapped out only had 1/4 tank of gas so I had to stop and fill it up. Then, when I returned the vehicle at the airport, it had over 1/2 tank of gas (more than I was told to bring it back with), however I was charged a $94.90 fuel charge!!! I’ve been trying to get this rectified but Avis doesn’t care one bit about me. I’ll NEVER use Avis again.
Watch your belongings constantly when youre on the Avis lot; otherwise you might end up like me and get your stuff stolen. When I turned in my rental, the parking lot was very dark and I forgot to pick up a rather expensive item out of the left/rear seat (the item was black and the seats were also black) that Id placed there just minutes earlier. I realized that Id left it there after Id already gotten through security and was nearing the boarding time for my flight; so I didnt have time to go all the way back to the lot. I tried calling the location because I could tell them EXACTLY where my item was at; but no answer. The only remote chance that youll get anything back from Avis SMF is to go online and fill out an Avis lost and found claim, which is part of how they get off the hook for your stuff never being seen again. So I filled out a claim; then started trying to call the SMF location. Weeks of calling the lost and found # with no answer and no return call. Weeks of just trying to get a live person on the phone at Avis SMF; no success. So I finally got a response from someone via their Facebook page; who promptly lectured to me that If youll read your contract, were not responsible for getting lost items back to you. Heres my point: the item was never lost - had anyone at Avis SMF answered the phone, I could have told them EXACTLY where the item was. So a logical suspicion would be that due to the value of the item, it perhaps followed someone home. Im not saying Avis SMF employees steal; Im not saying dont rent Avis at SMF; Im saying keep a very close eye on your phone, backpack, purse, carry on or anything that can easily be scooped out of a car seat that can disappear.
You can not reach customer service in a reasonable amount of time. Our van broke down and it took hours to reach customer service. Roadside assistance is a joke. They NEVER came to pick us up or provided a needed tow out of Yosemite National Park. The entire end of our family vacation was wasted being on hold with no resolution.
I turned in the car and got my receipt. Then, several hours later Avis sent me an email claiming that there was damage to the dash up under the windshield. I had never accessed this area and had not done anything. This is a typical ploy in which hidden damage is claimed at the end of every rental. Each renter pays but it’s never repaired so that the play can be run again.
We rented a car from this company and I forgot a important folder in the car with all my information in it when I dropped off the car I came back within 20 minutes and they said nothing was in the car which is a lie!! THEY WORKERS ARE THIEVES AND THEY DO NOT DO THEY JOB! THEY EITHER STOLE MY FOLDER AND DID NOT TURN IT IN OR THEY THREW IT IN THE GARBAGE ! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY DO NOT RENT HERE ! THEY STEAL !!!!
Rented for one way journey from SMF to BZN stopping in Reno, Idaho Falls, and Yellowstone along the way. Rented a NIssan Pathfinder which was very functional for our trip. This is the second rental from Avis at SMF this year. Both have been seamless. Highly recommend!
Have filed a BBB complaint. Avis has declined to respond to my rebuttal. Several issues noted below:1) Handling rentals 30 days: Any vehicle rental through Avis extending beyond 30 days generates 2 receipts. Only 1 e-receipt (03NOV-06NOV) is accessible via your website using the original confirmation number the government provided me upon booking the vehicle with Avis. My 03OCT-03NOV receipt was in a different pdf that was emailed to me by your customer service dept 14NOV after multiple requests for such and 8 days after I returned my rental. I would encourage you to standardize this internally to ensure any customer with rental period 30 days is provided appropriate documentation.2) Vehicle safety issue: All 4 sedan tires were filled to 28psi upon pickup though they are rated for max 51psi. Driving with low tire pressures can lead to overheating, blowout, and car accident. Is tire pressure part of your vehicle safety inspection prior to each rental?3) Inability to contact local or central supervisor: I made 20 calls to your Sacramento International Airport Avis location during regular business hours over the week of 08NOV and every call was routed to the call center regardless of which option I selected on the phone. I have been unable to reach a supervisor at this location to communicate my concerns. Your call center assured me twice I would receive a call back from a supervisor as there was over a 50-person queue to speak with one and they denied me the opportunity to wait on the phone; it has been over a month with no call yet.
We arrived at the correct time, 6 pm, to get our van an were told they did not have one yet. After about a half an hour they told us they were getting one ready. They made out the contract and sent it to my email so I did not see what was on the contract. At 7:20 we were told the van was ready and were handed the key to find the van in the lot. It was too dark to see the van so we drove off the lot. When we arrived at our destination we discovered that Avis tried to contact us but our phone was still on airplane mode. They wanted to know the number of the van since they apparently gave us the wrong van. On my email I discovered that the contract had a sienna and we actually had a voyager. In the morning I found a large scratch at the bottom of the passenger side sliding door. We tried in vain to contact Avis through email and phone with our concerns and spent the whole 10 days that we had the van worried that there was going to be problems. When we returned the van the airport was very busy and an Avis person took my keys and could not answer any of my concerns. The whole experience was very upsetting.
I would give them less than one star. I have returned the car last Saturday, and they cannot find any record of it! After countless phone calls with customer service they say it will take between three and five business days to finalize the case.Update: Mauricio and his supervisor have both assured me that I will be getting my receipt by end of day today. Guess what, I did! Upgrading my experience stars with them. Still room for improvement, but theyre trying.
The good was my car was ready for pickup the minute i was there, so i was in and out in no time. The bad was, i was charged for fuel despite the gas tank showing full...and there was basically no communication about anything during drop off. I mean its been a while since i rented a car but I will say basic courtesy is lacking.
Check in was easy, fast and friendly. However, they didnt honor military rates, of all dates, VETERANS DAY! When I called to get it refunded to my existing rental, the person I spoke with was top-tier rude and disrespectful. Will never rent here again. Also, they added bogus fees to my account after dropping off the car and getting off the phone with the agent. Although I was only 10 minutes late with my drop-off. Take your business to a company that cares; Budget and Enterprise never fails!
I chose Avis because I wanted a hybrid car for my visit to California. My unsatisfactory experience started at the check in counter. The attendant at the counter was very grumpy and rude. He demanded that I take the extra insurance on the rental. He stated several times we will bill you directly, your insurance will not pay for any damages. He did not state this in a factual, calm way. He was loud and very demanding and rude. Speaking to a customer in this way is not acceptable. It was dark outside when I picked up the car and difficult to see the car, so I was unable to judge the cleanliness of the car. The next morning I noticed the outside of the car had dirt all over it. The inside had not been cleaned well and there was a substantial amount of dirt on the inside. I though Avis had enhanced cleaning measures in place due to COVID? The inside of the windshield had not been cleaned and it was covered with a film that made it difficult to see. When I went to clean the outside of the windshield....there was NO WIPER FLUID???? Additionally, when I went to put gas in the car I noticed MUD inside the gas cap door. This car was not cleaned well at all! I took several pictures of the car at this point. While taking my pictures this is when I noticed there was no spare tire on the car. The cleanliness, the windshield, the wiper fluid and the spare tire issue are all safety issues which could have caused some very serious issues during my trip. There are other options and other rental agencies to choose from that were substantially cheaper. Next time....Ill choose a different rental agency
If you want to get a car rental and go elsewhere and here are few reasons why. First of all this was my friends wedding and we were renting out a Lincoln Navigator so we had it booked and paid for ahead of time turns out when we were picking up the car they said they did not have it available so they gave us a Chevy Tahoe my friend who is getting married was very disappointed because it was his wedding day so we ended up using shaving for the wedding but it was really dirty inside out as you can see in the pictures below the customer service was rude and unclear about anything I think its just a good lesson for me I dont want other people to have bad experience with car rentals so just wanted to let you all know
Not really sure what all the negative reviews are about. The shuttle service was fast, I paid online and had my car in less than 5 minutes, the desk jockey was nice, return took less than 1 minute, and one of the ladies walked me over to return shuttles to help me figure out which one I needed to get on.It is weird that its located away from the airport and you have to take a shuttle but thats not really on them.
While we think the value of the rental was good, something happened that made me feel it would not be advisable to recommend Avis to my friends and family. We lost trust in your people. My friend had his tablet in the car attached with a power cable. He made a mistake and forgot it. Within a couple minutes he was back to the car, but it had been moved already. Someone brought the car back and he found the tablet stuffed well under the seat..... but detached from the cable. Someone was planning to steal it. The cable was missing which we feel was evidence of an intentional act to keep the customer from recovering his property. Moral here is dont leave your stuff behind because you cannot always trust people.
DO NOT RENT FROM SACRAMENTO AIRPORT AVIS. I arrived an early Saturday morning with no one in the Avis line (first clue). The lady at counter gave me a maroon Toyota Camry. I asked for a different color. Driving down I-99 freeway to Southern California in a stop me red car is not a good idea. The clerk looked at 5 Toyota keys next her keyboard and said she did not have a different car. Amazing! (Avis, please award this clerk the worst liar of the year award) I was shocked and pleased that I was the first and last person to get the only Maroon Camry in the lot! I walked up to my dented up, beat up car (see photos). Fred Flintstone had wore out the floor mat with two fat feet. No time to go back and complain I had things to do. This beauty had over 42k miles but let me tell you, 20 years of defensive police driving helped get this bad girl back! Just avoid Avis anywhere.UPDATE. If you see a We are sorry to hear you are not happy with your rental experience....send us your name and reservation number..etc. etc below peoples complaints, they just send you another generic email saying they will look into it to make their rental place better. LOL. Fool me once.....
The car that was giving to us was not cleaned (we found a hard hat and clipboard in it), was NOT filled with gas (it was only 1/4 full) and smelled like an ashtray even though it was a non-smoking vehicle. The lack of gas cost us almost $100 to fill up and the smell of the car was disgusting the entire time we had it. It was all very disappointing. I doubt I will use Avis again in the future.
Service was great! My reservations got confusing because i changed Promo codes, and then had to change the pickup time several times on the day of pick up (due to flight delays). In the end I picked up one vehicle at 1030 PM, from the courtesy counter, then received a later text saying my car (a different vehicle) was waiting for me. So it all worked out OK! Thanks AVIS!
I have rented from Avis twice and both times the car smelled so strongly of cigarettes that I got a migraine. I had to drive in 100 degree heat with the windows down because it was so bad. Everything else was fine, but this seems to be a trend, and I am unlikely to rent another car unless there is a way to be guaranteed a non-smoking car.
Every part of the rental process was quick and painless. The employees at the Sacramento airport were extremely knowledgeable, and got my information processed and showed me to my car promptly. Upon returning the vehicle, I was instantly assisted by multiple employees who turned the vehicle in for me and helped me get my bags from the trunk. They then proceeded to help guide me to the shuttle for my flight. 10/10 will rent again. P.s. the car was nice and clean as well, and almost brand new. Nice!
Not only was I told one pre pay price, which I paid in full, then when I picked up car a day later was told I still owed 90$! All of this was so your agent on the phone could coerce me into signing up for the business act, which I did not want to. I emailed 3 times and asked to pull the call, I gave the exact time and date of phone call, to find out customer service would not help. Then, on top of everything, I called to say I needed to keep the car 2 extra days, I kept it 3 days which was my fault( I did say 2 days extra) to find out I was charged over 500$ more to keep the car those extra days. I was hit with every charge imaginable to increase my bill. There is no excuse how I was treated by Avis, i am a loyal customer who always rents with you and I have my co workers and family rent from Avis because I always had great experiences with Avis, Im a preferred member, not any more, i cannot ever seeing myself come back to Avis after I was dragged through the ringer with charges. I took great care of the car, brought it back full, clean, and with few miles put on. I dont understand why you charge me such a crazy amount. Im disappointed to say the least.
I booked and pre-paid for an intermediate SUV on July 2, for pickup the next day July 3 and return July 4. There were only 2 people in line in front of me and it took over an hour to get my car. There was only one person working at the Avis counter on a busy holiday weekend. It was taking about 20 minutes to process each customer. When it was my turn at the front of the line, I was told there were no more cars. I had to sit and wait for someone to return a car before I could leave with what I had paid for. What a joke. I will never rent from Avis again.
I reserved a truck and when I got to the facility I had to wait for over an hour waiting for a truck to come in and when it got there it was filthy and needed to be deep cleaned so I ended up taking a car and getting charged for a truck anyway. The customer service was excellent. The fact that I didnt get a truck like I needed cost me valuable training I needed for my job. Never choosing AVIS if I have a choice.
When I called to book the car the representative gave me a price and said I had to commit to it right then or i would pay hundreds more at another time, however I would have to pass a credit check upon picking up the car at the airport after landing at my destination. He said there was no way that I could have the credit check pre-done so I could end up theoretically being stranded if i didnt get approved for the credit and I would have already paid, then have to wait for the refund for 7-10 days. This was extremely stressful for me as I prepared for my trip. Picking up the car was easy and there was in fact no credit check. But when I returned it, there were no parking spaces in the Avis lot. I was in a hurry to catch my flight home and kept circling the lot to look for a place to park the car. The office was not open yet because it was not yet 6 am. Finally I saw a man working for the lot in reflective gear come out and start instructing all of us who were looking for spaces to just park in the middle of the lanes. I did so and dropped my key in the box and briefly saw something that said you were supposed to write a note if you left the gas full but i didnt have time to do that. I had to get to the line for the shuttle. The shuttle was weirdly practicing social distancing (even though the planes do not) so I had to wait for the 3rd one and then I missed my flight. I have a charge for $17 on my card now that Im assuming is for gas? Even though I filled up that morning before returning it which i think would be easy to confirm the tank was full. I am still waiting for my deposit back also. I have not been successful reaching customer service by phone because of wait time and hours available due to the reason for my call. I have used Enterprise dozens of times and the difference is very remarkable. You cannot speak to a direct office no matter how you try. I will never deal with Avis again, it was horrible.
The rental agent was nice and professional, However the record system sucks. I received a letter from the agency stating that I was going to be arrested because I hadent returned the car, even though I had returned it and had a return receipt to prove it. Not a pleasant experience.
Waited forever to pick up a car I only needed for part of a day. Understaffed location. Agent was trying to upsell everyone instead of getting people out the door in cars. When I returned the car 3 hours early and full of gas I was charged a fuel service fee!!! I will NEVER RENT HERE AGAIN!!!
The line was LONG but the van was ready and what we ordered. We had the 12 passenger van and beside it being expensive it gave everyone space as we drove around that week and handled well. Drivers and co-polits doors did not have a running board and it was necessary to hoist yourself in and out each time. Side sliding door was not a safety door. Avis has made return super easy. Just get out. Leave keys in car and walk away.
The price was great, better than competitors, and not many were willing to let me drop car other side of state. But the car smells like smoke. Ar first I did not notice much, as they sprayed lots of stuff to hide smell. But after car stood in sun for few hours it was unbearable. I had to open all doors for a minute before I would let my family get in. Would have requested trade if I had time.
I have been a very loyal Avis customer in the last year (60+ days of business travel/rental from Avis). Most recently, I rented for 3 days for personal use. The total cost was a reasonable $147. My girlfriend spent the morning in the ER, and I had to add an additional day to my reservation...and how much did Avis appreciate my loyalty? By charging me $142 extra. Sorry, when you bend me over like that, youve lost me as a customer.
I denied insurance to the counter agent but my bill had it on it. After seeing it on my contract I called customer service multiple time and left call back #. When they did call back I was in meetings unable to talk. So on return of car I was sent back to the rental counter. Agent there told me I should have read the contract that was sent to my phone, even though Id been traveling 12 hours and it was 11PM and all I wanted was to was get to hotel. Told agent look at my past rentals and you will see I never take insurance. Said could not do. She talk to someone else and said call customer service. For a $33 mistake Avis made and no fault of my own, I will find it difficult to rent from Avis or Budget or have my employees rent your cars.
We rented from Avis on August 26, 2021. We received a Toyota Prius. It was obvious that the car hadn’t been cleaned at all. There were shredded carrots in the passenger seat, some chewed up carrots on the door and grape jelly on the console. It hadn’t been vacuumed or wiped down, let alone sanitized. It looked like a teenagers daily driver. We stopped at the store and bought some sani-wipes and cleaned it ourselves. We were in too big of a hurry to exchange it. It was disgusting. The photos don’t come close to showing how nasty it was.
The pick up was not as fast as I would like but it was pleasant. I received a brand new Jeep Wrangler when I had only requested a small SUV. I was scheduled to drop off at a different location. The next day I called he drop off location to extend my reservation and it was very quick and easy. Do not call the number on the folder to extend your reservation. It is a computer and it is not helpful at all. I just dropped it off today and they were very quick, friendly, and easy to work with. Thank you Avis! I will rent from you again.
The wait time at the Sacramento Airport to pick up my car was 55 minutes. This is not acceptable. The vehicle wasnt clean on the outside and had water spots all over it. When I drove the vehicle at 60 mph, it made a flapping sound near the rear wheel. I have rented from Avis at other airports and not had this experience. The employees were nice and tried to make the best of it.
I recently rented a car and “prepaid” to include Sirius radio. It was an additional fee of $35 but worth it for our long road trip. The car did not have the option that I paid for. When I returned the car, I attempted to get a refund. They told me a refund was not possible because I prepaid. I bet if I returned the car with less than full tank; they would have quickly revisited my credit car. It is ridiculous that I paid for a service that I did not receive and Avis was like, “oh, well.”
Horrible horrible horrible customer service, they make you pay for extra services and when the service is needed they don’t cover it, never renting a car with this companyBlake the manger didn’t help at all we talked to him for 30 mins and didn’t help us with anything.
Great rental however the vehicle I rented and needed I couldnt take out of state. We live in Oklahoma and wanted to drive home. With several different varieties of plants and succulents. I feel any vehicle rented should be able to be returned in any state. Other than that clean great running vehicle.
I returned the car full tank but was still charged $32.50 extra for gas. Emailed the gas receipt to the customer service for a refund but still no answer. Be aware of this location. [Update: Got the difference as a refund, thanks to Avis Online customer service. So I’m changing the review from 1 to 2 stars. Make sure to save all receipts just in case!]
No receipt was issued when I returned the car 5 days ago. Multiple calls and chat line attempts have been a waste of time, as no one can seem to get me the receipt. Total run around. my credit card had a charge which was twice the rate and bogus, causing me to order a replacement credit card to stop the fraud. I am not making any of this up. I need the receipt to get reimbursed.
After I reserved a car, the rental clerk told me that my bank of america card was rejected because of credit. Not sure what that meant. Then I had to use my credit card to rent. Afterwards while on the highway my tire blew out. I called roadside thier assistance and was on the phone for over an hour with no answer. Its a good thing I have AAA, or I wouldve been S.O.L. Then I call avis to tell them ask for a replacement vehicle. They tell me I have to go to the airport avis. The next day I go to the airport avis. I get there and Im in line for over an hour. Then they tell me they dont have the car I need. Mind you Im 62 so I need a full size car. They bring a midsized car around. So after trying and failing to fit in thier car, I go over to another clerk and she give me the car I need. After the other clerk told me no full size cars were available. Needless to say I was irritated. And on top of all of this they dont do pickups or drop offs. So now I have to take an expensive uber to get home. And this is why I rent from Enterprise. Smh.
I will surely never rent from Avis Budget and surely this location every again. They rented me a car with no wipers (the rubber on the wiping stick) on the windscreen and we were in a storm. I called corporate and they were more than dense. Additionally they falsely charged us $132 for fuel days after the car was returned and we had to show our bank transaction as proof of fuel purchase. Please save yourself the stress and rent from another company.
Rented a car from Avis fron their Airport location in Sacramento, is was in and out in less than 10 mins. The car was clean and ran great. I had and early fly out of Sacramento at the end of my stay and i wasnt sure if the shuttles were going to be running that early so I called Avos customer service. The gentleman that assisted me advised that the shuttles started running at 6am. Well my flight was at 6am and I had to obviously be inside the airport earlier than 6am. So he says well most ppl walk from avis to the airport as its only 37 steps. I said 37 steps are you sure? He said Google is saying 37 steps. I laughed and said umm no, you have to drive a little ways to get from point A to point B. Nevertheless I wasnt going to walk at 5am with bags and a 7 yr old in tote. Get to the airport only to find out that the shuttles are running prior to 6am. Other than being given wrong info, it was a good experience. I took the car full of gas, and they didnt charge as previous reviews had mentioned.
I informed the agent at the airport at the time of picking up my car that I would purchase gas on my return, yet, I got charged for gas. I pre-paid for the car yet there were two charges on my VISA bill. One for the agreed upon $200+ but another for $400+ that I am still trying to track where it came from. Please HELP This is the first time I have used AVIS and it will be the last!
Very bad experience with the customer service. The male staff there was rude. We booked upfront thru there site but did not apply any coupon from our company as we were doing it for first time. We are actually preferred customer and asked them regarding the company discount. The Male staff who was there told us that we cannot apply discount at desk as we booked online. so we cancelled the reservation and asked him to take it as a walk in. He neither agreed for that and told us we cant give car if u cancel the reservation. IT WAS TOTAL MESS. We requested to talk to the manager and that guy was even .kre rude. He told we are not preferred customer and grabbed the key from my hand. The rates were much higher without our discount code., later one female staff came and she helped to sort this out and we had to exchange our CX5 with a smaller car for the same price even though we were taking a mini lease.Overall they wasted our 3 hrs there and spoiled our day. Go to some other local avis centers if you want to get car
Reservation for 12:15AM. Got to Avis at 12:02. Avis closed at 12:00. What?! Nobody cares. Guy in parking lot said just take a car since I was preferred. What?! Called customer service. They said just get in a Kia and go. No keys in the car. They said nothing they could do. Avis billed my card. Had to Uber at 3.7 times the rate to hotel. Avis doesn’t care. This used to be the best place to rent a car. Not anymore. Do not rent here!
The vehicle when I picked it up was trashed inside. There were only some of the damaged marked and sent me out in a broken vehicle. The front end was pulling, and making a loud humming noise. It was late so I drove it to my destination 1 hour away and called roadside in the morning. They sent me to another avis wich was located in a mall. The vehicle they gave me..was a down size and he told me to take it or leave it! Very reluctant I took it . It was trashed inside (again) had damage on the inside and outside that was not marked on the slip and I was still charged the original price. After spending countless hours on the phone and driving back and forth to resolve the issues, they still were not taken care of. I feel like I should have been compensated for all my troubles and loss of time? I was not compensated for this. I hope in the future that it gets resolved and gets better moving forward.
The person at the counter in Sacramento CA was a mess. Threw the papers at us and would not answer any questions. After the rental I was overcharged approx $1,000! and I have proof but it is almost impossible to talk with anyone at Avis. In the next few hours I will be calling my credit card company to stop the payment if I dont get a call back from Avis. I know car rentals have suffered but to overcharge a customer $1,000 and no one to help is THEFT!
Avis is usually on top of their game and I try not to nitpick, buuuuuut. Initially assigned the wrong vehicle (no problem), wait for vehicle was oddly long (no problem), vehicle arrive absolutely filthy to the point I could barely see out the windows or use the mirrors (problem). I guess they just had a bad day...
Start out with not having a problem renting my car from them before. Today had a flat tire and other things go wrong. Was on hold with their emergency roadside assistance for a hour and 2 hours before customer service called me back on my call back request. Probably not a good day to say anything else.
Im happy I got a car to drive although they definitely gave us the short end of the stick. We were advertised a Ford Explorer or Hyundai Santa Fe but instead got a White Kia Sorento. We got charged $58 for coming a bit later than the drop off time even though the daily rate was $49/day.
I flew into the airport on one of the last flights, so I knew that I’d be getting my car just as the rental office would close. On the day of, my flight was delayed by half an hour and I was afraid that the rental office would be closed when I got there.I was so happy to find, as I was explained to at the desk as well, that the rental car offices stay open until after the last flight has landed even when the flight comes in late.Phew, deep breath of relief. The clerk at the desk did the best he could with a line of 5 groups by himself and I got my rental car after a 10 minute wait and a quick run through of additional services.Another pleasant surprise was getting a Ford Mustang upgrade over the economy vehicle that I had originally requested without an extra charge. Granted, the fuel economy wasn’t as good, but the comfort features of the car were great. The return process was also easy and pain-free: just drive the car up and park, leave the keys in the ignition, get the car checked over, get a receipt, and you’re off to the shuttle to the airport.Avis wasn’t on my board of car rental services before this experience, but now it will be one of the first services I will check when I travel.
I am very dissatisfied with Avis car rental as a whole. I picked up my rental @ SMF airport on January 27th. I had noticed a distinct smoke/weed smell and thought i would air out the car. On day 2, the car was still strong with smoke/week smell and noticed that the car had not been cleaned as fingerprint smudges and cigarette ash was on the seats floor. I called customer service and advised me to go to the nearest locations, which I went to in rancho cordova, but no midsize sedans were available. I had no choice but to use the car. I had my mother and my 5 year old with me. I ended up ditching the car at my sisters and using their spare car. Overall bad experience. I frequently rent cars at SMF thru National, and I will never rent from avis again.
Overall convenience of facility at Sacramento airport was not up to par. Other locations get me out and in faster. Vehicle was not clean upon pick up. A used face mask was in the center console, windows were filthy, vehicle had not been washed nor interior vacuumed. I question if it had been sanitized.
Very long line. Slow staff. Just only one counter I understand now considering the pandemic situation but my friends rented cars few times before the COVID-19 and still long line and just one counter. usually takes hour and half to get your vehicle. But i got the best car it was very clean newer model and drop off was much easier
This place is a SCAM!!. They charged my credit card $250 for smoke odor. We dont smoke, never have. Try to dispute and I just keep getting pushed around and transferred. Worst experience ever. I literally want to cry.The vehicle we received was beat up, dented, scratched and dirty. We reserved an SUV and they didnt have one available so they forced me into a mini van. Extremely frustrating experience. Horrendous customer service.
I picked up from Sacramento Airport. For a basic midsized care, I paid 276.00 for TWO days and was not allowed to keep it a couple of hours longer when my daughters event ran long. I had to pay an additional 176.00 for TWO more measly hours!! This is criminal...Where in the world do you rent a car for TWO days for almost $500?? I will NEVER use Avis again ans will tell everyone I know to avoid this company as well. This felt CRIMINAL!
The first car I picked up from Sacramento Airport was a brand new Nissan pathfinder with 4 miles on it 100 miles in the check engine light came on. I called customer service and let them know that I need a new vehicle. They said I needed to drive to the nearest Davis and get another vehicle. Which I didn’t feel comfortable with because I didn’t want to be liable for any damages to the car. There was no other option and I have to drive the car an hour to the next airport to pick up another vehicle. When I got to the Reno Nevada airport I was given a Ford explore I stopped at a restaurant to eat and when I went to get back in the car there was what seem to be cockroaches inside the car. I had to shake all my stuff out and found six cockroaches crawling from underneath the carpets underneath the seats and found that the car was filthy. Not too far into my drive low tire pressure light came on and I had to once again stop my travels and tend to the car I rented. There was lots of food and cookies stuff between the seats and in the door panels the windows had hand marks on them. The car was not properly sanitized. Due to the current circumstances “Covid“ it was a huge negligence on their part. Overall my whole experience I would say was not great. Especially when I rented a car so that I could travel safely.
This was a great car rental experience for me. The preferred pick-up was very efficient and smooth. An excellent vehicle was selected for my which really made my trip a pleasure and I enjoyed it very much. The vehicle was clean and in perfect condition. Upon drop-off, the attendant was very friendly and provided curb-side drop off service which was very helpful due to the quantity of large heavy baggage. I would highly recommend this location.
Zero stars for absolute incompetency. The worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Only two employees were stationed to work the Budget, Payless, AND Avis car rental services. The line wrapped out of the door and around the building for hours. Once you got to the front desk, you still had to wait another hour or more to actually get the car you reserved. They overbooked and did not offer any accommodations to account for the terrible service. Would not recommend to anyone, Enterprise right next to it was 10 times faster and actually had cars for the reservations they made.
I returned My car and they printed me a receipt with the total and the total did not match the total at the time I booked the car. I went inside and after waiting in line to talk to somebody the representative told me that he couldn’t do anything and that I would have to speak to the manager. He asked me to be seated and I waited for almost 20 minutes before going back up there. He told me I might have to wait an additional 30 minutes or longer before I could talk to meet with the manager. I was pretty upset and he blatantly did not care. I’m fairly certain he never made an effort to call the manager or or even let him know that I was waiting to speak with him. I regularly rent from Avis but this will be the last time I’ll pay money for these people to treat me like garbage.
This was the worst rental car experience I ever experienced. They did not give me the car I reserved 3 weeks In advance. Took over 2 hours just to get a car. Staff did not care about any customers. Car was dirty and not the car I reserved. Will never use Avis again after this experience.
I travel often for business and used to get better cars and free upgrades with Avis. After Covid they have gone down hill, which I understand. However, you would think they would take better care of their loyal customers who still use them during Covid. And apparently every car renter in the state of California now smokes in the car because I have yet to get a rental that doesn’t stink of smoke and marijuana. I personally only use Avis anymore because sometimes they are cheaper than the other companies I use. But I end up regretting it every time
I arrived at rental counter expecting my rented vehicle to be ready so that I could make it to a funeral. As it happens I arrived to no vehicle available being made to wait 20 minutes for one when Clerk gave me the keys the vehilce didnt have the toll pass that I had paid for. So again I was made to wait only this time for an additional 45 minutes for a vehicle I had rented. I approached staff and was told that I had to continue waiting the staff was attempting to find and clean a vehicle for me. Now this meant waiting in a crowded building or out in the hot sun at 109 degrees and that I also missed my own brothers funeral. Staff was told that I needed to get to funeral and offered no solutions to the problem other than to wait. As I have paid in advance I asked for a manager and was told none was available. I asked for attendants name and he walked away from me hollering in another language to a porter. I feel that I have been disrespected both as a person and a customer.
I really like the Avis rental experience. Ive been using you for years and the operation hasnt failed me once. Yes of course I would love and escalade or suburban for the price of a economy car but what I have used has always hit the mark. The app continues to improve, the customer service and walk up process even during covid-19 was seamless. I will continue to use and recommend Avis.
I absolutely loved the experience of Avis when I went to Sacramento with a group of friends for the weekend. I receive a discount for being part of my schools alumni association and I did not expect such an awesome discount! I have gone through other rental companies like budget, and it was not a much of a discount. Getting to the location is super easy, the shuttle drops you off right in front of the rental office. And the customer service was phenomenal! They are super nice, the process is very easy. If you have to fill up the gas tank before dropping off the car, there is one right when you enter the airport. The ease of dropping it off is super easy, there are signs so you cant get lost. They are really nice and I would definitely rent through them again when I go back to visit my friends.
The staff seemed disorganized and had a hard time finding our reservation, which had been confirmed by email that same day. The car we got was not what was expected, and we couldnt figure out how to open the hatch, though it all worked out okay using the rear doors. Early dropoff was unclear and the key box had a label asking for mileage and fuel level, yet provided no pen to write it with.
First, picture a 58 yr old woman in a wheelchair who made reservations on the phone 2 days earlier. She has a confirmation number and no one in the avis customer service would even listen to us bcuz she and her caregiver didnt have a departure ticket!!! We had just returned from Hawaii for 2 weeks bcuz my mother is ill, and we needed to set up care for her. Its 10 o clock at night and the Avis agent ignored us. Finally, we approached the ENTERPRISE COUNTER they were so INCREDIBLE they even paid for a courtesy ride to our favorite motel!!!😍😍😍Avis would have let us sleep in the airport for all they cared.I dont understand their stupid departure ticket policy but Avis could have at least tried to help but RUDE ARROGANT AND NO COMPASSION !!!!!!!!!! BY THE GRACE OF GOD ENTERPRISE CAME TO THE RESCUE😍😍😍😍never again will I spend money at Avis
Overall the experience with avis is ok. But the pick up time is not flexible. My flight to SMF is delayed one day because of the weather. I have to pay extra for picking my car with one day less renting time. However, i spent almost two hours in the avis car pickup location to be able to get my car. I have no where to charge Avis for my time.
Good Afternoon, My experience with the lack of customer service at Sacramento International airport was beyond unacceptable on May 23,2020. As making a reservation weeks before. When I arrived at my scheduled pickup time. I was told by agent Cat Employee # 86722 that there was 90 minute wait time and was to be put on waiting list.??? My thoughts were then whats the point of online reservation? She was not very pleasant and very rude. The manager whom I was told in charge named Zavior. I was informed he was the only person cleaning and getting cars ready. On a Saturday which is a very busy and on top of a Holiday weekend??? Due to the fact I was in a hurry the staff was not accommodating in any way ...I did noticed in the area for available rental cars there was a Chevy Tahoe parked and ready to go .I asked Cat and Zavier what can I do to possibly get the available vehicle. I was told I could contact customer service to upgrade my vehicle class. I did that made the changes and was still not able to get the vehicle. Cat advised me that I would be put at the end of the 2 hour wait list even tho I had a reservation???? I was very disappointed in the resolution. I was not happy and extremely frustrated with the level of unprofessionalism that my family experienced. I believe if there is a shortage of staff to accommodate customers when reservations are made more staff is needed especially on very busy holiday weekends. I asked for all the employees information and contact. I was told the General Manager is Dave McMillan and also another executive is Colin Rutherford. Due to how I was treated at this location I will make sure this information gets to their attention. The standards at Sacramento International Airport was deplorable. Staff members are in need of updated training courses. It would make sense to accommodate paying customers whom have reservations. This was not a walk up and hope to request a vehicle the same day, this was a planned event.
The people at the counter are great. However, the service when calling by phone is not. Its difficult or impossible to call the actual counter where you rented the car; its routed to a call center that leaves you not entirely convinced that the people on the other end have done what youve asked. Ive had to call twice before to get something simple like a receipt, and even once got a nastygram from loss prevention because a rental I thought I had asked to extend was not in fact extended.Ive had 6 different cars from them and havent liked them all but theyve all been in good shape, and the one time I had to exchange for a maintenance issue (car horn suddenly stopped working) it was a quick and painless process.
My rental experience on Monday, June 15th at 7:16 PM was very unpleasant and I will never rent from Avis again. Here are my reasons:1) The customer service agent blatantly lied to me about looking up my corporate car rate when requested. My company has contracts with multiple rental car companies due to the excessive travel in our organization. I was told by the woman at the front desk that my corporate rate was already included in the quoted rate despite the fact that I did not provide any company information to her. When I asked which company she had included in my rate she could not give me an answer; Therefore, I caught her in a dead faced lie.2) I requested loss damage waiver insurance on the vehicle. She proceeded to add this insurance on the vehicle; However, during review of my charges she also added three additional items (Personal accident, personal effects, and additional liability insurance) without my explicit approval. When questioned, she told me I had no other option and I could walk away if I did not agree. Upon further investigation (calling the reservations office the next day) it was clearly communicated to me that renters have the option of adding or removing individual insurance lines per the renters needs without exception. Therefore, this was another dead faced lie from the woman at the front desk.3) The state of California, due to the ongoing COVID circumstance, has issued a statewide order extending the dates of all drivers licenses which have expired through July 31st, 2020. The woman at the front desk argued with me for 30 minutes, and refused to acknowledge this statewide order, thus breaking the law in her interpretation of Californias drivers license expiration-extension which is clearly posted across the DMV website and implemented by police forces throughout the state. I was forced to elevate the issue with her manager. For anyone stuck in a bind or looking to rent a car from Avis I highly suggest you avoid Avis at all costs due to the unethical behavior exhibited towards consumers.
Avis Car RentalI will never rent from this place again, they dont know they are doing and they charge for things that are not in the contract and force you to be ok with it. We rented the car in hopes to have a nice family trip and Avis car rental ruins it at the start of the trip by 1st over charging the security deposit 2nd hanging up on me while trying to get this resolved, 3rd not taking responsibility to expedite the refund of my money. I was warned about renting from this place and now I know why.
Because there was one guy working slowly at the Sacramento airport rental place. The line was incredibly long. He said 80% percent of staff had been let go. Thats a ridiculous way to run a business. When it was finally our turn, he was in no hurry to look for a car for us. I was told wed be getting a Ford Edge. he said we dont even have those any more. We waited outside in the heat for our car for 20 minutes. We waited an hour inside in line.
Avis booked my car online for a 1230am pickup at Sacramento Airport. I caught a $70 uber to the Airport to pickup the car, when I got there all the staff left already and there was no one to give me a car. . I had to spend the night in the AVIS lobby sleeping on hard chairs with my niece until the office opened the following morning. The AVIS customer service rep did not show up on time (500am) which caused ny niece to miss her flight. I had to purchase a NEW $200.00 dollar American Airline ticket for the following day. When I told the AVIS rep what happened he said to just file a complaint and didnt seem to care. The whole experience was just awful
I live close to the sac airport that’s why I choose this location. This was my third time renting form that location and every time it’s always one person at the counter. Yesterday 8/2/2020. I reserved a car for 12:00pm with lines wrap around the corner as I expected only one slow moving senior citizen at the counter. She was averaging 25min per customer. I waited in line for almost 2 hours to get my car which caused me to be late to my destination. Eventually another person came to help, by then line had worsened.
I recommend you But I went to pick up the car. What I Reserved wasnt the one I Got Or The Price I Was Told. EITHER. I GOT THE Car But It Ended up Costing Me 210.00 plus 200.00 Deposit. MORE THAN I WAS QUOTED FOR. THAT IS WHY I DONT RECOMMEND YOU GUYS. SORRY 😞. 😞 🙇♀️. YOU DONT KEEP YOUR WORD. YOUR WORD IS ALL WE HAVE TO GO ON IN THIS WORLD. NOW DAYS .
If I could give it negative stars - I would. Absolutely the worst experience I ever had (I rent cars often). First, I prepaid everything before getting the car. They offered us an upgrade for $35 so we decided to take it. After about 20 minutes of driving we realized there was a strange smell in the car, which turned out to be really bad BO. We were after a long flight and figured we can just air it out. No luck. It got so bad after sitting in the sun we had to wash our clothes after being in the car. We called Avis and were told to exchange the car close to were we were staying for vacation. We did and we had no more issues. But when I returned the car, they tried to bill me for the upgrade. $35 is not much, but they were trying to rip us off for an upgrade we did not have! After some arguing with them they took the charge off and we were on our way. Then they sent me a tax bill for $35. I called the rental place and they told me they have no idea what that is about as their system showed I paid for everything. I had to deal with their billing dept. This is the WORST customer service I have ever seen. It took me weeks to get a hold of them. Then they told me they would send me an updated bill that was slashed in half. Never received it. What I did receive is a threat that they will send my bill to a collection agency. I finally gave up and paid the stupid bill. Guess what, a day after they cashed my check they sent it to a collection agency. I have never dealt with such awful company. I will never use AVIS or any affiliate car renal companies again. I hope the $35 extra dollars they got out of me is worth all the potential earnings they could have from future rentals. I travel a lot and this was the first time I was blatantly lied to and charged for a service I did not receive. Do yourself a favor and go with a different rental company.
The car that was given to me smelled like weed. I spoke with the attendent about it and he told me they didnt have any other car to offer. We were leaving for a trip to the coast, so I took the car as is. It was the worst drive I have experienced. I wont be using AVIS again.
I have rented through other agencies and I travel frequently. I decided to use Avis this time so I can use my AARP discount. I was very pleased with the price. But I also have to say I was impressed with the customer service. The gentlemen I spoke with on the phone, who booked my rental, was so helpful and even found me another discount, thats amazing customer service! Then the gentlemen at the counter that night at Sacramento airports Avis was so calm, and extremely nice...genuine. Much needed after a day of air travel. Ill be flying again in a few weeks and Avis will be my choice from now on. Thank you!
The staff at Sacramento airport rental location was extremely knowledgeable and he understood my requirement to add my friend on my rental so that he can drive me to SFO airport and return the car at Sacramento. I am extremely thankful to staff and Avis for being flexible with my requirements and knowing what to do exactly.
Rented a vehicle from Avis at Sacramento CA airport, the overall experience was great, long lines due to demand, but person at the counter was efficient and got me in a car quickly, the vehicle was clean and in good working condition, the return process was super simple, took me less than a minute to return the car.
This place TOOK my money, confirmedmy reservation, I drove my family over 100 miles to pick up a truck, then they tell me they dont except my form of payment when they ALREADY EXCEPTED IT! Now I cant get over $1000.00 back for five days! What am I supposed to do until then? Lose my business? I will NEVER do business with or ALLOW ANYONE I know, or ANYONE who will listen to rent ANYTHING from Sacramento Airport Avis! Should have went to Enterprise
I waited in line for over one hour when only 5 customers were in front of me. When the agent ordered the car, it took over one half hour for the car to be brought to the location for us to pick it up. Then the car they brought up was the wrong model car. It took us over a half hour to get the correct vehicle that we had prepaid for. Two hours later we were on the road. We missed a planned dinner because of the incompetence of the personnel involved.
I signed up for the AVIS Preferred option and was shunted from the regular counter in Sacramento by 2 agents where NOBODY was waiting, and sent outside to the AVIS preferred section where there was a wait. The agent took extra long to find me a car then added an upgrade for an extra daily fee, which I never asked for. In addition my receipt showed a per mileage fee which came up to $208 US extra, which I never budgeted for. In past rentals, it was always unlimited mileage. Had I realized this in advance, I could have rented with Budget, Dollar or any other company. Very Disappointed with the price gouging. Not likely to rent with AVIS again.
Your rental agent sold me the LWD coverage under false pretenses. She told me even if I have rental cars covered under my policy Avis will not work with my insurance company as a third party. I would be billed directly by Avis and have to recoup the charges from my insurance company. After speaking to a manager on the customer service line I was told this is misinformation. I feel as though this in unethical sales as I’m sure your employees are compensated for selling additional services. I work for a large corporation that partners with Avis for rentals. I will be advising them to drop Avis as a partner based on this experience.
We had a friendly and helpful agent. We had reserved an SUV but he didnt have one so he upgraded us to a van at no additional cost. One bothersome note at Sacramento, since Avis and Budget share resources, and all their agents share one walkie talkie to call for a car, our agent had to wait for his turn, so thats why he simply offered us a van instead.
Run, Run Away!!!!Reserved a mid size car at $53 per day for exactly 24 hours. Was offered an upgrade at the counter, free. I accepted. Returned the car as agreed the next day, with the gas tank full. 9 days later I received the receipt via email... $1350.00!! I called Avis and they said that I had the car for a week! They required proof that I had returned it after only 24 hours. My time is way too valuable for this idiocy, but I made a screenshot of my flight information and sent it in. They eventually corrected the time rented, but charged me for a gas tank of fuel at $117.00. More time on the phone and they were insisting that I send proof. I had had enough and threatened to take it to the news media and a supervisor agreed to have the fuel charge removed. Please! Go to either Enterprise or National, and save receipts. This organization is worthless and will only cause you frustration. Completely incompetent!
Richard was so kind - greeted us and made the pick up process very easy. But, the shuttle attendants who dropped us off told us that the Avis counter was outside - thats only for preferred - so go inside if youre prepaid or not in their preferred membership club. The drop off was a little bit of a skit because there arent adequate signs at the Sacramento Airport drop off lot. I would recommend that you ask them to explain where to drop off when youre first picking up the car so its not as confusing. Overall, it was great and they offer great deals and upgrades.
Hands down the most difficult rental experience I’ve ever had. Nadine was extremely rude and condescending. Their was an issue with my work rental and instead of providing good customer service made the situation unpleasant. This location could use some friendly employees.
I have had nothing but good experiences with Avis and renting cars. For my California trip I booked and paid ahead online. When I arrived at the location they had a special kiosk that you could simply walk up to, check in and within minutes youre in the car. Dropping off the car was just as simple. Pulled up in the lane, they checked the car, printed me a receipt and we were on our way.
No help and denied rental because I had no departing flight booked with Debit card. I do not use credit. Poor service and treated me like I wasnt a valid customer when I even had a reservation. How would you feel coming to a new city with a reservation, then told its no good. I have a hotel reservation and can prove I travel on projects for local businesses, I dont know how long the project will last, could be 3 days, maybe a week, then my company books a departing flight. Poor customer treatment with no help. Stranded and have to use Lyft everyday.
I recently switched car rental companies in search of more convenience, helpfulness and accessibility to vehicles I like to rent. I found it in Avis. On my most recent trip, while taxiing into the terminal after landing, I realized that I had rented my car ( a specific car type) for the wrong days. Without even having the AVIS app on my phone, I was able to rebook my car online before reaching the terminal. While standing in the Avis line I was assisted by a roaming Avis employee that directed me to the kiosk for Avis Preferred (even though I had just signed up online for Preferred status before this trip) and they had my car waiting for me in a spot, ready to go. The entire transaction took less than 10 minutes. Thanks Avis! And the employee at SMF roaming the line is a GREAT idea and she was very friendly so it made the experience the best I have had in ANY rental car company. As well, we travel out of the country a few times a year and find that Avis has the best selection of cars and are the easiest to use.
At pick up, directed to outside quick pick up area for keys. Not quick at all waited in heat over 10 min. On return, had early morning flight, parked car at 0230, app said to turn keys into lot attendant, no attendant to be found and none showed up for next 20 minutes. Eventually found key drop box in the small building in the parking lot. On the bright side, airport shuttle runs all night so had no trouble getting to the terminal.
I entered my information when booking the car and didnt realize the car I chose was at a different location. ( never book late at night! )The agent at the desk was so helpful, and got me straightened out with a better car than I had originally booked! Im always happy when I book with Avis.
Erroneously was charged for refuel. Now I have take time out of my busy schedule to prove Avis’ negligence. I rent cars over 20 times a year and no longer will use the service. Also work in the airline industry and will direct passengers to use other rental car providers.
I wish i could give zero stars. We should have went to Enterprise. This location will TAKE $1,200 from your debit card, let you drive over 100 miles, then tell you they dont except debit cards when you get there. Your lication possibly cost us our business. Horrible. Awful. Worst experience ive EVER had doing business with anyone!! I will never quit talking about what a terrible experience i had with you
For the past several years, Avis has been my Go-To when in urgent need of long term transportation. I have always been greeted with a warm smile, and an earnest willingness to help. I have found the rates to be fairly competitive with like establishment. I definitely appreciate the 24 hour customer service! I have turned to Avis for both local, and out of state adventures. I would highly recommend Avis!
Worst Car Rental Company in town! Ordered a 2018 Lincoln Navigator for my wedding and the guy assured us that we will get. Day comes and they give us a Chevy Tahoe which is a tier lower. Also, the car was really filthy, we had to wash it inside out. Also, we paid for full coverage Insurance for everything ahead but on the pick up they were insisting that we didnt. Just stay away from this company. They got sales people who cant even speak English on the phones!
I am a Avis Preferred member and rent from many places; however, the Sacramento Airport has a problem with clean windows and mirrors. I have rented there several times. The cars are not clean and the windows and mirrors are full of either water spots, dirt or both. I always stop at a gas stations and clean the windows and mirrors without exception. I have had correspondences with the manager and while courteous he is, i can see he has no desire to change anything, business as usual here. Dirty windows and mirrors become a safety issue for me during low sun angle and night driving.
Took a business trip and called around for a good rental vehicle. Avis was much cheaper than the other rental companies. The staff was friendly, quick, and efficient. I was able to choose the car I wanted and had overall had a great experience. I totally recommend AVIS!!
Worst excuse of a car rental company. The one lady here helped out someone and decided to disappear for +30 min, so we had one Budget employee helping out two lines. Terrible service for people who just spent hours on a plane. Will never be using Avis after this rental.
When I first posted this Avis had quoted me $530 over the phone to drop off the car in Jackson Wy instead of returning it to Sacramento and then when you billed my CC you charged over a $100 more than that. Originally I gave them one star, but was very pleased when I emailed them my complaint and they corrected their mistake. No ones perfect but they really try!
The car rental facilities at the Sacramento airport are located of site and you need to take a shuttle to get there. The shuttles come frequently in the ride is short. If you are an Avis Preferred member, go to the booth adjacent to the main building, to the service window. The staff is always nice and accommodating, and the service is very quick. Im usually on the road within about 20 minutes of getting off the plane (carry on only, so no waiting for luggage).
Staff was kind and directed me to Avis preferred without even asking. Although I did interact with a staff member to get my keys unlike some of the other avis facilities Ive been to, it was quick and easy. I received a chevy equinox for booking a full sized vehicle, needless to say it far exceeded my expectations. Super clean with lots of bells and whistles and drove extremely comfortably. Drop off couldnt have been easier. Would happily do business with this facility again and would highly recommend to friends and coworkers.
Arrived at Sacramento Airport, picked up and driven to an off terminal site promptly. Went to the Preferred counter and drove out in about 5 minutes. The staff was friendly and courteous. The car was clean and did not smell of tobacco, which is a problem weve had at other times with other rental agencies. Return was easy, prompt.
I get into the line for AVIS and they have 4 people working the Budget line and only 2 at the Avis line. Come to find out that they all work for the same company. They trade from side to side. I was I the line to get the paperwork for over an hour. Now I know why you offer specials? So that people get so fed up that they pay regular price at a company that doesnt make you wait. Thanks for making me late for my appointment. Not Cool, NOT COOL.
Jarvis you are the best. We arrived late in Sacramento to a flight delay from Seattle. We had reserved a car with another company. I called that other company and described our situation and they said that it would be fine and they would wait. When we arrived at the other company, a very snooty young lady informed us that we were 4 minutes past their closing time and that she was helping her last customer. We were the only ones in line after the customer she was serving and she said I guess youre out of luckWe walked back into the main building and Jarvis was sitting with a big smile. We shared our story and the fact that we had to get North for a gig. He not only got us into a car quickly, he beat the price of the other company, smiled and calmed us down with a few jokes, and sent us out the door happy and eager to be AVIS fans in the future. I am returning in April and plan to use AVIS again. If I am lucky enough, I will see Jarvis and let him know how much stress he toned down that weekend. Thank you AVIS for hiring considerate hosts, and thank you Jarvis for your hospitality and professional demeanor.
I was Billed on my Credit Card twice one being the actual cost the other was a estimate cost leaving me no room as a traveler to charge a hotel room stay on card. I have now started using a competitor. I have contacted my bank to dispute the estimate charge. all totaling over $3300.00
Avis in my case, but applies to all. Service and personnel are great. Problem is they CLOSE at midnight. If flight is late beyond their closing, YOU ARE SCREWED. I was. If Id known, I would have gone directly to the hotel. Hotel shuttle was busted (mechanical), so had to take a cab.Had to get to the rentals in the morning, and by the time I had it all set up, late for work. You would think, they would adjust their closing time to LAST FLIGHT in plus several minutes. EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT. EXTREMELY.
One employee in particular, Maria, made the experience exceptional. I was planning a 2000-mile, 10-day tour of the Pacific Northwest, and I really wanted a Prius for the trip. I visited the Avis location a day ahead, and explained this to Maria. She promised to find and hold a Prius for me. The next day, Maria was kind enough to call and reassure me that she had found a Prius and was holding it for me. I went to the airport and the car and paperwork were all ready. I simply had to drive away. The car, by the way, was excellent. Far exceeded my expectations for fuel economy, performance and comfort.
I have rented from the SMF Avis facility several times this year. In two cases, I was very surprised to find no agent available to handle my rental return right away. In one case I waited about 15 minutes until an agent appeared and asked Budget or Avis? How is it that a vehicle with a tag and VIN could not be recognized as an Avis car? Aside from this, the agents were very nice and helpful but this strange experience was unique: No other return facility for Avis operates this way.
I really like the efficient Preferred Customer process you have set up at the airport for picking up and returning cars. The wait time is minimal and the attendants are courteous and very professional. The rates are reasonable and models are descent. I would definitely recommend my friends renting from AVIS because of their great customer service.Thank You,Rudy Rosas

2022-07-10Everything went pretty good with my rental. I did get a slow leak in one of my tires, however. Avis was able to swap the old car with a new one that was located at a local airport. I really didnt lose much time at all which was great.

2022-06-01We were pleased with the rental we received however when reserving it we were shown getting a Chevy Malibu. We received a Toyota Camry. It was very nice but it never stated there to be a deposit when paying with credit or debit card. And when finalizing the agreement I was never told or notified there would be an additional fee for deposit. After leaving with the rental car I noticed on my banking app we were in fact charged over $200.00 more than I signed for or was gone over on in pricing and when to return. I still was never told about a deposit or when or if it would be refunded. I returned the rental on Friday night and still haven’t not heard or seen a refund. I would love to recommend this place and say I would rent again from them however that is a big ding when not expected. And having trouble reaching a person to speak with about it. Nice customer service face to face though so I did like that very much.

2022-04-27The rental process was very fast. It also added points to my American airlines rewards. Before I rent the next car I will ask if it has a navigational system. This car did not have one. I think cars without navigational systems are dangerous especially in the city where you do not know your destination.

2022-06-27Beware of the car you pick up!! Ours had damage to the windshield and there in no one at the exit to sign off on the damage. Once we got on the road, the cars maintenance required light came on. We were traveling to Tahoe with our 4 young kids, so we back tracked AN HOUR to get a different car....or so we thought. When we got to Avis, the attendant said cracked windshields are fine....ya, tell that to the police if they pull my over, and am I going to be held liable if cracks get larger due to the 30 degree temps in Tahoe in the morning? (It was 30-42 every morning we were there.) When I told them about the maintenance light, they told me I could wait in the GIANT check-in line if I wanted a different car, but they couldnt guarantee thered be a car for us to switch out into once we got to the front of the line. Great customer service, right? Three separate times during our rental our car had alarms going off and we had to pull over, turn the car off, wait 5 minutes, turn the car back on again, before it would drive again. Being in Tahoe there was no close Avis to switch out the vehicle. All that to say, RENT WITH CAUTION!

2022-07-06We picked up our car and after driving two hours realized the plates are expired the front tires are completely bald to the point of being unsafe. ( no tread at all and buckled). And the turn signal was not working. How do they let a car like that go out? Called Avis emergency service line and person was helpful. They are sending a replacement this evening. We’ll see how that works out. What a hassle and waste of a day for someone trying to drive cross country.

2022-06-24Worst experience. Will never use Avis again. I rarely post reviews, but this was so bad, needs to be shared. Was given a car that had a history of mechanical issues (as I was told later). Broke down on the highway. Not safe to stay there so walked to get somewhere safe. Was told I am liable for the car if I dont stay with it. Had to get my own Uber to get to a destination (ended up being 3 hours for tow truck to come if I waited and the tow truck would not have taken me as a passenger due to COVID rules). Was assured there would be a car waiting for me in the morning at a different AVIS location. No car waiting and they told me they could not give me a new car as I didnt have a reservation. Spent hours on the phone with Avis trying to get it resolved before I got a replacement car. And in the end, what did I get for my troubles? A full bill - no rental fee waived, not even a discount or an apology. Incredibly bad customer service.

2022-07-06Horrible! They will charge you as much as they want. They even charged me two times for the same rental. once when I make a reservation and second when I was checking out the car. No one tried to resolve the issue, and just toss me around. After posting this review, and disputing on credit card, one of the charges was refunded. Though I am still not happy with this experience that you paid for the rental in advance, and my payment was lost in their system over a week. Most of all, I reserved a car with prepaid option so I can check it out quickly after long flight but it was of no use. I had to call customer service but no one seems to be interested in helping me. So, my experience with Avis rental was still not good.

2022-06-25Pay attention when you return the car and request a receipt. They tried to charge me a full tank of gas eventhough i returned car with a full tank. Instead of correcting it right away they suggested i talk to customer service. In the end, they sorted it out at the location after talking to manager. The pickup was quick and easy and the cars were new and very clean.

2022-06-18The woman I dealt with at the Avis counter was very friendly but unable to assist with Avis charging double the Costco quoted price when I booked several months earlier. The Avis representative she told me to call was extremely rude and unhelpful by saying the price was what it was because we didn’t pick up the car by the time stated when booked. Our Amtrak train arrived 6 hours later than scheduled of which I had no control. The phone representative told me he would only help me with a new reservation and if I wanted to get more info on the Costco reservation I would have to wait until 7:30 am the following morning, when customer service opened. I called Costco they said to keep the original rental and to dispute the charge when I finished the rental period and they ( Costco) would deal with Avis. I used to love Avis…not so much anymore.

2022-07-08We waited in line for two hours because their system went down. They failed to announce this to the customers in line so we didn’t understand why we were waiting. When we finally were able to start the check in process I requested a discount for the inconvenience, I was told I could sit down and wait for the manager (no thanks). The person assisting with the check in then disappeared to help someone else mid way through the process despite it now being a 2.5 hour wait. Ultimately, the person was gone for so long we just took our items and went to another rental provider. Also worth noting we observed those who had completed the check in process waiting over an hour to simply get keys for their rental.
