Was not told that you needed to bring the car with the exact amount of gas. The tank was little over half way when I received it. I decided to fill it up when I turned it in. I asked for credit on my next rental and they said NO... The owner was busy when I took it back he is always so helpful and nice but the staff is not as nice as the owner. The young man who took the key of my rental wasnt willing to help me out he seemed rude.
I rented a car for three days and was charges $655 because they said there was smoke I don not smoke at all the car was clean and i even vacumed it. They never came outside like other rentals and go over the car to look at it or smell anything. This company is not a responsible place to rent from. I am so disappointed how do you charge $452 for cleaning when the car was already clean. I will never rent through Avis again
LOVE Hertz!I had reservations with Avis. They said they would wait since my plane made me 17 mins late. They left. Taxi to airport. Next day, Avis said I was on my own getting to airport.Hertz took me back to airport. Alfredo even stopped for me to pick up lunch. I was going to get a Hertz car. Hertz checked to make sure I hadnt already paid for the Avis car. Prepaid. If I did t take Avis car, no refund from Avis. I did NOT want to take Avis car. Amanda at Hertz encouraged me to save my money. Felt terrible that Hertz took me to airport and I didnt get their car. Alex was so gracious. Said I made his day when I told him.All Avis said was nothing we can do. Hubs co-workers have so had problems with Avis.Hertz was lovely, kind, gracious, helpful! I told them I would definitely use Hertz. Now lifelong customers.
Already filled a complaint with the company and have yet to hear back. This rating is for Caleb at the Bakersfield Airport Location. It does not include the associates Ive spoken to at other locations or on the phone.He is very rude and apparently is known for his demeanor by everyone at the airport including other agencies. He hung up on me after demanding I make a reservation online before speaking to him, after immediately calling back he denied it was him. He had a very distinct voice and was the only one working. After asking his name several times and being denied I to speak to his supervisor and having been told his name was Tom I was placed on brief hold and then hung up on again.Everything wouldve have been fine, however I forgot to add on an extra driver so we drove to the local office to get him signed in for liability issues. ( I loved loved fact that there were no surcharges for this.)Anyhow the local office could not accept my friends debit card and when told that the airport made no mention of this previously, they politely asked that I return it there as it was against company policy. Now I needed my friend to drive as we had a 4000 mile journey ahead of us and I could not do it alone so we headed back out to the airport. Upon arriving there was a few people in front of us who were having a issue with a representative and I immediately recognized his voice. I waited my turn and then when he refused to help these traveling nurses who just turned in their vehicle in trade for another one then denied due to not having a major credit card. I understand company policies, however in this is a circumstance that I felt should have been h handled with more tact. He literally told them you already gave me your keys and Im not giving you another one goodbye. No apologies for the inconvenience,just a stern Im not helping you. Again I understand the circumstances and company policy, but the customer service was atrocious. Moving on. The get out of line and I immediately ask him his name. Which is where he responds my name is Caleb . I told him I thought so. He asked if we knew each other and I told him that we did from the phone call we had the other day. He denied it was him. After explaining that it was highly doubtful i would find a another representative with his voice and demeanor. His response was I was you can tell someones demeanor over the phone , and I said when it is like yours yes .He once again denied it was him and said Ive been off for two days , which is where I told him it was three days ago.He had nothing else to say and asked what we needed.When asked why he was working in a position where he was unhappy, he responded with Im perfectly fine. I told him he needed more tact.While He signed my friend up with his unemployment card. I talked to the couple who explained to me that they were stranded now without a car. On my way out I told them that he just signed my friend up with a debit card so I dont know why he couldnt help them and left.Now I want to explain something. I have been in customer service for several different industries for almost two decades. It only takes empathy,tact, and communication to resolve most disputes.I make a living helping people with several obstacles they may find in their daily lives. Some being job searching, job etiquette, and professionalism.Upon appearance I think Caleb was the best dressedand clean cut individual there in the airport.However he is clearly unhappy, whether its his personal life, lack of appreciation,or compensation for his role. Something needs to change. I honestly believe everyone is able to be coached, however that person has to be willing to.To Caleb, I dont hate you brother, I hope you find something or someone in life that makes you happy. Good or bad take every experience as an opportunity to learn and grow.
This place had horrible service and we were given a red SUV that said it needed maintenance while we were driving. It also made a ringing noise. So we took the car back and had to get a new one by the airport. The worker here was very unhelpful. 100% do NOT recommend this place to anyone. Take your money someplace else.
I reserved a car for 2 days while mine was in the shop and went on my lunch hour to pick it up. As soon as he pulls up my name, he says there’s already a vehicle tied to my reservation. Turns out, he wasn’t paying attention and checked someone else in under my name/account earlier that morning and gave them a rental. I prepaid for a compact sedan and The lady was renting an SUV for a different number of days, but apparently it happened because she had my initials.If I wanted my reservation, I had to repay for the car and wait for the lady to come back with the SUV. If I wanted the refund, I still had to wait until she returned the vehicle...for a mistake he made. I told him I guess I’d just have to file a chargeback because I had to go back to work and he handed me my ID and said sorry. Didn’t try to contact his manager for additional assistance; incredibly disappointing for something he personally screwed up.
I rented a car that had expired plates, broke down on me second day, was towed and left stranded at a gas station after sleeping in the car all night. Then was not checked in by your staff and your company was going to file grand theft on me then 2 months after my rental was charged the full amount $1040. Now waiting for a refund of the days after it got towed. But will probly get stiffed for the whole amount. I will never rent from Avis ever again
I had to wait an hour and a half in line at the Sacramento airport just to get to the counter, they did not have any cars is ready. I waited 30 minutes for a car. When they brought the first car to the front the attendant told me that the car had a small smell but the smell was much worse than he described. It had smelled like alcohol and throw up, still had crumbs in the back seat. With me being 6 months pregnant I could not drive hours in a car smelling like that in triple digit heat. I then waited another 40 minutes for another car that had stains on the seats and look like it had been halfway washed. I couldn’t afford to wait any longer but did make sure I took pictures. This experience was horrible!!
Hmmm, this was a trying experience at best. We rented a car for a road trip. Half way to our destination the oil light came on and we had to exchange the vehicle as soon as we arrived. Taking time from the trip. If that werent enough the staff could have been a little more communicative. But that being said... We all have off days.
Rental prices were not offered correctly couldnt use my discounts.was told they hadno cars trying to reserve but they had them at the location.usually get ldw and a amazon gift card plus 30 percent but nope.how are you going to tell me that their are no vehicles not rent me one there.
Reserved 2 weeks in advanced and on the day we were supposed to take the van they gave it to someone else. they changed our reservation to a luxury vehicle when we specifically wanted a large van now were here looking for a vehicle/vehicles 2 hours before we need to leave thanks so much I will tell everyone I know to not use this company. No call no email saying we needed to find another company
I made a reservation for a standard size car . On the day of my reservation i was told all they had was an suv i took the suv but didnt feel comfortable driving it so i went back to the office and let the employee know he told me to come in the next morning and he would hold a car for me and i could trade vehicles . Next morning i go in and was told by the same man that said he would hold a car for me that he didnt have any cars available . And that i would have to wait a hour for one to be cleaned if i still wanted to switch . To top it off you can not reach the bakersfield office on the phone they wont answer and then your call gets transfered to there corporate office ... Very annoying experience
Had a reservation. The day of our trip arrived, went to pick up the vehicle I had paid for and reserved .Nope. Was told there were no vehicles. I asked about my reservation and was told its first come first served, the employee just shrugged his shoulders. Ok I thought, have to leave town within an hour of the time it currently was. I asked about the meadows field location. He said they were sold out too. Long story short, I call them, to cancel the reservation so Im not charged. However I still get charged for the vehicle, and am told I have to wait 2-3 days for the charges to come off and that they will come off in two separate payments. Horrible, never going through them again. They are not trustworthy, when you have plans set in stone you may not get a vehicle.
This Avis is horrible. We gave them a 2nd chance. Super disappointed they have 1 person working. The car was a little small for 2 car seats we asked to upgrade and they made a big deal out of it so we didnt. The car smelled like cigarette smoke super bad. There were dents and scratches bigger than the quarter told her to come look so we didnt get charged. She freaked out and said it wasnt her job. Let her know I wasnt leaving until they walked around the car like they were supposed to. We usually love Avis and rent lots of cars. Spend the extra 20 bucks and go to another location or use enterprise.
What a joke! This little unassuming shack had a line out the door and and only 1 person working the front desk. They didnt have the cars available that people had rented. We waited an hour just to simply return a car!I will 💯% never come back here! Management needs to make some major changes here!
Worst rental car agency Ive ever seen. The entire office is filthy and looks like its falling apart. Dirty carpet and walls. Didnt want to touch or lean against anything.One person working with a huge line and in no rush to get the work done quickly. Everyone had to stand there and wait for this one person to walk back and forth very slowly with every customer. Id never go back to this location.
Worst customer service from a car rental place. Made a reservation online, went in on the reservation day/time. The vehicle was not available had to wait over 2 hours for ANY vehicle to be available. Now more than a month later AVIS has still not released the funds that were overcharged.
Very shady business practices. I extended my rental through the automated system and was not informed until AFTER the initial drop off date that my extension wasnt approved. I was shuffled around to different people who could not give me information as to why. Shortly after, the car window was broken into and I was told that I could still switch the car despite the mishap and nope, they could not and they tried to charge me 700 for 4 days. I was stranded at SFO. And overcharged on my credit card. If I would have known that my rental extension wasnt approved before the drop off date then I would have taken the car back when it was due. Just do urself a favor and stay away from Avis and their super shady practices.
I got a dirty car. There were only 2 cars left on the lot and 1 employee so I had no choice. He asked the guy in front of me doing a return, is it clean and does it have gas, the guy replied yes and thats the car I got. I complained it was dirty and was told I would get a $20 voucher for the inconvenience and have yet to see that voucher.
I just looked at the charge yall tried to put on my account and I was just two days late and yall tried charge me 880 dollars thats insane I called yesterday and asked if I could return it to airport in Bakersfield and they said it would be fine not that yall were gonna charge me 600 more dollars this is crazy
We’ve used Avis a few time before and have had no problems but the guy who helped us I’ve never seen before. First off we couldn’t add a second driver, a first for us with any rental company. All seemed well we we drove off but then I noticed that the windows were filthy, not only on the outside but the windows were grimy on the inside too. When we opened the trunk we found it full of sand. Upon return is when we get pissed. Ok, so I didn’t look at the receipt before we left, but we’ve rented from the before and had no problem. We picked up the car at 7:30 and dropped it off on the 4th at 9:30 and they charged us a whole extra day. It’s usually that you have have to bring it back before a certain time and of course he didn’t say anything about it. A WHOLE DAY FOR 2HRS! He also didn’t use my husband’s work discount or our AARP card that we gave him. This Richard Cranium (my husband calls him) said that he didn’t have to tell us about any of it when we were there. Sleazy is the nicest that I can say about it.
We have a reservation for a SUV. Then when we arrive we waited for an hour, when it was our time to get our reservation they told us they dont have anymore. They have no sense of responsibility or professionalism. The girl that was helping us just ran away like literally ignore us after we said our complaints. SHE WAS NOT FIT FOR THAT JOB AND SHE HAS A LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM. She just gave us back our card and walk away (talk about rude and disgraceful). They should have told us or gave us a follow up email so that we wont have to go there and waste our time. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE LIKE LITERALLY (IF YOU ARE YOU ARE JUST WASTING YOUR TIME AND BREATHE TALKING TO THIS PEOPLE).
Horrible customer service and experience. I had already paid but I couldnt get the car because I didnt use, nor have on me at the time, a major credit card. I paid with my debit card and there were no information ahead of showing up for the reservation. Additionally, the terms of service PDF document is broken on their website and currently shows as blank. So I also a agreed to no actual terms. Overall experience was horrible.
The lady working behind the counter raised her voice and told me to mind my business and stay out of it as I tried to assist someone with an insurance question. As an insurance agent, I do that, it IS my business.I own agency and budget has been who I reccomend to my clients for rentals during a claim; and that ends today. I am back to referring them to enterprise.on top of that, no vehicles were available that we had reserved and were told wed have to wait. thats unacceptable. if you dont have cars available, DONT TAKE THE RESERVATION! Its simple. Now that you have thrown off our plans due to poor planning; if any, we have to find a plan B.I am again disappointed and disgusted at the way this organization runs. Im also mad at myself for giving you another chance.
Dealing with AVIS / BUDGET customer service was HORRIBLE!!!! I wish there was a zero star option. I was stranded out of town due to car trouble. I rented a car from Budget (Avis) for 1 week because the mechanicadvised my transmission replacement should be complete by then. Turns out new trans. was no good had to wait for another. This caused me to have to extend my rental about 3 times. They informed me that was the limit for extensions, despite me telling them it was out of my control when my car would be ready. Every time I was charged $10 just for extending. They refused to waive that fee saying, NO, its policy.They were so cold every time I had to call. I always wound up asking for a supervisor. A couple of times I was transferred to another representative. Once the 2nd rep. did transfer me to a sup. Once the fake supervisor hung up on me.I had to beg supervisors to keep the weekly rate of $33 per day, which was high to me. Now, mind you less than 2 weeks prior to this rental, I spent about $900 on a budget truck rental.After the 2nd extension, I had to give up my hotel room. I went to stay with a friend about a hundred miles away.So, when the mechanic called me at 1:45pm on 7/3/17, telling me that my car was finally ready, I called again to request a few hours more than the 29 min. grace period (Yes I said a 29 minute grace period...REALLY???) due to holiday traffic and the distance I had to travel. Again, NO, its policy and said that I would have to pay for another day.I made it there close to 5:00 pm. Thank God for the kind gentleman behind the counter. The 1 star (I was forced to select at least one) goes to the counterman. He did not charge me the extra day.I travel alot, usually flying and renting cars,BUT, NEVER AGAIN IN LIFE WILL I RENT FROM AVIS / BUDGET!!!!!!!I was a customer service rep before and I know that when customers call for assistance, depending on circumstances, there are always exceptions that can be made. Me being stuck out of town made no difference to them.THIS COMPANYS CUSTOMER SERVICE POLICIES AND THEIR PHONE REPS ARE HEARTLESS!!!!Thanks for asking about my experience.
This is the second time Ive been let down by this specific location. The first time I made an online reservation days in advance, then when I arrive to pick up my reservation, they had nothing left and that they dont DO online reservations. This time I was stranded in the area, so I tried to call and see if they had any vehicles available, before showing up, no one answered the phone so I was redirected to Avis reservation service. I asked the the lady on the other end to verify that they had vehicles available, she said the did, so I made a reservation with them over the phone. When I get to their location, surprise, surprise, they have nothing available. So as I stand here writing this review , Im watching cars being returned and rented without being cleaned first. Wow.
The lady was very rude. The vehicle is very dirty inside and out. Car was not ready when it was reserved for 9am. There is dog hair all over inside the vehicle. There is a fowl smell inside the vehicle. They added more money for the taxes and stuff. Not satisified with the car or service. I am to have the vehicle for a week and this is how I recieved the vehicle. .
Called them a few days before to rent a car. Paid over the phone and told them I didnt have a credit card just a debit card, they said it was no problem. A few days later I went in to pick up a car. The guy behind the counter said I needed a credit card so they can run a credit check at the same time that they charge me for the deposit. He attempted to do it with my bank card which would not work on the Equifax credit check. So I had to call them to get a refund of which its been a week and half since then and still no refund on my account. Ended up going to rent a wreck which was way easier to deal with and I had a rental within 45 mins with no credit check b.s. I do not recommend Avis to anyone. They make renting a car overly complicated and seem to lack any care for their customers. The gentleman behind the counter was very nice and tried to make it work but the people I dealt with on the phone were a bit rude and didnt seem to want to help me resolve the issue.
The wait was an HOUR just to get my car, even though I had reserved it. The car was not clean, no 100% full gas, more like 97%. On the road, the A/C went out. It was 104 degrees with my kids in the back seat. When I went back to return it, they said the car was not 100% full of gas, it was about 98%. I should of gotten some sort of credit for a dirty, non A/C working car. Nostradamus they said they wouldnt charge me for the gas, since it wasnt full. Horrible customer service since it started and it certainly ended that same way.
I tend to use this location often, the customer service is always great and the ease of picking up and dropping off vehicles is nice. The location is small so at times your wait can be a bit longer than wanted, but they make sure to give all customers great service. overall good location.
Okay..so in an economy that is in the crapper, we all have our issues. Trying to make things work, getting places you need to be, and all around trying to make the best out of a crappy situation. So...rent a car, because mine wont get us there, trying to do the responsible thing, not to mention helping out the local economy by putting money into it by renting said car. But NO, because we have swore off credit cards, which got a lot of us in trouble to begin with, I am now penalized. AVIS will not rent me a car, because I do not have a credit card. If I use my Debit card, they want $200 deposit, plus the cost of the weekly rental, okay I get that, but they also run a credit check on you, show me someone who has not been scarred by this damn economy and I will bet they are a damn banker!!! So...Denied I am because my credit is no good. Do I have the money to pay the $200 and the car fee, yep, will they get my money and will we go on the trip, NO!!. Thanks for nothin Avis, way to jump start the economy, one customer at a time. Will never, ever use this company again, even when we get back on our feet!!!!!
These people are as crooked as a cork screw. They tell you one price then charge you more. Make sure you check your pockets when you leave. The Wible location is poorly taken care of and the agents are shady. Do your-self a favor and go to another rental company...Note these agents are also associated with Budget and Hertz car rental as well.
Horrible customer service!!! We had a reservation a month ago and just received a call 2 hours before pick up that the vehicle we had reserved was not available and they had nothing available... would not recommend ever... all they care about is making money not the customers need... would rate it a 0 star...

2022-07-19I rented a brand new equinox. I picked the car up on a Saturday morning came back to the house to put stuff into it and found vomit on the backseat… The lady I spoke with did not seem to know what customer service is supposed to be. I feel that it’s right that if they can charge you their outrageous amount for cleaning the car if you bring it back dirty I thought I should be able to charge them for renting me one with vomit on the backseat. I will never use Avis again. Oh also got a charge for a day I didn’t use.

2022-08-05I booked my car a month in advance and when I got there, they didnt have the class of the car that I booked and wanted me to travel across town to the airport and try to rebook there even though I told them the price would be higher trying to book the same day. I got charged for a convertible class but did not get that class. They didnt even have a full size until a man came and dropped one off while I was there. They did a rush job on cleaning it. There were stains on the front and back seat and oil stains on the floors. The service was even worse. I am a preferred member and rent with Avis very often, usually from the Sahara location in Vegas and I am always satisfied from that one but this is my 2nd time renting from Bakersfield and both times I have had an issue. I will not rent from this location again. Once I returned the car, I seen multiple cars in the class that I had originally booked for. I am very upset about this booking

2021-07-21WARNING!!!!! 1 star is only because I couldnt leave a NO star. I rented a one day car rental and returned my car to Avis 4208 Wible Road Bakersfield on June 24 2021 in clean condition with a full tank of gas. Attendant would not come outside to check out the car. He asked if it had a full tank of gas,I said yes, he told me to leave the keys in it and I was good to go. My bill for the 1 day rental was supposed to be $160.26 and my credit card was charged $459.57. I called and spoke with the manager who said the car was full of dog hair which it was not and they charged me $250.00 cleaning fee. I asked him to email me a receipt of the charges and any photos he has to show the car full of dog hair. He then put me on terminal hold and then the phone hung up on me. This rental location is charging fraudulent charges to customer credit cards. I am disputing this with my CC company.

2021-08-19Had an emergency come up needed to rent a vehicle asap. Excited that Avis told us over the phone that they had an SUV on the lot and we could come down and get set. Well, we get there as fast as we can and they try to get us into a van. We showed up for an SUV that we were told was there.Not sure what their goal of customer service is right now. This doesnt help build confidence for the customers. They could have just said no sorry we dont have a vehicle matching what you are requesting, perhaps we can help you with (fill in the blank) and we wouldnt have wasted our time or their time. I was a bit disappointed they dont seem to know a difference between a van and an SUV.
